Whiskey flights were for entry level group, amazing selection and seriously cool atmosphere. Guys working there were plenty friendly and knowledgeable.

Can’t I give this 7 stars? This was an amazing fantastic wonderful, use all the positive adjectives you can. The idea in and of itself is incredible. They offer a huge selection of whiskey/whisky to taste. Some are everyday and some are extra special. The service I received was top notch. They walked me thru selecting based on my price level (I went with the expensive option) the offered up 8-9 different options for me to select three to taste based on smell and a detailed description. These people know what they’re talking about!!!!! It’s a proper spot. Don’t be fooled by the low key entrance. On Tuesdays they have a tasting focus. You’ll see the focal point in my pictures. Love the idea and wish I had known. DO NOT PASS THIS UP IF YOU LIKE WHISKEY!!!

Great bar. Huge selection of whiskies and very intimate atmosphere. Music is great. Whiskies are clearly marked on prices and various flavourings. Cool place to visit

We all had a flight of three Whisky's to enjoy. The server made some great picks based on our collective guidance on what flavours we were looking for. They have some rare drams here. The people were all great and the setting is dimly lit, and just the right side of moody. The whisky in the tables has to be seen!

This Whiskey 🥃 bar is very dear to my heart. It is small and intimidate and non-threatening to individuals new to the whiskey experience. I've been on a regular day. This visit, there was an event where lovely lovely food was served by another business. It was great alcohol and great food! An overall great night and experience for me.

Great whisky bar. What an I credible selection. Over 400 whisky’s and the staff was so knowledgeable about the flavors. The table was also incredible they were aging whisky under the glass. I had a great time with the flights and will definitely visit again to try the cocktails.

10/10 for the Glen Moray tasting, friendly and knowledgeable staff, great selection of whisky.

I brought a few friends who are not into whiskey at all, and even they had a great time talking with the employees, trying some unique whiskeys, and sampling some of their cocktails. I tried both the Scotch and American old fashioneds that they age within the giant Oak Table that runs through the middle of the bar, which is super awesome! They have a glass channel on top so you can look into it and see the cocktails resting in the Oak, super unique. The cocktails were excellent, and the way they had organized the whiskeys in the cases based on flavor profile and intensity was amazing! I got a chance to try out some unique whiskeys that I've never tried before, and the staff was more than kind to pick some out for me based on what I liked and don't like! It's so much fun to see how passionate everyone we spoke to here is about whiskey! You could take someone who hates whiskey, bring them here, and I guarantee that they'll leave with a different impression on it! Huge thanks to everyone here and especially Alex for making our visit something special!

Service was great. The young lady assisted us to understand their flights. Amazing selection of whiskey/Whisky to try. The ambiance is pretty chill. It's a good place to have a drink and chat.

Black Rock was one of the most unique whiskey tasting experiences of my life. It's in the basement so it's easy to miss (unless you catch the whiskey vending machine they have). Walk in, and the first thing you'll see is a giant table made from an 185 year old tree, in which they've hollowed out two channels for aging whiskies/cocktails! Definitely unique. Each table and place setting also as a water tap, so you can stay hydrated and drink longer. They don't arrange bottles by region, but instead by taste profile (Smoke, Fruit, Balance, Fragrance, Spice, Sweet). Never been to a place bold enough to attempt that, but it works because they have the talent to pull it off. Speaking of, Liam was a wonderful guide, providing great recommendations and lots of whiskey banter. I ended up with four pours: -Craigellachie 13 -Sonoma Distilling Co Cherrywood Smoked Bourbon -Their whiskey aged in American Wood -Kavalan Single Malt (from Taiwan) The Craigellachie was my favorite of the lot, but I wish I could've stayed and tried more. Everything is labelled with little stickers to denote price, so you don't really need to worry about overspending if you're on a budget. But sometimes, you also have to indulge yourself (especially with a selection like this!). The place wasn't too busy on a weeknight, but I've heard that for events and on the weekends, you need a reservation. They also serve food (a bit on the pricier side), but I didn't have anything. They were also playing great American hip hop while I was there, so it felt just like home!

This is a tiny bar specializing in whisky, with selections from America and Scotland. Walk down stairs to find a hidden bar that has shared and table seating. You may need a booking on the weekend. With a dark atmosphere, you will find tap water to pour at each table and the menu organised by flavour. Suggestions such as, balance, fruit, spice and fragrance, will guide your selection. Drinks are strong but spot on. The food menu is small so think nibbles and go elsewhere for a meal. Scotch egg was prepared fresh thus taking a long time to arrive. It was one of the best I have ever eaten. However the raw oysters were milky and I questioned the freshness. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about whiskey and will gladly share pours and provide suggestions. This is a great spot to have a conversation just keep it to 2-3 people for a comfortable size.

Came here for the novelty and to sample some unique whisky. SO glad we did. We waited in the sherry bar upstairs for space to open up. Descended into what felt like a dark hole - the place is tiny and painted black from floor to ceiling- but once your eyes adjust and you settle in, its a cozy space to have a drink. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. We sampled several whiskies based on our server's recommendations (including what's in the table) and enjoyed each one. We also tried their Scotch eggs - well worth the wait! The rest of the food was unremarkable - definitely don't come here hungry. Black Rock will be our first bar stop next time we're in London! Definitely worth checking out if you're a whisky lover.

I was excited to hear about this new whisky spot from the brains behind the Worship St Whistling Shop around the corner. I still don't really get the name... but there's a lot of black paint, and it rocked! It's hidden in a Shoreditch basement down a non-descript flight of steps (like so many things these days!) so you have to know it's there. The centrepiece is a slightly bonkers 18ft tree trunk being used as a table (yes really) that's used to age two different whiskies on a rotating basis. I think of the difficulty I had getting a wardrobe upstairs in my flat and my mind boggles at how they got it down here! I started with a dram of the 'table whisky' which this Friday eve involved a Macallan Gold, Talisker 10yo and something else I can't remember. Served neat and delicious. My date tried the other 'cherry whisky' served over ice to cut through its greater cask sweetness. Beyond that there's a compact cocktail list - from which the 'Campfire' was to die to for - bulleit, Lagavulin and a marshmallow on top (yes, my guy claimed it was ruining Lagavulin but the less purist among you will love it!). For the purists though, their off-menu whisky library is excellent and displayed in cupboards around the room. You're encouraged to go rummaging and I loved that they're arranged by taste category (hello smoky cupboard) rather than name or region. There's also a few beers if you've stumbled in accidentally (or been dragged along) and don't like whisky. The servers took excellent care of us, answering my myriad questions and explaining the menu and three-tier pricing system well. I loved the little touches like water taps on each table; I'd have found a bag hook under the high tables very useful too. It's not a big place but there's no reservations so come early and you'll probably be able to pull up chairs around the tree trunk - otherwise it's a great spot for whisky-themed date night :)

We went to Black Rock on a Thursday evening at around 6.30pm. While it is a a smallish space, it still felt very empty with around 6 customers. Hence, there was a slight lack of atmosphere, however it was quite early. The cocktail list was interesting and leaned towards cocktails made with the cheaper Bourbon and Rye whiskys I think. I tried one of the cocktails that was aged in the large oak bench and was not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and efficient and I saw them helping a couple choose a whiskey from the many bottles they have displayed in cabinets on one side of the room. If money was not an issue, this would be a great place for connoiseurs and beginners. Great concept and well executed, but only wished the whiskey cocktails lasted longer!

Excellent tentative staff, who all have a passion for what they are doing. Amazing ambience and decor. Great selection of whiskeys and most others types of spirits from around the world.

I love whisky but don't know much about it yet, so I was a little intimidated on my first visit to Black Rock that I was going to look like such an amateur! Fortunately the staff were very helpful, welcoming, and knowledgeable. I learned so much. They spent a lot of time recommending different whiskies based on what I liked, and were happy to let me browse for as long as I wanted - which was quite long, as the selection is extensive and so interesting. It is arranged by characteristics such as smoky and fruity. I went with a Minor Case Straight Rye and High West Campfire which I enjoyed at the long oak table. There were also small bites to eat which looked tasty but unfortunately I had to dash to meet a friend. I've earmarked bottles I am going to try next time. Also - I love the decor. It's classy and sleek and makes me feel like a high roller. Just a heads up, the phone signal there isn't great, so bear that in mind before you disappear into this secluded little haven.

Black Rock is a hidden gem. So many whiskey drinks and options make this a huge find. Top that with the house made whiskey which is aged inside the long oak table right there in the bar! These are actually so unique and tasty my wine drinking wife enjoyed a few of her own. Friendly beyond any other establishment and knowledgeable to the point that I learned so much I am overwhelmed. Go, taste, drink, enjoy!
