"Hip Arts District morning enclave Blacktop Coffee seems to have disappeared overnight. The place has been all buttoned up since the weekend, with no advanced warning from ownership about what was coming. Instead, the only notice of an official permanent shutter is a small paper sign taped to the door that simply reads “FAREWELL.” Owners Joseph Pitruzzelli and Tyler Wilson (also the names behind Wurstkuche at the end of the block) haven’t posted to their website or social media channels since February, leaving expectant Arts District customers to show up, try the door, and walk away after a few minutes. Eater reached out to ownership to discuss the closure, but so far hasn’t heard back." - Farley Elliott

Coffee was great, actually really great! The problem was the cashier, was rude to customers, never said thank you, looked like he didn't want to be there. People have bad days, hopefully it's not always like this 🤔

Blacktop is a small coffee shop located in Arts District. I personally did not like their cold brew all that much. It tasted pretty acidic and is also on the lighter side. I like my coffee very dark and smooth. The worker recommended that I order a brownie so I did - it was just okay. I generally love brownies but this wasn't the best.

Sublime coffee! They had an amazing single estate Ethiopian bean for espresso that blew my mind: fruity but without the slightly fermented taste those beans sometimes get. The cold brew was wonderful too. And I loved the avocado toast.

Awesome coffee and beautiful sandwiches on rustic bread. I come here regularly to buy espresso beans. My favorite espresso roast by far! It's called Owl's Howl. It's a blend of beans and has been remarkably consistent over the few months I have been buying it.

Delicious espresso, perfect on a nice day out, also offers a wide variety of pastries and a nice brunch menu. Blacktop is nicely hidden in the middle of the arts district and offers a unique view point of the iconic, spread out, relatively quiet segment of downtown. Check it out, but don’t plan on staying too long, only because it’s too small and too pricy for elongated visits. Even still, the robust Americano’s and frothy Cappuccino’s will prove your time and money well spent.

Beautiful and relaxing place. Tasty coffee packed with tons of flavor! Plastic only, cash is only good for tips. Awesome staff! Great environment and very clean. Food items looked amazing and had a tempting scent! Creative place!

Pretty decent coffee, cute store front, lots of places to sit out front. The avocado toast seemed to be the popular breakfast choice either because it's good or because everyone in this area eats avo toast/wanted to photograph avo toast.

Their whole beans are AWESOME. 5 solid stars. We got the Finca Alcatraz, it's a Colombian bean that is great black or with coffee/sugar. They also have a nice more fruity, acidic, coffee bean if that's more your preference. Buy them beans up with confidence all you coffee feens.
