The 8 Best Coffee Shops In DC

"We don’t love chain coffee shops, but we do love Bitty & Beau’s in Georgetown, where you’ll find staffers with Disabilities running the show. Once you order, you’ll get a playing card that’ll get called when your drink is ready. Most folks are popping in and out, but the best way to enjoy Bitty & Beau’s is by posting up at the bar and watching your coffee get made. It’s the perfect chance to learn about the baristas—who might encourage you to follow the company on Instagram just to watch the in-store ticker add you to the tally." - tristiana hinton

This place is awesome! Their employees are super sweet, the atmosphere of this place is uplifting and professional. They have a wall where you can pin 📍 the place you are from! The coffee is freshly brewed and worth the price. ☕️

today. The coffee was fabulous and not over priced. We ordered a 12oz chai ($5) and a 16oz iced dark chocolate mocha ($5.50). The mocha was to be expected from a mocha. I am particular about my chai, there was a subtle chai flavor, milky, not too sweet. The cashier was awesome, very kind. The other staff making the coffees could have been slightly more friendly. The coffee shop was very cute, clean. There is also access to a bathroom with purchase. If you're coming here to do work, there aren't really any seats in the cafe. Overall, would come again!

Additionally, browse through a selection of cups, t-shirts, and other accessories available for purchase. If you're in Georgetown, make sure to stop by, have a fresh coffee and a nice chat with the friendly people working here.

What an amazing feeling to walk in a coffee place and be welcomed with warm smiles from employees with Down Syndrome! I ordered what I needed and received everything in time and with a great smile. People with disabilities need more chances like Betty & Beau’s to be able to contribute to society like everyone else. Thank you and keep growing domestically and internationally!

This is a really respectable company – definitely worth reading into their mission. While the service was great and quick, I wouldn’t say the coffee itself is a “must-try,” as I thought my americano had a weird savory flavor. Also, there’s very minimal space to sit with friends so definitely not a coffee date/chat place. Still, it’s a great option for a quick to-go cup while out in the neighborhood!

I love Bitty & Beau's. There's so much positivity and enthusiasm among the employees, and I value that they hire individuals with disabilities, because as a person with disability, I find myself experiencing discrimination, despite my ability to do the job well. I told them that I was getting a Valentine's day present for my boyfriend, and they helped me pick the the right bundle of desserts for him. Cake pops are only $3, which is good for the Georgetown area, and also really tasty. Other pastries are not too expensive, and have the flavor profile. Coffee is pretty good too.
