Really good Brisket and Burnt Ends. Mac and Cheese was really good as well. Soda machine was down but they have cans while it’s getting fixed.

Blackwood BBQ on Clinton St. offers a delightful BBQ experience. The meats are succulent, infused with smoky goodness. The sides are equally impressive, and the service is top-notch. The casual yet inviting atmosphere adds to the charm. A must-visit for BBQ enthusiasts seeking flavorful, well-crafted dishes in a welcoming setting.

Good food. Great location. Great customer service. The 3 cheese mac is delicious. The cole slaw is tastefully spicily delicious. Try it!

Good food and atmosphere. Staff very very friendly and helpful.

The Mac and cheese is fantastic, if you like your bbq saucy, you'll have to ask for extra sauce.

Google
Generous portion when grabbing dinner here at the end of a long day. The pork was yummy and the sausages were pretty nice as well. I enjoy the pickles that you get with the meet, though the mac was pretty mediocre. Got the job done, but didn't blow me away. Perhaps would've been a bit more fresh and nice tasting for lunch? Might've gotten the leftovers...

I got the brisket, mac and cheese, and cornbread for lunch. The brisket was good, it was tender and fell apart easily. Not too smoky either. The cornbread was a bit dry and I'm not a fan of the whole kernel corn being in there. The mac and cheese was good but I wish it wasn't in an aluminum pan so I could have reheated it and the way it's cooked made it difficult to eat the edges, I had to dig a hole and eat the center only. I got the NC bbq sauce which was flavorful but tangy because of the vinegar. It was also watery, which I expected the sauce to have some thickness to it. Overall, I thought the food was good but a bit pricey for the portion size (~$15 for lunch). I would try it again because the brisket was delicious.

Yelp
We were waiting for our train at union station and needed to get lunch. This place was an easy walk from there. This is a no cash establishment. I order the pulled pork salad with the Chicago sauce on the side (so good and not too sweet or spicy). I enjoyed the cornbread croutons, carrots, cherry tomatoes, sweet potatoes and cucumbers on top. It was a large serving and I was definitely full at the end. My husband had the brisket sandwich with coleslaw on top. He also had the pickled onions and cucumbers. The place has a fun vibe with music playing and personable Gentlemen serving up the food. Give it a try!

Yelp
I stopped in today for lunch. And I was truly happy I did. I had a taste for something MEATY, but I wanted a salad as well. The Brisket salad satisfied both cravings! Juicy brisket, fresh greens, plump tomatoes, and my crunchy fav-cucumber. They have other yum selections to add to your salad, but I kept it simple. Went with the Chicago Style Bbq sauce for the win!!!! Try em' out for breakfast or lunch! You will thank me later!!!!

Yelp
It's technically barbecue, but it's really a local chain that serves barbecue similar to how Chipotle serves Mexican food. I don't mean what I just wrote in a bad way, but the similarities are there. You wait in line, you read the menus behind the counter, you put your meal together and then you pay. Nothing wild and nothing crazy. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, a side of cornbread and a soda. My meal was perfectly acceptable. I was in and out in probably about 15 to 20 minutes. This isn't barbecue that I would intentionally seek out however if I was looking for a quick meal over lunch or after work, Blackwood is a good option. It was definitely a-ok during my visit.

Yelp
Blackwood BBQ is AMAZING. What a great find downtown in the heart of Chicago. Whereas everything around this place is on the pricier end, Blackwood has managed to keep prices low while offering some killer BBQ. It felt very much like a mom and pop shop with simple options, tons of sauces to drizzle, and sides that really slay the game. My friend and I came here before seeing RENT at Oriental. Between the both of us, we ordered a platter of pulled pork and brisket, the later of which you can specify how lean of a cut you want. I personally got both the lean and fatty cuts, and wish I had more of the later. But you gotta control yourself somehow! Each platter was less than $10 making it a steal in this neighborhood. For the sides, the baked beans were definitely the best. I would pick them over the mac n cheese and cole slaw. Even if you didn't get any extra sides, each platter comes with pickles to munch on to counteract the meat. Yum! Blackwood BBQ is surely a place to hit up again and again if you're feeling affordable, amazing BBQ.

Yelp
The BBQ was okay. They were out of Chicken so I settled for pork. They had beef too. You can have this on a bun or salad. Then you choose your BBQ sauce from sweet, spicy, mustard etc. Last select a side of mac n cheese, corn bread, slaw, beans, etc this is all served in a box. Everything comes with a healthy serving of these awesome spicy/sweet pickles chips. It would be easy to carry home or to the office because it's packaged so well. They also have soda fountain and bottle pop and water and tea. Along with fork and Knives and a nice seating area that is clean and well maintained. They also have some outside seats available picnic table style. Reasonable price it was about $12 a person. We did leave hungry though. Otis a cute ambiance - this is a walk up not a full service restaurant. They do have a restroom. And the place is very clean the staff is very nice.

Yelp
Why is this place so highly rated? 1) The meat is cooked to perfection. You will not hear anyone complain that their BBQ was anything less in texture than exactly what they wanted. They have mastered the correct temperature and length of time to cook their meats so that they are tender and delicious! 2) They've got options and if you are into that sort of thing like I am you will like the fact they sell massive salads with grilled meats, fresh veggies and sauces that tie it all together. If you aren't into salads, BBQ and just want your carbs well they have you covered there too with excellent juicy corn muffins, beans and pasta. 3) They have a wide variety of sauces my suggestion is to get as many different kinds as you can. While you do not need sauces to enjoy BBQ that is cooked to perfection it still adds a bit of zing to your food. If you don't like the one you tried don't have to act like a toddler about it just try another sauce! (Lol, I said what I said.) 4) They have this pulled pork. Look .... they have this pulled pork and one more time, they have this pulled pork and if you don't have reasons not to eat pork... YOU need to try that pull pork, because well it's the reason why I keep walking down there to eat. ;)

Yelp
About 30 minutes before closing time, I ordered a to-go order. Originally planning on ordering from the Lake St. location, we called and the employee was so rude and impatient. After talking to us and having us place an entire order he said "we don't have any" - not clarifying what he was saying whatsoever. Right after we decided to call this location and they were so much more friendly and patient. And even though we were those people who picked up their food 15 minutes before closing, the employees were still super patient and friendly! We ordered the brisket platter with North Carolina sauce, brisket sandwich with Chicago style sauce, corn bread, and elote salad. The brisket was delicious - tender and flavorful. The pickles that came with it lean more towards cucumber-y but still tarte and acidic. I wasn't a fan of the corn salad - it was too potent for me. It was 2.49 and was only a dinky little sauce containers worth. My boyfriend said he thought it was okay though, so to each their own! The cornbread was okay, but the outside was a bit tough. We both agreed that we would have enjoyed it more if all of it was more soft and moist.

Yelp
Chipotle rears it's head again. This time it's with barbecue. Pulled chicken with Kansas City style barbecue sauce. Elotes. Salted caramel root beer. As I mentioned, there is the Chipotle style method of ordering. Barbecue is something that should never be rushed. However, I think that formula is to cater to the downtown lunch crowd. Move 'em in, move 'em out. The pulled chicken was tender and moist. The sauce did nothing to enhance the chicken. The sauce was more of a drizzle. The elotes was the equivalent of cold corn salad. The salted caramel root beer scored points. I would have to return and try the brisket and baked beans. I've seen a few positive statements about the brisket. For the Near West Loop district, Blackwood BBQ isn't a bad option for something quick.

Erin C.

Yelp
Excellent. My husband and I were on a mission to try as much as possible in relation to Food in Chicago while we were in town but still not eat too much We decided to get a pulled chicken sandwich and a pulled pork sandwich and we split them in half. The chicken was way better than the pork but both were still very delicious. I would go back but I would get my own chicken sandwich.

Yelp
Ok. If you are from the south (I'm an implant since 2002), you would probably say, "What? BBQ in Chicago, Illinois!?" I had the thought also, but let me tell you, I ordered their "Burnt End's platter" and I was very pleased with the flavors. It was a bit fatty but the overall taste was better than 1/2 of the BBQ I've had in Texas. Give this place a try, my two Colleagues are on the "Keto kick" and loved the place also. So, if you are walking past this place wondering if it's worth it... It's worth it.

Rebecca J.

Yelp
Blackwood BBQ is a decent place to go for BBQ. I've been twice and I had the brisket and the brisket burnt ends. Both times, the meat I had wasn't as tender nor juicy as I was expecting for BBQ meat. The sides are delicious, albeit small. The Brussel sprouts and the corn are delicious and flavorful. However, based on the price and portion size, I'd say that Blackwood BBQ is on the pricier side for what you get in the meal.

Johnny H.

Yelp
Great BBQ! I had the pulled chicken sandwich with Chicago sauce and 3 cheese Mac. Delicious! The chicken had a great smoke flavor and the Mac was amazing. My wife had the pulled pork platter with Memphis sauce, beans and honey cheddar cornbread! She was also very happy with her meal!

Marc D.

Yelp
Excellent meat and delicious side dishes. Note that they can mix and match any meat for you. It is not on the menu but you can ask. Enjoy and try their sauce. Really worth it.

Yelp
So I was walking and following my gps on my phone... which was obviously directing me in the opposite direction that I needed to go. Frustrated, I decided to go into this bbq place I stumbled into strictly based on the signage outside of the restaurant. I love bbq. I've never had a brisket sandwich that I really thought was outstanding. And usually I don't order it because of my history with brisket bbq. But for some reason, that I can't explain, I thought I'd give it a try anyhow. The guy who took my order suggested a sauce "do you want some heat in the sauce?" He asked. "Yes" I replied. He put together the sandwich and frankly, it didn't look like much. I was expecting mediocrity at best. No fries, no coke slaw, just the sandwich looking all lonely on the plate. But saved from total solitude by the four or five sliced pickles accompanying the brisket sandwich. And then.........I bit into it............. and........ I WAS IN HEAVEN!!!!!! It was truly magical. It was like I was totally high, eating the best leftover macaroni and cheese on the planet, except I wasn't high nor eating macaroni and cheese. Thank you Apple for not being able to direct me,via maps, to my desired location. Otherwise I wouldn't have run across Blackwood bbq. It was the best brisket sandwich I've ever had.

Julianne C.

Yelp
If you're in the mood for a salad but you want it to be a bit more "hearty", or if you're forcing a non-salad lover/ manly man/ person who is allergic to health to eat a salad, take them here. The croutons are baked and crunchy cornbread bits (NOM), you can add pulled pork, brisket, chicken, and JACKFRUIT (I tried it and loved), along with multiple other toppings. You also pick a salad dressing that is more bbq based (next time I am going to ask them for it on the side because my dude DRENCHED my salad, but it was still good). Definitely a fun quick bite option.

AJ W.

Yelp
$13 for a few slices of brisket and a cornbread muffin. One of the worst values I've seen for BBQ and I eat a lot of it. The brisket is definitely good but the portions are questionable for the price.

Jeff S.

Yelp
I've been stopping in this place, or having my wife pick it up, for years. Sadly, it seems that our favorite dish - the burnt ends - has been reformulated. I tried the revamped dish twice before settling on this review (once last year, and once recently). The burnt ends are now just ok. The meat is still tender, but the smoky goodness has been replaced with the flavor of a sauce that is certainly unique to blackwood. It's not bad, but in terms of flavor, the meat and the smoke have taken a backseat to the sauce/flavoring. If you're here I'd avoid the burnt ends and get something else. The mac n cheese is still awesome.

Jeff B.

Yelp
I attacked that pulled pork sandwich like a hungry lion would a 2-day old gazelle, and I regret nothing. Damn fine bbq.

David M.

Yelp
I'm a Rhode Islander, so I might not be a world authority on BBQ (We don't have much). I do know one thing though: Blackwood BBQ was super tasty. Service is done assembly-line style: pick your base (platter, sandwich, salad), pick your meat, and pick your side(s), drinks, and pay. Fast, friendly, and fresh. I had the brisket platter with some mac and cheese. The mac and cheese is served in it's own little foil dish with ample amounts of crispy cheese to seal in the gooey cheesy macaroni within. As for the brisket, it was the best I've had so far. You get your choice of fatty cuts or lean cuts of brisket and there's plenty of it. The chicago style sauce was tasty too; well balanced with sweet and heat. I liked the choice of craft sodas too, always a plus! I'll be thinking about coming back here until I get to finally make it back.

Patrick H.

Yelp
Best fast BBQ chain restaurant here in Chicago. Good food, great service Always get the cornbread & ice tea for the full experience.

Cory S.

Yelp
Decent bbq place to downtown sums this place up. I would lean towards giving it 3.5 stars if i hadn't followed it up with dinner at Green St Smoked Meats. The brisket here was so smooth it falls apart in your hands. Pretty good flavor and smoke. The baked beans were also pretty good with some brisket and maybe pork mixed in. Great overall service and experience. The interior is a bit tiny, but gets the job done.

Kimberly O.

Yelp
My favorite BBQ is a tie between what my mom makes or what I make. I have yet to find my BBQ holy grail but I'm trying! The reviews here were so good that I wanted to give it a shot. I will admit I'm in love with the mac and cheese and the corn muffin. The mac was perfectly crispy on top and oooey gooey, cheesy on the bottom. The muffin was damn good. No explanation necessary. If my reviews were based off these two items alone it'd be a five, but it's not. I've never had brisket before today and I was feeling adventurous. I told the guy I was a first timer and he gave me a nice explanation of everything. He recommended the brisket "half and half." He slices through the middle of the brisket cuts a chunk out then places it on top of an end piece. This way I get to try some dry meat and some fattier pieces, which he says have different flavors. Whatever the flavors, I wasn't feeling them. The Chicago sauce also didn't help. It just tasted like some high fructose, processed sauce. I usually make my sauce from scratch so I know the difference. The reviewer who compared this to a BBQ Chipotle is spot on. I was surprised by how "chain restaurant" it felt. Not to hate on that but it makes a difference. I seriously might come back for that Mac & cheese though.

Jaclyn W.

Yelp
Delicious!!!!! I ordered the beef brisket platter through grubhub.com. the food was delicious, I thought the brisket was very tender and they give you a very large portion that will fill you up. It comes with a side of your choice and pickles, I decided to go with the three cheese macaroni. I would recommend this place each platter is about $8.50. The staff and atmosphere was very friendly when I went to pick up my dinner. The only downfall about the place is there is absolutely no parking.

Michael H.

Yelp
4.5 Stars? Highly overrated... have y'all had any real BBQ? First off, if you can't make a good sauce.. you're outta luck in the Q business. Tried the Kansas City: watery, peppery, tomato sauce I think is best description. Tried Alabama: again way too watery and no flavor to speak of from anything. The only reason to not go to either Green Street or Smoque would be convenience; prices are nearly identical! The meat is "smoked" but that's not the hard part, the pathetic sauces ruin the experience. Sides were pretty sad as well: tried the cornbread which consisted of a tiny probably pre-mix muffin that had absolutely no flavor. Served without any butter to boot. +1 star for the decent house made pickles; good flavor with the green beans & onions! Not sure why this joint is so popular or highly rated- mind blowing!! Talk later

Steven B.

Yelp
I'm from STL, a city that prides itself on BBQ and I am here to tell you that Blackwood's brisket puts our BBQ joints to shame. It was the most flavorful and tender brisket I have ever experienced. It was so tender, I was able to cut it into bite size pieces with a plastic fork. One thing that I also liked about Blackwood is that they only offer; brisket, pulled pork and pulled chicken. They do three things and do them well. My co-diners, both gave thumbs up to the pulled meats. I am more of a dry rub and natural seasonings man, but I did try the Chicago Sauce. I figured, it was only appropriate since I was in Chicago. Their description was spot on, it is just the right balance of sweet and heat. We all ordered Cole Slaw, which had a sweet tangy taste, making it a good accompaniment to our meat selections. Wish I could have persuaded them to each order either the baked beans or mac-n-cheese. I would have loved to see how they were prepared. Oh well, I'll just have to order them myself on the next visit. Sorry for no pictures of the great food, it was a short lunch break during a training class and I wanted to EAT.

Phil D.

Yelp
So it's a local chain in chicago; I'm ok with the multitude of locations as long as it's good, and the west loop locaiton of Blackwood BBQ definitely still delivers. Having had their 3 main meats here(pulled pork, pulled chicken, and brisket), I can say you can't go wrong with them. And while it's hard to compare with bbq from the south, In chicago blackwood bbq definitely fulfills any and all cravings if you go in knowing what to get. You get a choice of meat here in a serving style of your choice(sandwich, salad, or platter), and I would definitely say the platters are the way to go for your fill. The meats were all around juicy and flavorful; even the chicken which is often a let down at many other places. The brisket especially had a nice fat to lean meat ratio, as well as a smoke ring fully studded with plenty of flavor. And as for the sauces, while they offer 6 different types, my favorites are the memphis and chicago, the latter of which definitely has a hint of old style lager steering through to your taste buds. Others have enjoyed their other sauces, which I think are just ok, but I guess that means they must be doing something right. As to the sides, each comes in a small personal tin, and this is for the better for certain things like mac n cheese which is individually broiled to get a crispy panko crust. While none of them are bad, I'll say the best one is the beans, which are sweet and savory but also have beets of brisket and pulled pork in the mix. Chicago isn't a city known for it's bbq, but it's great to have a spot like this with some quality meats without breaking the back. Add some great sauces and decent sides on top of it, and with sandwiches starting at $7.50(1/3 lb. meat) and platters at $8.50(for 1/2lb. meat + a side), Blackwood is a place you can get a tasty filling meal for less than $10.

Kristin N.

Yelp
I was walking by and decided to grab a quick bite before a meeting. The place was busy but employees were wiping down tables quick so new guests could filter through. I had the brisket salad which was amazing due to the heavenly corn mixture that topped my lettuce and brisket! I would highly recommend stopping by for a quick bite!

Mark B.

Yelp
We stopped into Blackwood BBQ for lunch and enjoyed our meal. Décor: It's a BBQ place so there isn't much going on, it's all business. There's enough room for a decent line to for and they prepare your food right in front of you as you move toward the register. There are a handful of tables and even a few "bar" seats at the front window. Everything has a BBQ feel to it, with wood tables and metal hardware, and it's a very relaxing atmoshphere. Bathroom: unknown Staff: Everyone was very friendly and they prepared our food very quickly, they keep the line moving! Food: We each had the Brisket Platter (with mac 'n cheese) and a different sauce: Chicago (tasty) and Kansas City (more of a hot sauce consistency but definitely more heat), and a bowl of the Brisket Chili (very tasty!). Additionally I had a bottled lemonade, which was enjoyable. The serving size is quite good and I left feeling full (but not stuffed). Value: The prices are great, given the serving sizes! This is a great lunch spot and one I will certainly remember for the future for lunch (although, Green Street Meats is still king of BBQ).

Yelp
We tried again because Blackwood is closed on weekends. This time a lovely sign greeted us at the front door -- "We are out of chicken and ribs." My response was WHAT??!! I had hoped to try their ribs. I ordered a cup of brisket chili and the nice lady behind the counter's response was "Sorry we are out of chili." The look on my face must have been priceless. Thankfully they had the pulled pork platter and brisket platter. Their NC style sauce was good and the pulled pork was beautifully cooked. Brisket was good, but you cannot beat brisket in Texas. Their cornbread and pickles with green beans were delicious. I enjoyed their mac n cheese too. Service was friendly. Guess I will need to return for ribs if they do not run out.

Jeremy B.

Yelp
Pulling out the 5 stars for a fast casual lunch spot? Yes! Why? Tasty food, quick service, friendly staff and great value....what more do you need?!?! Was kinda sad to see its predecessor Satay, the Indian fast casual joint, go to the wayside but Blackwood is so good that frown was quickly turned upside down. As others have mentioned Blackwood is a Chipotle-like assembly line setup where you choose your dish (salad, platter or sandwich) and then your meat (brisket, pulled pork, or chicken) and then move down the line choosing toppings, sauces and add-ons before crossing the finish line where you pay. I've only had the brisket, and it is awesome. There are five sauces to choose from and so far my favorite has been the South Carolina, which a mustard based semi sweet sauce. I'm a sauce-whore and I haven't had the lack of sauce experience a few others have mentioned but if they did put the sauces out on tables and available to me I might find myself taking a bath in it, so I'm fine with what they give me.

Angie E.

Yelp
First time here and already my favorite!!!! So get this: they are a BBQ spot and they offer beef brisket or pulled chicken!!!! I'm on a crazy diet so I asked about the brisket and she told me they have a lean version!! Yes please!!! You can have it as a platter with a side or over salad which is what I chose. When I asked how they prepare it--- they SLOW SMOKE it for 11 HOURS!!!!!! And then finish it off omggggg the flavor is amazing. Know how I know? Because I didn't add any BBQ sauce. Due to my crazy diet, I can't have any sugars so I just had it as is, smoked, plain and it's amazing. I am super excited to come back here daily. Great friendly patient service, good quality, filling. And price?? Only $6.99!! Love.

Alfred L.

Yelp
Lovers of simplicity and BBQ, meet your new favorite lunch joint. Blackwood was simply one of the places by the office that I frivolously passed by once in a while. I was meeting up with a coworker for lunch and had a visual epiphany... Long and behold, the BBQ of downtown is here! Enough of the story talk, the menu is short and straightforward, so if it is on the menu, it has got to be the best or nearly the best you have ever tasted. I ordered a beef brisket platter with mac n cheese. The moment you see them gently slice through the beautifully charred piece of meat, you instantly knew we had a winner. The beef sweated like a cow in the desert and the meat melted perfectly with the Kansas City sauce. To top it off, fat over fat, I gobbled up the cup of cheesy mac. Just writing this makes my mouth water. The meat alone gave this place a 4.5/5. Now, off to my food coma paradise.

Bennie S.

Yelp
Family and myself were downtown visiting from Las Vegas when we ran across Blackwood. We all are hardcore BBQ heads and this places delivered. The options and sides were surprising. There was the run of the mill pulled pork sandwiches or beans for sides. The meat full of flavor, juicy, and seasoned. The sides were well thought out (apple coleslaw). After starting in on our orders we got up to get all the sides to try them and they all were good. And you can't go wrong when you get brisket and they ask you "fatty, medium or lean". We will be back.

Stephanie R.

Yelp
When I passed by Blackwood and saw a sign indicating they have a new chopped salad option, I immediately began investigating. I don't do BBQ sandwiches for lunch, because I would definitely nap the afternoon away at my desk... When I went at 12:30 on a Friday, the line was to the door, but it moved very quickly. Like Chipotle, Blackwood's got it down. I ordered the pulled chicken chopped salad, and boy was it good. You can choose your toppings (I got all of them), and those croutons! Amazing. Everything was fresh, and the chicken was tender. I will be back again, and it's great to have another salad option to work into my rotation.

Tim M.

Yelp
This place being only 5 minutes from Union Station, I stopped in and grabbed some BBQ to eat on the train. Service was quick and friendly. Very reasonably priced! I got the combo platter to sample all the meats and a couple sides. All the meats were juicy and flavorful. The real bonus here is the variety of authentic sauces, including both Carolina styles (vinegar and mustard based). The coleslaw was spicy and original (a good thing), and the beans were a hybrid of Texas style with a hint of sweetness. I normally don't like Texas style beans, but these wee exceptional with chunks of meat. The ambience is a bit too polished for me; it feels like Chipotle. BBQ needs a more "down home" environment. What this place loses in style points are made up for in the good food. Would visit again whenever I'm taking the train!

Annie T.

Yelp
I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich here and was very impressed. The chicken was very tender and moist. The flavor is really good and the Alabama style sauce completes this pulled chicken sandwich. I love white sauce and this Alabama style white sauce exceeded my expectations. I usually ditch the bread when I eat sandwiches but their buns were really good too.

Ellen M.

Yelp
This place is dangerous. I first noticed it during a walk, I mean, barbecue smoke aroma is hard to miss. A few days later, coworkers decided to walk down to pick up breakfasts and I was hooked afterwards. I've tried two of the breakfast options now. First was pulled pork and eggs over a biscuit, calories that I didn't need but enjoyed thoroughly. Next time was the breakfast bowl that includes eggs and cubed potatoes - also quite yummy. I went once for lunch. I opted for the salad with pulled chicken. It was good, and I'd get it again. Diets are cruel.

Caitlin B.

Yelp
I live in the area and have yet to really get used to the fact that restaurants on Clinton Street operate on a 9-5(ish) schedule. So while there is a plethora of places to eat, it's rare I actually get the opportunity to try them. I decided to head into Blackwood BBQ for lunch one day I was home, and was blown away by how delicious it was! I was not expecting the quality of ingredients to be as they were - very fresh veggies, home cooked baked beans and macaroni, and boastful about their antibiotic and horomone-free meats! Love, love, love! The menu is very limited, but that's okay - 'cause you're there for just what they have - some meats, and some to be expected sides of pickles, mac 'n cheese, corn bread... You get the idea. I opted for my favorite of the BBQ meats family - pulled pork - which is slow roasted dry, so you have the opportunity to pick your sauce. They have probably close to a dozen different sauces for you to try, all categorized by region and briefly described on the menu - I loved this! I'm a vinegar lover, so the fact that I could actually choose a Carolina sauce full of tang, over the sweet style that Memphis has to offer was awesome! (They even have a Chicago sauce, which according to my boyfriend is slightly sweet and spicy). Your sandwich will come with house made pickles (YUM), all other sides are additional. My eyes were larger than my stomach on this particular day, not to mention I'm a sucker for baked beans, so I decided to get a side of them - they were good, but honestly I was so full just from my sandwich and pickles, I could only have a taste of them or I would've blown up. Price fits the quality and portions of the food, and despite coming for lunch and given its location, service was super fast, efficient and friendly!

Yelp
Never heard of this place was in the area for a training walked by and went it. It's a different type of bbq restaurant that I'm used too. I had the beef brisket sandwich with the Chicago sauce. Delicious plan on going back today for lunch . Very limited seating which was a disappointment because it was a beautiful day too nice to be inside an office. Great place to grab a bite.

Yelp
This location is nice and new and has lots of seating, even a little bit of outdoor seating. I had the pulled pork platter with a side of coleslaw and I chose the North Carolina sauce because I love sour/tangy stuff. The meat was awesome. The coleslaw was okay. It seemed healthy at least and wasn't too creamy. Next time I will try the Chicago sauce since the North Carolina sauce didn't really blow me away. The meat, however, was great for bbq near the loop. I would come back to try the brisket.

Yelp
From New Orleans I know good food I know good service. Blackwood Bbq has both. I ordered the brisket dinner with baked beans coleslaw and Mac n cheese. The brisket was well seasoned and tender, mac n cheese was actually baked yielding the marbleized cheese on top everybody likes the beans were smack down good. The portions were ample, the overall presentation was appealing. You have to know how to really cook to pull brisket Mac n cheese and baked beans off well- can't fake good food. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I've ate Blackwood BBQ for breakfast 2 to 3 times a week for several years now and my go to is the Brisket and Gravy...I always eat biscuits and gravy at different restaurants when I go out for breakfast and this version will put all the others to shame. No joke, I can't get B&G anywhere else now because Blackwoods version with brisket is that much more superior. Trust me on this, try the Brisket and gravy.

Yelp
This place is awesome. The Beef Brisket is so juicy and no signs of being dry. I would recommend that if you go during lunch time, try to get there early or the line is super long. I have no complaints about this place whatsoever! Make sure you try the different sauces too! Yummy!!!!!

Yelp
Wanted to try something new for lunch nearby work and decided on here. And I would definitely order from here again! I don't usually eat BBQ (shame!) so this was a treat. Pulled pork platter was my choice and couldn't decide on just 1 side so I ordered three. 3 Cheese Mac, Apple Slaw & Beans were all so delicious and right portions (for me, after all the pork). I'm lucky to have this place near work, although that could be bad for the good ol' waistline. Totally worth it! Ordered online, fast service. Thanks!!!

Yelp
Not impressed with the meat, average at best. The burnt ends are diced into very unappetizing cubes and were not very tender and smothered in a sauce that I hadn't requested. Looked like cafeteria food or something you would get out of a warming tray at Panda Express. The meat would have been dry if not for the sauce it was swimming in. The order process online is very tedious. I waited for over 15 minutes to get an order pickup time confirmation that pushed me out 8 minutes beyond the time I requested. When I got to the restaurant there was no one in line and only a few people in the restaurant. The counter people were just standing around. If I had just gone to the restaurant instead of placing my order online I could have gotten my order a half an hour earlier. My guess is that no one bothered to check the online orders and that's why my order confirmation took so long. Even though I placed my order online they still managed to get my name wrong on my order and only gave me one of the sauces that I ordered. I will definitely not go back again. Don't waste your money on sub par food! If you want good smoked meat then I suggest GREEN STREET SMOKED MEATS, it's better by far and only a few blocks away.

Yelp
Went at 11:30 and walked right up to the counter. I got the pulled pork salad with Memphis bbq sauce and everything on it. So good!! Also got the brisket chili. It was really good but made my meal expensive so I'll skip that next time. The salad is filling enough!

Yelp
Underwhelming and over-priced. This is a "BBQ"-version of Chipotle/Roti, but unlike these other establishments, Blackwood's quantity is way-lacking, and the food's flavor profile is nothing special. But my biggest gripe here is the staff - they were not engaging at all, incredibly curt, and unfriendly. I understand the job is not glamorous, but to have an entire line of food servers (roughly five or six people) staring back at you with frowns on their faces is off-putting. I'm pretty sure I won't be returning.
