I'm a Oyster Freak & Yes Black Crescent Has Amazing Tasty Oysters. Stopped by location on Friday Got Serviced by Tim. Who I informed I only had 15 mins but would love to try the Oysters. With a smile and kindness he said we can make it happen. When I tell you as soon as the Oysters came out they were Big and JUICY 😍 I'm actually going to go have some again today. Thanks Tim. We had such a great time here for happy hour with delish oysters and shrimp. Drinks are very good and aromatic and the bang bang shrimp are top...we'll be back.

I love hanging out here! The vibe is friendly, cozy and chill. Nice place to stop by for a drink before or after a dinner but also a great place to sit down for a happy hour beer and oops! end up staying all night and eating here instead. The whole staff is great and will take good care of you. Special shout out to Reynolds, who really sets the tone with his genuine warmth and ability to make everyone feel welcome and safe. I would also highly recommend this space for events, group hangs, birthdays, etc. I once participated in a watermelon carving contest and had so much fun and destroyed 2 watermelons in the process and my art was NOT pretty. But, damn. Good time. :) Go meet some people there!

One of my friends found Black Crescent and we decided to drop by. It was a chill Thursday afternoon, so it wasn't super busy. We easily grabbed a table by one of the windows. Their HH manhattan (or burning?) was nice. I actually liked my follow up more, the amber alert. This was suggested by our server after I mentioned I wanted something more spirit forward. Since they had oysters, we thought why not?! It's been a while since I've been out for oysters. Make sure to ask for hot sauce since the combo of lemon and hot sauce is delish. Vibe is kinda dive bar like. I'm not sure how it would feel if crowded, but for a slow afternoon, it was nice. We were able to talk and enjoy ourselves. Definitely worth checking out during HH.

I recently had an exceptional experience at Black Crescent. The atmosphere was inviting, the oysters were incredibly delicious, and the owner, Reynolds, added a personal touch that made the visit memorable. Five stars for a wonderful evening!

Ray Ray is a great bartender and host. The drinks and atmosphere are amazing. Was here by chance but will come here by choice, ok!!??the frozen Paloma and old fashions are mad good oh lemme not forget the pretzel!

I love this place! I was just walking by and I stopped here because I was attracted to the dim lights and Christmas light decor. I felt welcomed, as soon as I walked through the door. I sat at the bar. There was no one around me at the time. I enjoyed the ambiance and the 80's soft rock music. The bartenders were excellent and friendly. The menu seems like every other pub grub cuisine, although they serve oysters. But whoever cooks does a good job. Make sure to pop in for all you can eat Spaghetti Sundays!

Walked past this place earlier in the week and thought it looked so cute. When I was out last night, I remembered it and decided to pop in. It was our saviour because Nurse Betties and Lullaby's were already full. This place was mostly empty. Which sounds bad, but it was kind of the right mood. I think because it's so out of the way, it tends to be more chill on Friday. I will have to come back and see. The bar was even cuter at night. The gorgeous red lights and wood paneling. The staff was very chill, we sat ourselves and our waiter let us take our time deciding. We got the mint lemonade and the rabbit key. The mint lemo was too lemonade heavy for me. Tasted like Simply Lemonade lol. But the rabbit was pretty nice.(Missed my garnish tho!) I got some peppers too. They were quick and a nice snack. Definitely gonna get fries next time. I think their kitchen closes at midnight. We then moved onto the Cantina Tini was slapped. And then the Shi-Shi Le Le. Which slapped less but was pleasant. Throughout it all, the bar vibe was chill and warm. We were offered free mini frozen cocktail as a surprise! And I fucked up, they're delicious. Definitely will be back for the full thing. This place is really great. I was lamenting not finding some new spots. But this is definitely top of my list now. 15 dollar cocktails -- it's sad that it's now a good price, but I spent yesterday on 22 dollars a pop. Yeesh 20% grat it included in ALL tips which is interesting! I think that's why they can offer flat prices. We had such a great time we left even more. Worth the hike if you're not too far and the weather is good.

I refuse to live farther than a few blocks from this place. Amazing cocktails, great food, and even better people that run it! Black Crescent will always have my heart.

Some of the best service I've received in the city! My bf and I went in for happy hour and sat at the bar. The bartender was considerate and attentive without being overbearing. What we ordered- we got a mini frozen cocktail, the mint lemonade, and the sweet tea/vodka drink (that I cannot remember the name of). Having been born in a sweet tea-loving part of the country, it was nice to have it again since most places in nyc do not make it/buy it. Good vibes and yummy cocktails.

This place is awesome! We stumbled upon Black Crescent after a comedy show at Caveat. Good vibes, and the music was solid. They were playing a nice mix of retro 80s and 90s, classic rock, hip hop, etc. The owner is a cool guy named Reynolds, who knows how to make strong cocktails and incredible southern/ Texan bar food. All the bartenders I've met are cool and excellent at making drinks both on and off the menu. The best part of this place is the vibe. Everyone is friendly, and by the time you leave, you'll have made new friends. It's pretty cool to land at a bar where the night ends with a conga line! Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

Came here yesterday when it was pouring! The outside seating was very cute but we decided to sit inside since I was drenched already haha. Came mainly for their oysters! $2 wellfleet oysters and we got 3 dozen! And an order of waffle fries ($10). Dive bar with a very welcoming feel! All the workers were singing to songs and laughing and very nice greeting people. 3 dozen oysters and fries came out to about $90 (they included 20% tips)

My favorite bar in the lower east side hands down. Love the owner, he makes the best cocktails. This bar is vibey and chill and I always feel at home here. Also lots of great snacks including oysters!

This is my spot. You can always find me at the bar with a martini and some raw oysters (maybe even a Big Ass Pretzel too from time to time). Food and service always amazing. Vibe is fantastic. Highly recommended. Best bar in the Lower East Side. Hands down.

I'm going to say two things here to start off: Buy the empanadas. I don't even want to show y'all a photo of them so you can be surprised yourself. My first time here -- and I ordered 3. I ate 2 1/2 of them, my girl ate the other 1/2. Had the house Whisky, Maple bacon bowl and some fun and tasty amalgamation of liquor alchemy to create a custom green tea shot. On top of that, the staff was wonderful. Shout out Reynolds and Gillie for the amazing hospitality and service! Gillie was so bubbly and sweet. Truly a pleasure having her hang with us for an evening. Had a fantastic time with my lady and our friend. Unbelievably fun and cozy vibe. Feels like I'm off on the side of the road at a place I go to feel safe and warm. Not only that, you might get lucky and have a dope DJ come through and play some ill jams to keep the energy going JUST CUZ it was hit birthday like we experienced as well! Highly suggest you come by to enjoy life for a night!

No TVs, good lighting, great drinks, and a damn wizard at the fryer in back. So an excellent date spot, hangout, or meeting place. When you look at the menu here, it looks fairly standard-- what you don't know until you go in and order something is that everything is prepared to super high standards. So if you want some brilliant fried shrimp, get the bang bang shrimp. The waffle fries are delightful. And whatever drink I've gotten has been super good. Now granted, intent to drop by for happy hour and other non-busy times, but the staff here is always friendly and pleasant. It's one of my neighborhood go-tos. So if you want a great drink and something delicious and fried, this is your next stop. Go enjoy it.

This is a great bar in the LES. It's local, cozy and a good spot to stop in for a casual drink on a date or with a small group of friends (I'd probably limit it to about 4 people in my group.) The patrons and staff here are always friendly, I've never had a bad time coming here. I will continue to come back, I have no complaints! 5/5

Black Crescent has withstood the pandemic and that alone is impressive. So many bars have closed in the past year and a half, particularly if they didn't have a solid dinner menu back when food was required to order drinks. It's a small, unassuming bar on Clinton St. that boasts a solid, approachable cocktail menu with some fun, seasonal stuff and some classics. Came here for a friend's birthday on Saturday night. I do think renting out the whole bar is an option if you're willing to drop some $$$$, but she just reserved a few hightop tables, which worked out pretty well. A ton of folks came through so her party probably occupied 75% of the bar at one point, but as long as we were paying I don't think the staff cared either way. We had already eaten dinner before arriving here, so we can't speak to the food, but I got to sample a bunch of drinks between me, my fiancé and some friends. My first drink was the Shi Shi-Le Le (Lemongrass, Gin, Fresh Lemon, Thai Basil, Mint), which was probably my favorite of the evening. I've always been a fan a fan of drinks that feature Thai and East Asian ingredients, in this one was perfectly balanced, herbaceous, savory and slightly sweet. The fiancé started with the Foux De Fa Fa (Herbs de Provonce, Fresh Lemon Suze, Gin), which was a yummy and refreshing gin highball. The Rabbit Key (Green Bell Pepper Gin, Fresh Lemon, Yellow Chartreuse, Honey) was probably the most polarizing drink of the evening (of the handful I tried), because bell pepper in a cocktail is not for everyone. Though I don't typically like green peppers in my food, I thought it worked beautifully in this drink, combining well with the botanicals of the chartreuse and the gin. The Amber Alert (Bourbon, Green Chartreuse, Cognac) is straightforward and boozy, but I surprisingly preferred it to the Black Crescent is Burning (House Blended Whiskey, Sweet Vermouth, Bitters), despite the fact that I love Manhattans. I found the latter to be a bit watered down, but it's possible that particular drink just sat in the shaker with ice too long. If it's not obviously that I'm a mixology snob, well here you go, this is me stating it plainly. Black Crescent is a great spot for an initial foray into cocktails, providing approachable drinks with a clear knowledge of technique. The bartenders are kind and efficient, and the vibe is fun without being insane in that typical Lower East Side way.

Great neighborhood bar with excellent, knowledgeable bartenders, and a little kitchen that puts out simple and tasty food. As well, an actual happy hour that will save you money. Highly recommended!

I am proud to award this bar the title of 'Best and Nicest Neighborhood Bar' This is the first time I've given out this award so it is a huge deal. The ambience is very low-key, but the quality of the food and drinks are that of a high end snobby restaurant. Check your attitude and your worries at the door because you will certainly be taken care of here by the friendly, charming and lovely staff. Consider getting hammered and horned up on their killer happy hour drink/oyster deals. A place like this is truly one in a million and I'm so glad it exists.

The Black Crescent bar was a great experience for my friends and I. The ambience, service, and friendship from everyone was fantastic. We arrived too late to savour their food menu but they were kind enough to give us some snacks to go with the wide assortment of drinks. Overall we had a wonderful time and I highly recommend the Black Crescent to all who enjoy the exquisite nightlife in NYC.

Came here while I was visiting New York & heard about their $2 Oysters! This was my first time having oysters & it did not disappoint. My friends and I started with 6 and ended up ordering another round. You can't beat this price! We also ordered the fish tacos & bang bang shrimp, both delicious! The sauce on the fish tacos was perfect! We also ordered the mint vodka lemonade which was seriously delicious, and i dont even like vodka. Also for the mini frozen drink which was very cute! Lol

Genuinely disappointed that I never came here while living a few blocks away - such a great spot! Happy hour is great, solid $2 oysters with all the fixins and possibly the best backet of waffle fries I've ever had? There are a decent amount of drinks on happy hour too but any other cocktail is only a few bucks more. Great service, great little bar and atmosphere with a lot of tchotchkes but in a fun and quirky way.

Came here on a weekday night for oysters and was happy to learn they have happy hour prices for oysters all night until sold out! their oysters are delicious, we had some beers and fries too. bartender/waiter were so nice and friendly. will def go again!

My friends and I decided to come here for Happy Hour, and surprisingly the drinks were pretty strong. Id never had oysters before but the staff were so helpful and friendly. Also they surprised us with complimentary bang bang shrimp! I'm definitely coming back :)

Nicest and friendly owner/bartender who made our night! We were enroute to another bar but due to the rain, decided at the last minute to stop by here. So glad we did. Upon seeing that we were a part of a bachelorette, the bartender went out his way to make the night a memorable one for us. He got the whole bar to sing for the bride (me), got us delicious frose like shots, a dozen deliciously fresh oysters and played a song requested (one of my favorites)! You really don't find friendly places like this much these days and I am so grateful for Black Crescent! Definitely want to go back!

Vibe was nice and the drinks were really great but we had this rotund bartender that was extremely rude. Maybe he was just having a bad night, but I wouldn't tell anyone to go here especially when there are so many great bars in the lower east side. Didn't try the food but what I saw looked tasty!

Been going here on and off for a couple of years and I'm so glad it's still going strong during these 'effing hard times. It's a proper NYC bar with a strange elegance that I cant quite put my finger on. The vibe is great and I've met so many interesting people here - it really attracts a great crowd (which my cynical brain says is becoming harder and harder to find in this mad city). The consistency of the bartenders is actually pretty fantastic. Doesn't matter what night I've been, they all seem to know the a thing or two and being a bit of a snob when it comes to cocktails, I like to feel humbled when I'm spending my hard/easy earned money on drinks. There is an air of friendliness that is impossible to ignore and it actually seems genuine. I imagine post covid it's going to be nuts again so maybe I shouldnt be recommending people coming here as it'll be harder to get a seat at the bar but now I live local I want to see the good bars survive. I'm bit of a selfish ass like that.

Awesome bar with rockstar staff. The bartender who serviced me last night was incredible--so kind, remembered everyone's order, and could make a million drinks a minute. They do not skimp out on alcohol in their cocktails and I was very appreciative of that. Somehow the drinks still taste great though. Love the space and the vibe--the Black Crescent sign is in Stranger Things font which I found cool. Also was a huge fan of the music. Lots of bangers but they added a tasteful mix of indie (think Peter Bjorn + The Strokes) and even some New Order. Got so excited I texted my friend who came right over too. Will definitely be back, hopefully to try some food too!

I've been meaning give Black Crescent a write up for years, and I've been here before for cocktails which I've always enjoyed but never had a substantial enough experience to write a review. I remember reading about the fire, and was happy to see them re-open with a fire pun-named drink on the menu- a dark sense of humor is always endearing. I was heading to Caveat for a show and needed something quick and nearby. They were still doing their happy hour menu and the place had only one other party there besides myself on a Sunday at 6pm. The cocktail, as usual, was fantastic. I ordered the El Burro: Mezcal, lime, cilantro, with coriander salt. It's strong, with a balanced kick, and refreshing, highly recommend it. That coriander salt is delicious. I also ordered oysters, Parmesan garlic chicken wings, and a deep fried shrimp item that comes with a light aioli over it. The food was solid, above average bar munchies and the oysters were fresh. The main draw are the cocktails, they get 4 stars themselves. And at least on this day, they were playing excellent dad rock: Billy Joel, Steely Dan, Psycho Killer. Perfect for catching a Sunday buzz. The only real thing that kinda rubs me wrong are the bartenders. I've seen a few people mention this, they're standoffish at best. Conversations happen begrudgingly, if at all. Someone, who I think may have been a manager or owner, was also in that day and he was super friendly and outgoing, chatting with me about the menu items and making jokes about whatever. Maybe he just steals the thunder when he's in the room ;) but if multiple reviews are mentioning it, it might be something to pay attention to.

Stumbled across this lowkey spot while having happy hour drinks in the LES. Person I was with had been there before and raved about it so we went to grab some drinks. I love how dimly lit the bar is, which makes it a perfect date night spot or even just chill place to grab a few drinks and chat with a friend. They have a few different cocktails on the menu that sound tasty, and also a decent selection of beer. I went with a beer from the menu (name forgotten), but it was pretty good and the waitress constantly came back by to check on us. I can reiterate how much I like the chill ambience of this place, compared to the mayhem you get at other LES bars in the area. I'd definitely come back.

This bar embraces cool themes and has decently tasty food/drinks but they seriously need to work on their service. The burger isn't anything fancy but it transports you back to summer bbq days when the meat juices are drippy. You can choose to add fries on the side for $6 or order a bowl of them for like $8. It's such a rip to get the side because they only give you 6-7 waffle fries. Modern day robbery if you ask me. But I was hungry so I was still happy. Unfortunately, the bartenders here are super standoffish and are only friendly with their colleagues/friends, some of whom were sitting at the bar chatting, on laptops etc. That's fine, I get it, but one of the bartenders rushed our group of four to leave to make room for others, so I had to quickly pay my tab... I didn't think we overstayed our welcome but guess we did!

The place is small and looks like a typical old LES bar. Inside is pretty hip but also a bit run down. They only have a couple of high tops and a bar. We went for the happy hour and ordered a lot of oysters. Oysters were fresh but they were really really small and after we ordered 2 dozens and some other customers in the house ordered they were out of oysters.. bummer. We also tried the fried banana which was my mistake. Breading wasn't done right so skin kept peeling off and it was just really odd. Happy hour drinks were also a bit expensive so even if the oysters were cheap, the drinks made up for it and our check wasn't too expensive. The servers were really nice though.

A real top notch spot! The drinks are great and the food is fantastic! Their cheese curds haunt my dreams. When I bite into them, it's almost like I'm at a dive bar in the backwoods of Wisconsin in all the best ways. The bartenders are hilarious and welcoming. Just don't act like an entitled dirt bag and you're gonna have a truly great experience. This place is a shining beacon amongst all the fuckery that is COVID.

Hella dope spot. Black Crescent is everything you'd like in your average neighborhood and personable bar. The bartender (mercedes) was super accomodating to me and my guest and our requests, while also being highly knowledgeable of our spirit-based tastes. The owner (Reynolds - who is also funny if you get the chance to chop it up with him) was super accomodating and seemed to be friends, or make friends, with everyone in the eastablishment. Thus, making it a very homely vibe. DRINKS: The old fashioned was smooth and excellent and their version of a Manhattan was strong and spot on. FOOD: The east and west coast oysters were fulfilling, and bbq wings were satisfying and had a bit of spicy kick to distinguish the flavor... Well done Black Cresent!

Stumbled upon this bar for a bachelorette bar crawl on and rainy night. Super fun bar with good music (bsb singalong!) and a tambourine! Bartenders and owner was so fun and nice to us! Def recommend!

They leave the door open on a 40 degree night. Let their bartenders be rude and talk down to customers. The waiter was great and nice, but this off the clock bartender decided to talk to my group in a obnoxious and entitled way about a door stopper. He then proceeded to mock me and my clothes when I made a complaint to him in his customer service. I work in the service industry and there is a way to talk to customer. I have never made fun of a customer or berate them over a door. Just because you work at a bar doesn't give you free reign to be a jerk. Will not be returning and will advise my friends not to as well.

Happy hour mon-sun 12-1am is so nice. In addition to the regular happy hour. Very cozy and intimate. Mostly 80s music. Bartenders are nice, rugged looking hipsters. I would come here for intimate gatherings, not for large groups.

Great creative cocktails, nice music and a festive atmosphere. Went with a friend tonight, and we came specifically for cocktails after dinner. We had a "Kissed by Fire" (or Fire Kiss?), infused with rosemary, delicious. We also ordered another cocktail with chartreuse, but I don't remember the name.

HAPPY HOUR ONLY SPOT! The place charges $8 for a pint at least for the IPA on draft and serves it in a tiny mug glass. One would think for a dive in LES that price should warrant a pint glass rather than the tiny pour of a mug that fits 8oz on a good day. 2 IPAs with tip was 20 bucks for a grand total of 15oz being generous of beer. Service was fine. That said, menu looks yummy and spot as a cool vibe. Would love to make this a neighborhood spot but non-HH prices for what you get doesn't make sense. However, good spot for HH but there are a 1000 better deals in way east LES. Would not recommend.

A great go-to for cocktails, happy hour, and not to mention $1 oysters at happy hour! It's never too crazy crowded and the bartenders and servers are all low on the crankiness level. I recently tried some of their food for the first time and really liked it, too! We got the chicken wings, waffle fries, and bang bang shrimp and though the portions weren't huge, the flavors were great and hit the spot as we guzzled drink after drink. They were also cool with one of our party bringing in a birthday cake and candles, which we appreciated!

Black Crescent is a highly underrated destination for happy hour oysters downtown. There are several spots well known for their $1 oysters in the city. From Maison Premiere to Mermaid Inn, you almost have to take a 1/2 off work to get in line and ensure you get a table to partake. Here, it's a much more manageable scene with nice people working the room, good beers and cocktails, and of course, a solid bill of fare as well. Happy hour runs from 5-9pm Sunday - Wednesday, and 5-8pm Thursday - Saturday. Lots of time to enjoy one of the finer things in life, doused in mignonette and paired with a crisp adult libation.

Unfortunately, this review is based on the service at the Bar. I just left here to go to Pig and Khao which has AMAZING service. The bartender with the man bun made my Moscow Mule with FLAT seltzer. It was hard to drink, I only had a few sips from it. My boyfriend had told him politely that it didn't taste well. The bartender had to repeat the "3 ingredients" to me. I know what a Moscow mule was, but he had pointed to a plastic bottle of Seltzer that was sitting in the ice bin behind the bar. He didn't offer to make me another drink. Instead, I had asked if he can make me an LIT. (The drink was so horrible, I needed something sweet/refreshing to cleanse my pallet) His response was "we don't make LIT". I had asked him if he had any juices (for example: cranberry or OJ) and his response was "we only have Tito's and Kettle One". Great response. He had an "I don't want to be there" attitude, and guess what, so did I. I left this place immediately and I won't be coming back here TLDR; Don't make a Moscow mule drink if you don't know how to make one, let alone if you don't have ginger beer.

I have been coming to the Black Crescent for over two years and it's my favorite bar in New York City. The team creates the warmest atmosphere with amazing drinks and outstanding food. Cannot say enough great things about the people that take so much pride in this business. If you're in the neighborhood, it's perfect on any night. If you're across town, it's worth the trip!

There is absolutely no better bar in the LES. Top notch cocktails, top notch service, and a commitment to making sure you have the absolute best time imaginable. If you're going to a bar, it needs to be the Black Crescent!

We stopped by after wandering around on a Friday night. This is a low key bar that has a couple of tables and a bigger bar area. Definitely a no frills kind of place, but they've got a great happy hour oyster menu. We ordered a few oysters each, the waiter gave us good recommendations. I think it was $1-2/oyster in happy hour! This has a nice lowkey atmosphere, I'd recommend this for a casual date spot or happy hour casual location.

My wife and I are always seeking out new and exciting culinary experiences. And cool, fun, nifty haunts to drink beer or cocktails. If you can combine them, it's a plus+. I had a business reason to visit Black Crescent and the proprietor had graciously invited me back to enjoy his establishment. Having sought out a new burger joint, we headed to 10th & Ave C but during the wait for service I recalled Black Crescent and before any order was placed and any water was placed, we excused ourselves to the barkeep and walked the 15 minutes to the corner of Rivington and Clinton. And what a corner it is. A whirling dervish of activity and people rushing about entertaining anyone who takes a moment To. Just. Look. at the frenzy of frenetic activity. Once you step inside the rustic woody interior of the small open space of the bar/restaurant, the generous cornered windows allow for a more silent perusal of the spectacle of the neighborhood. My wife discussed with the server a sweet martini type drink and after he in a most NY manner defined a martini vs what my wife wanted, he had the bartender design something with like 5-6 different ingredients. It was most delicious, TWICE. I had the light pale Pilsner on tap and on the Happy Hour menu. After 24 East Coast oysters, $1.00 each, we were provided with Bang Bang Shrimp. Crunchy, succulent and richly flavorful and a solid hint of heat. They were a perfect kick off into the burgers, one signature and one vegetarian option. Both small sized and delicious; we split them and shared the taste. The inside setup is a combination of 4 tops around the periphery and a nice center floor group high top good for up to 8, possibly 10 in a Party. The ample bar corners opposite the windows. All seats at the tables manifest a great street view. I repeat this because this is a real neighborhood. And the view is essential to the charm of the place. Kudos to Jamie, an attentive and engaging host and server. We will be back.

Absolutely fantastic wellfleet oysters on a Friday night with a tasty house named Pilsner. Great price and doing the best they can with atmosphere during COVID. Top notch service

Who knew they had the best mac'n cheese ever! Not to mention fried cheese curd!! I left so so happy! And happily buzzed from a killer martini:)
