Black Seed Bagels

Enjoyed a delicious scallion cream cheese poppy seed bagel. The bagel tasted fresh with a soft inside and packed with a generous amount of cream cheese. There was a bit of a wait but nothing terrible. A good location to pick up and go.

I laughed when I opened up the bag and saw how sad my sandwich was. Why did I just wait almost 30 minutes for an $18 bagel with lox that had one piece of salmon on it? What’s the point of scheduling an order if you will still have to wait half an hour and be late to work? Thanks for the “$5 off your next visit” offer, but I won’t be back. And if you want a quality bagel with toppings worth the price, you won’t order from here, either.

Located conveniently near my office neighborhood, Black Seed Bagels is probably my only available place to chow on a freshly made breakfast bagel during the early bird hours (7AM)! The cashier is friendly, and the overall service and food are pretty good. I order the typical Ham, Egg & Cheese with a cinnamon raisin bagel, and it’s delicious. The egg is very well prepared with sunny side up, and the ham is tender. Overall, Black Seed Bagels is a great place to eat to start your day!

Amazing bagels! I had the Bec breakfast everything bagel and it was so good. Only downside is that it’s very cramped inside and you have to wait a bit for your takeaway order.

Waste of $20. Ordered the salmon bagel and all I could taste was salt. The actual salmon had no flavor to it. Just packed with what tasted like olives. If I could refund the food I would in a heartbeat. Staff was friendly. Did not taste well at all.

One of the top 3 bagel joints in williamburg. Grab a bagel and sit at Domino Park to enjoy it. Awesome

I usually come here to get a quick bite for breakfast if I’m in a rush for the morning since I work in the neighborhood and I gotta say that they never disappoint. My go-to is the BEC on an everything and they make it great every time. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a good bagel in Williamsburg.

Usually don’t leave reviews but this place is a mess during any normal hour in the morning. If it says 20 minutes you’ll easily wait an hour plus. Really no system, 100 delivery guys crowding the entire indoor space, and usually get order wrong. Unfortunate because I think the quality of food is up there. But a million bagel spots in the system that’ll give you instant service.

After passing by and seeing long lines in the morning, I decided to stop in when it was less busy. I got the pastrami egg and cheese and it was a scrumptious blend of melted cheese, egg, and well seasoned beef. It was heartier than bacon, which made it more satisfying. Paired with an everything bagel, the flavors were zinging left and right. The bagel itself was nice and toasted but soft to the bite. The space is somewhat small. Seats were along the wall, only meant for a quick grab and go. I'd come back again on a not so busy day.

Walked in for a quick brunch, decided on trying the black seed BLT and after, liked it so much bought 4 everything bagels to take home along with some cream cheese spread and lox and dill. The cashier was super helpful, and friendly! He made sure to double check my order and assisted me throughout. There is a small counter on the left side when you walk in with bar stools- def more of a place where you get your food and go but if you had some time to kill like me, I ate my blt, enjoyed the music, the coffee machine going off in the back and read a book. Staff seems to be super friendly and food was ready quickly. Would def come back for a bagel craving.

Came here around 7:30 am on a Wednesday so there was no line and the bagel came out super fresh! Didn't get it toasted since it was freshly made, it was nice and chewy, a little on the thinner side for nyc bagels but great flavor with the everything bagel really tasting the garlic!

Love Black Seed Bagel. We are often in the area during breakfast on Thursdays. The bagels are always fresh and their lox dill cream cheese is my absolute favorite. Service is always fast. Very cute ambiance but not much seating inside - a few tables out front. Coffee is decent. 5 stars for consistency.

Delicious bagels and coffee and friendly service. There are a couple chairs for seating inside and 4 tables and chairs covered by umbrellas for outdoor dog-friendly seating.

Ehhh pretty disappointing. Was hoping to cure my hangover with a nice big bagel but I think it just made it worse. The bagel itself tastes store bought and a little on the stale side. Not great to bite into. The cream cheese was a weird texture, and there wasn't much salmon in my lox bagel. Ratios were pretty poor. Service was pretty good, cashier was kind and the food came out quickly despite being a busy Sunday at noon. That being said, I would've waited a lot longer if my bagel could've been any better. Got a BEC for my friend, who also will not be writing home about it. Mediocre at best. Still hung :/

Stopped by here for a quick breakfast on the way to a friends place after being on the train all morning. Cute little spot for a quick bite and coffee. The staff greeted us on the way in and service was quick and friendly. The prices is where I dinged some points. I know New York and especially a cafe can be pricey but it would be nice if the price matched the portion sizes. We got a lox bagel on pumpernickle and I felt like the smoked salmon was so thin and only 2 slices with majority of the sandwich being onions and cream cheese. I don't know if I would stop by here again having left not feeling satisfied.

Used to love the location in Nolita. Have tried the berry st one 3x now and disappointed each time with food quality. Ordered a toasted bagel with cream cheese. It tastes like someone poured a pound of salt on it and hates me. Inedible and unacceptable. Do better.

TLDR: Decent fire roasted bagels. Skimpy on the toppings for a $15+ bagel sandwich. Vibe: 3/5. We decided to pop by their Williamsburg location in the early morning on the 4th of July for a quick breakfast. They had just opened, so no one was there but the staff. Inside is your typical fast casual ordering layout. A main counter, open air kitchen and prep area and several standup counters where you can stand and eat. Unfortunately, there is no public restroom (even for paying customers). Service: 3/5. As mentioned above, no one except the staff was present at Black Seed during our visit, so it was to be expected that service would be quick and efficient. When ordering, the staff member that was manning the register had the quietest voice known to man. We had to ask on several occasions for him to repeat himself, with each time not being any louder then the previous. A bit frustrating to say the least. Fortunately, our order came out relatively quickly and correct. Food: 3/5. Tasty bagel, just wish it had more sustenance for the price paid. We went with the Classic 2.0, which contains pastrami spiced salmon lox, scallion cream cheese, pickled green tomato and red onion. The flavor combo of the lox and pickled tomato works nicely, especially with our choice of a pumpernickel everything bagel. The lox was delicious, however the extremely skimpy potion of 1 piece was a bit of a letdown. For the price of $15, I was hoping for a bit more.

I love pastrami and I love pickles, so to have a bagel sammy that has BOTH is rare in my area back home. I'm glad I got to try this on my last day of my visit. Plus, that pumpernickel everything bagel is also rare in my area so it was a treat to try! The aesthetic is totally my vibe btw. Quick service. And great, unique options. I'd come back!

EVERY time I go they forget to toast my bagel. No one wants a cold bagel. Not worth the price

Delivered fast and fresh to our hotel. The Classic Salmon was delicious. I chose to not have it toasted and the bagel was perfect. My daughter had the Bacon, Egg, & Cheese, her first ever NY bagel, and instantly fell in love and said they're much better than anything we have back home.

Ok, I have written reviews before for this location and the last one acknowledged improvements. However, they have to stay consistent. Last review, I commented on the bagel's toast texture. It was honestly toasted just right, not just warmed up. My most recent orders went back to "warmed up" and I requested toasted. Going forward, please toast my bagel. Warming the bagel is not enough. Thank you.

I've ordered Black Seed a couple of times and it's been fine enough if not amazing. I normally order from my neighborhood shop but was in the mood for a pizza bagel today which they don't have so got Black Seed. Guys, you're charging $10 for a pizza bagel. It shouldn't look like elementary school cafeteria pizza. How can I not be disappointed when looking at what I had delivered vs. the photo on your website? Come on, man.

I've heard many rave reviews about black seed bagels so I thought I'd give it a try since I was in the area. I came to pick up a bagel on a Sunday morning and I'm glad I ordered ahead online - there was a huge line. The bagels here were disappointing if you want a NY bagel. I ordered a pumpernickel everything with lox dill cream cheese and the bagel was small and dense, not fluffy at all. The cream cheese was honestly even more disappointing - super runny and not creamy at all. By the time I finished my bagel there was more cream cheese on the wax paper than there was left in my bagel. Online ordering was definitely the way to go, super easy pickup and quick service.

On the fence between 3 and 4 stars! Overall, a fine bagel spot that seems to be a bit trendy and less of a classic NY bagel spot feel. Reasons for 3 stars: - ordered whole grain, but I'd be surprised if that wasn't just a normal everything bagel - this was cut "in half" very sloppily - fine bagel, nothing special! Reasons for 4 stars: - while the bagel itself was decent, I actually really liked the cream cheese and toppings - online ordering was easy and even gave a first time customer discount - efficient order/pickup/line process

Black Seed can be hit or miss for me, but I think 3.5/5 is a fair rating. Today I ordered the BOCA (which comes with fried eggs, cheddar, avocado and tomato) on a toasted sesame bagel. It was fine, although nothing extraordinary. It didn't seem like my bagel had been toasted at all though, which was a little disappointing. The shop itself is pretty cute and the ordering/pick-up process was efficient. The staff are always friendly. Overall, the bagels aren't bad, they're just nothing special. I've had better in Williamsburg.

Always happy with my orders from Black Seed. It can get busy on the weekends but they still give quick service.

This is NYC. 2 star for a bagel is pretty baddie. The haterade flows strong this morning. These bagels just don't hit. Go to BAGELSMITH They look pretty but it's just bread shaped like a bagel. I got the bacon egg and cheese I assumed the cheese and bacon would compensate somehow even those ingredients didn't hit. Service is great. Ambiance is like a Coffeebean.

Perhaps my experience was a fluke, but I didn't have to wait anymore than five minutes for my order (I timed it, hah!) Came on a Saturday late morning and saw a line of people waiting around for their orders, so I anticipated a long wait, but it was super fast. I got the Black Seed BLT on an everything bagel and the Classic 2.0 on an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. I wish they had put more cream cheese on, but besides that I enjoyed both. They aren't the best bagels in NYC I've had, but I enjoyed them. I live around the neighborhood and I'll definitely be back.

I ordered a cinnamon bagel with tofu cream cheese and was given a toasted bagel with no cream cheese

On our third day in New York we stopped off at Black Seed Bagels for breakfast. The previous morning we had gotten bagels from Bagelsmith which were very tasty and filling, thick with cream cheese. But the bagels from Black Seed Bagels were terrible -- the bagels were barely toasted, and the cream cheese was thin and runny. Basically, it was two slices of dough with liquid cream cheese leaking everywhere. I had a few bites, licked up the runny cream cheese, and tossed the raw bread. I was unsatisfied and hungry, and at $21.54 for two bagels (including tax and tip), pretty annoyed. I will be sure to skip Black Seed Bagels next time I am in New York and go elsewhere. Maybe more of a 3.5 but I'm rounding up. I must have come on a good day given many previous comments. We came before close, they were out of most things but I got a veggie bagel on everything. My expectations were pretty low as I had black seed at a good hall once and it wasn't good, but this bagel was perfectly toasted, and the fillings worked well together. Would come back again.

Black Seed as a whole serves delicious food. However, my experience with my order today put me off of them indefinitely. I ordered a build your own bagel, adding smoked salmon, their special Ramp seasonal cream cheese, pumpernickel everything bagel toasted, and avocado/cucumbers/red onion/capers. I had never tried building my own bagel from BSB before and was excited for this order. When my order arrived, it was someone else's order. As I used Postmates, I was only given the option of a refund, but wondered if perhaps my order was never picked up and still at Black Seed. I called and they confirmed my order was in the store. I picked up my order and when I finally had my bagel, I was deeply disappointed at the final result of my bagel sandwich. The pumpernickel everything bagel was not toasted, missing the salmon and cream cheese, but had all the other toppings. Unfortunately, this was not the sandwich I was craving. As noted in my photo, the complete order did go through, so I am at a loss as to how the final product was missing those ingredients and the toasting. I am disappointed with this experience and will be taking my patronage elsewhere. I would suggest to others to not order delivery and closely review your sandwich. I also hope the woman who's order I received got her order eventually.

I go to this place almost every morning. I'm literally obsessed with the everything bagel and plain cream cheese. It is SOOO good. The workers are also so sweet and seem really happy. The place is tiny but there are seats outside. They also offer free cold water which is super nice and refreshing. The bagels also are very reasonably priced - with tip I pay like $6. For NY, that's nothing!!

Good BEC with avocado on a salt bagel. I'm not a bagel connoisseur, but the breakfast sandwich had a good filling:bread ratio. Very fast service when I ordered and picked up in person -- my food and coffee was as ready within 5 mins. Nice outdoor seating area with a trendy vibe. I also got drip coffee, which tastes fine and satisfying.

I tried so many times with this place. When they get it right it's amazing when they get it wrong omg. If you ask for light spread they put a tub of butter and jam on your bagel.

I have a thing for bagels, and New York's bagels are truly next level. I've heard that Black Seed delivers, and boy did it. My friend and I ordered it for brunch, and it really did hit the spot. I had no idea that the water is what makes NY bagels hit different! Black Seeds has such an optimal balance of chew vs. toastiness. I got the BOCA with eggs, avocado and tomato. It really hit the spot. Though they bagels here are undoubtedly on the pricier side, you can almost taste the quality and freshness of the bagel. However, bagels are pretty normal sized, compared to other gigantic ones I've seen. Given this though, the ratio of bagel vs. sandwich additions was great and the other items did get to shine. Though I do have a long list of NYC bagels to try, this is a spot I feel like I'll want to visit again when I'm in town!

Great staff. Great bagels. I was always resistant to it cause it feels like a hipster / tech bro startup chain, but the rest of the bagels in Williamsburg/Greenpoint are trash so they've won me over.

Support your fav corner deli instead! This bagel was good, but not $15 good. I grew up in NYC and I've had way better bagels for less than $5. Pros: Easy ordering process, rewards option, plastic free packaging (paper). Cons: Overpriced, overhyped, bagel not toasted enough.

Cute little bagel spot that gets pretty packed. Their low overall rating of 3 stars threw me off but I'm glad I decided to try anyway. I ordered a toasted everything bagel with veggie cream cheese and added turkey to it (don't knock it unless you've tried it). They made it pretty quickly which is perfect for my stop before work. The bagel itself was so good, I appreciated how crispy yet soft it was. The cream cheese was creamy and delicious - didn't feel too heavy. My only complaint is that for $9, this was a small ass bagel. I normally can't finish one and I ask for scooped out but this time I didn't and I ate the whole thing in one sitting.

Still mediocre. Was never sure how this establishment developed enough of a reputation to have more than one location, but this one is for the tourists or those with no taste. Natives, keep it moving, this ain't for you. Staff are nice enough, though. There is no bite or chew to the crust, the crumb is not moist, just dry and crumbly like a grocery store roll. Have worked in the neighborhood for a while now and finally stopped by this place to grab some coffee and a bagel. The service is outstanding here! TJ, a fellow southerner, really knows what it means to exude hospitality. The space is minimalistic but still inviting. Can't wait to go back!

Went here on a whim last weekend and was totally expecting a crisp, fresh Montreal bagel sliding down from an oven ramp like when I last visited a few years ago...but this totally wasn't it. The bagel was good, and had that denser Montreal style feel, but it was more like an NYC style bagel. Service was friendly but the wait requires patience as there was a crowd and a line. I don't think I'd recommend this as a joint during peak hours, especially in covid times, and I'm not sure it's worth the price.

This location is very poorly managed - My boyfriend & I ordered and paid for two bagels a couple weeks ago around 20 min til closing. After waiting 20 min we went to check on our order and they said it was now after closing so they wouldn't make them. Even though we had already PAID. They said they couldn't give a refund and instead gave us $10 off coupons for the future. When we came back to use them today they said we can't use more than one coupon on one order and then didn't put the avocado on one bagel we paid extra for. So we still paid. I've never heard of a business letting people pay for food then refuse to make it and then DON'T offer a refund. Ridiculous

I went on a Monday morning to order two egg sandwiches- "The Boca". I asked for one of them to have egg whites since I don't eat yolks. They had no problem adding the egg whites. The sandwich tasted amazing. The line was not long. Overall it was a good sandwich somewhat pricey but will be returning because of the quality of the food and the good customer service.

I'm a regular patron of your Williamsburg store. YOU HAVE A GREAT PRODUCT, BUT YOUR QUALITY CONTROL IS TERRIBLE. I just bought a dozen bagels at 7:45 in the morning, 45 minutes after you opened. They were all stone cold, and all of the sesame bagels were underdone. When were they made, one wonders? Certainly not this morning. And it seems as if your bakers take your bagels out of the oven after a specified time whether they're browned or not. Which means that they're not paying attention. And that's because no one is making them pay attention. Get your act together. So based on my MORE recent experience, I'm reducing my rating to One Star. Here's why. I just walked into your shop at 1:30 to order a dozen bagels, only to be informed by the young woman working there that she "couldn't fill any bulk orders because those [she said pointing to a full bin of Everything bagels, the one's I wanted to buy] are all the bagels [she] had left for the day. So, if you buy Black Seed bagels at 7:30 in the morning they're stone cold [probably baked the night before] and underdone [someone wanted to go home], and if you want to buy Black Seed bagels in the afternoon, they can't sell them in "bulk," by which they mean a WHOLE dozen. I guess they want us to come back day after day and buy our bagels one at a time, so that we can appreciate the great service.

Pros: staff was very kind and the place itself is very cute and clean! Cons: I waited 25min for my bagel. I expected a wait but didn't expect to wait that long! I think this because it's a brand new spot to Williamsburg, so hopefully the wait time gets better over time! I ordered the tuna salad sandwich and was pretty disappointed in the amount of tuna on my sandwich. For a $10 bagel, I expected a bit more tuna
