Bistro 217

Delicious lunch yesterday, wonderful presentation and quaint atmosphere. Had reservations and seated promptly. Restaurant was lunch busy, service/attention was a little off but as a former server, I do understand being “in the weeds” - we had everything that we needed, never felt rushed. Friends visit often and next trip to Pawleys, I will definitely return. The photo of the lunch special doesn’t do it justice. I am unable to describe it as well as it was presented, but it was essentially shrimp tacos, butternut squash soup and greens with a delicious house dressing. Meal was amazing!

Visited Bistro 217 on a Saturday evening after making a reservation. We were seated promptly and our server was quick to welcome us. Everything about this place was excellent! The atmosphere of their “outdoor” seating was wonderful. Our server was attentive but not overly so, and the food and drinks were outstanding. Would highly recommend Bistro 217 and look forward to returning when we are in the area again.

I went on a Monday for lunch and the restaurant was very busy yet they seated us promptly. The service was excellent & food came out quickly. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. Everything was very fresh and the portions were generous. Best dining experience I’ve had in a long time. Can’t wait to go back for dinner!!!!

This place was absolutely the best of the best! If the chef has not received a James Beard, someone is sleeping. Was a great place to have a work-related luncheon. The service, the atmosphere and the food were all great.

Bistro 217 is our Go To restaurant. Food is the best around. The staff are professional and bend over backwards to make your time enjoyable and fun.

If you’re looking for the BEST food in the Carolinas, this is it. Believe me, I’m a Carolina girl who is a foodie, eaten all over SC and Bistro 217 has the most delicious food that will keep you coming back for more! The service, impeccable and the atmosphere is fantastic! My family and I visit every time we’re on vacation. Our favorites include the fried okra appetizer, grouper, local flounder, homemade flight of ice cream and the tomato jalapeño crab soup is a must!!!! Our visit this week was amazing!!

As always, great service, excellent food options and drink options. The ambiance is wonderful with spacious seating for locals or visitors.

Honestly, I've heard good things about this place from my parents that frequent this restaurant. I didn't want anything crazy so I opted for their macaroni and cheese. It was phenomenal!!! Creamy and so flavorful!! Our server was so friendly and the place is lovely inside.

Bistro 217 is a bit of a hike for us. We always Uber. I wish they would open one up in Murrells Inlet. We had reservations and looked to see if there was room at the bar. No !! But surprise, surprise they actually have two bars. After seating ourselves at the second bar, we ordered our cocktails. We decided to split the carpaccio. This dish was huge and delicious. It had a salad on top of it with arugula, fennel and fried artichokes. What a great dish to start with. I seemed to be full after the carpaccio. He ordered the grilled chicken orzo. I looked over and he is the winner of the clean plate club. For dessert, we shared the Meyer lemon tart. DELICIOUS !!! After loosening our belts, we ordered our Uber to go home. This has really become one of my favorite places. If you see me there, stop by and say hello.

My family and I dined here the week of Thanksgiving. We had reservations ahead of time, so not sure of a wait, but it was decently crowded. The outdoor patio is surprisingly large and nice. It was mostly covered and heated but you felt like you were sitting outside still, which was very nice. The waitress was very kind and attentive. The rolls to start were good, but I will say I was surprised by the pepper or jalapeño in the corn bread muffin, so that wasn't my favorite. I ordered the filet, with mashed potatoes and the cheese potato (I know. Lots of starch! Haha). While it wasn't the best I've ever had, all was very good. Both the steak and mashed potatoes were a little bit on the dry side, but I did like the béarnaise it came with. It came with shrimp, which I unfortunately do not eat, but they couldn't switch for anything so I just have to my family. I forgot to take pics, so I guess I'll have to go back and take some next time!

I moved to this area from a foodie city. Bistro 217 and Rustic Table were two of the restaurants that eased that move. However, tonight was not a great night, nor was the last time I ate there. After taking a seat at the bar and getting our drinks, it was 14 minutes before our food order was taken. I ordered the trout almondine and it was good but there were more almonds than trout. We were never offered a second drink, nor asked if we wanted dessert. Very disappointing. The quality has definitely taken a turn.

Amazing lunch specials with beautiful produce. The atmosphere was inviting and wine was chilled perfectly. The best part was the amazing homemade ice cream at the end!

We are so glad we can back here. We had an awesome dinner here tonight! Started with a delicious cocktail and bread basket, and then split a wedge salad. Honestly the portions here are pretty good sized so we were too full to have desert so think about either an appetizer or a desert. I chose the beautiful filet mignon with shrimp dish and it was epic. Would order it again in a heartbeat. Wife liked her wahoo fish dish. Great place!

I have been here for lunch a couple of time and sat outside for dinner prior to the Pandemic so it's been a while since we have been here. We came here because we couldn't get into Chive blossoms and Frank's this weekend and we were not disappointed. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive from start to finish. Our drinks were all well made and our group has a few. All of our dishes were delicious. My local flounder with garlic potatoes and fried okra was fresh and well seasoned. I have no complaints. The inside seatings were a bit dark without any real ambient, just very busy. If we had a choice I would have preferred to sit out on the patio which is nicer but not quite as nice as Chive Blossoms outdoors and not as large as Frank's outdoor. Overall I would come here again.

Best food in Murrells Inlet. We love going to this restaurant. The ambiance is great, relaxing and very sociable. The staff is wonderful and quite welcoming. We will be back. Dom L.

Great food, great waitress, food came out fast. Delicious flounder sandwich special and wonderful line chicken salad. The salad is made with very thin strips of chicken in a peanut sauce. We will definitely be back often.

AMAZING! We had the fried oyster salad, filet mignon with shrimp, 22 oz porter house and the scallops main dish. Cocktails were also perfect. Only disappointing was the desserts - good but definitely not close to best crème brûlée and lemon tart was 1 part tart and 9 parts ice cream.

Has anyone else gotten food poisoning from this place. My wife asked for no bacon on her hamburger and it came with bacon. She took the bacon off and had upset stomach right after eating. I ate a Ruben and half her hamburger and the next day had massive food poisoning.

This was a disappointing visit. One of my favorite restaurants but the past 3 visits have not been up to par. The bread basket is still amazing and the tomato, crab and jalapeño soup is to die for but it's the entrees that have slipped. Got the scallops with mashed potatoes and crab succotash. The scallops are large but almost tasteless and the succotash was 80% corn which was poured all over the mashed potatoes making everything a sloppy mess. Same issue with my wife's chicken orzo was similar except the chicken was delicious but you would be hard pressed to see any orzo for all the corn. Must have been a special on corn this week.

Nice restaurant. Fast and friendly service. However, the flavor of the food was unremarkable compared to the food we had already tasted during this trip to Pawley Island. My husband had the almond crusted halibut over risotto with buttered capers. It was good, but he removed the skin. "It was OK, but I would order something different." I had the braised short ribs, and I substituted the mashed potatoes for the cheese grits. It also came with green beans. The short ribs were tender and well seasoned, but I did not care for the green beans being layered on top of the grits and under the short ribs and gravey. It was just not visually pleasing. I also don't think the blue cheese crumbs were needed. Their flavor distracted from the taste of the beef.

Traveling from Myrtle Beach to Charleston we stopped at the Bistro 217. I ordered the fish tacos and it came with fresh guacamole. My wife order the shrimp fried rice. Both meals were excellent. My could not eat all of her meal so I helped her some. Angel was our waitress, very good service. Inviting ambiance. Good for family and very reasonable lunch prices.

I'm back with my annual Bistro update! And I can't help but give it 5 stars!! We went at 5:30 without a reservation (always a risk), and they were able to give us a table on the patio. We started with the crab cake and French onion soup. I thoroughly enjoyed both. The husband says both were good/fine. The French onion soup had a wonderful rich broth, but he prefers when the croutons are of a firmer variety. For our entrees he had the filet with shrimp and said everything on his plate was delicious. The steak was the best steak he's ever had in Pawleys. He did switch out the hollandaise for the demi glaze which he loved. I had the lobster, shrimp, and scallops over fettuccini sans the scallops. It was exactly what I'd want and expect. A rich sauce that did not overwhelm, sooo many shrimp, and decadent lobster. Oh, they also start with a bread basket with pimento cheese. Our server was wonderful!!!!! Loved her! We were greeted by co-owner Anne and our meals were run by manager Rich. Bistro 217 does everything to ensure you have a great experience! (Having said that, we'll be going back another day for lunch, since the blt/soup/salad combo is my fav!)

Always an excellent meal at bistro, great staff, and very efficient. Two beautiful bars with great bar menu. Always new and creative specials. Get your RSVP if you are visiting Pawleys Island!! Tomato, crab and jalapeño soup is a must!!

I really like this place! While I've enjoyed a number of different entries like the salmon, my favorite thing on the menu is the full fried fish appetizer. It looks so freaky but the taste is truly one of my favorite things! The sauces it comes with is also fun and different. The bread is also so delicious and different with jalapeño ones. The drinks and desserts are great too! If I lived closer I would come here a lot!

Excellent. Wish we had gone here in prior trips. Gluten-free options for the wife makes finding somewhere to eat easier. Plus the food was very good and reasonably priced.

All great service. Nd fantastic lunch again sat at the bar , Alex was the bartender and took our drink order promptly. Then I had Bankok chicken that was so delicious and a great filling portion. lol be it. Recommend it for quality food and fair prices too

Went here as a last minute place with my soon to be in-laws. It was fantastic! I tried mussels and scallops for the first time, both were delicious. There were no complaints from any of us and they were super accommodating with my mother-in-laws gluten free (celiac). Would recommend!

Always a favorite of mine. I love this place. The staff is very inviting and helpful. On my most recent visit we were debating wines and our server brought us lots of samples and we had a great discussion about what to drink. They had a triple tail special. I had never heard of this fish so I knew I needed to try it. It was amazing. I wish I could have it every day. I also had the pear salad and it was huge and delicious. Other favorites of mine include - seafood pasta and the eggplant. They take reservations which is a big bonus for me in a beach town. I certainly will be back.

Very nice restaurant with two beautiful bars as an option for eating dinner. Great wine selection and many cocktails to choose from. Service was excellent at the bar and our table after we moved over for dinner. Looking forward to returning to try other menu options.

Been here several times. Outdoor seating is best if weather permits. Food is consistently delicious. Staff is pleasant and friendly. Our server Steven offered the right amount of interaction with us. We will continue to go back.

This place is out of this world. The crab nachos are the best in the area and maybe on the planet (the salsa was insanely good and I wish they sold it jarred) and their drinks are phenomenal. One of my fave places in Pawleys (and maybe ever).

Ambiance, or lack there of, is what killed it for us at Bistro 217 tonight. It's pretty much impossible to enjoy your meal when seated next to the bathroom AND the kitchen, with its doors constantly swinging from the army of servers and bussers parading in and out, with the bright fluorescent lights shining upon us when the doors become stuck in the open position. Bistro 217, guests should NOT be seated here, not for these prices. This space could be utilized to prep roll ups, but that's it. We made a reservation and were looking forward to enjoying some delicious food and great company but this didn't happen because of the constant traffic. No, we will not be back. EDIT: Welp, I only ate half of my salad and asked our server to box up the other half along with my other family members, who didn't finish their meal (it wasn't because we weren't hungry, it was just a very unpleasant experience trying to eat where they'd seated us ). Turns out this didn't happen, as mine was not boxed up with the rest of the family's.

Locals told us it's the best restauranton the island. I'd have to agree! Excellent food, presentation, portion size.and flavors. We sat at the inside bar with Angela and got great service and attention. It's just cozy enough to feel comfortable and enjoy your meal. We had the fresh green salad with the amazing champagne vinaigrette and added chicken; wonderful French onion soup and the best burger ever! Be surprised at the adorable bread basket that adds fresh baked muffins, fresh veggies and pimento cheese spread. We'll be back before we leave here!​

The staff was friendly and the ambiance was pleasant. The meal however was not fine dining. The pan-seared lobster, shrimp, and scallops over fettuccine was overcooked; lobster and shrimp were rubbery. The herb crusted grouper was cooked adequately however, the brown butter sauce did not have a nutty taste and was watery. Other dishes at our table included the filet mignon and trout. The steak was cooked perfectly and the trout was okay. Nothing had a wow-factor that would bring us back. We do, however, love their partner restaurant Rustic Table.

Food was great the service was perfect and most of all Ambiance was great I was just there for the weekend so we thought we give it a try and was truly not disappointed. We were eating lunch there was five of us And all of us enjoy the food and our Waitress

We have eaten here multiple times and it's alway delicious! Service was great. I have only ever eaten on the patio and it was nice and clean.

The place was busy for lunch. Love the vibe and the food was part decent. I had the shrimps and grits, it was delicious! The service was fast and efficient.

As locals, this is one of our favorite places to eat in the Grand Strand. Whether it's lunch or dinner we've always had great service and fantastic food! When we have guests, this is a definite stop. They are always impressed. Try one of their famous cocktails too. My favorite is the "Double Down". Tasty!

I have eaten at this establishment numerous times. They have outdoor as well as indoor seating. The food is always extremely good.

We've been here for lunch twice, great service, good menu options, drinks were good, prices were very reasonable, we were seated quickly but did not feel rushed to eat, really nice outdoor seating option, would go again, also parking was very convenient

Had one of the best meals we've ever had!! We both ordered the special at the recommendation of our server, Kristin. The pistachio encrusted trigger fish on risotto was outstanding! She also recommended the lemon tart with vanilla bean ice cream and that too was incredible. Highly recommend Bistro 217!

Always great food ! Enjoyed our girls lunch . The salad special taste and texture unbelievable. Our server was delightful, smile and helpful , attentive to anything we may needed or wanted .

Our overall experience was good. The service was courteous and the food was pretty good. It took a while for the food to be served, but it was understandable because they were extremely busy. I would return

Nice upscale but casual eatery! They have a nice wine list and several good choices if you like IPA's as my husband does! It's not a good spot for some one with food allergies unfortunately. The menu was heavy on seafood and tree nut items none of which I can eat. They didn't make it easy to substitute so it left me with few options. I love pimento cheese but it has nuts - I can only eat shrimp or scallop but it also included fish which I can't eat so that left me with a chicken or steak option! I went poultry and it was good! The risotto was full of flavor and cooked perfectly and my chicken had nice flavor and lil hint of char which I like! The calamari app was good ( only other seafood I can eat) lol and nice sharing portion. We finished it off with the chocolate lava cake and peanut butter ice cream - cake was very dense and super rich so after a few bites that was enough. The ice cream was good though. Our server was highly efficient and nice but clueless on how to pour a beer lol she left quite a bit of foam We might go back at lunch!

Always a fan and frequent visitor of Bistro. 1st attempt for a takeout order for 1 meal. 'Due to the volume' at 2:00 in the afternoon they could not accommodate. Very disappointing. Will be awhile before we revisit.

Already reviewed this place but it's still great! Check this place out and read my other review. I am a fan of Franks in Pawleys but Bistro just has those certain dishes that might put it above Franks, namely the Calamari.

Best restaurant of our whole vacation!!! I ordered the Herb-Encrusted Grouper and my husband ordered the Local Flounder. Both were excellent! The Crab Nachos we're also very good. Our service was also great. Our waitress, I feel bad I can't remember her name... she was from Philly, was super friendly and gave us recommendations on the menu. We will be back multiple times on our next trip out to Pawleys Island. Thank You!!!
