Quite a nice restaurant, got a reservation for 6:30pm, but I arrived early and they sat us early! The waiter Zack was quite nice, gave some good recommendation of wine. The service was a bit slow, but understandable as it was getting busy. The food was alright. I did really enjoy the ravioli and the meatballs. The vibe was quite nice too. I’m hoping to come next time during brunch.

I was taken here for my birthday dinner and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The staff was amazingly helpful, friendly, and kind and made some great drink and appetizer recommendations. The food was spectacular and I especially recommend the lobster ravioli, meatball appetizer, and buffalo chicken sandwich. The cocktails were also really great. Overall I couldn’t recommend the Black Oak on Fifth more for anyone looking to have a lovely dinner.

Cute restaurant, staff very friendly and efficient! Food came out well. Ordered: Burrata, Meatballs, Cacio e Pepe and chicken. Spent about $150 including two glasses of wine and one dessert.

A relaxing and homely atmosphere! We ordered the meatballs to start - that was our favorite part of the meal! For mains we shared a Diavola Pizza and the king prawn pesto salad (specials for the day)! The pizza could have been cooked for a few more minutes but the taste was fantastic! The salad was bursting with flavor, we would have loved a few more prawns as there were only 2. For desert we went for the vanilla gelato, one word, stunning! Drinks wise, we shared a bottle of the Argentinian red and our desert drinks were an espresso martini and a pint of peroni! Over all we would give 7.5/10! Great experience

Good chouce for local brunch. Attentive service and solid good ambiance, though the metallic chairs are too cold to sit on even in warmer weather (especially when wearing a skirt). The avocado toast was good and big (a pear was an unusual addition) and an omlette came super filled with mozzarella (i chose it among other 3 ingredients). However, my cappuccino was lukewarm, with very fluffy foam though.

Back in Park Slope again and this establishment has such a welcoming environment with the best food. Dinner 3 out of 4 nights while in town, thanks Gloria and the Black Oak Staff! I have been visiting clients in the area and have eaten here 3 times now. The food is great, Zack has been my server 2 out of the 3 visits and also great. But special thanks to Gloria for recognizing my visits and making me feel welcomed to this establishment.

The pasta was delicious! The breakfast wrap was good too! Brunch until 4pm Sunday. 👍🏻

We had a really delightful meal here last night! It's kind of romantic-y looking, not too brightly lit, with candles on the table. Music playing but quiet enough that you can hold a conversation. It's totally casual, as befits Park Slope. Service was very good, attentive without being overbearing. Anything we needed was brought quickly. Everything we ordered was very good so I'm not going to review each dish. Everything I mention was very good We had: Focaccia, Diavola Pizza, Cacio e Pepe, Pasta Primavera, Butternut Ravioli, chicken fingers w/fries (ok, I cant really comment on the chicken fingers, they were ordered for our 3yo grandson and I didn't try them. But he ate them all) Also, the house red was a nice, full bodied, dry wine and my wife really liked the prosecco. We will definitely be back

Came here on a Wednesday for happy hour. The restaurant is very cozy and inviting. We were able to pick where we wanted to sit. I got a burger which was a standard tasty burger and came with fresh greens and blue cheese, which I enjoyed. The service was very slow but this was not the waitstaff's fault as the establishment only had 1 waitress for all the tables inside and outside. The place was pretty full for a Weds evening but it also is in a very popular area. Another discrepancy was we were charged the non happy hour price for one drink. When we asked about it, it was said because we ordered after 7pm but the menu says happy hour is 4-8. Nevertheless they fixed it on the bill. Overall the food was good but they need more waitstaff.

Chill ambiance, cool vibes, large windows, a large open looking space with good lighting, not heavily packed and overly loud, and some solid Italian food; what more can you ask for? They have a good selection of pastas and pizzas with various different ingredients to accommodate just about anyone. We got the Short Rib Tagliatelle and the Diavola Pizza, which paired nicely. - Short Rib Tagliatelle: Served piping hot and managed to stay warm the entire time we were eating. The tomato sauce was absolutely delicious and stole the show away from the pasta or the short rib. I kept dipping my pizza slices in that sauce. - Diavola Pizza: Think of all your spicy cured meats and sausages mixed with provolone and topped with sweet honey. Ingredients make up the perfect combination of flavors you can't resist. Pizza was quite large and is good for sharing if you aren't that hungry. This is the classic Italian style thin crust pizza, where the ingredients drop on the plate the moment you pick up a slice with your hands. Even though the short rib tagliatelle stole the show, this pizza was a close second. They have a great selection of cocktails and beers on tap. Perfect restaurant to come back to as your neighborhood spot for a quick dinner. Our food arrived fast and service was great.

I have dined at this establishment numerous times in the last two years while on business in the Park Slope area. To me a sign of a good restaurant is consistency in food and service and I have never been disappointed. A neighborhood feeling, friendly and comfortable with great food and I have never been disappointed.

4.5 stars Found this place and was excited to check it out so we planned a joint birthday dinner for 11 on a Saturday night. We made a reservation for 7pm and arrived to a quiet setting. We were seated at the bench closest to the pizza ovens which was comfortable and we had the perfect amount of space. The place did definitely fill up and get pretty loud while we were there so the reservation was a good idea for us. Our server, Joseph, was great! He was very patient with our group that was trying to decide what we were getting. I, myself am pretty indecisive about food and always enjoy a good recommendation. We ended up ordering the calamari, octopus, meatballs and prosciutto with burrata. Everything was good, but the prosciutto and burrata were extra yummy. I also got the ricotta and honey which I can't often find on menus and it was so yum! I always think it's funny when our group orders drinks that amount to like half what the food costs lol we also got 3 pizzas - margherita, burrata and the diavola. Honestly, I wasn't wowed by any of them and actually could have done without any pizza (to be fair I didn't try the margherita bc it was on the other far side of the table). Others enjoyed the pizza and the burrata was a hit. For entrees, we got the short rib tagliatelle, cacio e pepe, linguini with white clams, oricchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe (my recommendation), parpadelle Bolognese, with fries and brussel sprouts with pancetta. Everyone seemed to really like their dishes and the cacio e pepe and short rib were a hit. I liked my oricchiette and it was as described - creamy flavorful and I don't normally enjoy pasta like that. I also enjoyed the brussel sprouts a lot. We got all sorts of drinks from the bar and we got some bottles of montepulciano which were really good. For dessert, we got some cappuccino, espresso, tiramisu, Nutella calzone and affogato. They did a nice little candle and birthday song and the desserts were refreshing! The affogato ice cream had this nice crunchy exterior as well and it tasted delicious with the espresso. I had a great time with my friends and Joseph was awesome all around! I'm glad we liked him so much because though we added extra gratuity for him, it is not noted anywhere (until you get the receipt AFTER you pay) that the tip percentage is based on the total check AFTER taxes so it can definitely add up. Like I said, Joseph was awesome so I'm glad (and hope) he got the extra, but it's something to keep in mind. 01/08/24: What an amazing neighborhood gem. Women/family owned.From entering one feels very welcomed. Low key, chic, elegant decor. Classy yet simple serving American Italian dishes, wood fire pizza and full bar. My drink of choice Illyia, spotted Prosecco as an ingredient it was a must have. As I cannot have grapefruit they substitute pineapple. Delicious and presentation was on point almost too pretty to drink. My dinner mates had the Boulevardier they enjoyed immensely. Bit strong for one, however the shot of orange juicier added throughout the consumption made it perfect. Dinner, we chose multiple items and consumed family style. All delicious and pleasant to the pallet, we all had favorites but nothing disappointed. Burrata Pizza made in the oven on premise was on the thin crust side, non greasy which I love. Pure deliciousness in each bite. My favorite was the Cacio e Pepe who knew cheese and black pepper on pasta would be yummy. We added grill shrimp which made it even better. Fritto misto hit with the entire table but as I can't really can't do fried foods I only sampled a bit. People the fried cauliflower, wasn't expecting to enjoy as I did. But then again what doesn't taste good fried. Grilled Octopus: of the best I've had. Only thing needed maybe some form of sauce. Paccheri seafood: so fresh, tomato sauce not overpowering, another savory dish. Salmon with salad. My least favorite. I felt needed a bit more seasoning , but also I think I'm just salmon out so these days salmon no longer does it for me. But definitely try because others enjoyed. Our server Paula simply amazing. Attentive, engaging, knowledgeable about menu and recommendations and all around pleasant. While waiting I had direct view of the bar and I must say bartender gave it her all when making drinks such concentration. Each time server passed our table with a drink you mainly heard oooh what's that that looks good..lol It's rare I give 5 stars as something always out of sync. Wanted to visit as I've previously only been for a drink. The brunch was really good. The service was on point without being intrusive. And hello affordable brunch drinks! Lively environment. We WILL be back.

Food was delicious! Service was amazing and the drinks were great! The ambiance of the restaurant is great as a whole. The vibes are good for dates or family. I would go back again when I'm in the area (and I am returning!)

My boyfriend and I had dinner here Saturday evening, and I would say that it was just OK. We were using a Pulsd voucher which had not expired. But when we spoke to the manager, she said they don't take it anymore, but luckily, when she saw that it had not expired she accepted it. We had two glasses of Prosecco, which were very good. My boyfriend had the sausage pizza, which is always good; I've had it several times. I had the.Calamarata seafood and I was disappointed. Very small portion and some of the clams and muscles were cold. Only two pieces of shrimp. I would not order this again. I suggest if you're going to this restaurant stick with the pizza. I also suggest that you go later in the evening. We had a 5 PM reservation and there were at least six young children in the restaurant. If you want a nice relaxing, romantic dinner go late in the evening.

I LOVE this spot. The food is incredible! I've tried the salmon, pizza, meatballs, & buffalo wings - everything is delicious. The service is always top notch and everyone is so kind and helpful. Walking in the ambiance is warm, cozy and welcoming. If you haven't been- definitely go check it out!

Pleased with the food--my pizza was tasty and a good amount for the money. The 15 year-old loved his steak, like, LOVED it, and my wife said her sesame tuna was "good." The issues: only one waitress on a crowded Thursday night and the place was VERY loud, especially with a bunch of screaming kids, which added to the din. Would I go back? Maybe, if conversation was not a priority.

Enjoyed a nice dinner after the gym here! Shared a pizza and the rigatoni pasta. The pizza was quite good with the right amount of spice and sweetness from the honey you can pour on top. The mocktails were ok heavily hibiscus flavor couldn't really taste the other essentials in the drink

Food was delicious I had the lobster dish; the service was great, waitress checked to see if we were good and needed anything often; ambiance is very romantic with candles at the tables and dim lighting.

Service was good. Ambiance was mid but that could just be because there were barely any people there. (Now I know why) Food- 1 star. Caesar salad- dressing was from a bottle with that preservative aftertaste you get from the bottled kind. Fish was well cooked but way too much thick sauce that overpowered it. Pizza was barely just ok. The pasta cacio pepe was disgusting but my kid ate it anyway because he was starving. It was basically spaghetti in soupy butter sauce. Where's the pepper? Brussel sprouts were gross! Definitely frozen supermarket sprouts. They were boiled and there was 0 green in them. We thought they were mushrooms at first glance! Never again!!!

We can here for drinks, Rebecca the bartender made us well balanced amazing drinks. The Cosmo was a perfect ballet slipper pink n manhattan was superb. The owner Gloria is fantastic. Next time I'll come back n try the food.

We had a reservation for 5 people and arrived at the restaurant about 45 minutes early. We were seated very close to the time we requested but at a table that was way too small for the five of us. A larger table was never offered to us. I ordered a burger and requested that it be cooked medium rare... pink inside. I told our server that if it was overcooked and NOT pink inside I would send it back. Unfortunately, the burger came out way overcooked... very very brown on the inside... not pink! So I sent it back. Our server then returned with a redone burger that was totally raw inside... it was inedible... Our server, Danni was very apologetic and terrific... It was not her fault. She said that she had shared my request to the cook that it be cooked to pink inside. There is no excuse for them to put us at a table that was way too small and no excuse for the kitchen not to cook the burger to the desired level. I might not return!

Black Oak is a perfect little haven to dip into for a nightcap and that's just what we did on a recent warm evening. It was a Tuesday night and the street was lined with bars and restaurants that had already closed at the disturbingly early hour of 10pm. I lament often on the lack of late night options these days, but it is what it is and Black Oak was thankfully still open... and not crowded. The four of us just wanted one drink and opted to sit at one of the high boys. The space is quite inviting, whether you're having a dinner at one of the tables or at the bar/lounge section. The bar offers a decent array of cocktails, beer and wines. While I can't comment on the food, I'd definitely come back to check out what types of vegan options they have going on as I love the ambiance (dark and elegant). My glass of Sangiovese was just right. And hello, they serve pizza until Midnight, so what's not to love?

3 stars for wonderful service and nice ambience. Ordered the funghi e búfalo pizza and short rib tagliatelle food came to our table lukewarm. Really unimpressed with the flavors and textures on the dishes. Likely won't return as I feel like I didn't get my value despite using Groupon.

A bit of an odd restaurant in that it's trying to be a jack of all trades. Can't tell what it's trying to be - a sports bar, cocktail bar, pub, pasta place, pizza joint, casual, or upscale? Seems like they're throwing everything against the wall and seeing what sticks...or maybe trying to do it all! What I can say is that the staff here are nice and welcoming. They have great screens behind the bar if you want to catch the latest games. The pasta I had (cacio e pepe), wasn't bad, but not a standout. Appetizers were good. I think pizzas are the way to go here - they have some pretty legit pizza ovens in the back. They have all your alcohol needs - from beer, wine, to cocktails. Curious to see how the restaurant will evolve over time. I will definitely be back to eat some pizza, and perhaps enjoy a game when I'm in the mood for a less raucous setting.

We decided to go here for our 6th Anniversary because our main place had closed sadly. The place was pretty cool and parking was easier than I anticipated. The service was good, food was ok and the portions were a little light for the price. They did have the Gavi wine I like. Some good, some average.

We were wandering back from an event to the LIRR station and had to pick a restaurant on 5th Avenue. The main problem is that there are too many good choices but we settled on this one. The menu looked imaginative, and the waitress chatted with us as we were checking it out at the door. Inside, there seemede like a good vibe, and we made our way to a quiet corner. I chose a back rib dish in a red sauce and Donna got an avocado salad. When the food came, the rib dish looked small in its bowl, but that was an optical illusion. The portions were perfect. Donna said that the salad was the best that she had ever tasted, and that is high praise indeed. It was an excellent hour for two people with sore feet, and they definitely made a pair of friends that day.

Finallyyyyyy DELICIOUS gluten-free food options in the neighborhood! I have been excited to try this place since I watched it go up over the past couple months. I was hoping they put the same amount of effort into their food as they did their outdoor dining area. They literally built an indoor quality space with beautiful wood details. I finally had the chance this evening and was not disappointed! The plum spritzer was perfectly refreshing on a 90-degree day - a take on an Aperol Spritz with plum liqueur and prosecco. I will likely try to recreate this at home! And pasta - oh how I've missed you. I can buy gluten-free pasta at home, but I cannot create the seafood pomodoro like they did. The fresh grated parmesan perfectly melted in my deep bowl of delicious pasta, melding with the sauce and enhancing the flavors. The shape of the bowl actually kept the food very warm too, which was nice. I am thrilled to have a great gluten-free pasta option in the neighborhood and I can't wait to try the pizza next!

Met up with friends here for a mid-week happy hour. It was pretty empty so we had our pick of tables, chose to sit outside. Lots of tables! Server was friendly, didn't rush us. Highlight was the Diavola pizza, nice thin crust and lots of flavor. My aperol spritz was good, and the non-alcoholic Negroni was tasty too. All agreed the Brussels sprouts needed to be crispier, and the sangria was a bit too syrupy / thick. Could have used a splash of bubbles (seltzer, sparkling wine....). The happy hour is a bit confusing because the menu in the window, the chalkboard sign and the menu brought to us all said slightly different things. But it goes until 7 or 8 pm, and is $6 draft beers and a special price on the cocktail of the day. For us that was a $9 aperol spritz or $7 sangria.

Steak and eggs for brunch was delicious. Definitely worth a visit if you are visiting Park Slope.

Perfect ambiance, excellent food and service. I went last night for the first time for a birthday celebration. Beautiful jazz music playing in the background--low enough to enjoy table conversion. I had the short rib, tagliatelle and my friends had lobster. We had an amazing mozzarella starter (I don't remember the name of it but it was so delicious!) The pasta was so good that I don't think I can ever have box pasta again. Our waiter was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable and not the least bit overbearing. As soon as we popped our hand up, he was at our table in a flash. Small homey vibe.

Comfortable room and good pasta. The cocktails were disappointing. We enjoyed the pasta dishes - the sauces were rich and flavorful. The staff is helpful.

Found a pretty good deal on pulsd and we stopped by to watch the mlb playoffs. Started off with a delicious cocktail while the +1 got a red wine. Pizza 100% delicious - the blend of truffle and oyster mushrooms layered with proscuitto was a fantastic combination. The seafood pasta was disappointing as the mussel didn't taste fresh and the pasta flavor was very fishy. I would definitely come back for the pizza tho! Very nice decor and comfortable seating, perfect for a date night.

We came here for brunch on a Saturday and it wasn't too busy. The brunch pizza was good although the egg whites were a little under. The eggs in purgatory were perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious. The cacio e pepe was sooo good! The food came out quickly but overall the service could be a bit more attentive. The ambiance is nice, it has a feel of a modern upscale bar with a dining area.

The number of times I sat at this location and drank beers at 200 Fifth. Long gone a neighborhood staple and in comes a lovely new neighborhood restaurant. Woman-owned (I believe) and has great drinks and a menu. We got two pizzas between the three of us and it was perfect (margarita and sausage). This crust is thin and delicious (holds that crunch well). The bartender was super friendly. Great place to just watch a game and chill or have a large get-together. Excellent addition to the hood.

Unplanned date night turned excellent!!! The initial restaurant we planned to go to wasn't what we expected once seated so we gracefully left. Decided to stroll down 5th and we bumped into black oak, the cocktails were great and so was our pasta, no need to add salt (like most Italian places I've experienced) I had the seafood linguine and he had the short rib pasta, both delicious. Friendly staff, and fast service. We also had the baby back ribs with fries, which was too salty for him, but tasted fine to me, the fries were hot and fresh. Glad I bumped into this hidden gem

This is my favorite restaurant in Park Slope! The food is amazing and the vibes are immaculate. If you're lucky enough to meet the owner Gloria your world will never be the same. 10/10 recommend this spot for any event or date night.

Went at 3:30 on a Friday and was one of about 6 tables. They had a pretty extensive happy hour drink menu that included beers, rose, white wine and well drinks all ranging from $6-9. My waiter and the bartender were both really nice and attentive. I ordered the paccheri seafood and could not recommend it enough. The seafood was tender and flavorful and the noodles were cooked to perfection. Will definitely be going back for happy hour and try out some of their Tuesday half of past deals.

Great service. Pasta Tuesday was somewhat disappointing because the dish was so oversized for the food portion that it was noticeable off-setting. Definitely order the Espresso Martini, it's very well made!

There's many restaurants I would say was good but wouldn't go back again. This isn't one of them. The food and service were excellent. We had the frito miso and octopus for appetizer. Octopus was tender and the fried seafood wasn't greasy. We had the lamb chops and Brussels sprouts for the entree. The sauce was so tasty. Wish we had more than 4 chops. I would like to come back and try their pizzas and other entrees. Also, we had a dessert with a side of vanilla ice cream. The place is not huge but had a cool vibe.

The pizza is fantastic. We have had several and this is in our top 5. I recommend that you try at least two kinds. They will split a pizza for you. This place should be on the pizza tour. Btw, the outdoor space is clean and Daria was fantastic.

This is a great spot! I've been twice and really liked it both times. Unfortunately my review is a little delayed so I don't remember exactly what I got the first time, but I enjoyed the cocktails, and I know we split a pizza and pasta and both were fabulous - you definitely can't go wrong. The second time I got drinks and burrata - the burrata was excellent and just overall I really like the ambiance here! It's great for a date.

Came here for lunch with my dad on a Pulsd' deal a couple weeks ago, had great service & got our entrees & drinks with no problem! I decided to bring my dad & uncle for his birthday & tried ordering our entrees but then was told about extra add on's that would cost more????? All of a sudden, prosciutto is "more expensive" and isn't included in the 2 entrees. The deal only states an up charge for 2 entrees, so this was a shock. Don't sell Pulsd deals if it's going to be a different story when you get to the restaurant. It makes the whole party look stupid & had ruined the dinner entirely for me. It's the principle. Not only is it his birthday, but going back and forth was anxiety provoking and it was not how the night should have began. When the staff saw how anxious I got, they tried making up for it but after a glass is broken, you can't try to pick up the pieces & expect everything to be okay. Will not be back here again, nor will recommend it. This was a huge disappointment.

I've had Black Oak pizza 5 times since they opened. Twice at outdoor seating and 3 takeout. They are really good pies and come in the classic red / white / specialty varieties. Paired with best foot forward service it's definitely worth a shot. P.s. brunch reviews aren't worth the read . , they focus on maybe 4-6 hours of offerings in a 40+ hour week.

Went with my chef boyfriend for a lunch on the way back from the farmer's market. We shared the speck, mushroom, and truffle oil pizza, which was shockingly bland. A smattering of fresh herbs, some salt and some pepper would have helped. The speck also needed to cook longer. I got a hibiscus iced tea which was fine. He got an ice coffee which was watery and bitter. The service was a little slow and a table that came after us received their check first. It seemed as if they were having "just opened" issues, but they have been open for at least a month.

Had a lovely salad and 3 great pasta dishes here and a tasty cocktail. The servers were very sweet and also met the owner who is lovely. I really appreciated that the outdoor area was breezy and actually outdoors. Would definitely eat here again.

We had passed by a number of times and finally went in this past Tuesday. All the outside seats were filled so we sat inside. There seemed to be one server, but she was great, fast and attentive. I was with my wife and son. I had the burger and grilled peach salad special, my son had a sausage pizza and my wife had the special salad and "shared" with us. Everything was really good and the food came out fast and the pizza was hot and fresh right out of the oven in the back.

Friendly service indoors and outdoors. Delicious pizza, cold refreshing beers. Great experience. I look forward to returning.
