This Underrated Mexico Destination Is Set Across 9 Bays — With Laid-back Beach Towns, Bioluminescent Waters, and Charming Hotels

"Not far from the beaches of Bahía Chahue, Bladu'Yú focuses its entire menu on southern Oaxaca traditions from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (picture corn tamales, fried chicken with onions and potatoes, and garnachas topped with meat, cheese, and pickled cabbage). The restaurant walls are splashed in bright vermillion and decorated with brilliant, larger-than-life paintings that feature scenes from traditional Oaxacan life." - Travel + Leisure Editors

The 27 Best Restaurants in Huatulco, Oaxaca | Eater

"Just a few steps from the pristine beach of Chahué, Bladu’Yú is a culinary experience highlighting the cuisine of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec region of Oaxaca. Garnachas, small corn tortillas, fried with shredded meat and topped with pickled cabbage, dried cheese and salsa; tamales de elote, sweet corn tamales; pollo garnachero, a tasty fried chicken with onions and potatoes; adobo de res, a delicious beef stew; or estofado, a silky pastelike beef stew, long-cooked with chopped fruits and vegetables which make it at once sweet and tart, spicy and mellow, are all on offer and worth a try. The look of the restaurant matches the theme of the menu, with a colorful fruit bar and the traditional papel picado, the pecked paper that’s typical of Isthmus of Tehuantepec. We loved the complementary appetizer. Thin crisp tortilla like waffer with black beans, fresh cheese, cream & salsa. We shared some empanadas (ordered beef & cheese). Chilaquiles were a bit om the softer side but everything else was great.

This place is a gem, the food is delicious! My favorite was the empanadas, garnachas tamales de mole negro and enchiladas. The entree is awesome too. Service is really good, Ana was very helpful. I think this is my favorite restaurant in Huatulco.

The food was a bit dry and slightly overcooked for our taste, but we appreciated the complimentary tapas to start — a nice touch. The staff were absolutely lovely and very welcoming.

Super friendly service of Anna!!!! She was so nice and very proactive. Thank you. Food was great! Margaritas not super sweet and tasty. Agua de Jamaica was the best one I had in Huatulco. Location is nice and calm in the evening. But I assume it can get very busy during the day! 100% recommended!!!

One of my favorite restaurants. The food is delicious, I cannot get enough of the mole. Beautiful location and great service. I've been here three times so far and it is consistently great. Very good value.

Amazing authentic cuisine at very fair prices. We each ordered a drink, appetizer, and main dish to share. Flavours were outstanding! The best meal in Huatulco to date! Quiet area off the beaten path. Loved it!
