You can find the Clarksville location of Blackhorse Pub & Brewery at 132 Franklin St, Clarksville, TN 37040. It's across the street on the other side of the block from Strawberry Ally Ale Works, also a brew pub. Parking pretty much sucks through most of downtown Clarksville but you may get lucking and find something on the street. There's a parking garage but I'm across the way but I'm not sure if it's available to the public.
This is a pretty terrific building representing some fine turn-of-the-century architecture with wood finishes and a pressed tin ceiling. We ended up coming here for a bite to eat and so I could try out some beers - we got two different pizzas - I thought both good with a fairly crisp crust.
Of the beer, I had a flight that included:
* Blackhorse Blonde Ale 3.4/5 - Very neutral, buttery mild malty body, finishes clean with a touch of hops
* Barnstormer Red Ale 4/5 - German red ale, sweet malts with a hint of caramel, reddish hue, brighter than American reds, finishes with a touch of hops bitterness, fairly well balanced
* Blackhorse IPA 4/5 - Decent IPA more in the west coast style but with more citrus, full bodied with a good strong resinous finish.
* Coalminer's Stout 3/4 - Probably the most flavorless stout I've ever had. Watery with a hint of bitter coffee, nice lacing otherwise flat bodied.
Added a taster of:
* Coffee Milk Stout 4/5 - Competently done milk stout with creamy body and strong coffee notes, low bitterness for this style and great lacing.
Then had a separate pint of their
* Belgian Blackhorse Quad 4.4/5 - I'm glad I tried this as it was the best beer I had there that day. Pretty tasty, typical Belgian banana nose in a dense dark bodied quad, fantastic lacing nd a lingering finish with notes of fig and cherry.
Service was pretty lackluster - the server wasn't sure what was on tap which always turns me off - then when she came back she didn't mention the Belgian Quad - I found that out stopping at the bar on the way to the bathroom. It also took quite a long time to get our food (no wait, it was between lunch and dinner on a Sunday).
