The 10 Best Bars In Culver City

"Want to go on a date somewhere that feels like Silver Lake without running into your ex (the one who lives in Silver Lake)? Go to this candlelit speakeasy, which is tucked behind a barbershop next to a Best Buy. The R&B playlist humming on the speakers is subtle enough that you can whisper something sexy to the person next to you in a red leather booth. And even on busy nights when guest DJs fill the room, you’ll still have enough room for a personal space bubble. " - nikko duren

15 Swanky Speakeasies to Check Out in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"With locations in Culver City and Highland Park, the Blind Barber is hidden behind a fully operational barbershop. Vibey speakeasy when you go through the white door inside. Nice but small selection of cocktails and wine. Definitely a good neighborhood bar, and usually not too busy. Live dj sometimes too!

Google
IT'S A REAL BARBER SHOP & THERE IS A BAR IN THE BACK !!! It was a Friday Night. I had just gotten off of work and I wanted to go out for a drink at some place new. I think I typed in "cool bars in Culver City" or something like that. So the Blind Barber popped up in my search. I made sure to dress sharp in a pink fuzzy jacket , nice pants, and nice shoes, as to ensure I was cool enough to get in. I've been to a couple of Speakeasy type of places before but this place was still a surprise. The drinks were priced a little high for my taste but they were stiff and delicious nonetheless. The DJ that night played great tunes but his transitions weren't the best. Maybe I caught him on an off night🤷🏽‍♂️ This is a slick spot to grab a drink. It has a vibe. And it is a non-descript side of town which helped in finding decent parking. Culver City might be the new "secret spot" 🤫 Don't tell everyone. It'll be our lil' secret.

Google
I came to celebrate my niece and my own birthday here with family and friends on a Thursday. The bartender was super friendly and attentive, which set the mood for the whole night. We were a party of 14 that turned out to be a party 30, with strangers participating in the festivities. They normally don't have a DJ on Thursdays but they brought one in just for us. Whoever made that decision ROCKS!! Thank you blind barber for allowing us to celebrate in style! We'll be back!

Google
Speakeasy located behind a fully functioning barber shop. Some street parking available. Came here with some friends for a drink on a Friday night and it was very laidback in the earlier part of the night, but quickly transformed into a bumping club after 11pm. There was a DJ and it is possible to reserve a table. Nonalcoholic options are available (the strawberry one I had was tasty) and they also have food available for purchase. There was a water dispenser at the corner of the bar counter.

Great place to party and hang out. Big John at the door was very friendly and professional. I will definitely go again!

Very cool hidden bar. The drinks were yummy, but it took a long time to get them ready. I really liked the music and vibe.

Google
A favorite speakeasy near the west side 🥃 Our favorite cocktail is the Figueroa their bag of homemade potato chip are always a great shareable* * there was once a time they had a whole menu of tasty grilled cheeses💭🫠 ‼️SPOILER AHEAD‼️ For those who love a good speakeasy It’s always fun to figure out.. Or see a friend squirm.. no need to ask the front, just cruise through the back office door like you know the owner👌 Never had a haircut here, have our own local suggestions for that..

I like the bar layout better than the one in Highland Park. The DJ booth has more space too

Yelp
LOVE Love love Pros: - the interior design is immaculate! - great music, great vibe, great drinks - fun place to go to with friends - bartender gave us a free drink-- ty! Cons: - can't find a thing i don't like about this place!

Yelp
Went here for an even my friend was having. It was so freaking cool, upon arrival it JUST looks like a Barber shop. Once you step inside the doors in the back of the barber shop it's a whole different atmosphere. The lighting is different, it's a mood. The music was definitely a vibes. The drinks, of the drinks were on point! The ginger shot, shot was intense, but good. They had a good drink selection, and a cool little food menu. I got tacos, and chips and salsa, really delicious. 10/10 definitely recommend.

Yelp
I visited Blind Barber this past Friday after having a seafood dinner. I ordered a drink, but before I could even take a sip, I started feeling sick from the dinner I had earlier. I went to get some water, but as I was walking, I felt like I was going to throw up, so I headed to the bathroom. The security guard followed me and asked if I had thrown up. I explained that my stomach was upset from the food I ate earlier. I didn't think much of it, but then he told me I had to leave because his manager wanted me gone. When I asked for the reason, he said it was because I had thrown up. I explained that I wasn't drunk and hadn't even had my drink yet, but it didn't matter. My partner tried to speak with the manager, but she refused to listen. I felt completely discriminated against and humiliated. I've been a loyal customer at this bar for years, and this type of treatment from the manager is unacceptable. Even the bartender acknowledged that the situation was uncalled for and didn't charge us for our drinks. However, this experience has left a bad impression, and I hope the management reflects on how they treat their patrons.

Yelp
We went for my friend's birthday on Saturday and had so much fun! The bartender, I think his name was Levi(?), made my friend a unique and amazing drink to celebrate and put on an awesome show while doing it! We drank, danced and, even for a Saturday at a busy bar, the bartender kept making great drinks and was super quick and kind when we went to order (because we were those people ordering cocktails). He made-up this amazing mango, vodka martini-esque drink that was probably one of the best drinks I've ever had. It was the best time and I'll definitely be back, if not for the atmosphere, then for the mango drink and service.

Yelp
Great service by Lexx. As always very satisfied with barber and haricut service by Lexx.

Yelp
The vibe of this venue is literally unmatched. A speakeasy in the fullest sense, there is an impressive cadre of spirits and cocktails to be imbibed. The ambiance was very jazzy and relaxed. I appreciated the commitment to their vibe. I was not overly optimistic that they would let us in without a reservation on the day, but the service was high and the staff was cordial.

Julien S.

Yelp
Writing this on behalf of my friend who is too livid to write this. The bar tender really was a dick to him. Made fun of him and then after he ordered too me somebody else's order and didn't make our drinks. The fuck?
google avatar

Cynthia H.

Yelp
Credit card only accepted, no cash. The gratuity is included when you get your check and of course you can leave an additional tip. The cocktails are seriously crafted here. To get to the backroom you have to go through the Barber Shop and open the door to get there. The newly renovated spot is nice. It has a very cozy feel and the noise level is manageable. You can sit at the bar or at the U shaped booths. DJ plays music around 9:00pm. They do serve food. I've only had the pretzel bites which came with melted cheese for dipping and hot mustard. The pretzel bites weren't dry and tough like some can be. These were the opposite, tender and moist. They paired well with my cocktail, N. Figueroa.
google avatar

Stephen M.

Yelp
1 star for any bar that charges an automatic gratuity and a separate service charge without disclosing it anywhere. My god.

Yelp
Love this place! Service was excellent and I can't wait to come back and grab a grilled cheese! I'm always a sucker for a hidden bar.

Yelp
Took me awhile to find a good spot... okay maybe a year! Thanks Lex. Okay I'm done. Thank you.

Yelp
Good place to hangout with friends after work! Music was very entertaining and the drinks options super tasty. It did get a little too crowded, was lucky enough to find seating but if you don't mind drinking standing up, than you should be fine. Great service!

Yelp
Ambiance: it's a hidden lounge bar behind the actual barber shop, where the bar opens and the barber closes at night, this place is by appointment only Service: very friendly and attentive, patient with ordering requests Food & Drink: back room food and drink is a secret behind the door GIANT PRETZEL - **** Queso and Grain Mustard, warm and tasty with cheesy and mustard dipping sauces, recommend KYIV MULE - *** bold taste of vodka and ginger beer RUM & COKE - **** sweet taste BATMAN - **** Gin, Italicus Rosalio, Peychaud bitters lemon, mint Price: decent food yet pricey drinks, expect about $25+ per person

Yelp
Speakeasy hidden inside a barber shop. Came with a group of friends on a Saturday night. Vibe and ambiance was nice. Pretty chill with a DJ coming on later in the evening. Will return if ever in Culver City again.

Marie J.

Yelp
We came to this bar for a friends birthday, we were inside for all of 5 minutes before our friend went to the line for the bathroom and a man purposely pushed her against the wall giving her a bloody lip. We went to security and they refused to do anything to help whatsoever and happily welcomed him back in. If you want to feel safe going out do NOT come here.

Haley Winn W.

Yelp
Went here with a group of friends. A male patron threw my female friend into the wall and her lip was bleeding. Security "didn't want to take sides" and wouldn't kick him out. If you are a woman think twice about coming here because even if you are literally assaulted staff will do absolutely nothing to help you.

Yelp
First time here and I'll definitely be back to see Emanuel. My hair is curly and I got a low tapered fade. He did exactly what I wanted.
google avatar

Dale M.

Yelp
Excellent service, will definitely go back for a fresh cut. Booking online was easy and the folk who work at the spot are very friendly.

Justin G.

Yelp
The new Homo Happy Hour event on Thursdays is incredible! The host Denzer is so amazing and welcoming. It's so nice to have an LGBTQ+ weekly event to look forward to during the week on the Westside and Denzer executes it so well. DJ Tay Tay was my favorite DJ so far. He played all the hits and then some. We were grooving the whole time. This is a required stop if you are in Culver City. The bar tenders are amazing and friendly as well.
google avatar

John C. S.

Yelp
I was extremely happy with the service. Lex can cut curly hair which is a blessing. I felt taken care of. He listened to me and did his magic. Lex is adaptable and instinctual. A true artist vibe. He will run with whatever you ask for and do it right.
google avatar

Susie D.

Yelp
Fun spot! Could be gimmicky, but because the barber shop is actually used, and they did a fantastic job using the space and with the decor, it's a fun concept. The bartender cares about the drinks, makes tasty ones, and while I didn't have food, everything looked really good and I'd like to try it sometime.
google avatar

Kevin E.

Yelp
Packed bar that does shady business. Adds a sneaky 20% gratuity to every check even if it's a single can of beer. Worst part is they don't openly tell you so I was tipping on top of that. LMAO AVOID. The "speakeasy" part of the bar is just walking into a barber shop then it's just another crowded bar with expensive drinks.

Aaron B.

Yelp
Probably one of the worst experiences I've had coming to this place. I sat for nearly an hour with no service and mild traffic. The head bartender blew alcohol into a torch to create an ambiance and spat on me not once but twice. He offered me a drink but by then I was already over the experience. Clearly you shouldn't drink while working. Completely ruined the blind barber vibration and experience. Very disappointed with tonight's service. What's normally a 4 star operation was every bit of a 0 this evening. I won't be back. Thanks
google avatar

Hm S.

Yelp
In renovation. Call before you go. Supposed to be ready before end of the year. The owner has another location.

Peter S.

Yelp
Lex is great! he did a fantastic job. they're super nice in the shop too! appreciate going there
google avatar

Andre B.

Yelp
Drinks are good and I love the entire speakeasy vibe the hidden doors and hallway vibe. Music was also pretty good one of the good spots in Culver City.
google avatar

Yelp
Super cool and fun speakeasy!! Upon entry, there were actual people there getting their haircuts and having some cocktails. My friends and I happened to get there for Happy Hour (6-8pm I forget which days though) and we were super happy and surprised with the cheap prices. Moscow's and old fashioneds were $8, well drinks $7, and beer and wine $5! The atmosphere was casual, and lighting wasn't too dark or too bright. The bartender was nice enough to explain how the drinks were made and make casual conversation with us. We got a couple rounds and our drinks all came out great, with the exception of the dirty shirley (wayyy too much vodka) and we had a lot of fun drinking and hanging out at this cute place. When we got our receipt at the end of the night, I noticed a $14 extra charge and the bartender wasn't able to void it with the system. He instead gave us a voucher for 2 free drinks next time we came around which we appreciated a lot. I hope to be able to come here again soon.

Yelp
Food: 8/10. Delicious all around! They really nailed their grilled cheese. The toast crunch is wonderful without being too tough to bite into. Super fresh & savory. I just wished they gave us more dressing for the salad, but otherwise this was a great meal. Would love to revisit soon. The dessert was top-notch just like their entrees. Service: 9/10. Food came out relatively quick (& hot)! Bartender was friendly whenever we ordered. It'd be 10/10 if the front staff was a bit more engaging though. They all ignored us except for 1 guy who just asked to check IDs which was awkward bc it was our first time there & we weren't sure if we were just supposed to walk straight to the back to be seated or wait for the front guy to direct us. Back staff way more customer-friendly. The server was especially nice. Atmosphere: 9/10. It's like a true speakeasy! Very dark & dimly lit to help that emphasize that vibe. No windows, but that's to be expected for a speakeasy location. Spacious, and the booths are comfy, but the tables are pretty small, so all your food/plates are cluttered.

Gaurav A.

Yelp
Lex was awesome! Incredibly friendly and helpful given this was my first time having my beard trimmed

thomas h.

Yelp
this mofo can trim a beard. high level of attention to detail and professionalism, got me from scraggly to ready for wedding in 45 minutes. nice relaxing experience. highly recommend.

Kit S.

Yelp
bowser is awesome. blind barber is still one of my favorite places in Los Angeles and love to go anytime I'm in town. The remodel of the bar is so nice.
google avatar

May M.

Yelp
They check for vaccination cards so prepared to show them once you enter the barber shop! You walk through and there's a door at the end to enter the speakeasy. A semi true speakeasy for sure! Service was great, the entire staff was super helpful. The grilled cheese with the tomato basil dip was delicious! Drinks were a hit or miss. Otherwise, a cool place to check out in the area!
google avatar

Preston I.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite bars in LA! Love the fact that it's a barbershop during the day. At night, the back turns into a dark, hidden bar. Really fits in well with the speakeasy motif. The bartender is great, and drinks are both strong and reasonably priced. There's usually a DJ on the weekends, and it can have almost a club vibe on some nights. Great for an evening with friends or even a date night. Plenty of street parking available nearby too.
google avatar

Jake T.

Yelp
Blind Barber is a great spot for a great barber service. I've gone to John for a couple of years. He's a great dude with a patient and happy talent. Grab a drink while you wait, go to the speakeasy in the back with friends when you're done. Look good doing it. Price is about the same as other shops around. I've always felt the quality here is top though.

Chase S.

Yelp
Came in here for drinks. It's just as good as I remember from 10 years ago. McKayla is amazing! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
We came here around 7pm on Friday night to pregame dinner. We made a reservation but definitely did not need to because it was pretty dead. We ordered three drinks, one Moscow mule, one strawberry something, and whiskey neat (?). The strawberry something was not good and was very imbalanced, pretty disappointing for a cocktail bar. The alcohol taste was very strong and there was almost no strawberry flavor. The whiskey was fine, the Moscow mule was also super gingery and imbalanced, according to my friend. It looked like they had a DJ in the corner so maybe it's a bit busier in the evening? I keep seeing TikToks about this place and was pretty disappointed. I'll give it another try because maybe they were having an off night, but am not super excited for it.

Yelp
This review is for their speakeasy. Been here a few times. The most recently 4 of us came in and all the tables were empty at around 7:30PM. Ask the bartender about seating and he seemed irritated that I asked him a question. He reluctantly said if there's no reserved sign then take a seat. We found 1 tiny table that was wobbly and barely able to accommodate the 4 of us. We ordered food, pastrami tacos, Jack fruit tacos, chips and soup. Couldn't see the food as the lighting was nonexistent over the table. And the server never brought us utensils or napkins, finally had to get up and ask the food runner. The water glasses were filthy. We ended up grabbing plastic water cups ourselves. We had several drinks from happy hour; beers, old fashions & Moscow Mules. When we asked for the check our server tried to just get us to pay without even seeing the check. When asking to see the check we saw that the beers were charged full price instead of happy hour price. She was like " those aren't happy hour beers"...um yeah they are. We pointed it out on their menu. SMH. Check was adjusted after some time. I wonder how many guest just overpay when she doesn't print a check out? She never cleared anything off our table even when paying. Weird. I don't see how anyone would find this place a destination spot for dining or would pay VIP prices for rickety tables with nonchalant service. Previous times here I was at the bar and it was cool. There's better options seriously. My friend said he was sick the next day after eating there. Thankfully he was the only one. Not personal but our experience.

Ross C.

Yelp
Erick asked and listened and delivered. Friendly guy. Skilled barber. Good conversation - sincere, interested. I received compliments from family and friends.
google avatar

Katrina L.

Yelp
Love this neighborhood speakeasy! The drinks are amazing- I tried the Moscow mule and filthy Shirley. The Moscow mule was super refreshing and balanced. The filthy Shirley was a fun spin on a classic soda :). Music was also fun the night we went, would come again.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is really cool. You walk into the barbershop through the closet and you're in the bar. It was a little weird when I entered though because the barbers didn't say a word and just watched my group and I walk in. AWKARD. Anyway, the bar itself was really nice. Happy hour is everyday from 6-8pm and there's a small selection of drinks to choose from. If you are hungry they also have a menu with sandwiches and appetizers. Overall, a cool place to get a haircut and a drink in the same establishment.
google avatar

Saman T.

Yelp
I never wrote a negative review and this is my first time writing one.The worst experience I had so far. I had an appointment at 1:30 and I walked in at 1:30 and no one even said hi or greet. So that is ok. No one talked to me so I thought whenever one of them finish I am next. One of the barber finished and someone else walked in and I think it was his friend and he sat down and I did not say anything. so the other barber finished and there was a kid there and he sat down. So I asked when is my turn then one of the barber checked and he said yes you have appointment but you need to wait. So I waited 30 min and still nothing. each appointment is 30 min by the way. the whole time they ignored me and I was there till 2. they were so disrespectful and at the end I asked them when is my appointment then and they said you can leave and we do not charge you lol. they are the worst in customer service and so disrespectful

Yelp
Amazing little speakeasy in the back of this Barbershop- you would never know it's there (I suppose that was the point of Speakeasy's...). I showed up around 9pm and stayed the whole night. It was not busy at first and the music was chill- good setting. But then as people came through they started really getting the bar going! People dancing, sitting at the bar, and chilling in the booths. Everyone was having a good time. I MUST give a huge shoutout to my hostess/waitress, K. She was incredible- great energy & vibes, took great care of us without being overbearing, and was literally running around the place doing the same for everyone while working the bar and at some point even security.... I hope she's getting paid well for what she brings to the Blind Barber... I even broke a glass (sigh, first time for everything), and she took care of it right away without any animosity. I was incredibly embarrassed and felt horrible, but she was so kind about it! Thank you, K!!! I was definitely be back because of your service!

Yelp
Finally stopped by the Blind Barber. It was brighter than expected when I arrived but that's because Tuesday is Trivia night. There were several groups playing and having fun. At about 9p the light dimmed back down to the usual bar mood. DJ started playing a great selection. Jeff the bartender was fantastic. We enjoyed the grilled cheese #5 and that kale!?! I was not expecting it to be more than garnish. I'm so glad Jeff said something. The SWEET panini was delicious and definitely something to be shared. Looking forward to my next visit.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
This place was awesome! You entered through the door in the middle of the barber shop, made it very cool for new guests to experience. The drinks were great and bartender was very nice. They had excellent food choices, seems like they're known for their grilled cheeses. Even had a delicious vegan option with really good vegan cheese. We loved this spot!

Alex B.

Yelp
The vibe was cool but the drinks were disappointing. I thought they claimed to be a cocktail bar, but they free-poured the drinks instead of jiggering and both of mine were (unsurprisingly) out of balance. I should have known it was a bad sign when they served my daiquiri on the rocks
google avatar

Briseida N.

Yelp
Loved the vibes in here! The drunks were delicious and fairly priced! We tried the N. figueroa 2.0, Batman, strawberry fields and hot heather! They were all so good and the service is also great!

Yelp
I've wanted to come to Blind Barber for the longest time but never made it out here. Grilled cheese is probably one of my all-time fave comfort foods because I love bread and cheese hehe. We swung by on a Friday around 7pm and Blind Barber was surprisingly pretty packed! Going through the barber shop was actually really cool because people are getting their hair cut. We decided to split #4 and #7 so we could try more than one sandwich. #4 had Taleggio, aged Parm, Shiitake, Crimini, and Truffle Oil. I loved the earthy flavors of the mushroom, which worked well with the cheesy blend of Taleggio and Parm. The sandwich was pretty cheesy and buttery. I'd get this again! #7 had Pepperjack, Smoked Gouda, Habanero, Thai Chilies, and Jalapeno. I have a pretty high tolerance for spice, but this was super super spicy. The grilled cheese was very addicting to eat even though my mouth was on fire. I loved eating half half of #4 and #7! I could cool down my mouth with #4 haha. I also enjoyed the light Kale Salad, which was served as a side. Both of the sauces were delicious and flavorful as well! While the prices are high here for just a grilled cheese ($15+ after tax and tip), I would enjoy coming back here to try some of the other flavor combos. I definitely admire Blind Barber's unique grilled cheese offerings and cool concept! Definitely want to try their cocktails too.

Derek G.

Yelp
Lawrence was awesome! I came in for a beard trim/shape and he was super knowledgeable and really skilled. I'll definitely be back!
