Bitter Root Brewing

We visited July 2025. We sat upstairs and it was warm! My husband enjoyed the beer. We ordered the brisket Mac n cheese (could use more brisket in it) and smash burger - both were good. Has indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating you have to order at the bar in the main floor - no table service outside. Parking is tricky - not much available. We got there at 5pm on a Monday night and there were three tables open. When we left at 6pm or so, there was a ton of people waiting to be sat. So get there early!

Brisket bowl and brisket tacos are great! Highly recommended! I also appreciated that when my husband and I wanted to split a beer, THEY SPLIT THE BEER FOR US, and served us one beer in two small glasses. Thank you so much you guys that is great service. Cheers!

The food is always fresh and flavorful.. we like to bring clients here while we are spending time with them, and today was no exception.. after bragging about the friendly wait staff, affordable prices and tasty food, we brought our new to the area clients for lunch!! Everything did what we bragged it would do, and tasted as good as we said it would!! We will eat here again, and so will our clients!!

Food here is always really good but I went a couple weeks ago and they changed the menu I was so disappointed they got rid of the Thai wrap and bowl and my favorite the blueberry burger 🥺 Also they were busy and the lady with the accent behind the bar actually told us if we wanted to leave it was fine with her, not the way to make customers feel welcome or valuable. Disappointed with our experience for sure.

Haven't been to the Brewery in a bit, but when I lived in Hamilton it was my go to for beer. The food options are also great! I also love the Sawtooth Ridge and the Seasonal Huckleberry beer is my favorite during the summer that I always look forward to!

Absolutely love this place! All of the food I have had here is delicious and they have many options to please the whole family. Items range from vegetarian options and meat lover options. It is first come first serve for tables so be aware of this if coming with a large group on an evening and especially on the weekend! The servers are quick to take your order and knowledgeable about their drinks and menu. Can be loud when busy, but they have outdoor seating which can aid in a quieter atmosphere. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a well cooked meal!

A chill environment with excellent food, drinks, and service. The food is fresh and flavorful, highly recommend the Berry Good Burger, Parmesan Garlic Fries, and Hamtown Mule. Even the kids chicken strips were the best I've ever had!

Never had a bad meal here! Love, love, love the Korean fried chicken with Korean fries. Chicken is crunchy and savory, and the fries are never soggy and have a kick. Their nachos are so tasty too (lots of toppings and the cheese is superb)! Staff is great as well, always friendly. Highly recommend.

Started with the cheese curds and Had the shrimp tacos which were amazing! Service was fast and they kept checking up on us. Probably some of the best service I had at a restaurant in a long time. Atmosphere is very welcoming and laid back. Definitely recommend this place.

A brewpub that is all killer and no filler. Comfy sorta modern industrial vibe but excellent service. Staff may be great actors but they seem to enjoy the place. Brews are solid--really liked the brown ale. The quality and quantity of the food are the real surprise. Most brewpubs have mediocre offerings and mediocre tasting food. Not here. Highly recommend the brisket bowls--plenty of brisket OM top of Cole slaw, etc. tasty combination. But absolutely order the garlic Parmesan fries. OMG. Crunchy, and cheesy. So good!

Bitter Root Brewing is one of the older Montana breweries that I came across in my recent beer adventures in the Big Sky state. The beer that I got for our enjoyment was a fruit beer. Sometimes these types of beers can be pretty sugary and be a bit much. But that wasn't a problem with Huckleberry Honey Ale. Yes, it was sweet. No doubt about it but it wasn't it's dominant feature which was great and made this fruit beer a fun one to drink. Flavors to play around on your tongue with this beverage are sweet, fruity, honey and subtle. The subtle is probably the mechanism at play where nothing comes off too heavy handed , making the flavor profile well balanced. The beer is light bodied which is great as the summer time temps crank up the thermometer the light bodied beers are most appreciated.

Great place for a beer and food is delicious and menu options great. Sat at the bar and had great service, good conversation too. Highly recommend stopping here for a beer and food.

Food is amazing. Nachos, wings and burgers were great. Service was a wee bit slow tonight but not annoyingly. It's a brewery so don't go for candle light dining. Ambience is that of a brewery. Dirt church is my go to.

I came a second time and tried the burger that had cheese curds in it. Yummy! Place was amazing as always!

We sat at the bar thinking we'd have a quick beer and leave but Matt took such great care of us that we decided to stick around for some food as well! We were NOT disappointed! Make sure to try the honey basil sriracha sauce with whatever you eat. The brussel sprouts were delicious and so were the cheese curds. I can't emphasize enough how wonderful the staff was! Food amazing, beer amazing! Will definitely be back anytime we're in Hamilton!

A new menu dropped. The salman dishes were removed and the menu is now heavy on brisket dishes. I'm wary of brisket since it can often be fatty. I tried the huckleberry avocado toast. Horrible. When I looked at it, I thought where's the avocado? I couldn't see it. The 2 pieces of toast were laden with huckleberry marmalade, which was the only thing I could taste. There were 3 small thin pieces of avocado per piece of bread. I couldn't taste it since the portions were so skimpy and smothered by probably much less expensive jam. It was overly sweet and not my idea of avocado toast. I'll skip this place until the menu changes again. I looked forward to a good restaurant meal and what I chose was truly bad. I wish I had stopped eating and not finished it. I felt queasy after eating it, I think because I'm not used to eating so much sugar. The service seems to have gone down too. I was ready to order and a woman was washing dishes while I waited. I finally told a passing wait person that I was ready to order.

I will say this place has improved to at least four to five stars. I will retract what I said in my poor rating above.

Had the smash burger and it was way overcooked, chewy, and dry. Tripled the fry sauce so it could be chewed. Did the salad as a side, and it was standard. My traveling companion ordered the smoked brisket bowl and said it was so good that he had to eat it all right then. So I probably should have ordered something different. Great quirky interior decorations and very friendly service.

Family Friendly. Great quality. Worth every penny. Authentic Montana! The Service was . Coming back for sure!

Love coming here for a solid, filling meal. Beers are always great, and haven't been let down with the food. Servers are always smiling, and the live music is fun.

I have never had a bad meal here. Service is always exceptional. My granddaughter loves the fish n chips with huckleberry lemonade. My go to is the Tazon.

Pub fries were delicious! Stopped in for a quick bite to eat with the husband and we left pleasantly surprised by the taste of these fries. Definitely recommend. Good atmosphere and friendly staff.

We love the BR. The food is creative and always a surprise that one is never sure what you will get in a brewery. The ambiance is an upbeat approachable hip vibe. Very friendly staff gets the job done without being obtrusive. Always a good time. Popular place so we always try to go early. They also sell swag and it's always changing which makes it fun to collect!

The food was uninspiring at best. The turkey melt although with half a sandwich seemed to be a large portion was a large piece of bread with two thinly sliced pieces of turkey. With too much cheese to hide the lacking of meat. The BLT again looks good but when you dig into it you find undercooked bacon and lack of it. An aioli sauce that was not much more than water down mayo. The service was definitely better than the food. The oatmeal stout wasn't bad though and we'd recommend that if coming here to do so for the beer and not the food. When we spoke with the waitress she committed that the cost of Avocados where expensive! Like in reality at retail $.98 avocados has to do with a $11 half sandwiches lack of meat on it.

I love finding new offerings on the seasonal menu. The brisket, in any choice, is the right choice. The Kitchen provides great food, the Servers are unfailingly pleasant & attentive. The brews, cold & delish! Great local business that does it all right.

Love the place, great service and amazing waitresses. I just ordered the fish tacos and it was the best. Didn't finished it cause my social anxiety but when I got home, I inhaled it. Thank you for the great meal

The best wings I've had here. They were juicy and not overly salted. Even the boneless wings we got as appetizers were good. The gals inside were nice, and helpful. Didn't have much of a drinking option as far as non alcoholic drinks but nonetheless, it was good.

Service always outstanding. Food very well prepared. Nice clean place with a great atmosphere.

Ordered take out and got the stuffed artichoke bottoms. They were good but nothing out of this world that I would order them again. For me a little too oily and citrusy maybe but someone else might enjoy that. My main dish was the humble bowl and that I would order again and again. I was a big fan of everything in this bowl and didn't want it to end. I'd definitely try out this place if in the neighborhood.

I rolled into this establishment with the pure intention of wetting my whistle. To my surprise, I received more than a titillating awakening of my palate with an array of sweet pleasure in the form Of microbrews... what awakened my senses was the accompaniment of flavors that not only filled my belly but blossomed my soul. Pure magic is brought to the culinary experience here... as if tiny fairies were blowing their pixie dust onto each and every fusion of flavors. Nothing short of masterful here, and you won't leave without someone knowing your name...

A recent query on FB proved many in the area thought BB had the best Nachos in the area. I was anxious to try them. We had stopped in about 7 years ago but left after a few minutes because no one (servers) noticed us. Today, we thought we'd try it again. We sat down in the small area and I looked at my phone for the time. Not disappointed, a server arrived with menus within 1 minute. He took our order and left. Minutes later he returned with our drinks. Never to be seen again. My husband went searching the near counter for salt and pepper. It would have been nice to have him return to check on us, satisfaction of the food or refill drinks. My husband grabbed the attention of a server walking by to obtain our bill who apologized. Well, I'm just not sure what she apologized for... I heard the words; sorry, drinks and maybe server as she was turning and walking away. We paid our bill and left. I've included pics of our food. The Nachos were the worst! The Fish & Chips were amazing, maybe some of the best we've had in MT but we won't be back. It's obvious why.

Love the food. It's different from other local restaurants. The service is decent. There is a din of noise at times that makes it difficult to hear.

Pretty good place. The hotel receptionist recommended it for "good bar food." I ordered the Sriracha Honey Basil Hell Fire wings because I thought the name was interesting and I like a good wing. They were tasty, but not as spicy as I thought they would be with the name "hell fire". I also ordered the "Humble Bowl" because it had a lot of yelp reviews. I wasn't impressed. The cod was cold, the slaw was too saucy and it was bland. Perhaps the cod is supposed to be cold, but when I see "grilled cod" in the description, I expected it to be hot. Nonetheless, I would def order the wings again. 3.5 stars. Happy Dinning!

Wow! What a delight! We were driving through town, and saw the sign and had to stop! Love the beer choices. I tried the huckleberry pale ale, and my husband tried the fruit-based sour (raspberry?). Both cold and delicious. The menu was awesome- locally sourced and creative! We had a small salad with Arugula, sesame seeds, avocado and cucumber with their red chili rice vinegar. Really good. We split the Cowboy burger- cooked perfectly to order on a soft ciabatta bun, piled with fresh veggies. And we had to get the side of fried cheese curds. Everything coming out of the kitchen looks good! I so wanted. To order. More. Food, but we were full! As amazing as. the food was, the service was better! Very nice people and helpful!

Smaller building with a unique atmosphere, feels very welcoming. Large portions for a great price. I ordered Brent's BLT- it was one of the largest BLTs I have ever seen and was super good. My husband ordered a bhr which was also very large, he continues to rave about it to all of our friends. For appetizer we had the cheese curds that were a little too greasy for us but they were all gone by the time our food got there. Not too expensive. We had an appetizer, two entrees, a beer and a root beer and it did not break the bank like other restaurants do.

Although a bit pricey, the food was delicious! My husband and I ordered the tuna melt with garlic Parmesan fries. They were even kind enough to split the sandwhich, serve it on two plates, and gave us a decent amount of fries! Btw the ranch was to die for! They make it in house and they don't charge you for the sauce. The beer was alright. I had the huckleberry honey.

A best of anywhere that one can go to eat, or take out with confidence it will be delicious in a great environment or your own environment! And... I hear Bitter Root Brewing is now at Linda Vista Golf course in Missoula, a way cool place to enjoy Bitter Root Brewing's tasty brews.

I decided to go and check out this place before I met up with friends and thought it would be quick but boy I was wrong. My waiter was rude from the very start and gave off an unfriendly aura. But the worst part was that after we ordered it took about 1 hour for our food to come and we decided to just leave after wasting an hour because there were still 2 tables ahead of us that hadn't received their food yet and was gonna take another 15 mins. I would definitely not recommend and especially if you are in a rush.

Great food - great service - great prices. Buddy and I could not believe how cheap our tabs were - coming from Midwest prices. Cheese curds and nut brown ale and fantastic. Highly recommend.

This is a must stop restaurant when I have visitors. The staff are knowledgeable about the food and drinks and are very fast and kind. The food is super amazing and I love that the beer batter is made using their beer. The 2 things I most appreciate is that they have good homemade lemonade and that their food is not too salty.

Service was great, pizza was fresh and flavorful, the scotch ale was more than I expected. I will return the next time I'm in town

Delicious pizzas and good beers on tap, nice place to go and relax for a drink and lunch or dinner.

The chicken tenders are great and are my "go to" when eating there. The burgers are pretty good, too, but since I don't care much for the other types of items on their menu I can only speak to those two meals.

3.5 actually. Pretty descent and worth stopping by if your in town for a few. Service was 5 star, but the BBQ sandwich didn't hit the high notes and I didn't quite find the beer that I was hoping for. Cool spot though and great people.

Wow! 50 minutes waiting for bar food with not a single check-in from the rude waitress. Then, when we finally tracked her down for an update, we were told there were still at least a couple large tables ahead of us. Life's too short to sit around waiting for mediocre food.

Great flight tastings and food here made going here well worthwhile. Very cozy brewery to hang out and their service and waitress was great.

We've been searching for really good vegan (plant based) restaurant food. We found it yesterday. There were many options on the menu that we look forward to exploring in the future. I had the falafel, best I've ever had, and I've traveled through parts of the Middle East. It was a large patty, crusty on the outside and moist and flavorful on the inside. See menu for details about the wonderful salad that is drizzled over it on s bed of really yummy rice. My partner tried both veggie tacos but made them vegan by having the cheese removed. She was thrilled and delighted! The service was very attentive and professional. She was very present, listening and informed. Ironically we don't drink beer anymore.

Favorite place in the Hamilton Montana. Been going there since 07..Never changes food excellent!! Beer Amazing. But it's the ppl that work there also. Just the best food and Place!! Do yourself a favor go there

Love stopping in for a beer and food. Had a IPA and Fish Taco - "yum", I am not sure what all they put in but it is delicious and the Salsa is wonderful and makes you want more.

Boring awkward atmosphere ...a little too local and nothing really good enough to get excited about. Would rather drive to Missoula and get some real food.

It's not my least favorite brewery out of all the others in the bitterroot.... The staff is friendly. The beers are OK. This is just another brewery to check off. Try it out and make your own informed decision, but it is not outstanding and will not leaving a lasting impression.

Good beer, good food, good people. I'm never disappointed and I love the outdoor patio in the summer.
