Great proper pints. Excellent customer service. Great atmosphere. Smoking patio, good prices & a pool table. Live jazz this evening as well. Everything that one might wish for in a true pub. Nice & dark, yet clean & classy. No complaints. I just didn't notice food being served (even more smart!). There are a ton of restaurants, public transit & shops all within close proximity. Very convenient & fantastic. Check list is full in my opinion.

Super cool new bar that opened up in the neighborhood! Great ambiance, and a full selection of drinks. Comfortable seating with booth or barstool options, as well as a back patio. Looking forward to coming again.

A fine evolution following its predecessors Black Thorn. Comfy tables, sunny back patio (when there is sun in the sunset), very friendly staff, and if you are a sports fan, lots of tvs!

Came in on a Monday evening for a Guinness. Chill bar with a smoking lounge in the back. Great TV view playing MNF. Guinness is an absolute creamer.

Watched the 49ers game here. Smaller place but everyone was together into the game. Lots of fun.

Extensive renovation has blessed the Inner Sunset with a beautiful new bar. Live music has also returned. Great beer and broad variety of whiskeys, along with pleasant service.

Have been enjoying Will’s trivia night on Tuesdays! Love the slightly different question format and that it starts at 7 and ends by 9. You can bring in food from elsewhere - they suggest tres underdogs around the corner. I didn’t love their one mocktail but the bartender made me a mock margarita that was pretty good one night.

I recently discovered The Temple, and it's become my new favorite bar! My friend and I spent about 45 minutes searching for a bar in the area, but none compared to The Temple. What impressed me most was the welcoming atmosphere and spotless cleanliness. I visited for the first time last Saturday (April 12) and had a fantastic time. The only thing that would take it to the next level is a food menu – some finger foods like fries or wings would be amazing. Having to order food through delivery services added extra cost. Despite that, I think The Temple has huge potential and could draw in even more customers with food options. I'm a total fan and live almost 30 blocks away, but I'll be bypassing all the other bars to come here from now on!

As a born-and-raised San Franciscan, it takes a lot for a bar to stand out--and The Temple Bar absolutely does. The atmosphere feels effortlessly welcoming, the kind of spot that reminds me why I love this city. The bartenders are genuinely kind, super attentive, and make everyone feel like a regular. It's become one of my go-to neighborhood favorites.

The service at Temple is unmatched-- everyone is a sweetheart and makes you feel right at home. The ambiance is to die for-- a gorgeous back patio and the music is always exactly what you need. Drinks? They've got you covered-- especially if what you're craving is an authentic Irish beer or cider. No notes!

A new bartender was being trained. It was fun to overhear that. She was doing great at pulling pints, but was a bit confused on beer types. Not so the woman training her. I used to work in adult beverages and ai learned a few things listening to her explain the many many beers the have on tap. I missed the live music but the place is awesome. Feels nice.

It was all fine, until I checked the credit card bill a few weeks later. Even tho I had left a hefty cash tip, whoever posted the credit card, gave themselves an additional 25%. Yeah, yeah, twas the season, but...

Temple Bar is such a gem. The second you walk in, it's cozy, lively, and just fun. The drinks are great -- awesome cocktails, tons of beers on tap, a smooth Guinness, and an extensive whiskey list that's honestly impressive. The bartenders are super friendly and instantly make you feel like part of the family (especially Martina!!). The music and events keep the energy up -- definitely check out the live music, trivia, or bingo nights -- and the whole place has that warm Irish-pub vibe that makes you want to stay longer than planned. The back patio is a nice bonus, too. And it's in a great, safe neighborhood, which makes it an easy go-to spot day or night. Perfect for hanging with friends, meeting new people, or just soaking up good vibes. Can't wait to go back. Sláinte!

Blackthorn bar is not here now...it was renovated and renamed...near 9th and Irving...I used the AMI jukebox and played billiards $2...fun to poke around...big bar space with a back patio...Irish bar theme...trivia and bingo...music...not really preserved...

Only been to this bar a couple of times, but I constant have a bad experience. The bartenders aren't helpful, I've heard from other locals that there are some ... unsavory characters hanging around. Would NOT recommend this as my first choice in this amazing neighborhood.

Had the most amazing time. Woman owned bar. Valkyrie's home base. Great bartenders. Love the weekly events, the regulars, and the sense of community. Grateful to have such fun neighbors;) Definitely worth checking out this neighborhood bar! Will be back!

For this price, I expected a proper balance, but it was watery with too much ice. Either they're saving on whiskey, or it wasn't whiskey at all.

The Temple Bar place is so cozy and comfortable. The espresso martini is the best in town (real espresso). All the bartenders are really warm and friendly, I have had Megan and Thomas serve mostly. The music is either jukebox or live... The Gas Men play the last Saturday of the month, I think, once a month anyway. They are fun, lively and really add to the charming atmosphere. I have not tried bingo or trivia nights yet but looking forward to it. The customers here are nice aswell. Great location in the Inner Sunset, close to Muni and Golden Gate Park.

They took down my last review because they wanted more details...so here's more details. I will share it with everyone I know. I waited forever to get my drink the last time I was there. Then while I was drinking it and talking to a friend at the bar, they cleaned up my drink that wasn't even finished. They said they would make me a new one and then the bartender promptly left the bar for the downstairs area and I never saw them the rest of the time I was there. Still--I shouldn't have turned my back to my drink-- Because It is unsafe to drink here. My friend was violated by another one of their customers. And they didn't even respond to requests asking for help accessing their security footage. Much more dangerous and offensive than them taking my unfinished drink away. I Used to go here with coworkers for happy hour, but no more--we are headed to a place where owners care about their clientele.

Had a great night and as we were leaving got cursed out by the band "Smoke Daddies" for absolutely no reason. They asked "did you enjoy the music?" Responded "yeah it was great!" And was met with profanity. Will never return or recommend because of this band. Shame because the bar was great until this happened.

I used to love this neighborhood bar, especially when it was the Blackthorn. But, it's no longer a safe place.

Located in the old Blackthorn Bar. Remodeled inside. New sanded wood tables. Drinks were great. Just recently opened.

Feels like a cleaned out Blackthorn. Don't see much resemblance to the original Temple Bar in Dublin. Bartenders are super friendly.

What a great place to drop in for a drink... enjoy the vibe! The real treat is on Friday late afternoons when they have a live jazz duo playing. It makes the end of the day even more special. Keep it up... I've been back for the music and drinks several times now.

love this place! the bartenders are so sweet and the vibe in there is amazing! theres a back patio for smoking and darts and a pool table inside! such a great spot to pregame or hang with friends. one of the classier dive bars in the city always good energy in there!

I went last night to this new place and was very impressed. It's beautifully built out with friendly and attentive service, great live music, and a nice walled and heated outdoor patio- and only a block from Golden Gate Park and walking distance to the de Young! I would highly recommend visiting. We only had drinks, which were great (and not those tiny thimble sized drinks so many places serve) but I'm eager to see what the food menu looks like when I return. ( I think the official opening is tonight, February 28. )

Just wondering how the very well known and popular Temple night club feels about the use of the name? Seems like a bit of a rip off to me and somewhat misleading. The red paint is beautiful but it's exactly the same dull vibe inside. New red paint but same bar, they might as well have named it the Red Thorn! Still I have to admit it casts a mysterious red glow on the normally placid Sunset Street. Five stars for that!

Love the new Temple bar- great vibe, excellent drinks! Im so delighted that they are also featuring some top- notch jazz music once a week! Such a rarity here in the Inner Sunset too! Wonderful place for the neighbors to gather and spend time listening- highly recommended
