Bistro de Montcaud

Great place for a good break. Food in the restaurant is magnificent, personnel is welcome and helpful. Chateau has a small park with several pools in it, a small football playground and a tennis court. You will get here only positive emotions indescribable charm of south France.

We found this gem on the Michelin Guide app, and surely it did not disappoint. From the beginning to the end, an amazing service. Staff, food and ambiance! Thank you for such an amazing experience! We will definitely be back! 💜💛🌻

I have returned a few times for lunch and it has been consistently fresh food sourced locally. The menu and the (reasonably priced) wines represent the high quality of the Rhone region, and the hotel grounds are most relaxing. It helps that the service is multilingual. Easy to drive to and to park nearby.

Lovely setting with good but slightly slapdash bistro fare eg undercooked bread and careless plating, but someone in the kitchen has talent . Front of house staff were laughably morose.

We staid for a few days at Château Montcaud and for the first 2 nights we had our dinner at the Bistro. The food is excellent but the service needs serious improvement. Maybe they avoided us just because they don't speak English but still having extra items on the final bill is not one would expect from a 5* location. They added extra starters even though we ordered menu, also the wine had a different price than in the wine list. Twice we wanted to get started with drinks before our son and his nanny would join us, twice we basically waited in vain for someone to take our order.

Nice atmosphere to enjoy your well prepped outside lunch.

We booked dinner for 19:30 and arrived 20 minutes early, wanting to enjoy a drink in the garden first. After 20 minutes nobody had come to take our order so we had to walk back to the restaurant asking again. When we got to our table it again took 45 minutes before we received our starters. The location is beautiful and the food is also very nice. But somehow it seems service has slipped down over the years. We have been coming here since 2019 and usually loved the experience. But this year we were let down quite badly. After complaining about the slow service things improved quite a bit, but it should have been like that from the moment we arrived.
