Bivouac Ciderworks Opens Its Adventure Lodge and General Store in North Park | Eater San Diego

"Opening Friday, March 1, the towering 5,700-square-foot Adventure Lodge & General Store combines two adjacent dance studios with the original tasting room to create a lofty, circular space that resembles a giant hipster yurt beneath a central skylight; a stone tasting bar anchors the room with 20 taps pouring Bivouac’s core lineup plus experimental ciders and local collaborations (including a pear cider made with Oddish Wine and a fortified plum wine by Seven Caves Spirits), a guided 30-minute tasting designed to show cider’s nuances, and a Parisian-styled sidewalk café serving daily pastries from a nearby pastry chef, espresso and tea, non-alcoholic cider, kombucha and tonics. To encourage lingering and minimize waste, beverages are served in mugs made by a local ceramicist with no to-go options. The General Store stocks Bivouac cans and sought-after ciders from around the globe alongside outdoor gear, camping supplies, and a curated assortment of gifts, art, books and more—mostly from women- and BIPOC-owned brands—and offers a “zero-waste snack bar” plus rotating “grab and stay” foods from salads and sandwiches to build-your-own charcuterie plates. The space is open 9 a.m.–9 p.m. Tuesday–Thursday and opens at 9 a.m. Friday–Sunday (closing at 5 p.m. on weekends to allow rentals for events and parties)." - Candice Woo

I chose this place to have a coffee because of its pretty good rating. What caught my attention the most was the design. I really liked the interior — it feels quite spacious. There’s also a large selection of board games, which is really fun if you want to spend time with friends or even play something together as a couple. We had matcha and coffee. The matcha was quite good, and the coffee was also decent. The only thing I didn’t understand was why the drinks are priced so high compared to other coffee shops we usually visit — that remained a question for me. Overall, though, it left a positive impression. I can’t really say anything bad about it. There wasn’t anything outstanding either, but the interior is very cool, and they also have some items you can buy. I liked it

I'll tell you what catches my eye first. It's the price of coffee, which I haven't seen in the city yet, a winner. It's quiet and peaceful, a huge ceiling. I think the taste of the coffee will satisfy even the most demanding consumer.

North Park GEM that you need to add to your list of places to visit. Lemme break it down for ya 1.Charming coworking space: The coworking area is super cute, complete with outlet strips beneath the tables for your convenience. 2. Cozy meets boho meets adventure ambiance: Designed to resemble a cozy yurt, the atmosphere gives off a camping vibe that makes you feel so homey. 3. Guided Cider Tasting Experience: For just $35 per person, you can enjoy a fantastic cider tasting. I reserved the same day with no issues! Huge shoutout to Jaye for guiding us through different ciders, their unique flavors, and fascinating history. I’m officially transitioning from beer to cider! Shh 4. Dog-friendly: A definite bonus for pet lovers! 5. Attention to detail: From the moment you enter, you’ll appreciate the thoughtfully curated decor and adventure camp aesthetic. Don’t miss the restrooms—they transport you to a stunning Grand Canyon vibe with jaw-dropping designs that must be seen to be believed. Trust me, they’re worth the detour! 6. Games: Need a break from work or studying? They have a whole table of games in the hallway leading to the restrooms. 7. OMG their fancy fries: We paired these with our cider tasting, and I can honestly say they are my favorite fries ever! I hear the rest of the menu is just as amazing, so I can't wait to return and try more. 8. Versatile event space: This venue is perfect for hosting events, whether it’s for an organization or reserving a space for a gathering with friends. Their flexibility is truly impressive. 9. Wonderful staff: Every visit has been marked by friendly, attentive interactions. Their laid-back yet welcoming demeanor creates a great experience. 10. Women-Led Team: The owner is a remarkable girl boss who has created this fantastic space, and it’s inspiring to see a women-led initiative thrive. If you don’t visit after reading these reasons, you’re seriously missing out!

Hosted my book club here and had the best time! Food & cider was amazing and the atmosphere is perfect if you are looking for something a little more chill than the restaurant side.

We had an amazing event at Bivouac Adventure Lodge today! We hosted an installation of officers for our charitable organization. After a lovely brunch buffet, we heard about the community togetherness mission of Bivouac from owner Lara. The cider mimosas were delicious and the beautiful surroundings made everyone so happy and relaxed. The food, service and atmosphere couldn’t have been better.

The cider here is really good and sometimes surprising. Like I never would have thought that s’mores cider would taste amazing. The polenta is bomb too. My videos are from my recent visit to the coffee shop/market side of bivouac. I got the strawberry matcha and thought it was okay but wouldn’t get again. I do like the design and overall vibe of the space though and would come back to try a different drink. I love that they don’t do takeout orders so they are cutting down on waste and encouraging people to slow down and stay for awhile whereas other coffee shops are removing outlets from the wall so people won’t stay for too long. Feels good to have a space like this!

I’ve been so excited about this concept in North Park. It truly is an experience. The cider is delicious and the atmosphere is exceptional. Even the bathrooms are fantastic 🤣 Love the general store… Locally sourced products are great. The food next-door is also great. Perfect way to spend the afternoon!

Stopped by to check this place out when I was in the neighborhood, absolutely amazing experience! I did the cider tasting with Maya, she was so knowledgeable about everything on the tasting list and I learned so much about the cider process. If you think you like cider, bivouac will change the game for you. It’s cider for adults, super sophisticated and complex but very drinkable. Their in house brewed ciders are crisp and delicious without being too sweet and they have a bunch of fun funky offerings from around the world. I’ll be back for sure!!
