The 13 Best Nachos In LA

"Even as extreme nacho lovers, we reached a point in our research for this guide when we couldn't bear to consume another pile of fried tortilla chips covered in melted cheese. Then we checked back in on Birreria Villalobos. This Tijuana-style birria truck made us forget that we'd tried 20 nachos in one week. It was like falling in love with nachos all over again—this time with the help of juicy, spicy beef birria, fresh onion, cilantro, and a mountain of jack cheese. Considering the mountain of meat that comes on top, this thing could feed a family of four. But we happily finished the whole thing ourselves." - brant cox, sylvio martins, nikko duren, garrett snyder, arden shore

The 14 Best Spots for Beef Birria Tacos in LA - Eater LA

"One of the biggest stars to emerge from the Tijuana birria taco wars has been Birrieria Villalobos. The truck runs every day but Wednesday on the border of Boyle Heights and East LA, just north of the famed Los Cinco Puntos." - Farley Elliott

Birrieria Villalobos Review - Boyle Heights - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"This Tijuana-style birria truck showcases its slow-cooked beef birria in a multitude of ways. Whether it’s burritos, tacos dorados, tortas, or caldo you’re looking for, this mobile Boyle Heights spot has it. More importantly, tacos here are $1 during their Taco Tuesday special. But if you’re more like me and consider every day to be taco day, head over to Birrieria Villalobos whenever you feel like it for their delicious consommé that’s packed with tender meat, fresh onion, cilantro, and deep chile flavor. If you’re looking for something heavier, you can’t go wrong with their birria torta either. This massive sandwich is first soaked in spicy consommé so it gives in with each bite. It’s then filled with a mountain of meat, melted cheese, onions, and hot salsa roja for probably one of the biggest servings of birria you’ll find anywhere across LA. photo credit: Andrea D'Agosto Food Rundown Birria Quesataco The queso here isn’t a gooey layer of cheese, but almost a second crispy tortilla that wraps around this Tijuana-style birria. The whole taco is bathed in the consommé’s spices and chile flavor, from the stained tortillas to the meat itself, making for a delicious (but slightly too oily) taco. Mulita Like the quesataco but with a second tortilla on top, this sandwich-like taco is twice as spicy with twice the beef birria and consommé dying everything a glistening orange color. However, the cheese in the mulitas is more melted and less crispy, creating a tasty glue between the two oiled tortillas. Torta Beware: this torta is roughly the size of a football. This bolillo is stuffed to the brim with beef birria, onions, cilantro, and griddled cheese that’s both semi-melted and semi-crispy. We also love the truck’s hot salsa roja that we generously pour inside the torta for an extra smoky kick." - Sylvio Martins

Google
I have been craving Birria Ramen for months. Finally get to LA (From NY) and put "Birria Ramen Truck" into google search. I went to the window and the lovely young lady that was there was so happy to see me. She was chatty and polite and very sweet. It cost a little over $16 dollars, but the bucket of ramen you get it large. I am finally tucking into it and I am SO happy. it's everything i've been waiting for. so much meat, so many noodles, so much soup. Plus hot sauce, lime wedges and radish. It's DELICIOUS. I honestly can't tell you how happy i am eating this right now 🥰

Google
Came here on Taco Tuesday cause they have $1.25 tacos . Who doesn’t like $1.25 tacos ? We ordered 10 of them plus 2 jugos . It came out to like $22 dollars. The tacos were great ! I just didn’t like that they put the picante on the tacos . I appreciate it on the side. But it was good ! Def would come back on a Tuesday

Google
This place was on point. Wow I wish I had one near by. When people talk about delicious LA Street food this is what they mean. These people also make a mean salsa so good and spicy.

Google
I don’t think I need to tell everyone how amazing the food is here. I went finally for the first time and it was instant love after that first bite, the meat, the crunchy taco, the sauce, and that consume 👌perfection. Trust me when I say that this truck brakes the taco Tuesday rule. This is 365 tacos, I can eat this everyday, metaphorically speaking. Anyway I uploaded some shots of where it’s located because I got the lost the first time. Across the street from 5 puntos and right outside el super grocery store. if you haven’t tried the food here your missing out.

Google
I would have rate them a 5 but after Sundays visit (11/28) I'm knocking out 2 stars. 1. The cashier was eating the whole 40 mins my family and I were waiting for our food and then we ate there as well. 2. I'm not sure what world they live in but they hardly put any cilantro or onion in your items. (See picture). When I approached them to ask them for cilantro and onion, the cashier (who was literally chewing food) was rude about it and when I said that they hardly put any on my items she just shrugged her shoulders like saying it wasn't her problem and proceeded to charge me $0.50 for condiments that should have been there already. I dont mind paying if I was asking for more than what I was given. I was given nothing to start off. So when going i suggest u ask for the onion and cilantro on the side!

Google
Best birria in Los Angeles County. Hands down... I came from two county's away just to try it .now I regularly go on my motorcycle to enjoy some really amazing great tasting food.

Google
Drove from the IE and it was worth it! That quesa taco is pure 🔥 I had the sampler! Only down side is they don't take atm.

Pixiedust 0830

Google
I would have given a 5 star rating but the cashier and cooks were not wearing masks. I noticed a lot of customers coming up to the side door to order with the cashier which would place people about 2-3 feet from her. The pandemic is not over and not everyone is vaccinated so I was a bit weary about ordering food from them. In the end, my husband was really "hangry" so I ordered two quesa tacos for him and a soft taco. He enjoyed the over stuffed juicy tacos and I ended up not getting food for myself from there this time around.

Yelp
I have driven out of my way when I am remotely close to LA to grab some birria here. My best pro tip is go on Fridays during Lent to avoid the crowds. Jajajaja Simply one of the best spots.

Yelp
**Riverside Food Truck Location** We live in the neighborhood behind "food truck alley" as it's been being called online. Thursday's in our neighborhood are street sweeping so every car has to move or get fined, as the street parking for our street extends down Diana, in the morning people park on "Food Truck Alley" to avoid the fine. This is before *most* trucks show up but there is so much in the way of parking it usually isn't too big a deal. My husband parked over there this morning (2-20-25) at around 8.45 am and didn't plan to move until he went to work at 4.30 pm. So imagine his surprise when this food truck has managed to box him in with so much space left in front of the truck. He went to talk to the people in the truck and it didn't see anyone until a couple went to order and then someone appeared. My husband patiently waited for the order to be completed before he made eye contact with the person inside the truck before motioning that he was the van behind the truck and the person inside smirked before going back to finishing the order. The person then ignored my husband to talk to a friend passing through about all the "non food trucks" on "their" street. Mind you - this is public parking. He then acknowledged my husband when my husband asked if the truck could be moved a bit to allow him to leave. And the person said that they didn't have the keys and the truck doesn't leave until the end of the night to combat all the people from the apartments trying to park on the street. While I don't know their business practices - I can't imagine leaving someone alone in a food truck with no keys to move it incase of emergencies. And while this might not have been an emergency for them, it would have been nice for the person inside to have not treated him like a criminal for parking on our street. He's still behind the food truck as he is now unable to leave for work in this extremely petty and dumb situation. The employee while not outright rude in a traditional sense was rude in how he chose to handle the situation.

Yelp
Birria tacos was the best. Definitely worth the wait. Hot dripping wet tacos. I'm sure everything else is bomb. Mike and Francisco had very great service!

Yelp
We love coming out to get some of the delicious Quesa-Tacos with conzumel. We have been coming for a few years now and it's always so good! I always recommend the food here!

Yelp
***RIVERSIDE LOCATION*** Flavor 7/10 not bad but not the best bit dry no juice.. portions was 10/10 HUGE! BURRITO AND TORTA Price was a bit much but hey that's the cost of being lazy and eating out
google avatar

Yelp
Solid birria tacos. Been a returning customer for years now and they are packed with meat. Staff always friendly and helpful. Quick service. Tacos and Queso tacos and quesadillas are always a go to! Side walk ordering and ate on tail gate of car In the neighboring parking lot.
google avatar

Yelp
*Indiana St Location* The quality and customer service has gone down! Ordered a burrito and the beans were undercooked and the meat was dry. The tacos were dry and flavorless. The woman who took my order Estefania was rude, had an attitude and was on her phone talking to the cook about a singer on Instagram. Then looked annoyed when I placed my order. To top it off she got my order wrong and over charged me. You're better off going to the stand down the block. The food and customer service is so much better. Never going back here again.

Yelp
WEED ONLY!! Went to the one in Riverside. No one was inside the truck and there was a strong weed smell. Waited about 2 minutes and left. As im walking to my car I hear someone yell HEY!.. it was the cook coming towards me high af. I turned around an bounced! This is not how you present business. Also I noticed they have a "no smoking sign" with "weed only " handwritten in it.

Yelp
We've eaten birria tacos in San Diego, Las Vegas and Corona in search for affordable, clean and meaty tacos. The tacos at Birrieria Villalobos is our favorite by far. They put a lot of meat in their tacos. The meat they use doesn't taste fatty. As many times as we've bought tacos here, we have only gotten shredded birria and absolutely no fat. In order for the corn tortillas to not fall apart, the meat is drained a bit. I recommend ordering a small consome and spoon soup on your tacos. I also order extra cilantro and onions. The different ladies who take the orders have all been nice. The truck counter is clean. There's also a few chairs so if you want to enjoy your food there instead of taking it home, you can. There's a lot of parking. We always park in the El Super grocery store lot. We've been coming here for over a year and haven't been disappointed. They have raised their prices slightly (as other business have) but even at their non-Taco Tuesday price, it's a good value for your dollar. We will definitely continue to come back.

Yelp
I have been visiting this location for a few years now and not once have I had a bad experience! They used to take cash only now they also have a card reader. Truck located in riverside, busy after 5, slow lunch time. Best Birria in the area. The Quesadilla de Birria con todo (with everything) and a side of tacos is a must! Always super juicy and tender! The Quesadillas are big and lots of birria in them always. Don't forget the Orchata or Mexican Coca cola. Make sure to get an extra side of Salsa Roja, spicy but flavorful! Z Will continue to visit this location when I'm digging Birria!

Yelp
never again‼‼ I asked for a burrito they have me a quesadilla. The service isn't good at all, my mother once asked for no Chile and to put it on the side, these people put it on the tacos . THEN when I was going to the supermarket next to where they sell, I saw a worker that was scratching their fucking balls, that's disgusting asf, how are you gonna scratch your balls then cook peoples food, that's disgustinggg .
google avatar

Noumenon E.

Yelp
They're whatevers. 3+ bucks a taco pretty much. False advertising on social media 100% Tacos are bland without the salsa, limón, y cebolla cilantro (that they skimp out heavy on. They then have the audacity to try n charge you for a small pinch of it on the side. Also, I like meat. Not a huge wad of fat attached to meat. That's half the taco. Don't waste money on the flavorless fat water consome. Prepackaged agua "fresca" lol - Don't waste money on that. Walk less than a block over for actual agua fresca. Or the supermarket right there for a variety of prepackaged drinks. Only come here rarely because the other tacos trucks ain't sh*t either. But those cost less than half the price of these soooo......

Karmisha L.

Yelp
Edit: this review is for the truck on Adams and Vermont by the 10 Fwy. The birria nachos?!?!?!!! Phew, fire isn't the word! I got them with everything (onions hot sauce cilantro) and as soon as I took one bite I was in love. Their red sauce is spicy for real so if you like spice like me get it on the nachos, if not leave it alone. They were $16.83 after tax ($15.00 before) and worth every penny! I will definitely be back for a "treat yourself" meal. Thank you guys!

Yelp
Food amazing! Service is very quick, good, and efficient. Has many options! Quick, easy, delicious. Ambiance is good as well. Inexpensive. Great portions.
google avatar

Steven L.

Yelp
Birria taco is decent but I've tasted better from other birria spots in Huntington Park (minus 1 star). Taco can be crispy or non crispy style. Biggest disappointment is the birria tacos doesnt come with the sauces to dip (minus 1 star). $3.25 per birria tacos. This truck is parked in front of Ralph's market.
google avatar

Bianca L.

Yelp
Not the birria taco truck for me. $16 for 4 tacos.. + $3 for the consomme. Came here because 3 other spots around here were not open. Prices are not listed, they just have a menu of the food. Ordered 2 hard shell tacos & 2 soft tacos.. what we got were 4 soft tacos. Paid $3 for a tiny cup of consomme... I could have made this myself by boiling some hot water and a tablespoon of beef bouillon. That's how bland, salty and watery it was. Horchata was good.. and the meat inside the taco was good. Not my go to place for savory birria tacos.
google avatar

Michael P.

Yelp
Always stop here Great flavors and options. Tried the burrito today. Perfect mix of flavors and sides wrapped in tortilla. The staff are always in a good mood and dancing while cooking. Always a good time stopping here. Taking some back to AZ this trip. Wife loves it that much.

Wendy P.

Yelp
I'm not sure why they have a three star rating. They are really good now I have to admit when I opened up my to go box and saw Pinto beans not refried and my rice looked clumpy so I thought about not even eating it but I was so hungry I took a bite , and I'm so glad I did! This is FIRE. I'm here for a week and will definitely be back.
google avatar

Nhi L.

Yelp
The original taco stand I wanted to try wasn't open yet so I decided to try this truck instead. I'm from the Bay Area and was super excited to try the food up here since I've heard it's so much better. This place did not disappoint! The tacos were small but were packed full of meat! The hot sauce that they give is truly different and super spicy! I was full after eating 3. The only thing I wish is for the meat to be a little bit juicer but overall everything was tasty!
google avatar

Jake I.

Yelp
I drive all the way here from Rancho Cucamonga. Totally worth it.. I get the Birria tacos with consome. Only thing is I wish there was tables..
google avatar

Mariel D.

Yelp
Se pasaron de verdad compre el ramen y todo el pellejo que me pusieron ni mi perro se lo come ; llegue a casa y se me revolvió el estómago .$14.50 a la basura .
google avatar

Gabby A.

Yelp
I'm giving this place four starts as an over all rating because the food is great, but everything surrounding getting your meal isn't practical. The wait can be extremely long on the weekends. Even to get your food theirs another wait. Its 4th of July and Its my second time here. My husband had to run into the office early in downtown so I decided to join him. I knew I would be getting food for just coming along. So, it's 9:00am and there is no line because they aren't open until about 9:30am Parking is so complicated. This food truck is parked outside a grocery store that does not allow people to use their parking to eat there. The street parking is very limited. Across the street it like a residential street. People will park anywhere and illegally to gets some of this food. In my opinion it can be dangerous. Now to the food. You must get a a consomé with your taco order. The consomé is a beef both that is rich and bold in flavor. It's packed with clean mean and it's not too oily or greasy. To the tacos. The tacos here aren't huge, but very well served. I've had most of them and I would recommend them all. It all depends on your mood. My go to are always the tacos dorados (expect to wait extra for these). They are worth the wait. I like mine with the salsa on the side. I think their salsa is more than I can handle. So, for people the enjoy the extra heat, enjoy!

M B.

Yelp
Found this place on Instagram. Drive 30 mins to try it out. We went to the Riverside location. They have 3 regular locations. The food was delicious! We got the noodles, tacos and quesadillas. So good! All of it. Honestly my only complaint is the girl taking our order. She seemed miserable. Wasn't friendly at all. Looked annoyed to be doing her job. Spending $80 at a food truck is annoying when there is not friendly staff. Over all, we will be back! Hopefully greeted by someone different.
google avatar

Lauryn F.

Yelp
I would leave 5 stars for the food so good every time!! Come at least twice a month. But the service is ASS! The girls taking the orders are so rude maybe they shouldn't hire classless people. Plus they work beyond slow even if it's not busy you're going to wait for you food at least 15 mins.
google avatar

Claudia P.

Yelp
Tacos quemados tardan mucho tiempo para servir, mas de 20 minutos para 3 taquitos y aparte quemados. No vuelvo
google avatar

Ramiro V.

Yelp
So I seen this place on social media and it looked good so I decided to try it out. When I arrived to order there wasn't a line but a lot of people were waiting. I soon learned it was a long wait. Almost an hour later I received my order of six birria tacos. Make sure to order a cup of consomé with your tacos cause it doesn't come with your order. I must say the tacos were worth that wait. They were so good especially with the consomé I tried the taco, quesa-taco, taco dorado and quesa-taco dorado. My favorite has to be the taco dorado and the quesa-taco dorado. I will definitely have to come back soon.
google avatar

Omar F.

Yelp
Attention Birria lovers, this is a must try! I was blown away by the great flavor of the birria. Perfect mixture of spices to create something delicious. The Queso tacos dorados and the Mulitas are delicious. Each taco has a generous portion of birria. Everything tasted fresh, overall great quality.

Joseph D.

Yelp
Taco Tuesday special - birria tacos are $1.37 each plus tax. Ordered 3 tacos . Tacos were good. Bill was cheap. Definitely will be back here another day.
google avatar

Heidi P.

Yelp
Good AF! I always walk over with my roommate and its always good. Their birria consume is delicious, i could drink the whole cup. Service is good and everyone is nice and generous.
google avatar

Silvano L.

Yelp
NO recomendable!!! Tortilla dura. Con carne cocida con colorante... no gasten su dinero en algo ke de verdad no vale la pena.. existen mejores tacos con mas sabor en el area.

Isabel P.

Yelp
Parked next to the super market making it easy for parking. Had the quesatacos dorados and the ramen. Super fresh, crunchy, and delicious. Packed with meat and flavor. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Suzy H.

Yelp
We came to this spot due to the hype off TikTok. I believe they have 3 spots. We decided on the on in East LA it's right off the corner of Cesar Chavez and N Indiana. We orders 3 queso tacos and birria ramen. And MAAAAAAANN was it fire!! Definitely recommend !! However, have patients when ordering because the chick that takes your orders is very rude. Reason why I didn't give this spot 5 stars. Being a little nice to customers won't kill you. Update: We went for the second time. Hope we would have a better experience this time around and he was just as awful as the first one. The same girl has the same nasty attitude. Worst customer service ever, we stood there hoping to place an order and she just stared at us with our even asking what we wanted to order. It wasn't until one of the cooks came over and told us that they were close. No acknowledgment whatsoever. Last time going there.
google avatar

C M.

Yelp
Tacos are ok. But they don't taste like birria at all. I've had real birria in Tijuana and Guadalajara and in LA, so I know. Also when you ask for cilantro and onions you only get onion... there is barely any cilantro. I ask for my salsa to be on the side because I know how much to put in my tacos that am eating I know my level of spicy, they don't. And they wanted to charge me 50 cents. So if they add the salsa it's free but if I ask for it on the side I have to pay for it? By the way the salsa is not that good. Tacos are overpriced My two friends and I agreed on the same. And we are not coming back.
google avatar

Beverly U.

Yelp
One word, RACIST! I came here after seeing pictures on social media of people dipping their birria tacos in the broth. It's something I had been craving for a while so I decided to give this place a shot. As soon as I walked in, I could literally feel the tension and hostility. I immediately became uncomfortable and was rethinking ordering from this place because the vibes I was getting was not okay. However, I decided to still order because maybe I was just being paranoid. WRONG! I stepped up to the front to order and I'm not sure if the people working there didn't think I understood Spanish but I immediately heard them call me the N word amongst other rude things in Spanish. At this point I decided I would not give this racist establishment my hard earned money. I left before I lost my temper. I have never experienced such in my life and I hope that no one else has to go through this in the future.
google avatar

Juan G.

Yelp
Great food. Really good but gets dumb down by the amount of time you have to wait to get a few tacos. On average it's about a 40 minute wait. I feel they need employees with a sense of urgency while keeping the quality of the food the way it is. For the prices this food should come out with no more than a 10 minute wait I ordered my food at 10am I got my food at 10:37
google avatar

Frances C.

Yelp
Had a taco dorado, ended up ordering another one, very meaty. Ramen was good, lots of meat and Ramen,

francois b.

Yelp
Food is decent. Tacos were ok in the past. Not so good service. Waited 10 minutes and rude employees wouldn't even acknowledge it. Dont waste your time. Taco stand down the street is much better with even better service.
google avatar

Diana D.

Yelp
Cash only. The tacos are really good and flavorful, but they're a little dry so get them with the consume, and put lemon on them. The ramen was really flavorful, but they used instant noodles. If you order horchata know it's pre-bottled and not the real deal. Decent tacos I'd go back.
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
Hands down the best Birria tacos and consommé in all of Los Angeles! I've tried your favorite .... I make this drive from the South Bay about once a month, bypassing ~100 other Birria spots, because of how delicious this taco truck is and how overrated your favorite spot is. Be ready for a wait.
google avatar

Gypsy D.

Yelp
I used to really like this spot. I liked the tacos and i liked how close i live so it was convenient coming here every weekend or two. Sadly, the quality of the food has gone down, the prices have gone up, the service sucks (lady used to be nice but now shes rude af and gets easily annoyed). The WORST part about this place is the WAIT. Oh my goodness the wait is ridiculous. Twice i had wanted to order but the wait to get to the front of the line alone was about 30 min and would be told the food would take about 40 min to an hour so i left. BUT the other weekend i stopped by on my way to work and saw there was no line and only a few people sitting at the tables waiting for their food. I was like , yes it's my lucky day! So my bf and i order 4 tacos. We were told our wait would be 15 min. I thought damn thats kinda long for how unbusy it is but its doable. Well we actually wait for 45 min for our 4 little tacos. Really? 45 min for 4 tacos? I cant imagine how long people wait when its actually busy. Thats just crazy. I couldve literally gone home, taken a nap and come back. Got so much attitude when i simply asked what the status was of my order and if they had called out my number. For 3 dollars a taco i would hope its bomb or at least filling. Sadly it was not either. They used to be really good but i guess they're not made like they used to be. I would suggest they bring in another griddle to make more food at a time? So customers dont have to wait a ridiculous amount of time for tacos. Maybe hire more people, idk. Also, quality of the food shouldnt change just because you get better business.
google avatar

Guillermo M.

Yelp
FU*#&@@@@@k these tacos are the best! Always a line , always sell out , but so worth the wait?!! Come early , they can sell out fast , so good. Meat is so juicy and filled with flavor , the chili can be a bit spicy for non chili eaters .overall I think best around the area !!
google avatar

Kathi B.

Yelp
Good Birria! Friendly staff! Be careful if you are sensitive to spicy foods as the red salsa packs a punch! Huge cheesy quesadillas! Our only complaint is that they charge $2 for a small side cup of consume unlike other Birria places that give it to you complimentary.
google avatar

Alan C.

Yelp
I was the second customer on Saturday, I ordered a quesadilla, two tacos, and a mulita. The tacos and mulita were both good their birria and chili is good! But the quesadilla was not, I didn't like the drippy cheese they used it needs more flavor. One thing that I didn't like was the wait time. Even for being the second one to order they still took over 20 min for my order. Overall: They have great birria but don't waste your appetite on the quesadilla
google avatar

Fareh A.

Yelp
Tacos and consommé are on point!!! Have not had anything like them at least in LA or San Francisco's area. Here's why I'm only giving them 3 stars, though the meat is already made that same morning or the night before the wait to get your meal is over an hour. I personally think it not the taquero but the guys warming up the tortillas, perhaps another griddle??? The other issue I have is that I witnessed one of the guys spill the sauce on the concrete floor, he took the time to clean it up with a couple of towels BUT !!! He never changed his gloves and continued working with the handling of the food using the same gloves. They obviously have a great reputation and lots of followers, owner or rep needs to be on top of this because it can ruin a Great business! I know I will come back and will definitely recommend but I hope they take my comments into consideration.

Yelp
DISGUSTING!!!! Experience was terrible from beginning to end. Let me start by saying that these people do not take COVID seriously at ALL. The cook was flipping tortillas with his hands and eating Buffalo wings in between and licking the same fingers he was touching ALL the food!! More than half of the staff were not wearing their masks and they're all in a small space. The lady who took my order was eating a churro and wiping her hands on her jeans and was extremely rude. ON TOP OF ALL THAT, the food was terrible!!!!!! The birria had no flavor, taco shell was overly cooked the only decent thing was the consume but the meat was trash and it all tasted flavorless and poor quality. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Yelp
The birria tacos are good, not the best but good enough to satisfy hunger. However, they get two stars because the cashier needs to learn basic customer service skills cause she's rude af and I would not wanna come back to deal with her again. God forbid you need to clarify your order with her cause she will give you attitude and laugh at you as if you're an idiot for asking. I'm not the first review to complain about this girl, read on.

Yelp
Only cash. The roman birria soup is bomb. Seen it on tiktok and had to come try it. There was so much consome that I was able to get roman from home and add more and get more out of soup
