We got there a little before 6:00pm and were seated immediately. We had some rolls with butter offered and these were a welcome start. Butter seemed sweet. Rolls were warm and fresh.
After browsing the menu, we got elected to open up the flood gates with a Blooming Onion. I'd say this is comparable if not better than most other onion blossom offered by restaurants. One side, in particular had just the right amount of crispiness, but the other side was a bit mushy. Had it been evenly crispy, It'd place in the S-tier.
We each ordered a sirloin steak -- mine was medium and my wife's was well done. They were both "cooked to perfection" as the menu stated. Although mine was seasoned a bit too much, the flavor profile of the seasoning well complimented the natural char flavoring with which it was cooked. Cutting into the meat I felt like I was an infomercial host trying to sell viewers on some new Japanese knife. It was like cutting into butter. Even my wife's well done steak was strangely tender. I'd rank their steaks in the A-tier but closer to the S-tier than the B, for sure.
For the sides (two sides per entree), we split fire roasted corn, steamed vegetables, seasoned rice, and asparagus.
Fire roasted corn had some kick to it that we both appreciated. Maybe a little bit of cayenne pepper. Anyways, had that sweet heat combination of which we're fans. A-tier
Steamed vegetables: typical mixture you'll get from most steakhouses. Broccoli, carrots, zucchini, and cauliflower doused in a buttery oil with shaved garlic. I do believe I tasted hints of Parmesan in there which helped to differentiate it from those aforementioned places. Otherwise, run-of-the-mill. B-tier.
Seasoned rice: completely forgettable. Maybe even a little off-putting. Had a weird taste to it despite being topped with a fresh green herb. D-tier.
Asparagus: this one wasn't bad, but I've had better grilled asparagus stalks from local restaurants. They weren't bad, though. C-tier.
The atmosphere seemed alright. Seating was a bit cramped. Even walking to the restrooms, it felt like i was going to bump into the staff. Sink water was immediately hot. Only one urinal, though.
Large flat screen TVs on the north/south walls so this is the kind of place you could go to for a big sports watch.
We had only water. No bad taste but I we cannot comment on any of the drink selections or desserts. Server didn't really give us an option. She seemed like she was maybe ready to get us out for the Saturday night dinner crowd.
Verdict: we will return. We surveyed the offerings at neighboring tables and their burgers, chicken tenders, and chicken fried steak looked worthwhile to try. So, it'll be another date night and I'll update accordingly.
