Known for its modern, rustic Italian cuisine, Birroteca is a beloved Italian restaurant in Baltimore where you can enjoy seasonal pizza and pasta dishes, all washed down with over 60 craft beers and wines. Located inside a beautifully restored historic stone mill, Birroteca features stunning stone walls both inside and out, complemented by drop-down ceiling lights and wooden flooring, which adds to its rustic charm. Any artisan pizzas at this Italian restaurant in Baltimore will make your taste buds sing, but for good measure, the Honey Belly is a standout choice. This pizza is topped with roast pork belly, roasted peppers, pepperoncini and sweet chili honey. It's the perfect combo of sweet, spicy and salty.

Great spot for a meal in a lovely location with ample parking! Every dish we tried was delicious, except for the pasta with pesto, which was unfortunately a bit bitter and served cold. Despite that, I would definitely recommend this place for both lunch and dinner. Looking forward to coming back!

Loved this place ‼️Came with family for an early dinner 🍽️. The pizza 🍕 is awesome Duck with dick egg 🥚. Not the proper name but that's on top. Delicious! Will definitely be back.

We love Birroteca! One of my favorite date and special occasion places. The staff is exceptional. They care about you and your experience. They are well versed in the menu and can help pair dishes/wine. The menu is the perfect size with a nice assortment of options. The Brussels sprouts are a must-have. We had the mushroom pizza (gluten free) this time and were very happy with it. If you are open to an alternative pizza (think flatbread), the duck/fig jam one is highly suggested! Enjoy!

Google
Very nice restaurant. A bit out of the way, but GPS takes you right there. We had a reservation, and we were seated immediately. The place is clean and neat. I'm a fan of tablecloths, and Birroteca uses them. The food was fresh and delicious, and the portions were generous. Side dishes come in their own plates and are sized for sharing. We arrived during happy hour which means that some drinks and some appetizers are reduced in price. My wife and her cousin shared a pizza, and there was still enough pizza left over to take home. I had the P. E. I. mussels in red sauce as my main course. It's an appetizer, but there's plenty of food in the bowl. There's free parking in their lot. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. I recommend this place. And I recommend that you get a reservation. The Biroteca gets plenty of customers.

This place is super laid back, but food is fine dining quality. We were basically licking our plates after every course! Great cocktails and drink selection, too.

Google
I cannot believe it’s taken me this long to try this place. The food is amazing, and they have so many GF options with knowledgeable staff. The menu is a somewhat rustic Italian, with fair prices and homemade pizzas/pastas. The GF pasta with bolognese was amazing, and my partner loved the pizza. We also split the grilled ricotta salata appetizer, which was fresh and well balanced. We also enjoyed our cocktails. We will definitely be back!

Google
Birrotecca is a fantastic spot for a celebratory gathering! We recently had an adult birthday party here and were thoroughly impressed. The food was absolutely awesome – everyone raved about their dishes. The drinks were also very satisfying, with a great selection. The atmosphere was lively and perfect for a fun occasion. Highly recommend!

Google
They have excellent gluten-free Pizza. Was there last night and we ordered two pizzas, forget to mention we needed gluten free. So they had to make two more and were really cool about not charging extra pizzas we couldn’t eat. It’s also a very beautiful space.

Yelp
Foods amazing, the ambiance is amazing, and the owner and service are so kind! A must try dinner spot! The pasta is refreshing, flavorful, and doesn't leave you feeling bloated or heavy afterwards. The brick oven pizza has some of the best crust I've ever had. Perfect mix of crunchy and soft! And you have to try the vodka wines, 8 dollars for a full glass that will last you the whole dinner. I'd reccomend the lemon vodka wine, it's deliciously refreshing. And I have to give the biggest props to the service. Not only is it dog friendly, but they brought out a bowl of water, and treats! I've been here a few times with my dog and they remembered him, and came over and said hi. They just make you feel very welcome to eat there. Great place to eat outside the city, hidden away from the hustle and bustle, but with flavorful, gourmet food. And run by very kind folks.

Yelp
Came here recently for the first time since before the pandemic and had a great time! The ambiance is relaxed but still feels nice and the service was really great too. Highly recommend the brussel sprouts, the duck pizza, and the zeppoles with a scoop of Taharka Brothers ice cream!

Yelp
Still very much one of my fave restaurants. On a Friday night at 5p, my group of 8 was the only table in the main dining area. It started to fill up around 6pm. GLOWS: -The mushroom pizza is still some of my fav! -Service was patient and efficient , as we tricked in because of the rain. -The bartenders are so good at making all kinds of drinks!---and pretty mocktails! GROWS: -The took the apple cake off the menu! I need an explanation because it was sooo very good!!

Yelp
i came here without a reservation so unfortunately was not able to get a table but we were able to be seated at the bar. the waitstaff was pleasant and it was a full bar. we ordered the arugula salad, which was light and pleasant and exactly what you would expect. for the mains we got the duck leg and the margherita pizza. i really enjoyed the duck leg, it was very crispy and sweet, and the potatoes were excellent too. however, i was not impressed with the margherita pizza. it was just ok, lacking flavor, and i would honestly prefer the margherita from home slyce. water refills were minimal because it was so busy but sufficient. the two people i was out with both had food poisoning after this, but it's unfair to attribute it to the restaurant in my opinion. i would probably come here again if given the chance, if you're looking for a nicer dining experience that still has a cozy feel i would recommend it.

Yelp
Wonderful food and pours. We stopped in Sunday at 5pm for dinner with our oldest son and his family. Everyone ordered the pizzas except for me and the one-year old. She had her usual, three meatball spaghetti and I ventured with the duck leg with arugula salad and duck fat fried potatoes. I was very much impressed. The three other adults were equally impressed with their pizzas. Service was outstanding. The Caribbean nitro stout was a treat to enjoy with my meal. The appetizers of fried chickpeas and the Brussels sprouts were excellent, as always. The building itself is unique with its stone walls and proximity to the Jones Falls. It has a large parking area. We recommend making reservations.

Yelp
For two, here's what you should get : -Spicy Spiced Crispy Chick Peas -Burrata Cheese Bruschetta -Special: Cod Risotto -Linguine With Clams -House-Made Limoncello Cake and ice cream -Zeppoles* (Italian donuts) -Take home for Sister: Gemelli (spinach green olive pesto and pasta) Note: Sooo good! Romantic vibe, varied seating at tables, near windows, the bar or outside under canopy. Our waitress was great and efficient with the courses and bow-wow bags! Mom and I loved it! And we got takeout for Sister: Gemelli (spinach green olive pesto and pasta) Note: Soo good!

Yelp
Always love coming here!! It's consistently delicious!! And happy hour prices kick butt if you can make it in!! The grapefruit vodka wine is my favorite refreshing cocktail!!

Yelp
The mushroom bolognase is the only thing I've ever had because it so good. Service is good. Ambiance is quiet and upscale but not pretentious.

Yelp
Well well, what can I say? I really really really wanted to love this place. But this place wouldn't let me be great. After attending a local Yelp event, I chose this place over one of my favorites because it was nearby and it has some really good Yelp reviews so I was really interested in visiting and sharing the same experience. I did not share that same experience. My Yelp friend and I decided to give this place a visit. When we 1st entered, there was a older guy named Mike. He was initially personable although really wasn't too helpful in identifying 2 seats. I asked about 2 bar seats in front of us and he told us no one was sitting there but it looks like someone has to clean it up. And that was it. He had no interest in wiping down the bar area for us or making arrangements with someone else to do it. That was a little bothersome. Another staff member (from the bar) did eventually agree to wipe the cluttered counter and we were pleased. Immediately when we sat down and requested water. ... I'm going to lessen the suspense about the water... we never got it. Collectively we ordered... - Mai Kinda Tai (Apricot Allspice Rum, Orgeat Syrup Grand Marnier, Lime Grapefruit) - Brussels Sprouts (Black Garlic Aioli, Chili Oil, Coppa) - Meatballs (House Ricotta, Tomato Sauce) - Crispy Pork Belly Soon after ordering, we noticed an older couple walked in and not only were they greeted ecstatically, the older guy Mike actually cleaned off the bar area for them. Next, the bar guy Tim that was assisting us and never brought us waters, IMMEDIATELY brought them two waters. I didn't even hear them ask for water !! I'm not sure why we couldn't have water this evening but we just couldn't have water this evening. Waited 15+ minutes for bill after asking for it. Another 5 minutes while waiting for cc's and signature receipts. Something positive... The food was absolutely amazing! The food came out within 7 to 10 minutes of ordering, beautifully plated and delicious! Perfect temperature presentation! Sadly I was considering this place as one of my birthday event locations but that will not happen!! As much as I absolutely love the food, I can't go anywhere EVER where I'm not appreciated. It's 1 thing if the food wasn't as great but the customer service was bad and intentional. I can't deal with bad customer service. Do better!

Yelp
Had a great experience at happy hour at Birroteca! With happy hour in the whole restaurant until 6, we were able to sit at a table and enjoy some great drink and appetizer specials! They offer Evo draft 10 Oz pours for $3 which is an awesome deal, and house wines for $5. I love a good red house wine (here they offer a really great Pinot Noir). For food we had the brussel sprouts from the happy hour menu which was a surprisingly large portion easily shared between 2! We also shared the mushroom risotto (amazing flavor--honestly a contender for best risotto in the city) and the cipolla pizza. The pizza was also delicious! Amazing flavor once again. Another highlight was that our server was super knowledgeable about the beer selection and was very friendly. Would absolutely come back to try more from the menu!

Yelp
Visited Birroteca on a quiet Saturday eve around 8ish and found one of many open seats at the bar. This place was bustling but not packed. I ordered an Aperol Spritz, Margherita Pizza, and the Italian Kit Kat for dessert. The pizza was crispy with the perfect dough:sauce:mozz ratio. The sauce is simple yet tasty. I'll definitely be back to try a pasta or risotto dish because on this particular visit I came with the mission to specifically fulfill a pizza craving. That said, cheers to a great time!

Yelp
Went to dinner on Mother's Day, and the pizza took an incredibly long time to arrive. Two of us ordered a different entree (not pizza), and we finished our dinner before the pizzas even arrived. Not sure what was going on but there was no apology or update on behalf of the team during the delay. I was disappointed in the service.

Yelp
Loved this place. Felt like I was in rural Italy. Their happy hour is pretty awesome, I got grapefruit and vodka which was refreshing. Their shrimp risotto was extremely delicious and I'll be coming back just for that. We also got the pizza which was great too. Spacious seating and ambience was cool.

Yelp
I'd been to Birroteca a handful of times back in the day, but it had been years since I visited. I went last Saturday with some girls who regularly eat and drink here, which was awesome. They knew all the staff, so we got VIP treatment. However, the bartenders and such were super nice and I'm sure they give everyone the VIP treatment, lol. That said, I like the looks of the space though I recalled it differently from what it actually was. It seems smaller, with a rectangular bar in the middle of the room with tables and chairs surrounding it. It's got a gentleman's club vibe to me, but I'm comfortable with that aesthetic. I ordered a draft beer, plus the salmon entree. The girls got some appetizers, meatballs was one. Everything I tried was pretty good, though I think they oversold the meatballs (I was content to eat just one). The salmon was in a more soupy situation than I was expecting but overall it was definitely edible. I'll be back, likely with the regulars. VIP!

Yelp
I can't wait to get back to Birroteca Baltimore! While I haven't paid a visit since B.C (before Covid-19), I could never forget the perfectfully flavorful and crispy brussel sprouts from Birroteca. As a brussel sprouts fanatic (don't knock it till you try it), I strongly believe that Birroteca has the best brussel sprouts in all of Baltimore. That's right, folks! They're crispy on the outside but tender in the middle. Glazed with some sort of balsamic, magical concoction and finished with a spicy/savory aioli. They also have some great pizza choices too! I've ordered the Duck Duck Goose pizza before and enjoyed the mish mash of ingredients. The one item on the menu that I didn't have a great experience with was the steak. Full disclosure, I actually didn't try the steak myself but I was with a friend who ordered it. It was GIGANTIC! A fantastically large slab of meat that looked delicious. The odd part was that Birroteca didn't have any steak sauce. I don't expect every restaurant to have fancy house made steak sauce, but it is surprising to serve such a large steak and not even have A1 to offer. We asked our server for some steak sauce and at first she said they didn't have any but then she came back with a mixture from the kitchen. It was mostly ketchup and did not taste great. Overall, I highly recommend Birroteca! I can't wait to stop by sometime soon and be reunited with those beautiful brussels.

Yelp
Birroteca is a solid 4 stars. A few items are truly excellent, most are good, no major misses. Whatever else you get for starters make sure you try the crunchy chickpeas. They are really delicious, not too crispy (some places these end up being nearly burnt) but still with a nice satisfying crunch. The brussels sprouts, such a trendy item these days, are actually not that good here. They are a bit too sweet and over-fried the sauce overwhelms the actual sprout itself. The pastas are fine but not outstanding, the mushroom risotto was tastier than the orecchiette and the price point is reasonable at $21 for the risotto and $19 for the orecchiette. One of the tastiest items on the menu is the duck duck goose pizza. The sweetness of the fig onion jam and the acidity of the balsamic complement the fatty deliciousness of the duck. This is a must try if you're coming here. They serve Taharka Brothers ice cream for dessert along with some other interesting looking options. If you haven't had it, the Taharka Brothers honey graham ice cream is absolutely phenomenal. This is a great place to bring kids, especially if you come early. Parent-pro-tip, make a reservation as far in advance as you can and ask for one of the tables with a bench. They're perfect for smaller kids to squirm around without causing chaos.

Yelp
Loved the food, very obviously all made from scratch. cozy neighborhood hidden gem. We can't wait to get there again. Industrial interior is an old factory which is cool, but I took off one star bc the lighting was hurting my eyes from glare. Definite must if you are near, and worth it as a destination.
google avatar

Yelp
Went with a couple friends for a post-gym meal and Birroteca did not disappoint. Service was very friendly and gracious. Food was really good. I felt like the Brussels sprouts could've used a bit more seasoning but they were still pretty good. The spicy fennel sausage pizza was my favorite. Overall, a great experience.

Yelp
Best pizza i ever eaten in Baltimore!!! So freaking good. Wish the bar was a little brighter; also they had the heater on that had us sweating. But delicious.

Jayce G.

Yelp
Some of the best food and drink in Baltimore, especially their pizza and pasta. Great.

Vivian J.

Yelp
We were at an event next door and decided to grab a bite to eat. The bar area was packed, and we had to wait until they cleared a spot for us. My friend and I decided to share a few appetizers. We thoroughly enjoyed the Brussel sprouts with black garlic aioli- -chili oil- coppa, Meatballs with house ricotta- tomato sauce, and crispy pork belly- with apple butter, arugula & fennel salad. All the dishes were fresh and delicious. The Brussel sprouts were nice and crisp, the meatballs had the right amount of sauce and ricotta, and the apple butter with the pork belly was a perfect yummy combination. The service wasn't excellent, and we never received our water or very much attention from the bartender, but the food was delicious.

Yelp
I've wanted to come here forever but it always looked packed (pre covid). Well, I had the dining experience of my dreams recently. I cannot wait to visit again. One of my girlfriends and I decided to stop in as they didn't need a reservation at the time. The service was good. But the food? The food was amazing! I can only have gluten free pizza (Celiac) and theirs was out if this world! It's always a crapshoot for me because I never know if I'll feel sick or if it will be just another lackluster crust. Not here! We enjoyed the calamari, pizzas, and bubbly. It was phenomenal. See y'all again soon!

Yelp
Birroteca is our favorite neighborhood bar and pizza joint. Cozy vibes and always fun sitting at the bar for a casual night out! Pizza is good - only wish it was Neapolitan! Service is great.
google avatar

Yelp
After a long day and week, this was a great gem for some delicious eats. First time here and it will not be the last. 4 stars due to the length of time it took to order food, receive drink, and get check. Sat at the bar top, as a single, tables were for reservations. I had the spicy chickpea as an appetizer, absolutely everything! Ordered the Mushroom Pizza and it was perfect! Wanted to try the Salmon & Polenta cakes and it was subpar compared to the flavor of the previously mentioned dishes. Moderate to noisy, but not unusual for a bar style restaurant. Looking forward to trying again in the near future.
google avatar

Natalia G.

Yelp
Food was great with big portions. Ordered the red mussels for appetizer which was good and much bigger than I expected. For my entree I got the shrimp risotto, also delicious. For drinks the "strawberry bite" and "mai kinda tai". Both were tasty and seems to be strong at first but wore off pretty quickly. I really wanted their senseless violettes drink but they had run out, which was unfortunate for 7-8pm on a Thursday when they were a fair amount of customers. If it's a popular drink I feel like they should make sure they have enough, especially for a busy dinner hour. Atmosphere is laid back. Outdoor seating, lots of parking space (the lot is dirt/rocks though). Affordable pricing. Worth a trip.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants and my favorite places in Baltimore. The food here is just excellent. Italian focused with solid bar food. The food is fresh and made from scratch. The service here is great. The bar has an excellent selection of beers and wine. The pizza here is crispy and delicious. The meatballs are one of the best ive had. The pasta dishes are made fresh and the flavors reflect it. This is a chill spot nice enough for a date night or just a chill spot to meet with friends. Definitely recommend if you are in Baltimore.
google avatar

Yelp
Kicked off restaurant week with this classic. We stopped in on Sunday for the game and were surprised by how much space there was. Either way, we shared the Baltimore restaurant week menu. It actually has enough food for 2 moderately hungry people! W started with the meatballs which looked amazing and tasted intensely homemade. Absolute perfection! Then, the margherita pizza! Great basic pizza with good crunch but nothing out of this world. The last course was cannolis which were a perfect ending to this Italian dinner! Their 10 oz drinks were also $3 if you go the restaurant week special so definitely try out the different drafts they have! Last plug is for their wonderful service which always had our experience in mind!

Yelp
To celebrate my birthday, my husband made a reservation at Birroteca. We were warmly greeted and given the table he requested on Open Table. Tim, our server, came right over. He was very friendly and attentive without being intrusive. My husband always enjoys a Rye Manhattan and Birroteca makes a really good one. We were surprised that they could not make a Southern Comfort Old Fashion as they did not have Southern Comfort on the bar. Not a problem, we ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio by La Feria from Veneto. We told Tim we were not in a rush. We were slightly surprised when they brought our appetizers and salad at the same time. Our most favorite appetizer is the Burrata Cheese Bruschetta which has melted grape tomatoes and basil on top of the bruschetta. Our only disappointment was the bruschetta was not toasted well - it was limp. The Kale salad was fresh with beets, hazelnuts, and burrata cheese dressed with a white balsamic vinaigrette and lemon-honey drizzle. While we were still enjoying our appetizers and salad, they brought out my husband's dinner entree. We requested that they take it back as we were not ready for our main courses. For our main courses, my husband had the Homemade Pappardelle with Wild Boar Bolognese and Parmesan. I really like the Duck Duck Goose - a very interesting pizza topped with Duck Confit, Fig-Onion Jam, Balsamic, Fontina & Asiago, and a Duck Egg. We were both thrilled with our main courses. For my birthday, the restaurant treated me to an Italian Kit Kat (with a lighted candle), which was a really decadent dessert with dark chocolate crunch, chocolate truffle, hazelnut mouse, sea salt, and caramel. Oh my, I was in heaven! My husband is a lover of ice cream, and he thoroughly enjoyed the Taharka Brothers Chocolate Love.

Tyler B.

Yelp
Best Italian food in the city!! Have to try the bolognese and the itilian Kit Ka!!! atmosphere is great not too loud and the drinks are properly made!!!

Yelp
My friend and I came here for happy hour and had an excellent time! We sat at the bar, and our bartender (as well as the other staff at the bar) were incredible - so fun to talk to and super attentive. I love that they do 10 oz pours; it enabled me to try three different Evolution Brewing drafts which were all great. We also shared two of the happy hour snacks - the brussels sprouts and the burrata bruschetta. The brussels sprouts were pretty good but nothing special; however, the bruschetta was incredible. With such an extensive draft list and excellent service, I have a feeling this will become a favorite spot of mine for happy hour!
google avatar

Santana H.

Yelp
Great place for some different food and to catch up with friends or for a date. Good atmosphere. Location was a little iffy but that does affect the restaurant! Brussel sprout app was the only disappointing meal, they were very over cooked to the point of almost being burnt. All of the desserts were very good.

Yelp
Amazing evening at @birroteca_bmore in #Baltimore All of it was amazing...some of the Best Meatballs I've ever had. Pasta was great..Pizza was great, Drinks were great... dessert...#zepolle were great Amazing evening...glad we came here while we are in Baltimore for a few hours

Yelp
Food was very good. Portions were huge! And desert was spectacular. Service could have been better and they don't do separate checks, but otherwise, a wonderful experience
google avatar

James C.

Yelp
Food punches above its weight class. $27 for two delectable sweet glazed duck legs, roasted (fried??) potatoes, and arugula side salad?! $23 gourmet pizza for two? Most apps in the $10-13 range. 5 star food at reasonable prices! However, the service was lack luster. Seemed like one waitress was covering all of the main dining room herself. She may have been. But she was also chatting/joking a little to much and not exactly hustling. Our group of four would have had another 2 rounds of drinks and dessert if we were not waiting with empty drinks for a quarter of our evening. Raise the prices. Hire more staff. This place is so close to being awesome.
google avatar

Sam L.

Yelp
Hands down some of the best pizza I've had. Would definitely recommend the duck duck pizza. Also the brussel sprouts are good. All in all great place to go if you want to try something different from Normal pizzas.
google avatar

Bryan G.

Yelp
Our friends in Baltimore brought us here for dinner and I like how the place look like. It reminds me of Brooklyn and this neighborhood looks like in the process of gentrification. I didnt get the chance to photos because I was in charge of pacifying the kids. My older child is on my phone playing roblox while the younger is in i-want-to-color-with-crayons mode. So, we had the Brussel Sprouts, Crispy Pork Belly, Calamari Plancha, Arugula Salad, NY Steak, Artisan Pizza Puttanesca and some kids menu for the young one. Despite the cool and wet weather in Baltimore we decided to hang out on their covered patio outdoors as a precautionary measures to covid. The staffs are nice and attentive and we all enjoyed the food but I wasn't able to try some of their craft beer since I am the designated driver and it is like 40 minutes drive back to the hotel in PA. Good food, good place, good friends, and good conversation is all it takes to make it a memorable place to visit. Looking to visit again in the future.

Yelp
Great food and amazing staff who don't turn over. Management keeps the quality high. Love the cod risotto, and the pizza is really good. Finnish with Italian Kit Kat!

Brandie F.

Yelp
Loved eating here! We came on a Sunday evening and sat at a high table in the bar area. An older gentleman was very kind and knowledgeable about the drinks. I ordered a Raspberry Beret and my husband ordered the Lot 6. Both our drinks were tasty. We ordered the Duck Duck Goose and sausage onion pizza(I can't remember the name). Both were delicious! For dessert, we got the Italian Kit Kat. Perfect blend of salty sweet chocolatey goodness. We can't wait to return!
google avatar

I'sata Y.

Yelp
Location is a bit hidden but man o man, once you walk in, you really get a feel of the place. All the meals we ordered were tasty. The menu is not too pricy. Definitely a great place to bring friends/family and share some meals. Waiting staff was spectacular and the wait for the food was almost nonexistent. Kudos!
google avatar

Michelle F.

Yelp
Came here for a Saturday night dinner with a girl friend. We started off with a bottle of wine - they have an extensive list and it's very reasonably priced (our bottle was probably only up charged $20 from what it would be at the wine store)! Our app, the arugula salad with mushrooms, was huge and very flavorful. It compliments the pasta and pizza very well. For the entrees we split the wild boar pappardelle and mushroom pizza that we added salumi to. I enjoyed both of them but, wasn't blown away by either and felt like they both could've been heated up more. Overall, 4 stars because the food and service was good but, wouldn't make the top of my list for Italian food.
google avatar

Dave K.

Yelp
I have only been here a couple times, but every time I stop in I'm impressed by the quality of the food. This quality doesn't come cheap, but portions are generous. A friend an I split a pizza and a large format beer for dinner and it was very satisfying. Every time I eat here I wonder why I don't come by more often. Good service, pleasant atmosphere, and tasty food. Need to go back soon!
google avatar

Caroline Whitney M.

Yelp
I'd recommend only if coming for the massive bar area, skip the food. It's nothing special. We ordered the duck pizza to split and while there was plenty it just wasn't palatable (it had such a thick layer of that intensely sweet fig jam you can get at most supermarkets, combined with the not nearly done egg, not enough cheese, and the richness of the confit was just too too too much). I did like the location being in Jones Falls area though. Cocktails were really creative.
google avatar

Anna M.

Yelp
Cool, darkened atmosphere. A good spot to stop in for a cocktail and yummy food. Everything we ordered hit but my favorite from our spread was probably the White P.E.I Mussels. They were super plump with an addicting sauce soaked up by the croutons.
google avatar

Mollie W.

Yelp
I love this place! It has become my go-to after seeing a Sunday matinee at the Hippodrome Theater downtown. The Duck Duck Goose Pizza is my favorite. It's loaded with duck confit, fontina asiago cheese, balsamic glaze, fig-onion jam, and stopped with a duck egg. I could eat the pizza crust just smeared with the fig jam, it's incredibly delicious! The Margherita Pizza is also very good. You can also specialize any order so I added sausage for an extra kick of flavor. My friend got the Handmade Pappardelle which looked very tasty. It was chocked full of wild boar bolognese and parmesan cheese. I shared the gigantic Caesar Salad, but was a bit disappointed in that the romaine lettuce had begun to brown and didn't look too fresh. It didn't stop me from eating it all up though because it was still very good and I was starving. I've had several of their pizzas here in the past and I have to say they do pizza better than most "pizza" restaurants.

Yelp
I was not expecting to eat pasta this good in Baltimore, but it was so incredible! We showed up with no reservation on a busy Friday night and got a bottle at the bar where ambiance was lovely. It was suuuper worth the wait (which was exactly as long as they said it would be so no complaint). Also, you could literally taste all the ingredients in the risotto it was so fresh.

Yelp
Let me just say that Birroteca is hands down one of my favorite restaurants. When I got the news that they were open again after closing for almost 8 months due to Covid, I was ecstatic. For starters, let's address Covid concerns. This is one of the few restaurants that I deemed safe enough to eat inside and here's why. They direct all traffic to one door where upon entry you must use a sanitized pen to sign your name for contact tracing, while wearing your mask of course. After signing in, they take your temperature. Now we all know that you could have Covid and not have symptoms but I give them a thumbs up for trying to stay safe. All the employees had on mask and I would like to point out they were actually wearing them properly to cover their nose and mouth. After signing in, we were taken to an empty dining room. Our server for the evening did not seem bothered and played along with some friendly banter as I openly displayed my excitement. I also want to mention that they use paper table cloths that they change between each patron of course. Each table also has hand sanitizer which allowed me to sanitize constantly in between eating and playing tic tac toe on the paper cloth. We started with some wings. I admit that they brought me the wrong kind at first. The only reason it's still 5 star is because they were delicious and I actually didn't like the ones I did order. Good thing they let me keep them both. I ordered the risotto which was quite tasty. It was not the creamy cheesy goodness I had hoped for as it was tomato based instead, but it was still very tasty. I also tried the apple cake dessert which was amazing, I just didn't care for the kick that came with the cinnamon sauce. The cake was the perfect texture and paired very well with the ice cream. The manager and our server came and asked how we liked all of our courses. They asked for suggestions and let us know that they would ask the chef to make changes for the next wave of folks. We were treated extremely well and the food was delicious. We will be back. I highly recommend people support them. Yelp still Shows they are closed, but I promise you they are open and ready for business.

Yelp
Love Birrotecca . Excellent food always great homey atmosphere. Good beer and cocktails. Despite the fact that it's been open for years it's still full on a Saturday night.

Yelp
A go to spot for pizza and drinks! The pizza crust has a nice crisp and the topping are all unique. My favorite is the spicy Italian and the margarita

Yelp
Can't decide between bar-like hipster atmosphere and charmingly romantic dinner? Well, you get the best of both worlds here! The bar area also has high top seating tables for a fun night out, or you can opt for the classic romantic Italian restaurant feel by choosing a table in the dining area. Located a few miles away from Inner Harbor in the suburbs of Baltimore, Birroteca was the place to be this past Saturday night. We made a reservation for 8p through OpenTable, but arrived early; although there was a few tables available, we were unfortunately not seated. It wasn't until 40 minutes later when I asked for an update that the hostess decided to seat us at one of the tables that had been open since we arrived... The hostess stated she thought we looked comfortable at the bar so she didn't bother us? For dinner, we decided to share the garlic bread and a pie of pizza. I'd give the garlic bread a 4/5 - soft bread, garlicky, with just the right amount of cheese. The Margherita pizza's sauce and toppings were flavorful, but the crust was highly disappointing for this gal. The dough was slightly soggy on the first bite and the crust was too chewy for my liking - 2/5 stars for the 'za. Coming from the NY area, I may be slightly spoiled by delicious pizza so this just didn't cut it for me. The service was nothing remarkable - a bit forgetful and non-existent at times. I was also a tad disappointed looking at the check and seeing that we were charged $3 for onions on the pizza because the menu said meatballs are $3 as well... I just can't fathom how those toppings are comparable in price.
