"Even as extreme nacho lovers, we reached a point in our research for this guide when we couldn't bear to consume another pile of fried tortilla chips covered in melted cheese. Then we checked back in on Birreria Villalobos. This Tijuana-style birria truck made us forget that we'd tried 20 nachos in one week. It was like falling in love with nachos all over again—this time with the help of juicy, spicy beef birria, fresh onion, cilantro, and a mountain of jack cheese. Considering the mountain of meat that comes on top, this thing could feed a family of four. But we happily finished the whole thing ourselves." - brant cox, sylvio martins, nikko duren, garrett snyder, arden shore

"One of the biggest stars to emerge from the Tijuana birria taco wars has been Birrieria Villalobos. The truck runs every day but Wednesday on the border of Boyle Heights and East LA, just north of the famed Los Cinco Puntos." - Farley Elliott

"This Tijuana-style birria truck showcases its slow-cooked beef birria in a multitude of ways. Whether it’s burritos, tacos dorados, tortas, or caldo you’re looking for, this mobile Boyle Heights spot has it. More importantly, tacos here are $1 during their Taco Tuesday special. But if you’re more like me and consider every day to be taco day, head over to Birrieria Villalobos whenever you feel like it for their delicious consommé that’s packed with tender meat, fresh onion, cilantro, and deep chile flavor. If you’re looking for something heavier, you can’t go wrong with their birria torta either. This massive sandwich is first soaked in spicy consommé so it gives in with each bite. It’s then filled with a mountain of meat, melted cheese, onions, and hot salsa roja for probably one of the biggest servings of birria you’ll find anywhere across LA. photo credit: Andrea D'Agosto Food Rundown Birria Quesataco The queso here isn’t a gooey layer of cheese, but almost a second crispy tortilla that wraps around this Tijuana-style birria. The whole taco is bathed in the consommé’s spices and chile flavor, from the stained tortillas to the meat itself, making for a delicious (but slightly too oily) taco. Mulita Like the quesataco but with a second tortilla on top, this sandwich-like taco is twice as spicy with twice the beef birria and consommé dying everything a glistening orange color. However, the cheese in the mulitas is more melted and less crispy, creating a tasty glue between the two oiled tortillas. Torta Beware: this torta is roughly the size of a football. This bolillo is stuffed to the brim with beef birria, onions, cilantro, and griddled cheese that’s both semi-melted and semi-crispy. We also love the truck’s hot salsa roja that we generously pour inside the torta for an extra smoky kick." - Sylvio Martins

I have been craving Birria Ramen for months. Finally get to LA (From NY) and put "Birria Ramen Truck" into google search. I went to the window and the lovely young lady that was there was so happy to see me. She was chatty and polite and very sweet. It cost a little over $16 dollars, but the bucket of ramen you get it large. I am finally tucking into it and I am SO happy. it's everything i've been waiting for. so much meat, so many noodles, so much soup. Plus hot sauce, lime wedges and radish. It's DELICIOUS. I honestly can't tell you how happy i am eating this right now 🥰

Came here on Taco Tuesday cause they have $1.25 tacos . Who doesn’t like $1.25 tacos ? We ordered 10 of them plus 2 jugos . It came out to like $22 dollars. The tacos were great ! I just didn’t like that they put the picante on the tacos . I appreciate it on the side. But it was good ! Def would come back on a Tuesday

I order the quesadilla con carne and the meat was salty. I wanted guacamole and Pico de Gallo and I got beans and rice. It costed me $10 so I didn't go back and complain next time I'll order from somewhere else.

This place was on point. Wow I wish I had one near by. When people talk about delicious LA Street food this is what they mean. These people also make a mean salsa so good and spicy.

I don’t think I need to tell everyone how amazing the food is here. I went finally for the first time and it was instant love after that first bite, the meat, the crunchy taco, the sauce, and that consume 👌perfection. Trust me when I say that this truck brakes the taco Tuesday rule. This is 365 tacos, I can eat this everyday, metaphorically speaking. Anyway I uploaded some shots of where it’s located because I got the lost the first time. Across the street from 5 puntos and right outside el super grocery store. if you haven’t tried the food here your missing out.

I would have rate them a 5 but after Sundays visit (11/28) I'm knocking out 2 stars. 1. The cashier was eating the whole 40 mins my family and I were waiting for our food and then we ate there as well. 2. I'm not sure what world they live in but they hardly put any cilantro or onion in your items. (See picture). When I approached them to ask them for cilantro and onion, the cashier (who was literally chewing food) was rude about it and when I said that they hardly put any on my items she just shrugged her shoulders like saying it wasn't her problem and proceeded to charge me $0.50 for condiments that should have been there already. I dont mind paying if I was asking for more than what I was given. I was given nothing to start off. So when going i suggest u ask for the onion and cilantro on the side!
