BKC - Review - Mayfair - London - The Infatuation

"Biryani, kebab, chai. That’s what BKC, the name of this Awadhi spot in Marble Arch, stands for. But that’s not all you should try when you come here. The small plates, from the tangy, sweet, and savoury papri chaat, to the warming potato and vegetable-stuffed samosa with its thick crispy coating, are excellent. The lamb kathi roll—a paratha filled with a spicy lamb kebab and chutney, with a citrussy mint dip on the side—feels like the ultimate lunchtime upgrade from your Tesco meal deal wrap. And the tender shami lamb kebab evaporates on your tongue. It’s a comfortable but small spot with the kind of warm lighting that makes you forget what time it is outside, and rattan chairs that invite you to stay a couple of hours." - Rianne Shlebak

Excellent food and service! We were in London for a few days and wanted a change of pace for dinner. We are so happy we chose BKC. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we enjoyed our experience. The staff asked thoughtful questions and made great suggestions to satisfy all our palates. Everything was delicious and fresh. You know a restaurant is good when there are plants of locals enjoying meals. I know this will be a stop on our next trip to London!

I was more than impressed visiting @bkc.restaurant. Honestly my impressions were that it's a casual restaurant but I was quite wrong. Prices are on the higher end but oh my the food was top notch. The biryani was decent but in my opinion you can pass on that and go for the "kebabs" /grills instead. All the ones I tried - wow. The quality of the chicken, the marination and flavours made me think this is a top Indian restaurant. The galouti kebab (lamb) which I know as a tunde kebab just broke apart so easily. This is rare to find and just melts in your mouth. Generally all the grilled meats were fantastic. For curries I tried the lamb bhuna which was on the sweeter side but I really enjoyed the murgh makhni - perfect. Desserts held up to the mains as well. Falooda was great but my pick would be the gajar ka halwa because it was actually done properly. But even that gulab jaman was lovely. Quality food and I highly recommend.

Taste was very good but extremely overpriced!!!! 3 small pieces of kebab for £16-17!!! One pot of biryani £17. For one time it’s good but definitely i won’t go back (for the price!!). Also, the employees were very attentive (may be a bit too much because one employee almost snatched the glass from a table when the customer was still not finished. Probably they wanted to take the dishes to kitchen asap which looked very weird). Waited for ~20-30 mins which was still understandable because there were other guests before us waiting. We walked in and got a table straight away.

I tried the chicken biriani, galouti kebab, and house daal with roti and naan. The rice of the biriani was quite fragrant, the galouti felt like lamb tartare as it was very very soft and the daal was ok. I don't think I would go back, sorry. For indian food, it wasn't all that. The service is good though

Enjoyed the Lamb Biryani, Chicken Seekh Kebab and the Mango Lassi. The Biryani was really well done and the lamb was succulent. Really enjoyed the food experience, and we were fortunate to be able to walk-in that night.

From the moment we walked in on a Sunday morning our host showed great hospitality skills. From seating to menu recommendations, he was very helpful. The food was utterly full-flavoured and delicious, good size portions and well-presented. Large, very tender lamb chops. Huge portion of lamb biryani with accompaniments. Chicken lollipops and a great pink chai. Restaurant filled up quickly and the staff handled it well. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and a good value for the quality and flavours, particularly considering the location a few steps from Marble Arch. Highly recommended.

BKC: A Culinary Delight with a Minor Caveat (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐) My recent dining experience at BKC was nothing short of exceptional, with a minor caveat regarding the portion size of the chicken in the curry. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the attentive staff, who graciously accommodated us despite our lack of a reservation. The ambiance was inviting, and the service throughout our meal was impeccable. We opted for the butter chicken, a dish that proved to be a visual and gastronomic masterpiece. The vibrant orange hue of the tomato-based sauce hinted at the rich and flavorful experience that awaited us. The sauce was expertly cooked in butter and cream, resulting in a velvety smooth texture that coated the palate. The addition of fresh herbs elevated the dish further, and the quality of the ingredients and spices was evident in every bite. While the curry was undeniably delicious, I felt that the portion of chicken was slightly lacking. This minor shortcoming, however, was not significant enough to detract from the overall enjoyment of the dish. Despite the aforementioned caveat, BKC has set a high standard for both culinary excellence and customer service. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to any discerning diner seeking an authentic and unforgettable curry experience.

We came here after a trip to the Moco museum. The food was divine. Hubby enjoyed the selection of non veg platter and of course the signature chicken biryani. My matka chai was delicious and topped of a lovely day. We can’t wait to come back and are already finding excuses for our next trip into central London.
