Real nice space with a clean barber shop and speakeasy bar in the back that host local djs. Definitely recommend this place for all the music lovers. Clean and fun experience and the drinks are tasty!

A nice lounge/bar behind a barber shop with a very chill vibe & solid DJ. It felt like a speakeasy and when you walk in past the barber shop, it feels like a neighborhood bar where everybody just wants to have a good time with drinks. I’d definitely come back here again, but I’m old so it might be a while.

The Pomelo Anderson was one of the BEST tasting cocktails I had this night. The drink itself was so fruity and refreshing, very tasty. The coarse salt on the rim was a great touch. They were also playing good r&b, and everyone was just vibing. Super fun bar.

I love this place. The ambiance, the cocktails and the secret door are amazing. I visited on a Wednesday and the crowd was a nice, eclectic mix of people. The bartenders are a little slow, so when it gets busy, be prepared to wait. Tip: it is a couple doors down from Afters Ice Cream.

Bought 3 beers and the bartender asked me “how come you didn’t tip?” lol what a joke. I’m not suppose to tip and it’s not mandatory. I was going to give cash tip until he felt entitled for a tip when I pressed “no tip” on my card. Tipping culture is getting outta hand

My female friend was violently pushed into a wall by a male patron. She left bleeding and staff didn’t even kick out the man who pushed her. Not safe for anyone but ESPECIALLY women as if you get assaulted here staff won’t care or do anything to protect you. Will never be returning. edit: the man VOLUNTARILY left the bar after staff said if we agreed to all “get along” they would let us all back in, including a very physically violent person!!! They do not take safety seriously. The Blind Barber speakeasy is not willing to take any accountability or help patrons who are assaulted by other patrons. I have never seen a venue with such callous and appalling “security” and cannot believe the way they handled this situation.

Overpriced drinks. Mojito has no seltzer. BIG nono. Music is ok. Space is small. Lots of men. Boo. Men have no sense of awareness. Long bathroom line. Good light fixtures.

A love a little secret bar! Behind the super cool barber shop (my friend actually gets a great haircut there too!), you enter into darkness and mid-century modern chic. The drinks came in glasses like my grandma had! I am giving 5 stars for the AMAZING grilled Brie cheese sandwich. Wow. I can’t stop thinking about how delicious it was. Drinks were good but beer selection is not. And nothing on tap. I’m not a fan of rap music in a place that looks like a retro living room but I’m picky about music. Def going again for the grilled cheese alone!

Had Lawrence for my haircut and he was great. Very friendly and gave his opinion on my hair when asked which was appreciated. Made quick work of the cut and I left quite happy with my hair.

Wow so I guess I'm not the only one who's experienced a tipping problem here. Me and a friend came here one night and we arrived at around 12:30am. Upon arrival we decided to order drinks and I proceeded to pay with my card and didn't tip. The bartender then proceeded to try and shake me down for tip money when it was literally my first drink of the night and I just arrived. I thought tips were earned not given ? Anyway as I'm walking away I hear bartender say "enjoy your last drink of the night" and then he starts to talk to another bartender. Seriously? This is the people you employ at this establishment? I thought tipping was earned not given ? Anyways I don't think I'll be back here for a while if any. The music they play is subpar at best and the aesthetic of the place is nice if you're looking for that kind of stuff. Very rude employees and I hope this doesn't hurt future customers. Wouldn't recommend coming here as the drinks are already expensive and the bartenders will require that you always tip them on every transaction. Nice work ethics.

Great little bar situated behind an actual barber shop. A true speakeasy. Dim lit, sultry, retro vibes the moment you walk in. Full size bar with ample seating and booth seating. A separate room with couches, a rad skylight with art, and a cool Sponge Bob SquarePants fish tank. I liked all the small details to make it the special place it is. We came here during happy hour. It was just us and a few other people, which was nice. Our bartender was friendly and hospitable. She gave us some great recommendations of places to eat close by and served up some amazing libations. I had the strawberry fields. It hit the spot! Not too sweet but ever so refreshing. Perfect! My husband was happy with his old fashioned and my sons delighted with their drinks; The Hot Heather which is their most popular drink and the Kyiv Mule. They automatically add gratuity to the bill and let you know so there are no surprises. According to our bartender, this place is standing room only after 10pm, so it was nice we came when we did. No draft beer, which my son said was a knock on this place. The food was delicious! For being bar food, they put a healthy spin on it, which some can appreciate. Although my boys prefer grease and fried bar food, like French fries with a grilled cheese melt, they did like the kale. A great way to end our work week. We will definitely be back. Parking is simple. Street parking or two parking lots in the back. Cheers!

I drove 40 minutes to get to this place on a Saturday night, at about 8-9pm. I had a long week of work and finally had gotten the opportunity to go have a little fun. Once arrived I walked to the bar and ordered a drink, the bartender looked at me and told me.. "i'll serve you water and no drinks for you" I thought he was joking! He then told the other bartender not to serve me. For the record I was 100% sober! I spoked to the security and told him what happened, he agreed that it was very strange due to I was NOT drunk at all. I ask to speak to management but the manager seemed extremely busy as the place was pretty full. I will describe the bartender.. skinny Caucasian looking guy with a man bun light hair about 5'9, the other guy was a heavy tall guy Caucasian also, light hair man bun. This was very unfair, he made me feel horrible and embarrassed in the presence of my friends. My friends and I would never go back there as this was a terrible experience.

Came here on a friday night for happy hour. It was blissfully uncrowded. We took over the room with the Spongebob Squarepants fishtank and tropical vibes dome. You have to order drinks at the bar but they will bring your food to your table. The Kyiv Mules (nice to support Ukraine by renaming it) were strong and $9 during HH. We also got a $8 grilled cheese that was gooey and yummy. The best part is the retro vibes of the lounge. And remember this is a speakeasy so you have to pass through the barber shop to enter although the entrance isn't really hidden.

This isn't a speakeasy or bar that's brought up on lists of speakeasy's but it should be. You would never know what is hiding in here by just walking or driving by. We got here after a show during the week closing on midnight so we had the place almost to ourselves. The ambience is normally very lively, dj on the weekends and pretty crowded so being able to get a seat with ease was nice. The beer menu lacks a bit of originality but this is more of a cocktail place so if you're a beer drinker you've been warned. Other than that it was a good menu with nice variety and it even had options for those that don't drink alcohol with some refreshing mocktails. The drinks were good, not much to say about the beer since it's canned or bottled. The mocktails were good from what my group said. As well as other mixed drinks. Service is what you would expect, bartender was cool he went over drinks made sure we knew what we were ordering. Just simple straight forward hospitality. It's a nice spot to come for a drink anytime. The vibe is very laid back and if you want the novelty of a speakeasy then this is a spot to visit.

Beware! If you go to this spot, do not feel pressured into leaving an additional tip. I say additional because apparently they tip themselves and it starts at 18%. So any added tip increases that %. In other words, they are telling you "the beer costs this much and in order for you to buy it, we require a minimum of 18% tip. That is also the reason we do not accept cash." Besides that, it's a nice spot. The place has good music and plenty of space to sit and enjoy. I wonder if SB 478 will put a stop to this. They should be more transparent about this type of stuff. This takes away from a good experience.

What??? I was shocked when I realized I haven't reviewed Blind Barber before. I had a birthday party here shortly after they opened and have been back several times since. For those that don't know, there's a hidden speakeasy located behind the Barbershop. It has a funky décor that will take you back to the 70s. The bartenders can whip up creative craft cocktails in addition to the classics, and they offer a limited food menu featuring imaginative grilled cheese sandwiches, which are nommy! During lockdown, the only way to gain access was by reservation only, so I was surprised when PIC and I walked by and saw the sign advertising Happy Hour. I grabbed his arm and said, "It's open again. Let's get a drink!" Jesus was behind the bar. He has a warm, friendly personality. I told him I was digging the tunes and he said on Sundays he plays his own personal playlist. (They have a DJ most nights.) Not only does Jesus make a good drink he also has great taste in music. I ordered a HH margarita. It was very refreshing and perfect for the hot summer evening. PIC & I enjoyed our cocktails and conversation with Jesus and came back the following Sunday because he is that cool! The place gets crowded later in the evening, so if you want to relax and chill I suggest Happy Hour, especially on Sunday when Jesus is manning the bar. This place is card only and %18 gratuity is automatically added to the bill in addition to a 2% service charge, which is a total bummer! *Open Tues - Sun 6 pm - close *HH Tues - Sun 6 pm - 8 pm *Metered parking in the back lot or on the street.

Great spot for a comedy show. Very good comics overall and some are working on material or trying to figure out their voice. One comic, won't say who, had an off day and that makes me think he needs to lay off the drink. The restroom was surprisingly clean, so five stars for that. I think this spot is nicer than the one in Culver City.

I love a bar that provides a great ambience. This place definitely has that potential and delivered. It's great for toconversation over some cocktails. The bartender was kind great suggestions and also crafted a drink of his own (el guapo) I enjoyed it was definitely different reminded me of a old fashion but more depth and dimension to it. The service was good I will say beware if you're here for a nice drink and on a budget. They do charge you a automatic gratuity 18.00% and a service charge of 2.00% which was unexpected. Overall I enjoyed our visit keep in mind I came on a Sunday 9pm with my girlfriends. Definitely considering this place for a date or a catch up with the girls. Also he had lovely music taste we enjoyed it.

I wish I could give this spot more stars because it was a cool scene. Unfortunately, as other people have mentioned here, you really have to watch your tab because charges will just appear. The ambiance is cool, service is good, the vibe is nice. It's really just the fact that they tack on random charges...there was a cocktail fee? I contacted them about it but got no response. I would have less of a problem if they just included it in the price of the drink. When it seems like a spot tries to trick you out of money it's just not a good look. Smh.

Truly a barber shop. We entered and it was completely empty when we got there. Walked to the door to the back which is the entrance to the speakeasy. Reserved a table and was seated immediately. It was around 9pm and the place was fairly empty. First drink was the "smoke & dagger" which was absolutely phenomenal! I'm not even a big cucumber fan and I enjoyed this drink so much I even ate the cucumber. It was so light and refreshing. Then I got long islands. The spot got pretty packed along 11pm, there was a DJ the whole time playing some good "oldies", eg what I grew up with. Spot is very much a dance spot during the late night.

Place sucks, don't come here. They automatically add both gratuity and a service charge to your bill, then have the audacity to still ask for an additional tip at the bottom of their receipt to guilt trip you out of more money. Greed at its finest, people need to stop giving these places their business until they cut out this insane tip culture crap. Absolute clowns in management

Giving this place one star is too kind if i'm being real, I don't understand how unprofessional the staff here can really be. Especially the security here, they allowed an Assault to happen! Instead of caring for the girl who was hurt by a 6ft man he ended up saying it was both parties fault?? The girl who was shoved by this 6ft clown is in the wrong?? Idk safety is a pretty big thing to consider when coming to a bar and my friends definitely didnt feel safe at all tonight.

The concept is pretty cool, I did like the design of the exterior. The drinks were good not overly sweet, this place just needs more bar stools, not convenient for a girl in heels. It does get a little crowded for a small area in the back. I was lucky the gentleman next to be was nice to give me his seat. Also, needs better music. It was not my vibe.

Saturday night - the male bartender is surly and rude before you even have a chance to speak. Acted annoyed to have to make drinks. Instead of "what can I get you?" He just stares at you angrily. Really strange experience with him - you work for tips and yet you treat patrons like they did something wrong simply because they approach the bar for a drink? We said hi, and he just replied with the stare. Why bartend if you hate people so much? Want to note, though- The female bartender was lovely and friendly and didn't act like she hated everyone there. 3 stars instead of 1 for her, and Drinks were good, space is kinda cool, but I don't wanna go to a bar and be treated like I'm unwelcome before I even have a chance to speak.

More like blind bartender. My drink was awful. Tasted like straight up preservatives. My bf's drink was a bit watery. The bartender seemed very angry. The whole experience was weird

HUGE shoutout to the bartender who helped my friend have her birthday party here. We intentionally chose a Sunday night because it was less crowded and it paid off--basically felt like we had rented the place out for a private party. Easily fit 50 people and we could have had even more. Call ahead if you're planning on having a larger party or if you plan to eat here. The food is not always available. It also looks like there could be DJs on some nights. There was a deck in the corner that we were able to plug in and play our basic af birthday club songs. Drinks: heavy handed for our bartender and on the stronger side for sure--still tasted delicious and decently balanced. I went to the Blind Barber in Highland Park for the first time last night. First, the positives: cute space, love the speakeasy vibe, the event that was being hosted at the time was a ton of fun. Now the reason for the 2-star review here is that I had gotten 3 drinks in total and used my card to pay, wrote in a tip, and went on my way. When I got home, I was way surprised and disappointed to see that there had been an 18% gratuity added to my check that the bartender failed to bring to my attention, which resulted in a 41% total tip based on the original check's amount. Now before anyone starts rolling their eyes or claiming I should have looked closer, I did in fact verify the line items for the drinks that I had ordered and consumed. The issue here is that automatic gratuity is not standard practice and when it is used, patrons should be made aware of this. Hell, every coffee that you purchase these days is emblazoned with "CAUTION: HOT COFFEE IS HOT" when all hot coffee is expected to be hot. Not all bars add automatic gratuity so it should be brought to customers' attention when automatic gratuity is employed. The practice of sneaking it onto a person's bill without their knowledge is shameful and akin to theft. I will likely be returning to the bar in the future, because as I said the bar itself is good, it's the business practices that might prevent me from coming back if management has any problem with adjusting my bill when I call them later today.

I stopped going to the blind barber after they started limiting their haircut appointments to 30mins. I made a last minute decision to book an appointment this past weekend since the shop I frequent was booked up. The time limit doesn't seem to be an issue if you have shorter hair but as someone with medium/longer hair, the service seems rushed and quality is not up to par for a $60 haircut. Luckily I didn't cut the top of my head so it's able to cover some of the inconsistencies on the sides. Still a fan of the bar lol.

Terrible customer service. If zero stars were an option, this would warrant it. I had made an appointment for a haircut after having visited the speakeasy in the back multiple times. But when I arrived (on time), I was made to wait for 10 minutes before I realized my barber was not there. No communication about what was going on at all. Apparently my barber had cancelled and didn't bother let me know. Isn't that the whole reason for an appointment? I never received a notification or email or text about their cancellation. As I told the only barber there that I was leaving since I would be further delayed if I waited for them to get to me, he did not apologize but instead rudely told me I would be charged the 50% cancellation fee anyways. I couldn't believe it. I was told it was not their problem and I had to email them to get a refund. I left angry, walked into Fellow Barber over on the next block, and they took care of immediately, had me out the door in 20 minutes with a fresh cut. That's the way it's done. And apparently, they've heard many similar stories of bad experiences at Blind Barber from their clientele. Seems like they should stop masquerading as a barber shop, ditch the whole speakeasy gimmick and just stick to serving drinks and not wasting people's valuable time. I am deeply disappointed by this establishment's lack of respect. As a long-time resident, I've never encountered such disrespect and unprofessionalism from a local business. Despite being excited to try their barbering services and being a fan of the bar, my experience was disheartening. The treatment I received has permanently tainted my perception of Blind Barber. My previous recommendations to friends and my neighborhood pride have been eroded by this incident. I sincerely hope that this review serves as a wakeup call for the establishment to address its customer service issues. Just doesn't seem like the way to make it right is to offer a discount to come back for more terrible service and not address the issue with their rude employees. Sadly, I will not be returning to Blind Barber Highland Park for either the barbering services or the speakeasy. I feel compelled to share my disappointing experience on platforms like Yelp and social media to ensure others are aware. I hope the establishment can prove that my encounter was an anomaly, but my faith has been significantly shaken.

Blind Barber is always a great time, I always bring people that are new to the area here because it's a really fun environment with great music and drinks. The barber shop/speakeasy just adds to the fun of the place but even without that element it's just a really fun place to hang out. They tend to have djs on the weekends and the music genres can vary a bit but it's always a good time. The drinks are well made craft that give you a nice flavor without being overly pretentious. The bartenders are friendly enough but usually pretty busy. I never have a problem finding a seat here as long as you get there somewhat early. I really like that the crowd is pretty mixed which makes for a nice experience since most of the HLP spots tend to be a little less diverse. Great spot for a night out with friends or a date but it can get a little loud so conversation isn't going to come easily.

Honestly do not come here. I came here with 4 girlfriends of mine on a rainy night and the bouncer is RUDE. He did not let one of my girlfriends in because "she is too intoxicated" mind you we were all sober. We wanted to have a good time at a bar since we haven't seen each other in a while. The bouncer looked like a 50 year old 5'4 man wearing glasses. He jumped straight to conclusions thinking she was drunk or high just because she didn't answer a question of his - "what do you do for a living?". As a bouncer you don't need to ask questions like that, thats not your job. So disappointed because this bar is actually so cute and music is good. Just because the bouncer caused us unnecessary problems, it ruined my love for Blind Barber.

Nice ambience, great music too! The night I went, the kitchen staff (the chef I believe) didn't show up to his shift unexpectedly. Hopefully he was ok as one of the bartenders mentioned it was out of character for him. However, the bartenders did a phenomenal job at making do with what they had and even offered us some free popcorn! My friend and I took pictures in the barbershop chairs right before the entrance, and then enjoyed the music and drinks inside the speakeasy afterwards. Overall cool spot, and would recommend it!

This location is a lot different than the other locations. We only went for a cocktail and quickly left but I can't wait to come back. The service was great and the bartender - kahlia was great! She made an amazing paperless plane! She was attentive and really sweet to Everyone that ordered with her. Before entering make sure you have proper Covid documentation! Highly recommend the paperless plane and the truffle popcorn!

Great drinks . Great bar staff. Music is superb. Horrible security guard in barber area. Makes this a no return for me and my associates. I'm not a visitor or HP. I'm a resident. Children born here. But, the annoyance of how black bouncers choose to treat black customers never seem to outgrown us.

Bar overcharge scam. Went on 4/27/24 ordered 2 margaritas. Total came to $43.05 when I asked for the receipt the bartender danced around the topic for at least 10 minutes saying the system is broken, saying he couldn't hear us, & lying saying no card was charged under that name. When I showed him proof of the charge on my phone he Finally gave up and said "we don't overcharge here our system is broken but I can offer you 2 shots for free to say sorry" bartender is a man 5'4-5'7 stubble beard long hair.

I was reading the other reviews and unfortunately glad it's happened to them as well. Now I'm writing this review to add with others, that they're scamming everyone who orders drinks. Old fashion comes out to be around $15. I ordered two and it came out $44.29... the math don't add up. Avoid this place and there's a better bar just across the street that won't scam you.

I wish I could give this place more stars because the bartender and servers were amazing. We celebrated my friends birthday party here last Saturday June 1st. The host and security guard were incredibly rude. The tall black guy was the worse, he was aggressive for no reason, yelled at us for standing in the front. The host who stood at the front was incredibly rude and looked like he hates his life. When I walked outside to get cash at the chase ATM across the street he snapped at me when I walked back in and questioned if I had already been inside because the bar was at capacity. I said yes I'm with the private party and he rolled his eyes at me. All around good service good music amazing bartenders...but the security guard and the host almost ruined our celebration.

I might've just visited this spot on an amazing nighht but the DJ was just doing it for me here. Idk if it's always like this but if it isn't yalll need to bring whoever was djing fri 10/21 because SHE was playing all old school reggaetón and I'm not just talking bout daddy yankee( which I love too) but I'm talking bout tego Calderon, cosculluela, arcangel, Zion & Lennox, don omar, hector el father, rkm & ken-y, and more. She knew what she was doing with that. Definitely be back hopefully it's just as good of a night.

I came here for a friend's birthday a few weeks ago. It's a really cool speakeasy concept where you enter through a legit barber shop (not operating at night though) and walk into a speakeasy bar. On the Friday that I was there, they were playing a mix of hip-hop and r&b ranging from the 90s to now. We got there pretty early (around 10pm) so at that time, it was still a bit spacious; but by midnight, it was slammed. Lines took a while to get drinks and it was HOTT IN THHURR. This is a place where mostly people are single and looking to mingle with an age range of 21 - 35.

So the reviews are true. The 5 star ones must have been when this certain bartender wasn't scheduled. Went there for the first time the other night for a friend's bday celebration. Seems like a fun place with dancing, music and a bar with areas to chill on couches. They have water can things to grab water from on your own but that was empty. Asked the bartender and he pointed to it and I was like it's empty. A woman at the bar said she told the bartender the same thing and had the nerve to have attitude at her. Anyways, I got my water eventually. Tried to get a drink at the bar after from another bartender. His name is Spencer (I found out later). I sat down at the end right next to his cash register. I assumed there's maybe 2-3 people-ish before me getting drinks before he can help me so I wait a bit. But he continues helping other people who came up to the bar AFTER me. He doesn't even acknowledge that I'm there and I'm sitting NEXT to his register that he came to like 4 times to cash the other people out. So I speak up as he's coming back to the register, "Can I order a drink please?!" He stops dead in his tracks, looks at me funny like I disrespected or was rude to him or something. He's like "oh you scared me." In my head I'm like, don't give me that look, you know my ass has been sitting here. My boyfriend was next to me the whole time so clearly there's different people there. He makes me my drink but basically holds it until he makes everyone else's and passes it to them and takes shots with them. The drink was alright. Barely tasted alcohol. My boyfriend said the same thing about his, AND the guy before me asked him to add more cuz he couldn't taste anything either. Cut to the end of the night, Spencer is doing the MOST sucking up to my boyfriend (because he bought a round of drinks for all our friends and you know he wanted a really good tip). He was hugging all up on my boyfriend and hand shaking and tryna do shots with him. I stopped it cuz as he was doing all that, I went up and stood next to my boyfriend holding his hand and he still managed to not acknowledge me. Listen I'm done with this place. This night was all I needed to not come back. If you're gonna complain and give all these excuses that it's busy and you can't handle it, then don't work in that environment. 2 stars is for a decent time dancing and my buddy's friend was a DJ at the end of the night.

Cool spot, pretty good service and good drinks. Got really packed towards the end of the night and quite warm. They could use a 2nd stall in the women's bathroom. But overall really nice with great ambiance. I would come again.

What a cool place! I went with a party of 4 on a Friday night, relatively early in the night around 8pm or so. We were able to get a seat quickly but I noticed that most tables were reserved or full, so reservations are highly recommended! First of all, I have only been to the location in Chicago and didn't even realize there was one in Highland Park! We walked through the barber shop and into the back via a door on the left side of the back wall. Immediately you go into a dimly lit hallway and then walk into the main room. There is the bar area where a lot of people stood or sat on stools, and there are a few small seating areas and two larger, more private/secluded areas which are great for larger parties. We didn't try any food but each ordered a cocktail. My favorite was the Hot Heather and least favorite was Strawberry Fields. Parking - we found paid parking in a lot nearby (only about 75 cents and used quarters) Service - Friendly but busy so can be a little slow, but you know they are hustling and trying to be attentive to everyone which I can appreciate Facilities - the restrooms are all gender and sometimes you'll have multiple people/genders in there at once which I have never seen before

Dont go here shitty drinks the bartender was hella rude he has long hair and was rude from the start i didn't give him a tip and he complained about not giving him a tip and pretty much kicked me and friends off the bar area cuz we didnt tip his shitty service and im sorry but i will not tip bad service.

I loved the fact that it's a speakeasy behind an actual barber shop. You enter in through the barber shop and into a door in the corner which leads you to the bar. I loved the decor as it gave out a retro-pulp fiction-y vibe. We went here early at 730 on a Friday night because we were looking for a cool spot to have some drinks before our dinner reservations and there was only one or two other customers besides us which was fine because we were just there to check it out before going to dinner. We later found out that it gets crowded and turns into a club at 10-11. We just ordered some chips, popcorn and hummus to nibble on while we had our drinks. There were 6 of us so we had 2 rounds of house tequila shots, 5 tequila cocktail drinks (Paloma) and 1 whiskey drink (on the rocks) and our bill came out to be over $500!!No one questioned it until we were at dinner as I looked at the itemized receipt. They tacked on 2 service charges on there which amounted to about $150!! Mind you, we only had chips, popcorn and hummus!!! Our dinner bill at a great restaurant across the street was even less than this bill and we had cocktails with dinner too!!! So this place is good for late night dancing but I DO NOT recommend this place to come for drinks and appetizers (I mean you can't even call chips and popcorn appetizers)

So, I've been to other BB locations before and to be honest it's been a mixed bag. I was kind of hesitant when it was suggested as a the next stop. The set up is still the same, there's a legit barber shop out front but and then you go through a door and into the bar. The retro, 70s den-ish decor is still there but the service is definitely more responsive and friendly. Maybe it was because it was an off-peak day but the bartender was friendly, quick with recommendations and based on that I tried the IMPEACH 45. Politics or not, it was a good whiskey based cocktail, like a peach pie spiked with bourbon. It's hard to be surprised by whiskey based cocktails, so it was a nice to have a drink that wasn't a twist on the usual.

They secretly charge a 20% tip on every order!Bartender super rude. And takes drinks if you go to the bathroom. He says your rude if you ask for a replacement. Never coming back. Brought 6 people, they aren't coming either

ROB YOU BLIND!!! Should be their new true name. They sneak a 2.5% "surcharge" + 20% "service fee" IF you dare spend $100 or more AND add taxes TO ALL OF IT... then leave a separate line for TIPS! WTF?!?!? Is this even legal? My friends and I used to be regulars here but after this week's BIG surprise, NO MORE. I will be calling my bank to dispute these ridiculous charges. NEVER AGAIN will we be going to this place. STAY AWAY!

Terrible customer service. If zero stars were an option, this would warrant it. I had made an appointment for a haircut after having visited the speakeasy in the back multiple times. But when I arrived (on time), I was made to wait for 10 minutes before I realized my barber was not there. No communication about what was going on at all. Apparently my barber had cancelled and didn't bother let me know. Isn't that the whole reason for an appointment? I never received a notification or email or text about their cancellation. As I told the only barber there that I was leaving since I would be further delayed if I waited for them to get to me, he did not apologize but instead rudely told me I would be charged the 50% cancellation fee anyways. I couldn't believe it. I was told it was not their problem and I had to email them to get a refund. I left angry, walked into Fellow Barber over on the next block, and they took care of immediately, had me out the door in 20 minutes with a fresh cut. That's the way it's done. And apparently, they've heard many similar stories of bad experiences at Blind Barber form their clientele. Seems like they should stop masquerading as a barber shop, ditch the whole speakeasy gimmick and just stick to serving drinks and not wasting people's valuable time. I am deeply disappointed by this establishment's lack of respect. As a long-time resident, I've never encountered such disrespect and unprofessionalism from a local business. Despite being excited to try their barbering services and being a fan of the bar, my experience was disheartening. The treatment I received has permanently tainted my perception of Blind Barber. My previous recommendations to friends and my neighborhood pride have been eroded by this incident. I sincerely hope that this review serves as a wakeup call for the establishment to address its customer service issues. Just doesn't seem like the way to make it right is to offer a discount to come back for more terrible service and not address the issue with their rude employees. Sadly, I will not be returning to Blind Barber Highland Park for either the barbering services or the speakeasy. I feel compelled to share my disappointing experience on platforms like Yelp and social media to ensure others are aware. I hope the establishment can prove that my encounter was an anomaly, but my faith has been significantly shaken.

What I love about highland park, is there are always new discoveries! It is crazy that you can live in this area and think you've seen most spots from driving and walking on figueroa and then boom, a new discovery! My boyfriend had been looking for a spot to get his hair cut and came across this barber shop. As he was getting his hair cut, had realized people coming in and out of this back door. He asked about it, and was told that there was actually a bar there. He told me about this spot, so we decided to check it out. This speak easy type bar is super cool! We stopped by on a Sunday and they had both booths and spots at the bar. They had a ton of options for drinks (beer, wine, cocktails) and also appetizers and grilled cheese sandwiches (that i guess they are famous for). I had a Moscow mule, which was super tasty and then an emerald titty which was also super yummy. The bartender was friendly and talkative which was cool! What was also nice is they had a dj, which made it not feel like a Sunday night. I would definitely come back, i had a lot of fun!

Tuesday night barback is an asshole, but the bar has a cool super natural sci-fi 70s design.

What in the name of gentrification were these surprise 18% gratuity and extra charges about? If anything, I thought I'd have received an 18% off given the drink quality. Maybe Saturdays are suppose to be "lite night", since the mixed drinks all tasted like a watered down version of what was advertised. I'm not sure if I left that night more irritated or sober

My husband got his hair cut by Bao, and has been trying to book a quick 5-minute touch-up (for slightly uneven sides & evening out the fade), but cannot get ahold of BB. We've both tried calling, leaving voicemails, emailing, and in desperation - even instagram DMs, but no luck booking a quick touch-up without having to put down a full deposit for an entire haircut. (The only way to book a haircut is to put down a deposit online only for a full-on, hourlong haircut, which he doesn't need.). We will not be coming back unless BB works on their customer service and communication.
