The 30 Best Restaurants in Guadalajara, Mexico - Eater

"The only question here is whether you want a large or small order of goat birria — but even that isn’t a question since you’ll want to go big on the birria de chivo, which will live in your memory long after you’ve burned off the calories. Goat birria is everywhere in town, but Tapatíos have faithfully come to this humble Ciudad del Sol birrieria since 1958. They come for delicious steaming bowls of well-spiced birria, rich with vaporous, fruity adobo and served with warm corn tortillas. Choose your cuts and add a squeeze of lime, diced onions, and cilantro. Pair with an ice-cold Modelo to experience the preferred hangover cure in Jalisco. [$]" - Bill Esparza

I had tacos and my wife had the complete plate - both with beef. Initially I ordered 2 tacos, but they were so good, I ordered two more. Our server spoke some English which was better than our little Spanish and she took excellent care of us. We loved this restaurant.

Muy sabroso! This was the single best food I had in my three-week visit to Jalisco in Feb-March 2024. I ate lunch at Birrieria La Victoria on three separate occasions. La Victoria is the real deal -- and, by far, it offered the best of the four goat birrierias I tried around the city. The broth (consomme) had an incredibly delicious deep flavor, and the meat was equally tasty with a lovely light crispness. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Ste. Teresita is a mere 15-minute walk from La Colonia. Highly recommended!

Some of the best birria I’ve ever had. Very simple place without all the bells and whistles. But when the food is this good, who needs ‘em? Price is right and food comes out quick. Come get you some!

I found a hair in my tortillas but everything else was perfect. I’d do it all over again. Trust me.

If you are looking for a little taste of Jalisco then look no further. Birrieria La Victoria is typical of the Guadalajara style of birria, but better than most. They have been serving birria out of this location for generations and have a strong local following. The place has a retro vibe and is decorated with pictures old school Guadalajara, with a touch of the Chivas Soccer team The order comes in a bowl with broth or you can order by the taco. The specialty is the goat birria. If you like a lean cut get a maciza, if you like something closer to the bone you can get costilla ot peinecillo. If you like liver try the machito. This place is a jem. A Guadalajara classic you have to try!!

Decent birria, relatively small portions. I like the hand made tortillas. But I prefer pepe el torito nearby (no hand made tortillas though).
