Denver’s Best Chinese Restaurants | Eater Denver

"A language-translation app and an in-depth conversation with the staff may be necessary to navigate the Chinese-language menu of this welcoming Englewood hideaway, but the effort is well worthwhile for such neat-to-eat treats as richly exhilarating brisket hot pot; crunchy glazed sweet-and-sour pork; spunky, savory vermicelli with pickled cabbage; and Jinsha corn in salted egg yolk (which tastes a little like Corn Pops)." - Ruth Tobias

Google
This spot may look a little unassuming from the outside, but inside it had what seemed to be authentic local diners—a good sign, right? The food was solid, not the absolute best I’ve ever had, but definitely a strong 4 out of 5. Generous portions ensured we had leftovers to take home, and I noticed a steady stream of to-go orders being picked up, which speaks to its quality. The service wasn’t anything to rave about—just the bare minimum—but it didn’t take away too much from the overall experience. There were numerous diners who ordered a dish that isn’t included on the menu. It is a whole fish dish served over vegetables and presented in a serving tray. (It’s all bone-in, so it’s not for everyone)

Google
The fish dish is a big hit. I saw many people ordered this dish and they were all happy about it. The flavor is crazily yummy. Other dishes are great tasting too. I feel they are authentic Chinese food. The dishes are all freshly made to order so the wait time could be a little long. The restaurant is not huge so many tables were filled when I was there with some friends. People was waiting at the door for an open table. The servers were quite busy so we had to go to the front desk to ask for water refills, additional orders and the final check. Overall it's a good place with yummy food. Highly recommended.

Google
If you’re craving authentic Chinese cuisine, this is the place to go. My fiancé and I visited this restaurant for my brother’s graduation, as my brother highly recommended it. I must admit, my brother has a discerning palate when it comes to Chinese food, and this restaurant certainly lived up to the hype. However, the sweet and sour pork could benefit from some improvement; it was a bit too thick. The soybean fish is a little salty.

Catherine Lin

Google
Ordered the boiled spicy fish (smaller dish than the whole fish in the platter), Szechuan spicy chicken, cumin beef, and pork green beans. Everything was so delicious and flavors were pretty authentic. The staff was extremely friendly and came at the right moments. Definitely will be craving this place in the future. Would 100% recommend to anyone.

Google
The food was authentic and great! We ordered the sweet and sour crispy pork and it was amazing! Would highly recommend!很好吃! although we waited a long time, the lamb soup and everything else was totally worth the wait. I would also highly recommend all of their beef options! Great service overall! Went here the next day and it was just as good.

Google
Looking for sesame chicken and egg drop soup? Don’t come here. Looking for authentic Dong Bei style cuisine? YOU MUST COME HERE. All the dishes we tried were 🔥🔥🔥 especially the guo bao rou (closest thing to sweet and sour pork as Americans know it). The di san xian was also very good! Will be back 💯

Pu Sun

Google
The food here was wonderful. One thing that is not that perfect is that I don’t think the dishes are spicy enough. Also most of the appetizers have similar tastes, but the taste is good. Overall it’s a pretty authentic Chinese restaurant.

Heather Newett

Google
The food is delicious! ORDER FROM THE PAPER MENU!!! Service took a long time but we went on Christmas night and were appropriately warned that the ‘authentic’ stuff from the paper menu would take longer to come out. We will DEFINITELY be eating here again!!! New Christmas tradition?

Yelp

Yelp
I went to Bistro King for a late lunch again yesterday. We couldn't resist having the fish again, this time with a cold beef and cucumber salad as an appetizer. The food and service was excellent! Our guests this time were restaurant owners who had heard about this place and wanted to check it out. They said it was excellent and were happy we went there. Bistro King is an unassuming place in Englewood, don't go there for the ambiance, go there for the amazing food!

Yelp
I was getting new tires put on at the Firestone next door. It was lunchtime and I still had two hours to wait. I saw the wonderful signage for this restaurant and opted to give it a try. I'm sure glad I did. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted very enthusiastically. It made me feel special. I was told I could sit anyplace I liked, I picked a comfy booth and sat down. I was delivered water and had a drink order taken within a minute. Just a few minutes later I placed an order for black pepper shrimp. Ten minutes later, it arrived. I really liked the presentation on the tray. It was a lunch special so it came with soup, an egg roll and a wanton. All for eleven bucks. A great deal in my opinion. The food was hot, fresh and well prepared. I really enjoyed my meal and the peaceful ambiance. This is a great little place with good food and great prices. I'll be back for sure.

Yelp
Came here with a friend for weekend lunch. We heard about this place from a mutual friend who recommended their fish special that you need to call ahead and reserve. The location is pretty unassuming, and it's a pretty quiet dining room for a weekend. Service was relatively quick, and we ordered 2 appetizers+the fried fish special. The fried fish was amazing. The size of the fish was massive, and the spice was on point. It perfectly captured the mala spice, and there were a ton of different toppings in the stew including enoki mushrooms, quail eggs, lotus slices, and others. Definitely recommend trying this if you're in the area.

Yelp
It's been years since I've been to Bistro King but I'm so glad not much has changed with the remodel! The food is as it always was, delicious. The staff is so friendly and with the remodel the seating now is so nice, clean and open. I'll be coming back again soon to try other items on the menu again.

Yelp
Recently some friends dined at Bistro King for the first time and were quite impressed with the authenticity of the Sichuan dishes there. Here are what they got, grilled fish, fried pork in scoop, stir fried small squid on hot plate and pig ears dressed with sauce and cucumber. Thumbs up for all. Just a note, grilled fish needs to be ordered a day in advance. For avid spicy food lovers, you can always ask the chef to make dishes more spicy, similarly, for foodies intolerant of spicy food, you can ask the chef to make the dishes less spicy or possibly not spicy at all.

Yelp
Happened upon Bistro King for lunch today and the lunch deal is killer! The food is delicious and the service was fast and friendly. Lunch came out very quickly, the portions were large and everything tasted great! Based on the clientele, we knew we had chosen authentic Asian cuisine. Highly recommend. The hot and sour soup is probably my favorite I've had in Denver! Can't wait to come back and try more of their food.

Yelp
Not.a Fancy looking place, but good food! Tasty - seemed like all customers were definitely locals which I took to be a good sign.

Yelp
My Taiwanese and his Shanghai wife introduce us to King Bistro. We order 9 dishes from chef specials. The dishes was so tasty and favorable. The tofu with duck egg yolk and corn is amazing taste. The eggplant was so tasty. First time the veggie dishes was finished first. The cold chicken salad was wonderful. The bean sprouts glass noodles was perfection. The pickle cabbage added flavor to the noodles. The cold noddles with sesame sauce is a MUST. I order one to go. The 45 minutes drive for the food worth it. I wish this restaurant is in Boulder. Now I have to drive down here at least once a month. King Bistro is my favorite restaurant now. I forgot about the fish and the squid dishes. I wish they would serve better tea with the dishes.

William B.

Yelp
The place has been popular with Chinese folks for a long time but it obviously goes down. many dishes have a big pile of noodles at the bottom to pop the food up. disgusting way to save money from material cost.

Pang F.

Yelp
This place is extremely crazy. They served us super spicy dishes. When we ordered, they didn't tell us that these dishes would be very spicy at all. This made me and my friend feel extremely uncomfortable physically. Our stomachs were really suffering!

Yelp
Was invited here for lunch with my coworkers. It's a cute little whole in the wall for some fast Chinese food. I looked up the menu online to see what they had, and when we came they gave us the more authentic Chinese menu to order from. To be completely honest, since I did not do the ordering I have no idea what we order. I labeled everything to the best of my memory. The whole fish had a choice of what sauce to be cooked in, not sure which sauce they picked but this was my favorite thing we ordered. It comes out in a tray that stays hot which I loved. This is a big meal and the reason why I loved it is because it came with everything, it had the glass noodles, bean sports, cucumbers and the fish was soft and tender but if it it stays in the tray too long it'll get overcooked and gets hard. Everything else we had was really good to try. I love the glass noodles they have, easily one of my new favorite carbs. The crispy pork that was fried was everyone's favorite- it was very crispy but too sweet for me. The beef chow fun needed more flavor but the beef was so tender and tasted fresh. My least favorite item we ordered was the chicken soup- I was taken back when it was cold. But the soup and chicken itself was very bland, had no flavor or seasoning in it. I would only come back with the same people because they knew what to order otherwise I would have to try the Americanize menu that's online.
google avatar

Dave K.

Yelp
Great food. My wife is from china and loves the authentic selection here, and I'm a big fan of the more Americanized selection, so they're good for anyone.
google avatar

Lara R.

Yelp
Welp, sad to say that with the change in ownership, the food and service is lacking and we've had to find other options for Asian fare. Our go-to orders are not on the menu anymore and the things we've ordered in the last 8 mos. or so just tasted off. Not terrible, but not the same quality or flavor; even a little greasy in some cases. Thankfully, they've kept the amazing wonton recipe and my bites of them are still great.

Yelp
We arrived before 7 PM on a normal Thursday and received absolutely no service for an hour, not even utensils or water. The waiting stuff could not have been any better at ignoring the tables and remaining head down on the screen. After watching two tables left without their food. We had to unfortunately find another restaurant and leave without food and even water, disappointed and frustrated.

Venusian28 A.

Yelp
Just so you know, they will charge you for dinner prices even if you order at lunch time. I am not sure if they do that to get extra money from customers or what. Also, whoever picked up the phone to take orders was very terrible on 2/16/24. Zero customer service manners. I hope the new owner will find a time to train the staff on customer service.
google avatar

Ashley V.

Yelp
Food was really good this time, the young kid running the register is less than friendly but great job on the food....
google avatar

Joey G.

Yelp
This is my favorite Asian place in Denver. The food is delicious. They don't skimp on the portions and the staff is friendly. I will be coming back here often.

Jim B.

Yelp
They were shorthanded when I was there so I can't say anything about the service, but the Kung Pao Tofu was the best I've ever had. Based on that alone, I recommend this tucked away restaurant in Old Englewood to anyone seeking fIne Chinese cuisine and I'm betting their Thai dishes are also great.
google avatar

Angie W.

Yelp
I ordered the sesame tofu, hot and spicy soup, and egg rolls. The sesame tofu was delicious! The sauce packed a lot of flavor. I loved the soup- great consistency, spicy and also flavorful. The egg roll was crispy at least on the outside but mushy on the inside so that was a little disappointing. My food arrived early too which was great! The only real thing I didn't like was the $15 minimum. It was just me ordering so I got a lot more food than I could eat.
google avatar

Lily S.

Yelp
Bistro King, what an untelling name! I guess it is Asian fusion, but you'll be better off not ordering Chinese here. We did, the stir-fried scallops dish was all wrong: the scallops were not fresh and therefore smelled fishy, it was hard to get that down... We enjoyed the Chicken Satay appetizer and sushi rolls though. With limited Asian options around this neighborhood, I guess Bistro King provides nice shades and "cool-off" items for the summer time. Not sure I'll find anything too interesting in the winter, maybe curry?
google avatar

Bruce J.

Yelp
I had the "Happy Family" and was blown away. You get everything you could want. Fresh vegetables, rice, shrimp and scallops. I only wish I'd taken a picture of it. Best meal I've had in a long time...
google avatar

Amanda B.

Yelp
Get the crab cheese wontons. Best on the planet. You won't be disappointed, I promise.
google avatar

Micah L.

Yelp
I have eaten here a lot and I've got to say it is very consistent. I've tried lots of different dishes and although I haven't had anything that has blown me away, everything is very good with great portions. I would definitely recommend as a well priced tasty quick middle of the week type of restaurant.
google avatar

Diana W.

Yelp
What's up with the high rating? Got the drunken noodles and pad Thai to go and they were both wayyy too greasy!! Pad Thai was cooked using some sort of round rice noodle and was so red and sweet it tasted like sweet and sour sauce. Not bow pad Thai should be. Drunken noodles were glossed in oil. The bottom of container was drenched with oil. On a positive note, their shrimp dynamite was small but tasty. And both entrees were loaded with chicken and beef.

William S.

Yelp
Sue is a great delivery and hard worker. She was prompt and a quick thinker. Wish there were more delivery drivers as pleasant as her.
google avatar

Abi H.

Yelp
DO NOT EAT HERE I got horrible food poisoning from eating at this nasty place. I had the shrimp with lobster sauce and within 3 hours of eating I was throwing up nonstop all night. I knew something wasn't right when I started feeling sick after just 30 mins. They do not have their health score posted anywhere for customers to see - seems suspicious to me. And after doing some searching online, I still couldn't find the health score. Based on what I observed, if they did post the health score, it probably wouldn't be very good. I suggest saving yourself the pain I experienced and avoiding this place at all cost.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food we received from Bistro King over Christmas. I came in to place a take out order and sat at the bar. While waiting for my food order, I was served ice cold Tsingtao and was checked on just enough. For 4 of us we ordered: Sesame Tofu, Tofu Drunken Noodle, Broccoli Beef, Dumplings, Wonton Soup, and Crab Cheese Wontons add 2 beers and our total with tip came out to about $77. Everything was delicious and cooked well. None of the dishes seemed greasy and all were delightfully seasoned. I can't comment on the Sushi or any of the seafood dishes. But if you're going down a traditional Chinese food order, you can't go wrong with the Bistro King!
google avatar

BJ B.

Yelp
This place is terrible. I have no idea how it has four stars. It's overpriced and probably some of the worst Chinese food that I have ever had anywhere in the country. We had the combination lo mein which was pretty tasteless and a little gamey tasting. Had a sponges gummy texture to it, the whole dish not just the noodles The Kung pow beef was basically beef, some bell peppers with a bunch of jalapeños. If I wanted Mexican, I would've gone to a Mexican restaurant Will never return. If anyone knows of a good Chinese restaurant in Denver, please message me
google avatar

Danny B.

Yelp
This place is the best. They accidentally forgot my order one time but they fixed it right away and also make great food! Hands down one of the best Chinese deliveries in the area.

Shana M.

Yelp
This place is disgusting and provided us with food that looked like they just threw it together and tossed it in a box. The sushi looked like people put their fingers in it. The egg drop soup had random bits of food in it that weren't supposed to be there and they WAYYYY overcooked the chicken fried rice. Would avoid and will never order from there again.
google avatar

Stanford P.

Yelp
I love Bistro King, I will never understand how this place isn't constantly packed with customers! Great food and service, highly recommend, great parking too.
google avatar

Ralph W.

Yelp
This is our go to Asian delivery. If you call the restaurant directly you don't have to go through third-party delivery apps it arrives hot fresh and delicious. I recommend their Mongolian beef and sesame shrimp. Their sushi is not bad either but more of a dining experience. In our area it's got the best choices please everyone in the group.
google avatar

Deidre R.

Yelp
My husband stopped by because McDonald's was too busy so decided to try them. I tried them a few times and they were great but this last time was not very good. Everyone's food came out good but my sesame chicken was nothing but fried tempura batter covered in sauce and sesame seeds. Will not be returning.
google avatar

Shar S.

Yelp
So glad my coworker and I chose delivery from Bistro King tonight. The delivery was prompt, and everything was delicious! The lemongrass mussels were flavorful and cooked to perfection, the egg drop soup was hot and tasty (loved the small chunks of tofu, without an overload of vegetables like other places do), and the sushimi (I got the red snapper) was so fresh! Next time, we'll dine in to get the full experience!
google avatar

Jeramie S.

Yelp
I ordered delivery. Got black pepper chicken and there was virtually no chicken, giant chunks of barely cooked veggies and no flavor. Requested beef satay with no onion and the box was loaded with onion. Will not make the mistake of ordering from here again.
google avatar

Callie J.

Yelp
It's off the beaten path a little, so this couldn't be classified as anything more than a HIDDEN GEM!! The food was absolutely amazing! We are huge fans of The Sushi Den, but this place was equally comparable for both sushi and Chinese/Thai food. Also, on a Friday night in Denver, there was no wait to be seated, let alone getting our food and when we did get our food, everything was presented so pretty (rice in a heart shape). Overall, this became our new favorite oriental restaurant, hugely recommended!!
google avatar

Aniza C.

Yelp
Such a scram Why you ask because he who delivered the food took money from me when I paid online on my card
google avatar

Michelle D.

Yelp
Quick. Affordable. Delicious. The staff is very friendly, too! Mix of Thai, Chinese and Sushi.
google avatar

S S.

Yelp
The outside doesn't do justice to this restaurant. They serve sushi, chinese, and Thai. We ordered cream cheese wontons and they were out in under 5 minutes - hot and delicious. My Beef Pad See Lew was served in under ten minutes - and was the best I've ever had..... Fantastic! Tons of tender juicy beef, perfectly prepared. My friend had the Pad Thai - he said it was very good. (Mine was better. Ha!)
google avatar

Ruth C.

Yelp
Okay food but for a price that doesn't match the dining experience. It is definitely off the beaten path and for us, we wished we stayed more on the path...but the other reviews made it sound so wonderful! Food was okay. Nothing great...and I even had the sesame chicken (a few people raved about it). My boyfriend had the Pad Thai (sp?) and he said it was just okay. We had the urge (or should I say, *I* had the urge, to have some Chinese), and unfortunately it did not scratch my itch. We walked in and the workers were eating at a table right in the front...pile of bones in the middle of the table. Guess they had the duck? Not sure. The fountain in the entryway had towels all around it. We thought they were there because maybe it was leaking, but apparently the force of the water was coming out too strong and was splashing everywhere. Seems like something they should be able to adjust. The dining room decorations were pretty non-existent and did not add to any of the dining experience. Probably not going to go back to this one! I could see how folks in the area who are hungry may order delivery from here so they can eat it in the comfort of their own home.
google avatar

Brad S.

Yelp
One of my favorite Asian food restaurants in The Englewood area and it has a lot of options. We have been ordering from Bistro King for years and love it. We enjoy their sushi, noodles, and chinese dishes. Also, the delivery is always fast and I can't remember a wrong order.
google avatar

Emilee D.

Yelp
The food here is wayyyyyy better than John Holly's. The sushi is delicious and the Chinese entrees are humongous! For sushi, I tried the volcano roll, shrimp tempura roll, and tuna asparagus roll. For entrees, we had the Szechuan chicken and combination pan fried noodles. We could barely make a dent in it. I also had their long island iced tea. Holy cow! They pour heavy here. It was tasty, though.
google avatar

Maria F.

Yelp
Delivery was fast and driver was professional. This is your pretty standard take-out Chinese food place. The food isn't stellar but it's pretty good. I enjoyed the sesame chicken. I would order from here again!
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
So currently it states my order is running a little late, which it is not an has been delivered. I put in the order and it stated it would arrive between 745-805 or so? Seeing that I'm in my room, on the second story watching a movie on blast and painting my doors in my room. I then receive an email I see saying to call the restaurant to not further delay my order. As I do I get on the phone with a girl who has no idea what I'm talking about so she puts on her manager. She explains the delivery driver had already come (7:15) and tried calling. This is my fault as I have a few numbers on file and the direct one was charging and dead. Though I wasn't expecting a call for another 30-45 minutes. I was talking to the manager and she hung up on me. I immediately called back and got a run around saying I can put in an exact time with future orders. I explained I put my order in and it stated a time and every time I use grub hub I get an email stating-my delivery was picked up and on its way... I never received this. She didn't seem to grasp what I was saying and after a five minute conversation of her going around what I was talking about she told me to contact grubhub with my order I said thank you and hung up. I called grubhub and told them what happened and they offered to give me 50% off my next order, I told them that was unnecessary,as they were not the ones being rude but I wanted them to know how the company they are working with treated there customers. Honestly I do not know who I was suppose to contact in regards to this issue. The food was incredible, I would given 4 stars if not for the manager I spoke with. She was rude and did not listen to anything I said. You could hear it in her voice that she was agitated at me and has now made it that I leave a negative review even though the food was so good. I do not want or expect discounts for this, I expect that the owner has a conversation with this manager and teaches them better customer service skills.
google avatar

Kristen W.

Yelp
Fresh and fast delivery with tasty main dishes! A little pricey but my favorite in the area!

Nancy M.

Yelp
The best Asian restaurant around. They have the best crab cheese wontons and egg drop soup. The entrees are always fresh and and super tender juicy meat. Tonight they had forgotten and appetizer and came back out with a large order of it very quickly rectifying the situation. We had a cranky cousin visiting who called in the problem and they were still super polite and quick to turn the situation around. Highly recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Jenna T.

Yelp
Okay get ready for a big roast: *service is literal trash *waiter is very rude *food is cold *got sass when we asked for water *order was wrong *stuff we didn't order getting added to bill Food is good WHEN DONE RIGHT service is just trash and they were super duper mean
google avatar

Deena P.

Yelp
Service was great I had the combination Lo mien and the portion size was above average. For an appetizer we ordered the cheese and crab wontons and they were also good. I would eat there again
