Cisa will make you feel right at home. She knows the menu well and she makes excellent recommendations. Burgers are all we tried with fries and onion rings. They were great. The inferno sauce and green sauce are outstanding. Very nice selection of beers and seltzers. Locally owned. It's so important to support small businesses. You won't be disappointed.

Went for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! I was expecting a dark little dive bar, but it turned out to be so much more. The exposed brick gave it a great vibe, it was very clean, and the overall atmosphere was laid-back and welcoming. The bartender was incredibly friendly, and the crowd was just as inviting. They offer a great selection of beers, seltzers, and even non-alcoholic options on tap. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend checking it out!

Came here to kill sometime since we had an appointment near by. The place is very nice and the staff is very friendly. Would recommend this place and I will be back.

Pass by this place daily, finally decided to stop in. I had an amazing experience. Chef Sophia and bartender Nafesa were great. The wings were delicious and fresh. The crowd was welcoming. Pool table seemed to have some sharks, but fun nonetheless. I truly recommend if in the area it's worth the stop in!

Excellent food! Good beer selection. Very friendly service. The corned beef eggrolls and cheese curds were a must. We also had the caesar and buffalo wraps and a pizza. All very good. After dining, we enjoyed hanging out on the back patio!

I would have liked to say I enjoyed it but the bartender on Monday night seemed obviously stressed and rushed me to pay and order making comments that I could see were because she was “busy” I suppose? If you call 4 people at the bar that in an empty place on a Monday night at 9pm. It just wasn’t a great interaction and I likely won’t go back.

If you are a ranch OR honey mustard lover, I highly recommend!!!! Here from out of town and stopped in just to grab some chicken tenders and watch a basketball game. did not disappoint.

Black Sheep has become our go to with Chicago PEV. The owner is awesome, Amy the bartender is incredible, and the entire staff is super welcoming. Great food, great drinks, and the back patio is hands-down the best in the city.

A group of 20+ of us stopped in for drinks on a Saturday. The bartender was the best!! She was extremely friendly and attentive to all guests. I think this is a spot where you order your food/drinks at the bar and bring it to wherever you decide to sit. Since there were so many of us we decided to utilize the back room which also has a pool table. I didn't order any food but a few from our group did. They all raved about the burgers. I had a beer on draft, yuengling. It's been a hot minute since I've had it and this took me back to nostalgic days. It was cold and crisp - just how I like it.

Extremely friendly bartender instantly makes you feel comfortable. Comfy seats for a bar, love some back support when sitting on bar stools. Onion Rings: Comes out fast, tastes good especially the ranch which many places like to water down their ranch, not the case here. Sweet chili wings: Great flavor the sauce is good and crispy and juicy. Black Sheep Burger: The burger had good seasoning. It's annoying when burgers have great toppings/ingredients but then the burger itself is bland.

This place is GREAT! I can't count how many times I've driven by this place over the years. Always amused by the sign. We walk in. Heavy neighborhood vibe, looks to be full of regulars. This is fine! Up front is the kitchen, with one busy guy cooking. We ordered pizza, and it was GOOD - I don't mind admitting it was WAY more delicious than we expected it would be. Beverages. There is something for everyone. I'm lookin' at you, my beer snob bro, they have Dovetail! And other interesting looking cans. They have cans of Finnish Long Drink, which I've not seen in any other bar. An array of flavored seltzers, beers on tap, and everything spotless and neatly arranged in under back bar refrigerators. A quick glance is enough to pick a delicious and refreshing beverage. WOMAN OWNED, the bartenders are friendly, awesome and sassy - I get the feeling they do not suffer fools at this place, and that is just fine with me! Billiards: I'm not much of a pool player, but if you are, they have a regulation table here. Stop in for a couple!

I dig the vibe, and the bartender (who was apparently on her second night) was a pro!!! I will return to this place. Also, the prices were decent, which is hard to come by in this horrific city.

Great charred burgers .. friendly staff and customers too. Nice vibe .. will try other menu items too. Just can't get passed ordering that burger. They did forget my bacon on my burger but I was eating it on the rad so I give them a pass.

Very good food. The server Nafesa doesn't have a clue about customer service she is there like a simple cashier she doesn't care about the customer you have to go pick up your drink and check even when it's not even busy at the bar. It's ok

Yum. Good food, service, beer, ambiance and location. Easy parking on Peterson or a side street. Kitchen open late. Can't miss it because it's pretty much the first thing you see when you walk in. Not complaining. Speaking of food- I couldn't even finish my giant burger. Tots are always a nice option too.

I came here with about 7 people from a meetup group after we got done with the shooting range a few blocks down the street. This bar is basically a dive bar. The have a few good beers on tap and a few basic bottles. I saw that they had weekly specials up on the board, and a few other good cocktail selections. They have a full menu ranging from appetizers, pizzas, burgers, salads and even a few desserts. I'm not sure if there is a full kitchen out back, but there was one man preparing all the food inside of the bar (as in literally when you walk in, he's to your left preparing the food). I would've assumed that he'd be extra aware of his surrounding since people can clearly see how he's cooking, but he wasn't wearing any gloves. I ended up just ordering an Angry Orchard, but a few others ordered food along with their drinks. The bartender was very friendly, but she was basically running the whole place alone. She was taking drink and food orders, while also delivering food to the tables. They might have been understaffed that day, but it was still okay service. Everyone who ordered food said it was good. It's basically pub food, nothing out of the ordinary, just greasy goodness. I'll probably stop by if I am ever in the area again. It was such a chill bar compared to the ones in the city! ~Till next time!

Black Sheep is a great neighborhood spot on West Peterson-West Ridge/Arcadia Terrace neighborhoods. Daily drink and food specials, diverse, lively crowd, TV's, jukebox, pool table and Jeppson's Malort. Service is friendly and attentive, food menu has some standard offerings as well as inventive options. Food is great, I'd travel to eat there or carryout. Pretty impressive for not quite "old school" or "hipster" spot. Long bar with stools, some high top tables, along with booth seating in the adjoining room making this dependable place whatever you want it to be.

My son and I visited the Black Sheep and had the burgers there and they were amazing. The fries were crispy and seasoned perfectly. They have huge selection of beer and the staff was super friendly and attentive. Great neighborhood tavern.

I've gone to this bar off and on regularly over the years. Originally it was the place we would go every Wednesday after golfing at R.A. Black and they had a very good taco special. Now my wife and I go occasionally for the fish fry on Friday which is very good with generous portions. The service can be a bit slow, but hey what's the rush? Nice unpretentious neighborhood bar with a pool table and some outside seating.

Great bar and food! Meghan and Missy we're working and they were so professional! They had so much knowledge of the menu! We had the tacos and a margarita! Both delicious! Highly recommend!

Visit once in a blue moon. Hole in the water type place for longtime locals. Had the misfortune of visiting with a friend during a weekend and staffer at time was not interested in taking our order and was more interested in personal stuff. We may have been unlucky and got stuck with a fill-in but still doesn't excuse poor service. We felt unwelcome and walked out.

Kara is the bee's knees and the cats pajamas. Great attitude and demeanor and she grills an amazing burger (unfortunately/fortunately it's ginormous and I couldn't finish it). Not from the area but I am going to go out of my way to visit!

I've driven past this place a million times and always find their sign entertaining. I wasn't sure what to expect. It's clearly a place for neighborhood locals. It's a little divey. The service was good. The bartenders very friendly. Decent beer selection given it's basically a dive bar. Their food menu options were cheap. My friend had a burger. It looked pretty good. I'd eaten before we met and just went for the mac and cheese bites. The parking lot is a bonus. The reason for the low stars...smoking! We sat on the patio, which is apparently smokers' row. Everyone at every table except us was lighting up. I know we were outside but it was making me ill. I wish this place enforced no smoking on the patio like most others. This place would easily get more stars if it weren't for that. It was very off-putting.

Black sheep is an awesome neighborhood bar, with great prices, great food and awesome staff. I love coming here for pool league nights.

We love the Black Sheep! We went when we got our marriage license, our marriage certificate, and now we just plain go all the time. Their patio space is awesome on a seasonable time and their staff is awesome all around! The food is traditional and great. Stop by for your burger and beer ASAP in my opinion.

Very friendly pace with a great atmosphere. Daily drink and food specials that are a great deal. i come in for some pool, a bite and a quick pint. Probably some of the best bar food around. Highly recommended. Fish fry Friday is my absolute favorite.

Was visiting town and wanted to wet my whistle at a local bar and not a chain. Ended up eating there as I didn't want to leave and became quite hungry smelling and seeing all the food. Wasn't disappointed in the least. I had a beef sandwich (try to sample from everywhere I go in Chicago) and some wings. Both delicious!!! No complaints about the service at all. I never once had to wait for a beer. The bartender was friendly as could be and the locals were pleasant too. But who can't find something in common with a Chicagoan? All in all, a clean place with a good vibe. I'll definitely return the next time I'm in town. TSB

Very disappointed. The bar tender was very drunk and the man who makes and prepares the food was not using gloves which is very important in food the industry... after I asked the bartender to have him make it over!!! She walks up to the cook and tells him he didn't even understand her cause he spoke Spanish. Then she tells me your gonna be good he knows what he doing uh Noooo! That's disgusting.

Staff is nice. But not attentive. Never offered food, etc.. They seamed more involved about their personal lives than anything else.

So I drive by this place a lot since my niece works at the Target on Peterson, and I finally got to try it out last weekend. Great prices on drinks and food! I had the mac n cheese bites, they were so good! This place is a gem! I will definitely be coming back!

Great place, great ambiance, good food, great people all around, parking in back. Wish they had some community pool cues so I wouldn't have to lug one around when ever I wanted to come by and have a drink and play a game. But yeah other than that this place is pretty great.

I would give it 0 stars if allowed. Went in with my wife, mom, sister and aunt. Was verbally assaulted by a regular patron and told to STFU multiple times by him I front of the entire bar at 7:30pm... the bartender sided with him by excusing him as being a regular... told us to ignore the verbal assault and continue on as if nothing happened. Who the hell trained you? This is a click dive bar where regulars own the place. Bartender was an absolute joke who sided with the idiot regular. Complete joke and can't wait until your regulars drive you out of business with their cheap beers and lack of tips. Ownership is clueless to hire those bartenders. If you want to feel welcome at a new place, do not come here. Go next door to the liquor store and buy booze - at least you won't leave your full drink and leave in disgust. What an absolute joke and waste of money. Food sucked as well so don't waste your time.

I never really came here when it was Emerald's Isle but started coming here a few months ago on Friday's to decompress from my biochem class. It started with my friend and I coming then it became a group of us coming here every Friday. Why do we keep coming back? Alison, for one, is amazing! She really is so sweet and she is amazing at making the drinks we request! The drinks are super cheap here and they aren't stingy with the liquor either! I also want to say the food is pretty great! The group are huge chicken tender fanatics and I got the fish tacos. I would def say better than average bar food! Great service, cheap drinks, and delicious food! I love this neighborhood gem!

If I could give this bar 0 starts, I would. I came here to watch the Cubs World Series game 3 and could not have been more disappointed by the service and treatment at this establishment. I'm usually very understanding, having worked in the industry myself, so I understand it gets busy and the kitchen gets overwhelmed. What was upsetting is that our server never even had the decency to check on us after taking our order. I had to flag down a child, who I believe is the son(?) of the owner of the establishment, to even check on our orders. My brother and his friend also ordered two spirites at the same time I ordered my food. It never came. Our food came (over an hour later) before they ever got their spirites. My brother had to go to the bar to get his spirite. I will never return and will definitely not recommend this place to anyone. It's one thing if the place is busy and the servers are being attentive and accommodating, but it's another thing when they are purposefully not paying attention or even completing a simple task like getting two spirites. **Shortly after posting this review and closing out my check, I was approached by a manager(?) who had seen my post. She graciously apologized for the wait and explained they were understaffed. I appreciated the gesture and the extra effort she went through to apologize and explain the situation.

Wow. Just wow. Used to come here frequently till about 2 years ago when I moved out of the neighborhood. I always enjoyed their wings. I was at the NOrthwestern football game and decided to stop in for a bite. I had an order of wings and was incredibly disappointed. First it was 6 wings for 6 bucks. Ok, a buck a wing no problem but I ordered hot wings and they had little to no hot sauce on them. The size of a he order and the sauce was the reason this place was the destination for wings after softball games. They were terrible and on top of that the bartender forgot to place my order and finally after about 30 minutes she remembered and finally put it in. She was way more concerned with a group of 5 or 6 people at the end of the bar. I used to love this place but now I'll just cross it off the list of places I have to visit when I'm in the old neighborhood. So sad.

Just moved into the area and wanted to try this place out, mostly because of their outside seating. I don't have any complaints about the bartenders or the service we got from them---bartenders were both really nice. Ordered nachos, and some other things. The nachos were very sparsely topped with the toppings mentioned on the menu though. The fish tacos were really good. The downside to our whole experience was the two men who sat next to us. My friend and I sat outside and had to listen to these two middle-aged men (who, in hindsight, were probably just deeply closeted gay men) say really homophobic things for the entire hour we sat outside. Not really a nice environment, and I feel kinda bad giving such a bad review, because how can a pub control who comes to their bar, but alas... I will not be returning.

If I could give zero stars I would. This establishment tends to it's "regulars" only. Just moved to the area and we thought that would be a great bar within walking distance for those rough days at work to blow off steam. My fiancé and I walked over and immediately felt unwanted. The bartender that evening took 15min to take our drink orders bc he was too preoccupied with the "regulars" at the bar with sports talk. So, then took another 10 minutes for our beers. By that point we just wanted to drink down our beers and went to Popeyes for dinner very disappointed. Now I see Groupon for this place bc I think they're hurting for this reason.

Great Neighborhood Bar! Black Sheep is under new management, and I'm happy about it. I'm an avid pool player and the table here is a 9ft Diamond- IN GREAT CONDITION (which is hard to find). Drinks are cheap and well-poured, but it is a bar that charges dollars with some change (I hope the bartenders don't mind all the extra change). Overall, great music, good people, yummy food, and my favorite pool table!

Very friendly small bar. LOVE the burgers! Italian beef is okay. Place is divided into the main bar area with TVs and a separate quieter area with a pool table that's better for conversation.

I waited til I came here at least a couple of times before I'm stingy with my reviews....this place is great....homey, friendly, affordable with an amazing staff that has turned me into a regular very quickly....if you're going for the food, anything that comes of the grill has a nice char taste to it so it's hard to go wrong with the juicy ass Black Sheep burger being on top of my list!

cool little local hangout. we were hesitant to come here at first (a bunch of twenty something girls) but it was really relaxed and had good vibes. the bartender was super nice, watermelon beer on tap, and the food was good too! would definitely return for a low key evening.

Honestly not a terrible bar, but if you ask for anything other than a bottled beer you don't get what you asked. Waited for my food for over an hour, and it was just nachos....never got them. Plus they got my first draft beer wrong. I get places can be busy but it wasn't packed where it was out of control. Good steady business, but they dropped the ball. This is the second time I've been to The Black Sheep and been extremely disappointed, and it stinks because I live around the corner and would love to go in to a local place that I can enjoy during the summer, but I'm having my doubts that they will be able to make me want to go back in.

The Black Sheep is great! We stopped in and found a gem. The staff was friendly. The food was great,beers were cold and the people inside were super cool. Obviously a great neighborhood place but we felt right at home. Lots of genuinely neat little touches that make it unique and appealing. Thank you Black Sheep for giving us a a place to chill and have a good time. We will be back again!

Under new management. Yes, they've put a pool table in, which is awesome.. But be prepared not to play because you need your own stick. The drinks are poured great. One bartender that's been there since it was Emerald Isle is awesome. The new bartenders, not so much. The food could be better.. The new crowd that the new management has brought in is rude.

I have been to the Black Sheep on a few occasions and I don't live in the area and I am not a regular. I found the bartender to be very nice and attentive. I enjoyed my experience there and a couple times I had the pleasure of trying some awesome brisket!! I will definitely go back.
