13 Miami Starters That Are The Main Event - Miami - The Infatuation

"These fried potato spheres the size and weight of ping pong balls get tossed with truffles and covered in a thick, fluffy parmesan cheese sauce. And then finished with a single golden egg yolk resting on top. It’s all very delicate-looking—until your server mixes it up at the table, coating every surface of those potato balls in velvety sauce and rich yolk. I've been here a few times and have come to love this restaurant. This particular night I started with the escargot which were small and I had a spot of trouble get getting a couple out. The server was very helpful and fetched me a wooden hors d'oeuvre pick to fish them out. Success! For the entree I had Canard á L’orange. The duck was good but.....can't quite put my finger on it. I think I need to give this dish another go. The food here is exceptional and the Old Fashions are to die for. This place is a must for any occasion, it's not loud, staff are wonderful and attentive and the vibe is warm. I would love to see a Beef Wellie on the menu. I'll keep you posted.

Google
Their crab cakes are good, but not like any I had in Annapolis. Or anywhere else in Maryland! Maybe they can't source the right kind of crab meat down here. They were out of candied bacon and creme brulee. The deep fried bread pudding seemed to be leftover cinnamon rolls. The cinnamon rolls were purportedly fresh but more likely just microwaved. Took half home and the leftovers were not from a freshly baked roll!

My husband and I went on a date night on opening night now that it’s reopened. I never ever leave reviews but I had to leave one about Bistro 55. Every single staff member was SO kind. We did have our baby with us, who started getting fussy, and they were so accommodating & helpful. Apart from the service, the food was absolutely perfect. We go to nicer restaurants pretty often, have been to pretty much every one in the CSRA, & this one takes the cake. Perfectly seasoned. Great options for everyone. We both had the Coq Au Vin & it was incredible. And don’t even get me started on the cheesecake!! I can’t recommend this place enough. Will for sure go regularly (without our baby next time).

Google
French food from owners from Paris, France! The wine list is full of Fench wines, traditional French sauces on the food, and wonder baguettes served at the beginning. We were excitedly welcomed into the restaurant and served warm baguettes with salty rich butter. The cocktails were well balanced and tasty. The special pistachio crusted halibut was so melt in your mouth that it was like cotton candy. The steak was cooked to perfection and required almost no chewing it was so tender. The espresso martinis were the best we've ever had, and the cheesecake perfection! Needless to say, we'll be back and you should go now! One of the best restaurants in the CSRA, HANDS DOWN! UPDATE: Just went to their Moroccan theme night. My husband and I were immediately brought back to the meals we had while deployed/stationed in the Middle East/North Africa area. Plus, the mint tea at the end just was icing on the night!

Google
Bistro 55 provides an inviting French bistro atmosphere. During a last-minute search for a Valentine’s Day celebration, we were fortunate to encounter Ms. Paulette, the proprietor, who graciously welcomed us and guided us to our table. Initially apprehensive, our son ultimately savored the salad, duck, and cheesecake. The attentive staff and exquisite cuisine contributed to an unforgettable evening. We can’t wait to go back to try more dishes. Ms. Paulette, we will be back for more. Thank you to you and your staff for an amazing evening.

Google
The food was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor, and the owners couldn’t be more warm and welcoming. Their cocktails are wonderful, and it’s a great spot to sit at the bar and chat with the bartender. We’re so happy to see them reopened in their beautiful spot in Hammond’s Ferry. A wonderful addition to the neighborhood.

Google
Wonderful atmosphere, excellent service, and Paulette is a beautiful and kind soul! My ribeye steak was a little tough and my husband’s potatoes were a little overcooked but the filet he had was delicious as were the carrots. They welcomed us for our anniversary and even gave us a special desert, upon finding out I couldn’t have wheat they prepared me another desert with ice cream and berries. If you’re looking for a quiet, romantic atmosphere with great service, try Bistro 55!

Google
Honestly, the food was exquisite. Every plate was just as delicious as the last, including desserts and drinks. The atmosphere is tranquil and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. It specially shows the most at dawn/night. The service was top-notch. I did make a reservation but luckily for us, it was a slow night, which we loved. Parking is limited, so do plan on walking a bit. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a good atmosphere, nice esthetics, and amazing food!

Yelp
Sunday Brunch at The Annapolitan! Since we were originally from Maryland, and I read this article about this new restaurant replacing what was formally known as Bistro 55, in North Augusta - we thought we would give it a try since it features Chesapeake Bay-inspired steaks and seafood. Since it was brunch we ordered the crab cakes and a traditional eggs benedict. Both were excellent especially the crab cakes since it is rare that we can find crab cakes that equal what we had become accustomed to in

Jeannie M.

Yelp
Terrible service, never received the correct order. After the food was brought to our table, we were never checked on for refill of our drinks or was able to report to them that we received wrong order.... Quality of food for the price was not good.... (Was told (short staff),,, yet the whole time 3 waitresses/waiters were standing the whole time.. Not busy

Yelp
Everything is made from scratch and taken care with love!! This place has always been a family owned business and is never a place that will be forgotten about!

Lauren P.

Yelp
Great food, atmosphère is fantastique. Great place to dine or celebrate any event. My family and I dined in for my birthday and were treated with such attention and kindness! We will definitely be back.

Yelp
I think the best word to express our experience with the cuisine is: underwhelmed. We tried various things and nothing had us rolling up our sleeves and fighting over the next bite. There was nothing so mouth-wateringly delicious that we scarfed it down until our bellies hurt. Ideally, I'd like the food to be so good I have to fight the urge to lick my plate. I want to leave thinking about when I'm going to come back. Instead we left with rather full plates of food and disappointed stomachs. :(

Yelp
It must have been the B team because the service was horrible. The Cosmo we had to send back it was pure syrup.... The food was over seasoned. Maybe it wasn't a good night but I won't be back

Yelp
We went as a large group with reservations to celebrate 2 birthdays. Our table was decorated with some happy birthday signs in addition to the reserved sign. I will say we went late at 730 on a Wednesday so it wasn't super busy. We ordered the crab cakes to share.....they were pretty big. For my entree I got the branzino with black rice and asparagus. 2 of my friends got the salmon and really enjoyed it. I did like that all the dishes did have some veggies with it. Someone in our group got the Mac and cheese and it looked to die for. Will definitely be trying it next time. At the end of dinner they brought out cheesecake for the birthday girls. Our server was super helpful and took our pictures outside for us.

Yelp
I made an early Valentine's Day reservation for tonight at 7:30pm. My wife and I arrived at 7:25pm and were sat by the host right away. The restaurant was pretty empty. Twenty minutes go by and no one bothers to come even offer to fill our water glasses. Servers and what seems to be owner do walk past several times but no acknowledgement. We ended up walking out. Now we are at Craft & Vine where the food is excellent and the service is amazing.

Yelp
They just started serving lunch at Bistro 55, we came on a warm breezy Friday at 11 am. Service was polite and quick even though there was a steady number of people coming in. The prime rib French dip. the thinly sliced meat was seasoned well, the meat was soft, and then dipped in the au jus was delicious. The croque monsier was simplistic perfection. Ham, bechamel, melted gruyrere cheese between 2 pieces of bread topped with a yolky egg. So good! We've also been there for dinners a few times before. My favorite is the filet mignon. The steak is so juicy, and the sauce is very flavorful. I get mine cooked medium rare.

Donna S.

Yelp
We recently had a birthday dinner at Bistro 55. From the moment we arrived, the staff was very inviting and professional. I had the prime rib and my husband had the filet. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. North Augusta needs more like this. We highly recommend Bistro 55 and look forward to our next meal there. Thank you for a great evening!

Yelp
Yelp ratings currently is 5 stars with 5 people !! I like the building, its really nice inside. My mother in law had booked the table, she got a text asking to confirm that we were still coming for lunch. She confirms but when we get to the restaurant they have no knowledge of the booking at all. Luckily she had not deleted the text from the automated booking service and they seated us. Wife asked to start with coffee, it comes out and its cold, told waiter and he immediately corrects that. Side note another table came in while we were eating and the lady on that table had coffee and she sent it back because it was cold !!!! Wife's food should have had a green salad with it, it did not come out with it and had to ask the waiter for it. Drain in men's toilet had a lot of water coming up from it. All that apart the food was actually quite good, but for the prices the little niggles should be better. Restaurant opposite was packed, with just 3 tables full in Bistro 55 today.

Yelp
We love to dine in at the Bistro 55 downtown North Augusta! So far is the best restaurant in the area. The food is delicious! The atmosphere is great! Loved the Christmas decorations! The owner is very nice and friendly, she always makes us feel welcomed when we go there. We continue to go there and highly recommend it. Thank you for the great food and service!

Yelp
Celebrated my husbands birthday over the weekend. They decorated our table with birthday confetti (very nice touch). The dinner was amazing from the roasted chicken, steak, pork loin to the fish. The bri app and garlic shrimp were sooo good left me wanting more! They even provided a dessert of choice to my husband and sang Happy Birthday! The entire staff is very welcoming and attentive. This is the type of service I am accustomed to up North, and many times lacking in this area. The food takes a bit longer than most restaurants; but, you can't rush fresh delicious food! I would rather wait a bit longer and enjoy a great dish!. Keep up the great work Bistro 55!

Yelp
Bistro 55 was a No-Show today! We had a lunch reservation, got a message this morning to confirm and confirmed. Showed up in time for our reservation but they were a no-show. Chairs still up on the table, doors locked, lights off. If they were closed for the holidays, or whatever reason, they should be managing their RESY account better. Can't comment on the food, service, nor atmosphere; all were non existent. Advice: make sure to call before you go.

Yelp
I preface this with the fact that it is Masters week and all restaurants have inflated prices. I accept this if food is great. That is not the case here. Menu changes, bland food, and weak drinks are not acceptable. The service and setting are the best things going for this establishment. Maybe things change next week but buyer beware for now

Yelp
Great restaurant and very beautifully decorated. The food was excellent. The service was very good. I will definitely go back.

Yelp
We had a beautiful and delicious holiday Sunday brunch. Restaurant was light, festive, tastefully decorated. Bottomless mimosas delicious and a good price $11. I had a simple but excellent french omelette of gruyère with pungent fresh thyme. My friend loved her french toast with apricot preserves. We both liked that the serving sizes were lunch-appropriate, not an "avalanche of food" that would make us uncomfortable the rest of the day. Everyone from hostess to waitress to busboy was welcoming, friendly and helpful. Street parking very easy. Neighborhood is so pretty for an after lunch stroll. Look forward to returning for dinner.

Yelp
As usual this place does not disappoint. Just had brunch here and it was amazing. I am not a fan of anything brunch but I would eat brunch here every single day! The service as usual is very friendly and personable. My favorite spot in the CSRA for dinner and now also for brunch. FYI.... Make sure you get a basket of the croissants! Yum yum yum!!

Joyce D.

Yelp
The service was very poor . We waited too long and it was after Master's Week . My Bistro 55 salad was almost non-existent for $14.00. But the Escargot, Duck and Salmon were very good .

Yelp
Great Hostess and server. Ambience was excellent with appropriate music. Menu was well balanced and wine list had excellent choices. Everything we had was over the top great. Mussels, house salad, sole incredible and my Ribeye( which they happily sliced for me)was fantastic! Large 14 oz selection. My friend who had the NY selection was equally thrilled. We both cleaned our plates. French bread pudding through the roof. Did not expect this quality a restaurant. Maurice , Eveline and Paulette are to be congratulated for bringing upscale dining to our area.

Lauren F.

Yelp
This restaurant is located where another used to be. The inside has been completely redone and it is lovely! The staff was amazing and so was the food. I suggest starting with a drink at the bar and taking your time over dinner. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Just finished Father's Day Brunch at Bistro 55. Every meal was a 10/10. Service was great. If you missed out this year, make sure to make a reservation for next Father's Day. Their food is always top notch.

Michael B.

Yelp
Bistro 55. What is Bistro 55? Well in one word it is a fine food restaurant that serves French food and has good service and friendly. It is a place where people can relax and enjoy themselves. The food you ask? Well being a French restaurant that is what you can expect, good food made from the heart. I being vegetarian I had the Salmon that usually is made is mash potatoes but insteadd has fries and vegetables and salad nicoise made of green spinach tuna olives and eggs. Of course no eggs added for me. Don't get me wrong it is not a vegan restaurant it is French fine dining restaurant that offers more than just fish and is also open for brunch. The service and people there are friendly too. So if you live nearby or visiting a relative do drop by, you wont be disappointed

Yelp
Food, service and the ambiance was wonderful. We sat outside for an early dinner this past Saturday. Ordered a lovely bottle of rose and enjoyed the surroundings. Great experience. The owners, chef and the rest of the team were delightful and very welcoming. Escargot was delicious, along with the sole, and the entrecôte. We will be back.

Yelp
One of the worst restaurant experiences, felt like we were scammed. We showed up for a reservation on time and were asked to wait for 15minutes despite there being open tables (red flag but not a big deal). Then, I had to go back to the waitstand and when I asked again, they just cleaned a table that was open from when we first arrived. After sitting down, it took another 10-15minutes even for the menus to come. After ordering our food, it took almost an hour for our food to arrive. If our reservation was at 1pm, it is now 2:30pm before we even get to eat. They brought out 3 slices of stale french bread in a basket with a stained napkin while we waited because the "kitchen is backed up". When our entrees did come, it was pitiful and seemed like the kitchen just ran out of food. Croque monsieur is a sandwich (and says so on the menu), mine was served as a single slice of white bread, open face. I've never had a worse "sandwich" that cost me $20. Also, the "french fries" were just fingerling potatoes and were way over salted. My wife's $18 "waffles" were literally 3 pieces of bread grilled in a waffle iron, were tiny, and came with 2..literally, TWO...blueberries and no apricot jam that was mentioned in the menu. The food was not good and seemed worse than amateur. I don't know how to put it into words other than saying it seemed like somebody who either ran out ingredients or doesn't usually cook made our food. Because everything was incredibly late and unappetizing, we just took our meal to go and asked for the check. Overall, a terrible experience from food to service. I feel bad because I know the restaurant business is difficult but it was one of the worst meals I've had and was ashamed in front of family for the mother's day experience that they had. If you're in Hammonds Ferry, just go to the Larder or Manuel's.

Ronald D.

Yelp
My family and I dined at Bistro 55 for the first time tonight to celebrate my birthday and it was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and the ambiance is wonderful. We were seated immediately and the owner and wait staff could not do enough for us. they took such special care of us and made certain everything was perfect. They have a wonderful menu and the food was outstanding. Our entire family enjoyed everything they ate. It's such a special place , we can't wait to go back.

Kimberly B.

Yelp
We are thrilled to have this wonderful restaurant within walking distance of our home. It is nestled in the middle of our neighborhood and offers both indoor and outdoor dining in a beautiful setting. I have enjoyed amazing seafood and roasted chicken dishes there. Last night we had a crème brûlée cheesecake with fresh whipped cream and raspberry sauce and it was so delicious it brought happy tears to my eyes. One of the best gifts of dining here is the service. The owners go above and beyond to take care of their guests. Paulette is warm and makes every person there feel welcome and at home. Hammonds Ferry is so fortunate to have three outstanding restaurants (we are also big fans of Manuel's and Hammond's Ferry Larder) and we are so grateful to now have Bistro 55 as part of our neighborhood family.
