Birrieria Canelo's Estilo Michoacan

Sometimes I do inspections in this city (not food related), and when I’m in the area I try a different birria spot every time (there’s many). I really like this one. Super tasty. I had 2 tacos de cabeza and 3 tacos dorados de birria with cheese. Both tortilla types were really good. The birria was fresh and the consomé was super tasty, not salty or overpowering. The cabeza was soo good too! Soft and savory. Nothing was too greasy. The red salsa was rich, not watery (Mildly spicy if you’re Mexican, and probably more spicy for those that don’t always eat spicy.. try it anyway). I didn’t try other salsa. All veggies fresh too. The place is very small (only 5 tables). They take Apple Pay. I’ll be back.

I can truly say I am satisfied. The Consome was Bomb! Won me over immediately. The Birria was just perfect. I hope they make Hard shell Tacos ASAP! It was one of the things I was looking forward too. So far this will be my go to spot.

Excellent place for birria. Authentic flavors and great service. Everything looks clean and made on the spot. Handmade tortillas paired with the the consome makes this place different. You will get hooked. A good choice of drinks. Sodas, aguas frescas as well.

Very good birria, the tacos were good and the broth as well, the broth is free when you buy 2 tacos

Came in with some friends to try out the Birrieria tacos because I heard so many good things about them. Personally not a fan of goat meat, but decided to give it a try anyway. Though they didn't convert me, I can see why so many people have raved about this place. It was probably the best tasting goat I've ever had. Full of flavor and the tortillas are fresh made in house. Also had some Asada tacos that were also very tasty and full of flavor as well. Would definitely come back for the Asada as I said goat just doesn't do it for me. If you are a fan of goat I think this is a good place to give a try.

This place is bomb! Honestly there are a lot of spots around and we have tried most of them but this is the best around town! The consume is so good and birria is soft and flavorful. We also had the quesadilla, birria tacos and tacos de cachete and they were all so good. The tortillas are handmade and the salsas are fire! No pictures because we ate it all up!

$35 Dollars a pound? Is crazy

It was good, we received the wrong order so did not get to eat what I wanted to try. Consome was different but give it a try.

This place sells birria de chivo. The birria here is so delicious that I came once and ive been coming back over and over again. The birria de chivo from this location is unlike any other place that sells birria de chivo. This place also sells burritos, quesadillas and tacos. I tried a little of everything from this location and was happy with my purchases. Pros -Good Food -Lots Of Parking -Birria De Chivo Cons -Its Far From Where I Live

Muy buena birria con mucho sabor y mas que nada que es de chivo. Ordene tacos dorados que incluían queso que usualmente no es de mi agrado pero si estaban buenos. También ordene tacos de cachete que estaban buenos con tortillas hechas a mano. El consomé fue mi favorito ya que no esta muy encondimentado y tiene su sabor a la carne y no tanto a especies. El servicio es muy rápido apesar de estar bien ocupados mas en los domingos por la madrugada con medio mundo llegando crudo. Los empleados un poco desabridos y desanimados atendiendo pero no de mala manera. Es pequeño el negocio y hay pocas mesas para comer adentro pero también cuentan con mesas y area para comer afuera.

Would definitely not recommend this place because of how greasy my order was for take out. When I told the server about the grease spilling out inside the to go bag they did not really seem to care. Will not be going back to this place.

Way overpriced food Portions are a rip off staff is not attentive and have a care free attitude they got my order wrong and acted like I had ordered incorrectly I asked no bone got bones personally would not recommend to any one. Seating is extremely small.

Small joint with limited seating literally like 3 tables however the tacos are legit. Here for the birria and it didn't disappoint. Prices are reasonable about $2.50 plus tax per taco. Refreshing homemade bottled drinks are around $6. Take home consome birria broth is about $5. The sauces that they have are quite spicy so Tread lightly. I love spicy but it was a bit much for me. Nonetheless, I was excited to be able to stumble upon this gem. They close early at 3pm everyday so take note.

Good food and fast service. The tortillas were good and the consomé was great! All around great experience.

No restrooms and they need salt control for their broth Prices are fair, handmade yellow corn tortillas, all meats are tasty but they all taste the same for some reason

Small "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant - you know they are authentic. Birria was delicious, and the sides (limes, onions, salsa) are self-serve, so not to take advantage, but you're also not getting jipped. 10/10. I did take it to go, as I said the dining space is limited (I think like 4-ish tables.

Wow! What can I say? I know how to make birria and this place is so great! It's a very small place but the flavor is so yummy. Hand made tortillas and you can either have dry birria with consomé on the side or birria con consomé. The service is great; the owners are very nice and they go out of their way to please you. If you happen to be in the neighborhood swing by and you will not regret it and if you live far it's worth it to make the trip. Thank you for your service. Que puedo decir? Yo se hacer birria y este lugar está muy rico el sazón. Es un lugar pequeño. Hacen las tortillas recién hechas y puede comer su birria seca con consomé al lado o en consomé. El servicio es muy grato y los dueños hacen todo lo posible por complacerte. Si vives cerca o pasas por el vecindario no dudes en comer ahí; no te arrepentirás; y si vives lejos vale la pena el viaje. Gracias por su servicio!

Bomb!!! Loved this place. Will be going over more often as soon as I walked in the smell. Omg!!! Mot mentioning I'm a very picky eater. Don't like to try new places. Lol

I honestly haven't had Birria this good or this type since the rancho in Michoacán. The meat just hits different. You can smell the animal in a good way. I had a tack de cachete and let me tell you! Fire!! I had a few mixed and the consume as well. In al it was really good. En español estaba buenísimo todo. La carne tierna y el consumé delicioso! Volveré con más hambre!

The most skimpy birrieria ever but it taste good I work near this place I have come a couple times the first few times were good later on they decided change things up and I honestly don't like the change of the prices and the portions of food Negative in general 1. It's to over price for everything 2. Not enough to eat very little portions 3. The service is slow even if there isn't a line outside when it's not busy 4. They don't service the condiments there's always something missing 5. The drinks are $3 and over 6. They forget to add on onions and celantro 7. There's no where to park Positive in general 1. The food does actually taste good 2. The tortillas are hand made 3. They have some variety of meats 4. The sauces are also tasty That's about it I honestly only would recommend those who like to spend money on over priced tacos with good tasting tacos But not worth my money or to others that don't like to spend soo much

I love a hole in the wall that has good food like this place. I had the birria soup. The rich, flavorful broth is what I will remember. When I got my soup though, it did not look like the picture, at all, from the menu. The pic shows big chunks of meat and bones piled high above the bowl full of broth. In my soup, you couldn't see anything but liquid that needed to be skimmed of the fat, big time. Under that was very small chunks of meat. Disappointing presentation for sure. I would try the tacos next time. I can still taste the broth though!

Im impressed I was in the area and was hungry craving some birria This place came up and i tried 3 tacos de birria they came with free consome and i also tried the agua fresca de piña you should try it Everything from the tortilla meat salsa everything tastes fresh!

I brought my niece for her birthday and definitely making a spot for Sunday crudas because this birria is really bomb as heck

Stopped by this afternoon with my family and we had an amazing lunch. Handmade tortillas and generous servings. I had tacos de Birria and they were amazing, meat was flavorful and tender. People working at this establishment were very friendly and provided great service. Highly recommend !

My favorite birria EVER. I'm really picky when it comes to birria bc I swore no one makes it like my aunts but here we are... coming every Saturday for some birria tacos and consomé. The hand made tortillas are what makes it so much better!!! The red oil salsa is to die for. These are my favorite types of restaurants. The little hole in the walls that makes you want to come every day!!!!

So let me start of by saying that this place is a hidden gem in the city of Maywood. I came across this place through a friend so I decided to check it out. I'm not very fond of goat meat birria because in some places they leave you with the after taste but O M G this place is BOMB! tried a couple of items on the menu. Started with the "Birria con Caldo" plate and I have to say the small size is good enough for two people but you'll want your own lol. The meat is really tender and the juice has the perfect taste. It comes with hand made tortillas on the side. They're the taco size which I feel are the perfect size. They"re really good and freshly made. Then we tried the "Tacos de Birria" which are also delicious and the tortillas for the tacos are also handmade. They give you consomé on the side which you can pour over your tacos and you SHOULD because it makes them even better. Whatever you don't finish you can prep it with onion, cilantro, and lime and drink the rest. Sounds weird but if you're Mexican you'll know what I'm talking about. If you're not just trust me and try it lol. Then we also tried their "Quesadilla de Birria" added consomé to that as well and oh lord amazing. To end it we had a "Quesitaco de Birria" which is just like a regular taco but with cheese, which was also really good I added consomé to this as well and it was even better. I have to say everything is good. They have different meats such as Asada, cachete, and cabeza but they were all sold out. Overall this place was really good. It's really tiny but really good. It's family owned and you can tell the owners care about their business. Very humble and sweet people and really make the customer feel appreciate it! I would pay them a visit. Definitely coming back here! P.S. they take cash, debit, and applepay :)

This place is really good I've been here twice already and it has become one of my favorite place the birria and the consome it's really good it's a small place but it's so worth it.... Even my daughter loves it and she is a picky eater..... I really recommend this place if you want something to hit the spot....

First time here this place is very good I enjoyed my birria tacos the salsa very spicy the price reasonable we'll come back again.

It's a little hole in the wall joint that serves the most delicious birria de chivo around. The tacos are amazing with handmade tortillas. If you want moist delicious tasting birria come here. The meat is so tender it falls off the bone. This is how real birria is made with goat not beef. They have specialty tacos de cabeza, labio and cachete. They are amazing with such great flavor. Their salsa bar and condiments are excellent. The handmade tortillas taste like you're back in Mexico. Si gustan una birria de chivo deliciosa vengan aquí. Tortillas hechas a mano que se van a recordar de su pueblo en Mexico. La carne bien tierna que se cae del hueso. Un sabor muy delicioso que no se encuentra en otro lugar. Se los recomendó.

Best place to get tacos ever ! Bomb ass food this place is a must. The place is small but dont judge it customer service is really good ! Salvador is the chef 10 years plus of experience and man it shows.

They are very prejudiced for not knowing Spanish. They serve their people first before anyone else. Would not recommend or come again. Poor customer service. Would give 0 stars if I can.

Came in here to try it out. Did not disappoint. Is a hidden spot on Atlantic. Small place inside. I took my pot not knowing if they were gonna help me out, to my surprise they did. The only hiccup was that in pot orders there's no tortillas, you'll need to buy tortilla orders which they are pricy, $1.50 / 5 small tortillas. It didn't matter because they are home made and they Are delicious. I love how everything is finely chopped, the salsas are amazing. Our to go to place every Sunday!

1) the birria: was delish, but a bit salty 2) quesitacos: very good, but i prefer my tortilla crispy 3) tortillas: handmade, good, but nothing mind blowing 4) hot sauce: both red & green super spicy Overall, pretty good birria. Fyi: if you use credit/debit, there is a .75 cent charge.

No pidan el plato de birria solo les dan mucho caldo con poca carne y no tiene baños para los clientes así que si estás visitando de lejos no te recomiendo comer Ayi. Yo no lo recomendaría #1 engañan a su cliente con las fotos #2 no hay baños para sus clientes como dije mas si bas pasado y no eres un local. Sus platos deven ser bien servidos.

The best birria tacos I've had, and I've gone to many birria places. The tortillas are made by hand fresh for every taco, the meat is tender, and all their salads are delicious. I can't wait to come back for more. They also have quesatacos which aren't crunchy like most places that offer them crunchy, but I loved these so much more!

Great service, great food, and reasonably priced. Go and you will not regret it. The birria is soooo good and not dry. Try the quesatacos!

We came to Cali for a holiday vacation and we're looking for something to eat. The location is small and we were a party of 11 but the did accommodate for all of us. The hostess/server is super sweet and very friendly. The food is delicious and super authentic Mexican food with tortillas hechas a mano aka hand made. Very reasonably priced and lots of flavor. Will not disappoint.

This place changed the birria game! Seriously didn't expect the flavors to be so good but they were. The meat was tender and the salsas fire! The tacos de birria and cachete were amazing as was their quesadilla. This place has me craving birria all the time now! Try it you won't regret it!

Really good. Birria was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. House made corn tortillas and sides of salsa, chili oil etc. Great price for an amazing meal.

Came here to try the birria and order the the pound Birria seca for two and I can tell you this is good compare to others I tried, hand made tortillas were killer and the consome in the cup kept coming really good they do offer bones if your the one who enjoys them...

Wow this place is awesome. Definitely the definition of a hole in the wall super duper amazing. I had ordered two tacos with cheese and I had to go back and order another taco.The consume is super yummy too. I'm so glad I came upon this on yelp because it's super close to my work and absolutely tasty.

This place is so delicious me and the wife came in for BIRRIERIA and let me tell you it was the bomb!!!! We're just driving through for work and I'm glad I looked them up because this is real authentic Birrieria so we give them 5 stars.
