The Best Restaurants on New Orleans’s Magazine Street Uptown | Eater New Orleans

"Give your inner Francophile a treat with the French offerings at Bistro Daisy. Set in a sweet New Orleans cottage with a handsome side gallery, the restaurant showcases chef Anton Schulte’s elegant take on the likes of grilled filet with truffled demi glace and crispy leg of duck confit and roasted breast slices over roasted mushroom choucroute. Can you say date night?" - Beth D’Addono

My husband and I ate here for our anniversary. We made the reservation online and he added that it was our anniversary. Multiple employees stopped to tell us happy anniversary which was very sweet. We LOVED this place! It was a one room dining room in an old home on Magazine street. All the food was excellent. We had the lump crab and daisy salad for apps, followed by the trout special and finished with a lemon tart. Well done!

Well, it’s about time I write a review for my favorite restaurant in the entire city…. From being made to feel like family to homey atmosphere to the melt in your mouth flavors, you need to look no further for the best meal and experience in New Orleans. The lamb shank is probably the best dish I’ve ever had in my life. My wife loves the puppy drum with crabmeat. Filet is phenomenal as well. We always get the crabmeat/beet appetizer and the warm spinach salad as well. Incredible. Also - the wine prices are unbeatable. This place holds an incredibly special place in my heart - I proposed after an incredible night at Bistro Daisy. It’s a part of my world and I relish the opportunity to eat there any time I can! Thank you Dianna (spelling?) for the hospitality as always!!!

Finally planned an evening to try this place, at the recommendation of many friends and neighbors. Ambiance is cozy and comfortable, and the food is phenomenal, as well as reasonably priced compared to similar local restaurants. The filet and duck are both phenomenal. Portion sizes are quite large, too. Highly recommended, and we will definitely be back soon.

I have had Bistro Daisy on my list of restaurants to try for the longest time, and I finally got to experience why it’s so highly recommended. Walking into the restaurant, there is no mistaking that you are in an authentic New Orleans building. The transoms, doorknobs, decorative fireplace, and crown molding are stunning yet cozy, making you feel at home but fancy at the same time. Bistro Daisy is owned by a husband and wife who named the restaurant after their precious daughter. You can see her pictures as you walk up to the podium. The warm greeting sets the tone for what’s to come. To say the service is impeccable would be an understatement. It felt like the staff had been professionally trained at a fine dining institution, yet they were kind, engaging and incredibly knowledgeable about the food. I had a ton of questions because everything on the menu looked amazing, and I needed help deciding. Luckily, we went with another couple with whom we are close, so I got to try eight different dishes (four appetizers and four entrees), not including the homemade desserts. Be careful not to overindulge in the perfection of the bread and butter as you will want to save room for the rest of the meal. That being said, you will likely end up using your bread to sop up every last morsel on your plate, which is exactly what I did with my gulf oyster appetizer. My husband’s mirliton was delicious- and I don’t even care for mirliton. The warm spinach salad and escargot were also fabulous. I chose the filet after talking it through with our server, because I was agonizing over all the delicious options but was also in the mood for steak. It was cooked to perfection, and the foie gras butter with truffle demi glace was indescribably good. The Gulf shrimp with goat cheese grits were so delicious that I will have to go back just to have that entire entree to myself next time. My husband got the duck (amazing), and our friend ordered the lamb special, which as promised, fell right off the bone. He texted us later to say it was “truly one of [his] favorite dinners ever.” I don’t disagree- especially since I’m still thinking about it on a Sunday afternoon, which prompted me to write this. Our dinner was not only delicious, but an unforgettable dining experience, for which I’m truly grateful.

Google
Chef Anton, Diane, Daisy and staff gave my wife and I a memorable anniversary dinner! The appetizers of escargot, lump crab meat and entrees of drum and filet mignon and desserts of baked Alaska and homemade peppermint ice cream were to perfection!

Google
***the best filet in town and it is not close. I rarely give 5 stars. This place far exceeded expectations- the ambiance is wonderful in a charming converted house which is intimate and warm. The service is incredibly prompt attentive without being over bearing but the food is what really stole the show. The oyster appetizer is a must try. We had white fish and the fillet, the fillet is as good as I've had.

Google
It is every bit as good as they say it is. What a charming little haute where the art of a great meal is not lost. Our waiter Jason was the bomb. Every disk was over the top fantastic. Just go!

Six of us dined at Bistro Daisy Saturday night. We dine here a few times a year. The speckled trout with lump crab meat was perfectly cooked - delicious! My husband had the duck and said it was the best duck he's ever had. Others at our table had the speckled trout, tuna, and the bouillabaisse. Everyone loved their meal. Baked Alaska and after dinner drinks were all wonderful. Service is impeccable. One of our favorite restaurants. The owners and waitstaff are always welcoming and friendly. Looking forward to going back soon!

Yelp
Update: My dad recently visited NOLA. I insisted on him experiencing this restaurant & he said his friend giving him advice on where to go took his mother there for her birthday Bistro Daisy - I'll be calling you here soon when I can convince my entire family to take a trip. Again, best meal of my life.

Yelp
Recently returned to my favorite locals restaurant for my birthday. WHAT A MEAL!!! This family owned Bistro is perhaps the best restaurant of its type in this "food centric" city. The chef/owner and maitre'd/owner are always in house and it shows! Manning the bar Diane keeps the place quietly humming, with a team of attentive and knowledgeable waiters. Every detail is tended to ie fresh cut roses on the mantels, immaculately furnished restrooms, and elegant table settings. Her bar service is second to none and her wine cellar, while limited to 20-30 whites and 20-30 reds, has only best in class selections for the price point and specific varietal. These restauranteurs know their craft! The kitchen is simply a miracle. How does this chef keep turning out perfection, year after year, every night!? Started with lobster gnocchi. Little house made clouds combined with lobster in a buttery sauce, yum! Next we had Parsnip soup. Full of delicious parsnip flavor made even more flavorful with the addition of Parmesan and thick salty pieces of crisp bacon. Shared a warm spinach salad. This was dressed perfectly and completed with walnuts and more salty bacon-yum! The filet was seared and perfectly cooked, resulting in melt in your mouth perfection. The au jus was superb and perfect for the puréed potatoes. We also had the "Porcini dusted" chicken with risotto. Is there any better chicken dish in North America? I doubt it! The broiled chicken's crispy salted skin made even more delicious by its mushroom dusting. This skin was covering a deboned piece of juicy chicken breast with bone-in leg attached providing added flavor during cooking. The au jus here is made of the bird's renderings and marries perfectly to the risotto. I could eat this every night for the rest of my life, and I almost never have chicken. Crazy good!! We choose the Caymus Cabernet to drink with our meal. Delicious. Not going to mention the price for fear the proprietor will increase it!!! We skipped dessert, and if you suffered through reading all the above you can understand why. What a meal!!!

Yelp
A hidden gem on Magazine Street in the Garden District. Went for a dinner during a recent trip to New Orleans with friends. Nice to sit in a private alcove in a restaurant in a charming, renovated historic home. So cute and cozy. So many delicious choices for dinner and dessert. Chef Anton creates nightly specials as well. The pumpkin soup special was perfect for a chilly Halloween weekend night. So rich and comforting. Delicious! Hard to choose between the duck and the lamb, but chose the leg of lamb special served on risotto that was recommended by a friend. So tender that it just fell off the bone and melted in your mouth. A great choice. For dessert, the creamsicle baked Alaska is so pretty and so creative. A Meyer lemon sorbet is hidden inside the browned meringue served over a raspberry coulis. The blueberry cobbler was delicious, too. Add a hot tea as a nice way to end the meal. Limited parking, but street parking is available. Make a reservation, the restaurant is small and quite popular. Nice place for dinner in New Orleans.

Yelp
This is a very nice, upscale uptown restaurant. It has a very nice ambiance. Comfortable. It gets busy on the weekends. Food is excellent and savory. Everyone at our table was happy with their choice. Service was the only soft spot, where the management needs to emphasize that filling the wine glasses need to be performed by the wait staff and not expect the patrons fill their own glasses. Perhaps they are short handed?

Yelp
Our meal was wonderful from start to finish. We have eaten here many times, and it is my husband's favorite place to dine. I think because of its consistency. The food is always amazing. We started with the crabmeat and the oyster appetizers. I had the shrimp and grits for the first time, and it was delicious. We ended with crème brûlée and blueberry cobbler. The drinks hit the mark, too. We highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Service, Food, Ambiance, everything was amazing. You have to just experience it for yourself. 10/10 HIGHLY recommend!

Yelp
Under the radar outstanding restaurant. Small. Great homey atmosphere and you really cannot go wrong with anything you order.

Yelp
Water server kept our glasses full & was quick to clear our finished plates. Rest of meal rather unremarkable. Not planning to return.

Yelp
They don't rush you or overcharge you. The food is outstanding and served at the perfect temperature and amount of flavor. Beautiful, quintessential old New Orleans atmosphere. Friendly front of house, friendly staff and service. All around fabulous and a great Uptown staple.
google avatar

Stan S.

Yelp
This upscale bistro is a recent find for me. The food generally was very good, the poached oyster starter was terrific and for a main I went with the pan seared drum fish, all very good. My only observation was everything seemed to my taste to be almost too salty, so when I return, I'll be sure to ask the chief to go easy on the salt. Some COVID observations, they really did not check for vaccination proof when we arrived and the whole mask thing here was hit and miss even among the staff. Parking is an issue and we ended up parking a few blocks away in a neighborhood.
google avatar

Rick W.

Yelp
Chef owned restaurant is one of the best in NOLA. The oyster appetizer in a saffron broth with lardons was so good, we ordered two more for the table!

Yelp
Great dining uptown in a historic property. You'll think you're in a Parisienne bistro. Amazing food and great service in a charming dining room. I began with the Le Rossette cocktail and it was the perfect start. We began with the Daisy Salad, mushroom soup(special), and lobster gnocchi(also a special). All three were delicious. Entrees were Duck, trout with crabmeat and Osso bucco. All were outstanding. For dessert, crème brûlée, pineapple sorbet and lemon tart. Again, all delicious! The chef/owner Anton Schulte cooks all dishes and has perfected them. Really memorable experience.

Yelp
Great experience every time. Steak is fantastic Service is always excellent. Crab appetizer is a must

R.A. T.

Yelp
Food was great, as usual. it was busier than expected on a Wednesday night, so that detracted from the ambiance. Broiled drum and crabmeat was outstanding.
google avatar

Amy K.

Yelp
Booked dinner here under recommendation of our friends and it did not disappoint. We ordered the foie Gras special, broiled oyster, crab cake, and warm salad for apps. The best entree was the gulf shrimp. Cocktails were delicious with the help of our waiter's suggestions. Excellent service, food and atmosphere.

Yelp
Bistro daisy is a little off the beaten path but is very good. For starters we had the apple salad and the crawfish terrine special. The apple salad was good but slightly over dressed. I think it was probably necessary in order to avoid the apple flavor from being too sweet and over powering the dish. It was a good combination of flavors when I got the goat cheese and the walnuts in there but definitely left me needing some water. My dad got the crawfish terrine special. It was served cold and was a beautiful combination of crawfish and other goodies. It was very flavorful with a pleasant kick but not too spicy and was served with croutons. For our main courses we got the lamb shank and the duck. The lamb shank was good. It fell off the bone. The greens were very bitter but luckily the onions were there to take away that taste. The sauce was very good. There were only a few gnocchi and they were good but kind of dry. Would have been better if it had soaked in the sauce. The duck was perhaps the best duck my dad has ever had! The meat was fall of the bone tender, the skin was crispy. It was incredibly flavorful. It was served over a mushroom choucroutes and roasted shallots which both absorbed and complemented the sauce. For dessert we ordered the crêpes which were amazing. The banana was caramelized on top. The the crepes were as thin as they are in France and one was peanut butter and one was chocolate allowing you to combine them to make the ratio as you prefer it. An excellent dining experience!

Yelp
Old school New Orleans charm! We've been meaning to go for ten years and finally make a reservation. The discovery of this place heals the sting of losing Upperline. Will recommend to friends and family!
google avatar

Khaled A.

Yelp
Had a great time here. The food was delicious. I would recommend everything we ordered that day with the exception to the dessert. The jumbo lump crab with with beets had a great mix of flavors. The goat cheese ravioli with shrimp was creamy and delicious. The daisy salad was good as well. For entrees we went with the lamb shank and the chicken. Both did not disappoint. Really liked the cauliflower risotto that came with the chicken. Also the gnocchi that came with the lamb shank was amazing. Finally we finished of with the crepe which did not live up to the dishes we had before it. Even with the crepe disappointment this place still get a 5 stars because of the food they served beforehand.

Yelp
I almost hate to write this because it might lead to more people discovering this jewel of a restaurant, and therefore make it more difficult for me to secure a reservation. Bistro Daisy is one of those rare New Orleans finds that has a cozy neighborhood feel and simultaneously exudes elegance and sophistication. The atmosphere, of course, is just a small reason I've been a fan for years. I'm amazed at how every meal is consistently excellent, especially whatever they offer as the evening's special. Last Friday, I enjoyed a flounder entree that was so delicious, I literally kept setting my fork and knife on the plate in between bites as a way to force me to slow down and savor every mouthful. As someone who grew up with a mother and grandmother who were gourmet chefs, that's the highest compliment I can give.
google avatar

Steven J.

Yelp
Hadn't heard of this restaurant before but I did see the good reviews. Very romantic spot. White table cloth and candle lit dinners in a small room that can fit maybe 50 people. The food was delicious but the drinks really shined. The bartender is amazing. I got the gin daisy and my wife got a French 75. Only negative is finding parking. Definitely going back for another date night.

Yelp
Judging from how busy it was on a Tuesday night in late August, the word is out about this neighborhood wonderment. I love a New Orleans place that can still deliver the classic cocktails plus other some off-beat concoctions of their own. Wine list is not extensive but well chosen. Needless to say we were all in the mood when it came time for the main courses. I often go for the special--let's see just how creative the chef is--but I paused this night because Drum is not one of my fav fish dishes. Glad I plunged ahead--this Drum was outstanding paired with a slightly grilled potato gratin triangle and highlighted not overwhelmed by a lump crab topping. I would go back again, and again for this dish. Others in my group likewise raved about the tuna-grilled to order, prepared just right. Daisy's is also a place for desert--for no other reason than they serve an excellent Baked Alaska and you don't have to order it a day in advance! Others loved the chocolate ganache crepes. A "new" New Orleans classic on Magazine Street--in a true neighborhood setting (parking is tight). But once you enter service is thoughtful and friendly and vibe is as if you are home with friends. Wonderful!

Susan K.

Yelp
I called at 6:01 pm as the restaurant opened at 6:00 pm. I asked to place an order to go. I was told that to place a "to go" order I had to call 3 hours in advance, though the restaurant was not open 3 hours before I called. Either say that on the website or simply say "we don't have to go." I went literally one block down the street and got a "to go" dinner order without any problem. Needless to say, Bistro Daisy will not be visited by me ever again.

Yelp
I can not say enough good things about this restaurant! We were visiting New Orleans for my 40th birthday and stumbled upon Bistro Daisy from a couple decent reviews my wife saw on 4 square. We made a reservation on Open Table. We arrived a little early and to my surprise they sat us immediately. The hostess was so welcoming and genuinely engaged us in conversation. Our server came over and greeted us w/ a warm smile and gave us a little history about the restaurant and the menu. (I thought maybe he was part owner) as he had such a genuine passion about the business. He recommended a great crab appetizer special they were offering. It was a 10. I could have ordered another one. We were so close to doing just that. I ordered the Duck. It was probably one of the best served duck entrees I've had in a long time. The whole time both the hostess and the waiter checked in periodically to see how things were going. What a warm and welcoming place. Turned out after some conversations, the hostess is actually the chefs wife. They are the owners of the restaurant. I've never met such positive people that genuinely cherish sharing their passion w/ patrons. This trip was just my wife and I. We are planning to go back to New Orleans in the spring w/ 2 other couples. This will definitely be the first place we bring out friends to.

Yelp
Great place! The food was delicious and our server Micah was super friendly and helpful. Will definitely return!

Yelp
The food here is so fantastic, the service is excellent - it's a little off the beaten track, and getting a reservation is sometimes challenging, but so, so worth it.

Stephen V.

Yelp
5. 5. 5. Stars. All perfect. Food amazing. All seafood is super fresh and cooked to perfection. That crabmeat salad: out of this world. And that little baked Alaska thing is so delicious. Thank you!

Matt T.

Yelp
I'm not sure why this restaurant is not sold out weeks in advance besides the fact it's a few miles from the quarter. We had one of the best if not the best New Orleans meal ever here this weekend. To boot, prices were very reasonable. Three of the four things we ordered were specials (mussels, Lamb, and gulf fish). Mussels were probably the 2nd best Mussels I've ever had. The lamb shank fell right off the bone, like a pot roast. And the fish was amazing. The 4th item was the apple salad which was so unique and delicious. I never write Yelp reviews but this place is just fantastic.
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
Finally made it to this neighborhood gem after a year of walking or driving by and wondering what's inside. The restaurant is a converted house with a beautiful interior. Feels very New Orleans. I had the lump crab cake and beets as a starter (amazing and filling), and the chicken entree. I mentioned to the waiter that it seems shameful to order chicken at a nice restaurant and he said, "It's the best chicken in the City. Trust me." And he's right. I don't know what kind of voodoo magic is going on in the kitchen, but it's incredibly tender, moist, and flavorful. Great dinner experience. Feels like a place that's uniquely New Orleans, with excellent service that is absolutely uniquely New Orleans.
google avatar

Yelp
This quaInt diner in an older home is a wonderful surprise. We did a 4 day trip to NOLA and ate at fine restaurants each night - including Commanders Palace, Peche, and Atchafalaya. Bistro Daisy was hands-down the group favorite and definitely the best value. Really nIce wines at very reasonable prices. The food was outstanding. Had the lamb shank, chicken, duck confit- all very fresh and perfectly prepared. Poached oyster appetizer was amazing. Will definitely come again next time we're here!

Beth M.

Yelp
Fabulous Uptown restaurant! The food is absolutely top notch but the heart and soul the owner-operators put into the restaurant really set it apart.

Yelp
Some people celebrate their birth day. I celebrate my birth month. It gives me time to grab that celebratory drink with a friend one day, go on an adventure to a new place another, celebrate with my family during a weekend BBQ, and even allows for that special someone to take me to dinner. And that dinner this year was at Bistro Daisy. It was my actual birthday this past Wednesday and the hostess was incredibly accommodating when we arrived with 4 people instead of 6. We had 2 unable to make it at the eleventh hour but that didn't affect our service. We were shown to a corner table (white tablecloth, silver and glassware) that was tastefully decorated with birthday confetti. The ambiance was quiet and romantic with an eclectic array of music playing ranging from smooth jazz to an all time Disney favorite of mine. Turns out Daisy's mother picks the playlist for the evening. Oh and can we talk about how amazing it was that this little yellow cottage in the middle of Magazine St. was turned into a restaurant?!? I adore quirky places and it was as if I was sitting down at my mother's for dinner (albeit a little fancier for a Wednesday.) Such a cute concept without losing its romantic appeal. We were greeted by a team of professionals including our server, Carly. She acknowledged my birthday with a smile, offered us the specials and made recommendations on drinks we were pondering. Of the four of us, we ordered two Sazeracs and two Seelbachs. For appetizers, we all wanted something different (which, in my opinion, is the best way to eat as a group) so we had the poached oysters, the lump jumbo crab with roasted beets, the warm spinach salad and the cauliflower soup (special.) They were all excellent but the lump jumbo crab and roasted beets was by far my favorite. One of us actually said that it was so good, she could have made a meal out of just that. Among the rest, I would like to note that the poached oysters were cooked perfectly and had so much flavor with each bite. For entrees, again we all wanted something different (score again for the birthday girl) so we ordered the duck confit, the gulf shrimp, the filet (medium rare) and the flounder (special.) I cannot pick a favorite of these because it was too close to call. The filet was cooked to perfection, seasoned just enough to compliment the surrounding accoutrements. The duck was tender and flavorful as well, melting in your mouth along with the mushroom choucroute (which is a fancy way of saying kraut made with white wine.) The flounder was fresh and not over cooked... that beautiful balance of sea meets land accompanied by seasonal vegetables. And finally the gulf shrimp... as a Southern girl I pride my taste for shrimp and grits and when I see them on a menu my senses perk up. These grits were a dream; with a creamy goat cheese and roasted pepper blend that married so well with the lemon/basil beurre blanc. Stunning. As if we could eat more, dessert couldn't be missed. The highlight was the Creamsicle Baked Alaska, raspberry cream sorbet in lieu of traditional vanilla. So good we should have gotten two for the table. Flambéed out of sight and worth every bite. It took me two weeks to research this dinner and every time I went to recap the contenders, Bistro Daisy was always at the top. I now know why. I'm excited, nay, honored to recommend them to anyone looking for a worthwhile foodie experience... whether a special occasion or just a random Wednesday.

Yelp
I have passed this place probably a hundred times and I finally decided to get some dinner here. Walking in, you feel as if you are walking into a friend's house. The atmosphere is very welcoming, I like the dimmer lights and it's an overall cozy and welcoming feel. We were seated in the back, which made me happy because that meant we were away from the main crowd of the restaurant. Rebecca was our waitress and she was really friendly and told us the specials as we looked over the menu. I decided to start with the Gulf oysters, which is kind of salad served with oysters, fennel, spinach and croutons. It was a delicious and refreshing start to the meal. For my entree, I got their version of shrimp and grits which was tail-on shrimp in lemon, basil & garlic beurre blanc with goat cheese grits, roasted mirliton wrapped in prosciutto. Talk about delicious! The goat cheese grits were a little "muskier" than what I am normally used to, but the mirliton balanced it out nicely. I have to say that "wrapped in prosciutto" is a little misleading, only because in the version that I had there was the mirliton with the prosciutto on the side. I had no complaints, and you can easily "wrap" it yourself if that's what you would prefer. I really like the way this entire dish came together. Finally, for desert, I had the house made chocolate ice cream which was a special of the evening. I enjoyed it with coffee and it was as delicious as chocolate ice cream usually is and it made for a nice end to the experience. I loved Bistro Daisy and I will have to return and try more of what they have to offer, although it will be difficult not getting the shrimp and grits again.

Yelp
if you look at my Yelp profile, you will see how hard it is to get a 5* rating from me. Getting one means that the establishment must work at top level in every respect as well as giving fair value for the cost. This is not an inexpensive meal, but it is a good value. Based on many past experiences, I am fearful of restaurants with limited choices and a wide array of Ingredients in each entrée, where any one of them either by inclusion or preparation could ruin the whole experience. I am happy to say that this chef did not slip up in any possible way. The crawfish appetizer was likely the best crawfish I have ever had. The duck confit was prepared exactly as it should be and the Brussel sprouts and other items on the plate were superb. Desserts are often disappointing to me, but here, none of our group were disappointed. Even the decaf coffee was among the best I have ever had (I love real coffee, but can't drink caffeine in the evening).

Yelp
Great place. Wonderful food. Nice people. Great, personal service. Intimate atmosphere that's also great for tables of six or so.

Yelp
Had Oyster appetizer and Crab appetizer. Both outstanding. Wife had Flounder with Lump crab and I had Fillet. Unbelievably delicious. Finished off meal with Baked Alaska with their homemade ice cream. Unique and refreshing. Craft cocktails were also excellent. Great service and atmosphere at a reasonable price!

Yelp
Excellent restaurant. food is on par with some of the best restaurants in New Orleans for both taste and presentation. Service is exceptionally helpful and light-hearted. located in a small, renovated house. we have made extensive use of their takeout option during the COVID pandemic. Run by a couple, so it is adaptive and innovative in all aspects of running a restaurant. If you want to support a l'iCal business, you can do no better, and not be treated any better!

Yelp
I brought my SO here last night for her birthday dinner. We like to eat early, so naturally when we arrived, the hostess informed us we were opening up for them for the night. Cool! That means no one ahead of us to delay our food, right?! ;) Anyway, I started with an Old Fashioned. My SO unfortunately had a headache earlier in the day and had taken medicine. So she responsibly turned down any alcohol, except for a taste of my drink. And on that topic, my OF was strong and tasty. We started with two appetizers: the lump crab served over sliced beets with croutons, and the special for the day - lamb meatballs with vidalia onion and a Parmesan cream sauce. The combination of the crab and beet was... interesting. I would never think to combine those two, but it worked. And it worked well. The lamb meatballs were cooked and seasoned very well; we definitely could tell it was lamb. And the Parmesan sauce was an excellent complement to them. For our entrees we ordered the lobster ravioli and duck confit dishes. The lobster raviolis were stuffed full - awesome - and the sauce was very cooked. The only issue was the pasta itself seemed a little undercooked. The duck was excellent. It came over roasted veggies (mainly cabbage, I think) and had an orange glaze and brandy reduction. It was the quintessential classic duck dish. And why mess with a classic. The dish just works. For dessert (of course we had dessert, it was her birthday!) we ordered the classic creme brûlée and the baked Alaska. The creme brûlée was classic, with a fresh strawberry on top. Now, the baked Alaska... Holy crap. It was LEMON!! The cake portion was... I don't remember. But the ice cream portion was a lemon ice cream. And lemon is my favorite. It was unbelievably delicious. And the meringue was tasty as well. But the lemon overshadowed everything, and I was more than ok with that. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Bistro Daisy. It was a very good, classic birthday dinner. A solid choice.

Yelp
Perfect as usual! My favorite fine dining restaurant in New Orleans! Duck, chicken, fish all awesome! Great service to boot!

Cole C.

Yelp
Consistently excellent! So under the radar and this restaurant never gets the credit it deserves. Rebecca was very attentive as our waitress. I do not order chicken when we go out, but the chicken with the risotto and Swiss chard is a must. My wife's sautéed puppy drum with lump crabmeat, Brabant potatoes with a light lemon sauce and green beans was equally impressive.

Yelp
Visited Bistro Daisy for dinner a couple days ago and our whole table was so impressed with the food and quality service. We had a fantastic server (Michael) who helped one person in our group who has a lot of dietary restrictions find something on the menu to accommodate her needs. We each ordered different things off the menu and each person was equally satisfied with their meal. The entire staff was warm and welcoming, which made the whole experience more fun. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
We pass this quaint little spot daily bc we live nearby. My husband said he'd eaten there once, and meh, but I had read that Bistro Daisy had received an Open Table award, so thought we should give it a second chance. First, the setting is charming; like a few of our favorite spots, (Brigtsens, Cavan, etc), it used to be somebody's home. The waitstaff was professional, we had high hopes--then the food came. Tasteless mushroom soup, oversalted duck, and ice cream with freezer burn! All overpriced. You might be able to get away with that some places, but Nola has very high standards. We won't be back.

Yelp
Wonderful small Uptown neighborhood restaurant. This has become a weekly destination for us. I love their grilled beef filet -- best I've had in NOLA. My wife loves the bouillabaisse. I also really like the grilled tuna, and well as their other fish dishes. Terrific salads. Service is very friendly and attentive. Good wine list.

Yelp
This place is very good. The service was excellent. The food was al very good. It is in a very cute building/setting. The only reason I docked it 1 star is that the menu is a bit thin, on entrees, apps, beer and wine. They need a few more choices for each, then I think its 5 star!

Yelp
I'm not sure how many five star ratings I have given, but I am sure it is less than five. Bistro Daisy definitely deserves the honor. I went last week for the first time in five years. Five years ago I really enjoyed my meal. In fact, I remembered it being one of the best meals I had had in a long time. I believe I had a veal shank that was braised with raisins and nuts. It was absolutely delicious. So I had high hopes when I went back and was not disappointed. The space itself is very quaint. The building is essentially an old shotgun house that has been turned into a restaurant. A very small bar greets you at the front door, followed by a very small dining room which has around 10 to 12 tables. It is very simply but tastefully decorated. Nice touches include vases of flowers in the entry and candles on the tables. The dining room is also very tastefully painted with a beautiful faux finish ceiling. It is a very romantic setting. The menu is not particularly large, but it is certainly big enough. My lovely dining companion and I got the same oyster appetizer which has been on the menu for some time. It's essentially poached oysters with fennel , herbsaint, bacon, and cream along with some torn bread. It was delicious. We ordered different entrées. She ordered the roasted chicken with porcini dust. What is Porcini dust you may may ask. Well it is just like it sounds -- dried porcini mushrooms that are processed to dust. The chicken is coated with the dust and then roasted. It was absolutely delicious. I had the duck which was a sliced breast which was cooked perfectly and served over a crepe filled with duck confit and clementines. A stellar dish. The wine selection is also very good with excellent selections at excellent prices. There were plenty wines by the glass to choose from. The service was also very good as was the front of house. Finally, the prices were extremely reasonable given the quality of the food. I would say that Bistro Daisy ranks as one of the best value restaurants in New Orleans. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Magazine Street has become restaurant row. World cuisines are now well represented end to end on the former Rue les chasseurs de tresors antique. I think restaurants may now outnumber even salons, spas and Pilates studios combined. So if you went out to dinner once a week at a different restaurant it would be at least a year before you finished, as new places rush to open on Magazine'. Many of these eateries are very good but some are platonic, to use the ancient critic's adjective, meaning attaining a kind of ideal. Bistro Daisy is a restaurant representative of a certain kind of ideal French Creole dining experience. It belongs to one family. Chef Anton is in the kitchen and Diane is in the front of the house. I somehow doubt they will open Again BD or Daisy Too any time soon. They are too good at what they do to suffer that kind of foolishness The house itself is the ideal venue. Inside and out it has been decorated with a meticulous and tasteful eye. The tablecloths are white. The service team is professional and seem to be lovers of wine and food. The nearest analogous place I can think of is Brigtsen's restaurant. Family, uptown cottage, kickass personal haute cooking. The analogy breaks down at the kitchen door though. Brigtsen's Is rooted in the river parishes, Bistro Daisy in the French connection. Chef Anton spent time working with Anne Kearney at Peristyle and it shows. The sauces are limpid reductions of stock made in house, not syrups or fruity improvisations. The seasoning is restrained in a masterful way. The portions are perfect, which is why this is not a total wallet buster. Try the duck, and the crabmeat/beet salad. These and other dishes are platonic. I'd go every week if I could. Restaurants like Bistro Daisy stack up with the unbelievably good things about life in New Orleans, to help us fend off the hard truth about life here.

Yelp
I've lived in this area for about 5 years now, and enjoyed many a good meal. Bistro daisy won my heart the moment that I walked through the door. Beautiful, warm, cozy, old school Nola....gorgeous. The service is a good as it gets. We ordered 8 dishes of the menu and every single one was perfect. Easily my new favorite

Yelp
My husband, in-laws, and I visited New Orleans for the weekend. We were celebrating my husband's 40th birthday together, and wanted to try a local restaurant away from Bourbon Street where we were staying. We found Bistro Daisy on Yelp and felt it would be the perfect place to try! Andy, our server, was an absolute delight! He was witty and fun to work with during our visit. The atmosphere in the converted home with beautiful vaulted ceilings was so intimate. From the braised lamb shank to the porcini dusted chicken dish, everything was superb! If you are visiting the city for the first time like we were or are local to the area, we would absolutely recommend this charming gem near Magazine Street. Next time we visit, and we will visit again, we will definitely make it a point to have dinner here again!

Yelp
We started out a little nervous, there were 2 parties of 10 waiting for their table at the same time we were (jazz fest people). It took about 15 minutes to get our table with a reservation, which I wasn't crazy about, but once we sat down, the service was incredible. The food was even better. I usually only get a filet when I am not crazy about the menu, and in this case I wasn't, so I got the filet, and it was honestly one of the best steaks I've had in my life. Perfect in every way. Very happy with our visit.

Yelp
This is a lovely restaurant. It is fancy but still warm and cozy, and the service was wonderful. I can't say enough about how warm and welcoming the staff was. We had the lump crab appetizer, the filet and the duck. The duck was the best my husband and I have ever eaten. I would also recommend the gin daisy cocktail.

Yelp
We ate here last night. All of our food was delicious. I had a Gin Daisy - ok I had 2 because it was that good. My friend's chicken was as the waiter said "disgustingly good." My shrimp came with goat cheese grits which was amazing. The deserts were ok. The restaurant is pricey but worth it.
