The Best Breweries and Taprooms in Nashville | Eater Nashville

"Blackstone Brewing launched in 1994, making it one of Nashville’s first and oldest craft breweries. The West End taproom sits within the Blackstone Brewing production facility, which is the same facility that also brews for Nashville Brewing Company. This state-of-the-art brewery offers tours and has a converted bus that serves as a permanent food truck. The B Stone bus has a solid brewery bites menu that includes a selection of burgers, artichoke dip, and fish and chips." - Kellie Walton

7 Best Nashville Breweries to Visit for Craft Beer in 2021 - AFAR

"Founded in 1994, this long-running, highly awarded craft brewery operates a fully automated 30-barrel brewhouse and automated bottling line and has won medals at the Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup. In addition to a wide range of ales, the brewpub serves burgers, pizzas, and Southern classics like shrimp and grits, and offers three types of tours—a guided brewing and bottling tour, a historical tour covering Nashville beer history from the early 1800s through the 1950s, and a private, in-depth session with a co-founder—though availability is limited and advance booking is recommended during the pandemic." - Mae Hamilton

Where to Celebrate Oktoberfest in Nashville - Eater Nashville

"Over in Midtown, Blackstone Brewing is teaming up with Nashville Brewing Co. on October 6 for an Oktoberfest Celebration in their taphouse. Nashville Brewing’s Festbier and Helles Lager will be making an appearance alongside Blackstone’s award-winning brews. Soaking up all that hoppy goodness: an array of traditional German dishes. The brewery also promises live music, games and an appearance by their master brewer—who just might comp the crowd’s first round." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

Google
Blackstone definitely tops my list of favorite Nashville Breweries. The staff is awesome and the taproom is cozy. They have several excellent styles to choose from ranging from their GABF award winning light beer to the amazing Hopjack IPA to the robust Black Belle BA stout. They also are Currently boasting an oatmeal stout that was amazing. Also I saw a dog. Winning.

Google
Absolutely awesome beer breast brewery that I visited in Nashville ever!!! Service was fantastic. Selection was great and they even have a little piggy named Spumoni to keep me company!

Google
Great vibe, friendly staff, better tasting beer. Plus dogs are welcome so that's always 5 stars in my books

Google
This is an excellent brewery with friendly bartenders and regulars. The beers I tried were great. I had a flight of four including several imperial stouts. We managed to get an informative tour of the facility when we were there. Prices are reasonable. Check this place out!

Google
Great atmosphere with engaging, hilarious staff, who will occasionally make balloon animals for fun. The place has an industrial feel with an open view of the brewing area. Nice selection of regular and seasonal brews on tap as well as a fridge of bottles beers available for purchase. Sometimes there is a food truck outside. The place is pupper friendly, some of them can probably be considered regulars. They even have jars of dog treats on the counter.

Google
The tour has been magnificent. They explained the whole process of beer creation step by step and in a fun and entertaining way. The beers were delicious and all the staff was very friendly and attentive. I recommend coming to visit them, a wonderful experience.

Karina Martinez

Google
Had a great time, nice cozy bar. Tyler was attentive, kind and explained the menu to us. She was helpful in making our selection. Beer and cider were cold. No complaints.

Google
This was stop 14 on the "Liver Function critical because BIL, Jen and I have drank nothing but booze for days" tour, and it was AMAZING!! Good beers on tap, a chihuahua that did tricks, a bulldog, or two, and Ashley behind the bar made for an amazing place. Had some delish beers, Ashley gave us some festbiers when Jimmy got salty, and the place was so great that we went back the next day. Here's the Breakdown: Good, cold beer +1 star; dog friendly +1 star; nice bar space +1 star; Food truck and beer garden +1 star; Ashley + 1,000,000 stars (google stops you at 5). Seriously - good beers with excellent service make a new favorite brew house. I will go back again and again.

Yelp
very good beer, great staff! A very good brewery and a god find! This is our first stop in Nashville after a nap, great start on our visit in Nashville

Yelp
This place was super fun. Their cranberry cider was yum, I've never had something like that before, and I'm glad we stopped in. We had time to kill in between excursions so this was where we went.

Afreil H.

Yelp
This is a small, cozy taproom. The beer is consistently some of the best brewed in Nashville (and elsewhere, for that matter). There is outdoor seating for nice weather and an onsite food truck (the Blackstone Bus) with a limited menu. The beer isn't crazy overpriced like many of the newer breweries and dogs are always welcome!

Yelp
This place is cool as hell! Off the beaten path for tourists, but if you're like me and live in Nashville this place is a must visit. Great beer and awesome, neighborhood bar style service. Anna was great. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Love this place, found it by accident, they have the best dark stout I ever have. It's a small glass - Black Belle, yet 13.1% alcohol. Love love love it. By the way, all beers are $3 on Sunday, taste even better
google avatar

Dave D.

Yelp
Love Love Love Blackstone. Great beers (Black Belle at 13.2% ABV is so good), great outside spot to drink and enjoy sun with your doggy, super friendly staff and $2.50 beers on Sunday. Why are you here???
google avatar

James D.

Yelp
Good prices. All beers except one were 6 bucks a pint. Free parking out front, outside seating available as well as probably 15 tables inside and a smallish bar. Beertender was super friendly and she will pour you a free sample or two if you ask. Beers run across all different styles with maybe 13 total taps (they had 4 IPA's the day we visited). No bourbon barrel agers that day but they did have a pumpkin beer my wife liked, plus a couple sours for those that like those. They have a food truck bus outside that serves food during certain hours, so I don't think they let you bring in your own food here. Free stickers if you ask the beertender for some and they have t-shirts, hats and a few examples of glassware to buy as well. Very, very limited of take away beers in the fridge, but I'm pretty sure they'll sell you any takeout beers you want and ask for, they just might be at room temp. The taproom is nice, super cool light fixtures (steampunk design) with large window looking into brewing arena. Wifi here is strong and free, just like 'merica, but some sort of horrible sulphur smell from the surrounding area ruined our attempt to sit outside. Be aware of this...not good.

Yelp
Blackstone brewing company is a beautiful brewing company in Nashville where are you if you want a nice quick place to sit down and have a quick beer and relax this is the place for you. The South is very kind and useful they have a great knowledge of all the beers they have on tap and every beer has a very unique and easy taste to it.

Yelp
My family and I stumbled in within the last 15 minutes of Blackstone closing and we were greeted with such warmth and enthusiasm by Ashley. Upon checking our IDs we were made to feel like we were family, and it is really such a small world, (I'll save everyone that long story), The beer selection was great and had just the perfect mix of varieties. I love fruit forward flavors so I was in heaven with their Strawberry brew, and it didn't disappoint! There has only been one other Strawberry Blonde by Belmont brewing that was so flavorful and I believe Blackstone had them beat. I wish that I could stay in Nashville just to make this my home brewery. Hopefully I can get in one more visit before having to fly out.

Yelp
The salted caramel hard cider was amazing. They didn't have it on draft but it was available in a can. Sooooo good!

David W.

Yelp
Took the tour of the brewery with the Kent. He was knowledgeable, friendly. Had a great time. He stated we would learn something...and I learned a ton of things....and the Blackstone Porter is amazing! Definitely worth the time.

Charlie S.

Yelp
The service complaint is real. "Order Here" sign but the area is packed with people and doesn't make much sense. The tender was friendly once we ordered but not attentive. What saves the place is the beer. If you like English Milds they have a very good one with "Nut Brown". I generally hate American Kolsch, but theirs is not bad - though color is way off. Had the least bitter 76 IBU beer I have ever had with the "Adam Bomb". Good beer, not a great tap room.

Yelp
I've enjoyed Blackstone's beers for a few years, particularly their chocolate stout and the Black Belle stout and my wife and I finally visited the brewery a month ago. It's a very relaxed environment and that's one of the things we look for in breweries. Their brews were pretty good and we got to try a variety of them from sours to ipas to the Black Belle (great on draught). The brewery is amazingly affordable too and their tasters were only $2 or $3 each, which is fantastic. It's a fun place and one we will visit again!
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot! Excellent chill vibe. Met a bumble date here and told the bar staff before he got there encase I needed an exit plan! The Coffee Stout was dreamy delicious! Games at the bar, tons of space. Food options and a great selection of beer! Go check it out!

David V.

Yelp
Ashley rocked taking care of our crew tonight during a birthday party. Can't thank her enough.

Yelp
Blackstone Brewing Company is in Midtown but hidden as it's not visible from any of the main streets although it is near Charlotte Ave. Their taproom is pretty small but it has a modern, industrial feel. There is a large bar area and a few tables and they have a glass wall where you can see the brewing process at work. I came here for the sole purpose of picking up some cases of their seasonal pumpkin ale. This is a really nice, slightly spicy beer that goes down smooth. We look forward to Fall to drink this beer! They have a refrigerated case where they sell their beer to-go so I selected what I wanted from there. They do sell their beer at Kroger but I didn't want to chance it so I went here right to the source. The bartender rang me up on her tablet and I was in and out in under 5 minutes. I would definitely come back and have a beer or two on tap. I thought that this seemed nice a nice brewery and I had a good experience with service.

Yelp
My personal favorite of all our Tennessee brewery stops. Blackstones beers range from mild to hoppy; satisfying any pallet in between! The range they have on beers is simply amazing. Usually a brewer is great at one kind, and is okay at other styles. ALL blackstones beers are great in my opinion. There is also one of the best food trucks I have ever ordered from located on sight!!!! The food coming out of that truck would topple some of the most high rated restaurants! Seriously I can't speak highly enough of this place; I think it's just called "B's" everything we had was the best thing I ever ate, and I'm not remotely lying!!!

Yelp
The old, West End Blackstone had my favorite all-time, go-to fish & chips. It was magical. It was the beer they used in the batter. Anyway, I haven't been since they moved, quite some time. I don't like going out into the rain to order the food from the truck, I really don't like stepping off that pad onto gravel in the dark, (dangerous.) But I did like the fish. Not anywhere near the OLD Blackstone recipe, but good. Can't comment on the chips, 'cause I got the sweet potato TOTS instead. Maybe the best part was the sweet girl cooking in the truck. She saw me at breakfast the next day and came over to say hi. I'm always astonished to meet genuinely nice people. (I'ma grumpy old man.)

Brody W.

Yelp
Unfortunately we did not have a good experience. The beer was good (I had the Nut Brown), but the bartender disappeared after our first round and did not reappear for quite a long time. One of our party who arrived after we did waited at the bar for ten minutes and never was waited on, and we saw another couple of people wait for a while and leave without being served.

Yelp
This place is AWESOME!! Definitely one of my favorite Nashville breweries (them and Southern Grist) They have a lot of beer options to choose from. They have some snack options, but you'll want to eat before you come as their focus is beer, not food. I am normally a big Pale Ale and IPA person... their IPA's are not bad at all, but not quite as hoppy as what I'm used to. They have an amazing black IPA that I was very impressed with. This actually is the first black IPA that I've tried that I really liked. Their nitro barrel aged imperial stout was surprisingly very very good. And the coffee stout was super rich and creamy. Sooo good! My absolute favorite was the watermelon ale (gose style). It was ridiculous. Perfect mix of sweet and tart. I have been so disappointed in the lack of creativity in Nashville when it comes to beer. I was hesitant to come over here as some other breweries I've been to were very average and not very good beer. I had read all the yelp reviews and nothing stood out to me. I almost didn't come as most other places I've visited were not worth the effort. I am sooo glad I did! This place made me happy and exactly what I was wanting. If you're into great craft beer, this place is for you! :) As you can see from my pictures the place is set up really nice with the soft lights and view of the brewery. It is a smaller area but feels big with the glass set up. I also noticed they had board games available to play. I really cannot think of anything to criticize or suggest. I was very impressed.

Yelp
Wow yum. This place is around the corner from my relatives house and we were pleasantly surprised. They used to be in another location but we stopped in (twice) one weekend. The taproom itself is pretty big. They have tall and short tables and a single tv. If you are trying to catch a game you probably want to go elsewhere but the atmosphere was roomy and the beer tasty! They had 10+ beers on tap so enough to please a party. Food truck bus outside offering dips and burgers. I thought it was reasonably priced and the beer I tried (Resilience IPA) was very good!
google avatar

Yelp
I found their beer in downtown Nashville while I was here on business and fell in love with it so my father and I made it a point to stop by there local brewery. I really enjoy the big brown ale and the bock! The gentlemen behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. If I ever make my way back to Nashville I will definitely be stopping back here to get some delicious beer.
google avatar

Joan E.

Yelp
My husband tried the hop jack, and he said "that beer was awesome!" Our only regret is that the new place offers 2 or 3 snacks - no main course menu.
google avatar

Ike G.

Yelp
Ashley was amazing! She made perfect recommendations and put up with my 2 lame compadres. Lager and Hopcheck IPA are highly recommend!
google avatar

Paul W.

Yelp
Beer was excellent. Service was some of the worst I've had. The bartender couldn't break herself away from her conversation with her friend to refill drinks or check us out and then acted put out that she had to work.
google avatar

Lucas L.

Yelp
Nashville is blessed with many fabulous original breweries and Blackstone is one of the top of the food chain. Bonus: they've set up shop in a community that has been thriving on certain entities doing their part to help elevate the profile of the area. Great spot to try all their phenomenal beers, of course - but also a wonderful place to host a group for a modest gathering. The management and staff are incredibly kind and helpful, without the pretense of some joints. Highly recommend it. If you think they're great in a bottle, get thee to their taps.
google avatar

Zachary B.

Yelp
Ashley is literally the BEST. Knows the beers, knows the styles, knows the craft. Incredibility keyed in to the socials, and top notch without a doubt.
google avatar

Gary H.

Yelp
This is my favorite little brewery. It's nice and close to my work and the staff is awesome. Ashley is the best bartender ever, she is very nice all the time. The brewers are all very cool people too. My coworkers all visit so frequently that they actually gave us a personal tour of the brewing facility once. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice little local brewery.
google avatar

Jayson Z.

Yelp
Good luck being served! Waited several minutes for the bar tender, who knew I was waiting, to chat with her friend. When she finished, she proceeded to leave the bar and clear glasses from a table.
google avatar

Mary V.

Yelp
I was visiting Nashville this weekend and decided to try out this local brewery and I'm so happy I did. Their award winning Porter and their Chocolate Milk Stout were delicious, and the bus/food truck that Nicole runs makes great bar snacks and some cheap meals too ($7 burger and fries??!). The best part of my experience was Ashley, the bartender, who went out of her way to make me feel welcome while I was sitting at the bar alone while waiting for friends. It seems like a great group manages and works in this brewery, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a mellow, exceptionally welcoming vibe along with some diverse, local beers.
google avatar

Geoff L.

Yelp
Deep for this place. I hesitate to reveal my affinity lest others crowd me out. But it is a definite jewel in Nashville's Craft Brau crown.

Caroline L.

Yelp
options to sit outside are huge for covid times. Beer is great, service is great, and the food is awesome. Hard to believe they make it in a BUS! :0) Plus, kid and dog-friendly.
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
Super beers and great conversation at the taproom with Anna. Thanks for your warmth and welcoming! There is a great variety that will not disappoint. We are proud of our beers in Wisconsin. Tennessee should be proud of their beers from Blackstone.
google avatar

Hannah L.

Yelp
This is our go-to hangout. A chill vibe and delicious beer. Doesn't get better than that. Our favorite brews include the Hop-Jack IPA, Trop-Jack IPA (seasonal), and the Nitro Chocolate Milk Stout...Yum!
google avatar

Bob J.

Yelp
Great place for beers definitely would come back. Have beer specials and very nice bartenders, shout out to the girl from arlington heights

Larry M.

Yelp
The beer is good but those chicken tenders are not your kids menu "check the box" chicken tenders. They're made with real spices and some serious TLC. I'm talking no dipping sauce needed, down home cooked greatness. 10/10 will come back for the tenders (and the beer).

D S.

Yelp
This may be my new favorite brewpub in Nashville. We stopped in on a Saturday after experiencing the chaos of tourist pit stops (and we weren't even near Broadway). Blackstone was calm, not jammed, nice bar and knowledgeable barkeep. Clearly, they cater to people who want good beer, not just something to swill while listening to Open Mike. We returned on Sunday afternoon. It was busier, but the barkeep was pleasant and competent, and, of course, the beers we tried were all good. We also tried the food - order at the food truck outside, and the chef will deliver it to you in the bar. We had the fish and chips and a burger; both were very good and reasonably priced. Another nice touch is a charging station with a variety of cords on the corner of the bar. We happened to sit near it, and it became a way to exchange pleasantries with other patrons while we sorted and swapped charge cords.

Tony H.

Yelp
Blackstone beers are awesome. Ashley the taproom manager makes EVERY visit memorable. Food truck has best fish and chips in Nashvegas. Great atmosphere and service

James E.

Yelp
Three days after Lauren had so much trouble filling my Growler I opened it and the BEER WAS FLAT. I want to thank BLACKSTONE for giving me another Growler.

Eric D.

Yelp
Best taproom and brewery without question. Most attentive baretender too. Ashley rocks. She remembers names and faces. She's there almost every night. Your glass will never be empty. If you dig IPA get adambomb. You'll like. The bus serves good food. Get the fish in chips, they are better than any served on London.

Zach H.

Yelp
Best brewery in Nashville. I used to claim Bearded Iris as my favorite, but Blackstone beats them in every facet: variety of beers, flavor, service, prices, ambiance, and food options. If you're an IPA drinker like me, they have four great options from a lighter Session Player to a hoppy Atom Bomb. With rotating taps to keep current with the seasons, there's a always a beer available for everyone.

A L.

Yelp
We visited from out of town and wanted to try a variety of Blackstone beers. However, we were told they do not do flights of beer on Saturdays due to how busy they get. An hour later, an entire table was able to order a flight.
google avatar

Christina T.

Yelp
Great brewery! The nitro chocolate milk stout was delish. Also tried the cheese plate which was some kind of melty nacho cheese, which I wouldn't normally eat but the heart wants what it wants.
google avatar

Haley C.

Yelp
Went last night for the grand opening of the bar inside the brewery. They had 10+ beers on tap and everything I had was great. Hop Jack IPA is best in Nashville. I'll be back soon!!
google avatar

Chelsy L.

Yelp
We went here because everywhere we wanted to go didn't have any reservations available. So we didn't really have any expectations for Blackstone. We were surprisingly impressed overall. Very quiet, not very busy but comfortable and affordable. They are a brewery and their beer is pretty good. I had the fish and chips which was good and my husband had the tuna steak sandwich which was not great. We shared the beer pretzel for an appetizer and it was delicious. Overall the food is decent, the service is good, and the beer is tasty. Definitely somewhere to go have a few drinks at the bar and maybe an appetizer.
google avatar

George B.

Yelp
Al the beers in flight were great...the brewer has definitely benn working hard to get these brews down

Katie G.

Yelp
I had been to their restaurant once or twice and thought it was ok. However, the brewery is really cool. Nice side yard to hang out in when the weather is good and tvs inside for game watching. The beer is tasty and the service is good. We also ordered food out of the food bus they have. The portions were small but it was tasty!

Tony G.

Yelp
While on vacation we stopped at Blackstone and we're very happy. The pizza was excellent ant the beer was even better. If you're lucky they'll have the double IPA when you visit. Everything was so good we went back the next evening. Both times we were served by April who was outstanding.
