The Best Burritos in Denver | Eater Denver

"Chef Hosea Rosenberg hails from New Mexico, so green chile runs through his veins — but that’s not all that makes the breakfast burritos at his Berkeley deli special: In addition to eggs, tater tots, and cheese, they’re also optionally stuffed with rotating cuts of meat, be it brisket or carnitas, courtesy of Michelin award–winning head butcher Kelly Kawachi and her team. (Of course, they’re also available at Blackbelly’s flagship restaurant and market in Boulder.)" - Lucy Beaugard

The Hottest Restaurants in Denver Right Now, Summer 2024

"The market and deli attached to celebrated Boulder restaurant Blackbelly now has a satellite in Berkeley, where chef Hosea Rosenberg, butcher Kelly Kawachi, and their team specialize in the charcuterie that graces not only sampler boards but all manner of sandwiches, from Cubanos to Reubens; salads, sides, and a tidy selection of beers and wines round out the lunch menu, available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday–Sunday, while Rosenberg’s famous breakfast burritos await when the doors open at 7 a.m." - Ruth Tobias, Eater Staff

Denver’s Top Sandwich Shops

"Il Porcellino is a Berkeley treasure, sourcing meat from heritage breeds locally and then curing it. The menu varies, and customers can either buy cuts to take with them from the retail side or order prepared sandwiches to eat at the restaurant. The bison meatball features caramelized fennel and onion, San Marzano tomato sauce, and provolone on a hoagie roll." - Rebecca Treon

Small shop selling provisions and great burritos! Got the Butcher Burrito, daily meat was smoked pork when I was there. Great flavor, tots gave a surprising crunch so they're fresh, and the hot sauce is just the right amount of heat to go with the whole thing. You wouldn't expect it, but the chocolate chips came highly recommended: crispy outside, soft and gooey inside, not too sweet and balanced with flakes of salt. Perfect if you need something after the hot sauce.

The food there is amazing, they have a ton of seasonal options and specials. The homemade Arnold Palmer was so good. The service was great, all of the crew were amazing. The food was out hot and prompt. Luke, the gm, was considerate of my father with mobility problems. He even offered to exchange my Arnold Palmer for another free of charge if I didn’t like it.

Google
Absolutely tremendous place with far and away the best house cured meats in all of Denver. As someone that eats a lot of sandwiches, I can promise you that this place does some of the best I've ever had. Excellent service, knowledgeable and helpful staff (thanks, Luke!), they offer cooking classes with the Michelin chef, and do catering as well. Stop in for a sandwich, impress a date, grab some house cured meats, but whatever you do GO BE OVER HERE.

I got the Bulgogi Wagyu Beef and i swear it was one of the BEST sandwiches Ive ever had. I met the GM and he was super nice and welcoming. I will be coming here MANY times. Truly 10/10 experience.

When they first opened they kept "the bacon" sandwich on the menu from the previous restaurant. The absolute best sandwich in Denver. Just visited last week and had the absolute worst BLT of my life. Burnt bacon, hard bread. I've heard great things about the rest of the menu, but it's hard to look past this failure on such a simple sandwich. For nearly $20. Also, the salami is very overpriced. Order any and all salami from Il Porcelino Salumi out of basalt. Do not waste your money on the shriveled meat stick offered here.

We popped in here for a quick lunch and let me tell you. These are some of the best sandwiches we have EVER had. The service was great and the food was phenomenal. We will absolutely be returning!

I love this spot. I crave the veggie bahn mi weekly, and rave to all about this place! Nice outdoor area to sit. Friendly staff and chill vibes. Love their cookies and drink selection too

Stopped in for a breakfast burrito. The meat of the day was chorizo, which blended into the burrito without overpowering the green chile, eggs, and hash. House hot sauce was an arbol base with a surprising amount of spiciness. It's worth getting a breakfast burrito if only as a vehicle for enjoying the hot sauce. Definitely the highlight of the meal. We were so impressed with breakfast, we almost stayed an extra 45 minutes to wait for the crossover to their lunch menu. Instead, I settled for grabbing a few pieces of their house jerky. Staff were quite friendly, offering insight to the food and joking with me. They seemed to be having a good time, always a good sign. I look forward to my next visit down Tennyson. This is a great addition to an already amazing couple of blocks.
