I had the opportunity to work with the Blockhouse + Orangerie team in February and their customer service was exceptional. Manda was quick to answer questions and prompt with emails. We hosted a wedding venue tour there in February and their professionalism was top notch. I hope that I am lucky enough to photograph more events at this wonderfully unique and sweet, hidden Portland gem! This spot is truly special. (Also, name another venue that has a wandering rooster named Strawberry!?)

We just had our rehearsal dinner at Blockhouse on May 31st, 2025. Blockhouse was exceptional! Everyone who attended kept commenting about how stunning this venue was! We booked the orangerie as well. The staff at Blockhouse were communicative and friendly. We had very minimal decor because the space was so beautiful on its own. Everything seemed to go smoothly throughout. Our guests loved seeing Strawberry (the chicken) wander through the event whenever she wanted and come hang with us. Thanks for an amazing evening Blockhouse!

Such a great venue! Staff was very hospitable and accommodating. Loved the cozy feel with all the beautiful greenery! And the chickens were great “extra” guests!

As a wedding photographer, I absolutely LOVE Blockhouse PDX! It offers the perfect modern garden oasis while still being easily accessed from the metro area. And, with Oregon having unpredictable weather, this is a great all-seasons venue. Who wouldn't would a dreamy greenhouse wedding? It also offers a variety of options photo wise from urban surroundings with a more industrial aesthetic to a whimsical garden world! Can't recommend enough!

The Blockhouse and Pomarius Nursery was and is the most amazing wedding venue that we could have dreamt of for our April wedding. With our small and intimate guest list of 40 people, the space felt so personal and intentional. It was so versatile for our ceremony, reception and dance space. The staff was amazing and so communicative with helping us plan our day all the way from Indiana. We are so grateful we found this little slice of heaven in the heart of downtown Portland.

Venue staff were rude, petty and outright disrespectful. I travelled from Europe with my wife and one-year-old son to attend my sister’s wedding and reconnect with family for the first time in more than 10 years. From the moment the event began, staff harangued us with prohibitions and criticisms about where we were allowed to sit, stand or converse. When it came time to eat, we were told our infant son should remain in the back of the venue and not accept his assigned seat at the table of the bride’s family. Later on when he fell asleep in his stroller, staff instructed us that we should abandon the wedding and wait for it to finish outside on the street, where on the opposite sidewalk a group of vagrants had established a overnight camp they shared with three fierce-looking pitbulls We travelled 5,400 miles to share in a joyous family milestone. Instead, the celebration was ruined by the staff’s repeated gestures of hostility and unwelcomeness.

One of the best decisions we made was choosing this as the wedding venue. They were very easy to work with, followed up at different steps leading to the day without ghosting, provided recommendations for other vendors, and the place has so much character when combined with the Pomarius orangerie. The only downside I would say right now is not having a dedicated space for getting ready. I hope they expand this in the future. I will highlight the super professional staff that served us from booking on. No wonder this place is popular.

Yelp
Attended a wedding in this Nursery and it was an amazing venue. Fabulous party space. And you have flowers and plants already around you in abundance.

Yelp
Blockhouse and Pomarius Nursery were the gorgeous green setting for our wedding. It is beautiful and a photographer's dream. Our guests loved the unique and intimate space. Only quirk is that there may likely be a train going by during your ceremony, like it did during ours. But honestly, it added to the charm of the day. The staff is easy to work with, and their list of preferred vendors is comprehensive.
