Blossom - Atwater Village Review - Atwater Village - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"With four locations throughout the city (they also have storefronts in Chinatown, Downtown LA, and Santa Monica), Blossom is a certified mini-chain. And it feels like it - the self-described “Vietnamese noodle shop of sorts” has a sleek, uniform look, with minimalist decor and stark white walls. The main event here is their phở, big, steaming bowls of the rice noodle soup topped with shrimp, beef balls, or hefty portions of rare steak. Is it the best phở in the world? Certainly not. But it’s a great addition to the neighborhood and exactly where you should be on a cold Los Angeles day (70 degrees or below). LA Guide The Best Restaurants & Bars In Atwater Village" - Kat Hong

Officially one of my favorite spots in LA! Everything about this place is PERFECTION. Stumbled upon this and am so glad we went in! Photos of almost everything we ordered. Definitely great portions to share and enjoy for appetizers. It was my first time having a Vietnamese crepe and I’m so happy I had it here! Spring rolls always slap so you knowwww that had to happen! The pho. I can’t even begin to explain and let you understand the flavorsssss. Wow. Please go and enjoy.

Google
Delicious pho, I tried the beef flavor. Enjoyed the ginger lemon beverage as well. Great service and atmosphere would highly recommend!

Google
Hands down, best Vietnamese restaurant I found in LA! The vibe is super trendy and fun. The Pho is DELICIOUS. Kevin is awesome as well and super helpful with his recommendations on dishes and generous with portions. Highly recommend!

Google
I had a wonderful experience at this Vietnamese restaurant! From the moment I walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. The service was quick, friendly, and professional. They made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of throughout the meal. The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The oxtail pho was rich and aromatic, the spring rolls were fresh, and the crepe was crispy. You can really taste the authenticity and care in every bite. Whether you’re a fan of Vietnamese cuisine or trying it for the first time, I highly recommend this place. Great food, top-notch service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Google
Solid Pho on the west side, with shared tables. All of the staples are there, with some specialty items like crab noodles and fried rice. Pho Ga was pretty good, as were the spring rolls

Google
So, I was in the area and needed to kill time. I’m glad I found the place. It’s super cute too. Whether solo, date night, with friends, etc. Anyway, if you follow me on here you know I’m a sucker for flavorful and CLEAN broth! I ordered the Oxtail pho, first time having it. And no regrets here. Came out piping HOT!!. The oxtails were meaty, tender, and falling off the bones! Lord. I ordered the #4, shrimp and chicken egg rolls. They were cool, but not my jam. All in all, 10 times outta 10, recommend.

Google
Blossom is the best Pho and Vietnamese food in this area! So flavorful and a wide variety of dishes. Vegetarian options, as well. Amazing pho, egg rolls, and salads. I love to sit outside on a nice day at the picnic tables. And the staff are so nice.

Google
Ive been to Blossom several times now, and every time the food was delicious. The spring rolls are my favorite in the city, and the Chicken Pho (Pho Ga) is very yummy. Inside seating is comunal, and there are tables outside with heat lamplight. The last time I went in, the service was surprisingly not great. They were clearly very busy, but the waitress staff made no attempt to acknowledge us, and we had to flag them down for everything. This had never happened in the 3-4 times Id been there previously, but worth noting: service might be a bit slow at busy times. (We ate at about 8 on a Saturday night).

Yelp
Four stars for the Bun. I felt the noodles were dry and thick. My friend ordered the PHO and he really enjoyed it and said his noodles and broth was good. Five stars for the service and attentive staff. We arrived at 7pm on a Saturday evening, warm Summer night, but inside was pleasant. The communal table was fine for the four of us to have a conversation without feeling like others could hear us. The ginger limade was delicious! My husband enjoyed his Orion beer. There is a 18% service charge that you don't see unless you ask for a receipt after you pay. Parking was easily found for free on a Saturday evening after 6pm on 28th Street, south of Ocean Park.

Yelp
I really liked the food at this Vietnam noodle restaurant. I had rare steak noodle soup which was excellent with plenty of steak. Price was reasonable at $22. I subtract a star for very cramped indoor seating just one long table. However there are some nice outdoor tables. I did takeout and ate at the nearby Starbucks. Recommended.

Yelp
You know a place has become the neighborhood favorite when you see people come with their dogs and chitchat with other guests. You also know a place has grown out of being just an ethnic eatery when you see people of different cultures and heritages dining under one roof (and all demonstrating excellent dexterity with chopsticks, BTW)! I've been to Blossom A for many years and I'm so glad to see that they have BLOSSOMED into an A list local restaurant! Highest on my list of recommendations is their Oxtail Pho - very filling and gratifying with rich broth and large chunks of oxtail. The popular thin steak pho is also good. Salads and egg rolls are on par with most Vietnamese places on the west side. Great ambiance with a long community dining table inside and small garden/picnic tables outside. On a sunny day it's a great please sitting outside along Ocean Park Blvd. And I wish my review could be accompanied by some background music (some day Yelp would have that function, right?). I'd love to record some of the nice music they play here - eclectic, with different genres; sophisticated and yet relaxing. Parking can be a bit hard depending on the time. There are many meter spots on Ocean Park (front of restaurant) and residential street parking on 28th and 29th; but this is a popular dining district so you may have to circle around to find parking.

Yelp
Great food great service our waitress dulce was excellent great attitude, I will definitely come back and recommend this place 10/10

Yelp
Amazing food but terrible service. Didn't get a drink we order (and were charged for) and we look over and the servers are just drinking in the corner and not paying attention to any of the tables. The food came out extremely fast though, which was a bonus, and everything was super tasty.

Yelp
Never heard of Blossom, but I am glad I went. I don't frequent many Pho spots in LA. Just not my go-to. But Blossom has to be a westside staple. The bowl is incredibly well seasoned and very flavorful. I got the Doc Biet and was We went with the egg rolls as well and they were quite good. The long communal table is a unique touch and I like how it separates itself from other Pho joints in town. We split the bill with another couple but somehow it was $160 for four people. Not sure how it equated to that much but if I go again I'm hoping the slice that number a bit. All things considering, Blossom is deserving of your time and palette and I hope to go back again.

Yelp
We had to sit outdoors on a colddd night, but the heat lamps were actually sufficient and it felt nice! The ambiance and aesthetics were great, but the food is way overpriced for what it is. I ordered the combination beef pho, and my stomach was uncomfortable by the end of it due to all the untrimmed beef fat found on the beef, which made my soup so oily. My boyfriend ordered the chicken pho and said it was fine, but he finished it before I could steal a bite because the servings were very small - from the plate of bean sprouts to the fatty beef. All for $18/ bowl? Unfortunately two small bowls of pho should not add up to $40, no drinks or appetizers. The service was friendly, though everyone working there seemed new and stressed. The search for good pho in west LA continues...

Yelp
Found a piece of plastic/metal wrapper used for closing plastic bags in my spring rolls. This was my 3rd time eating here and the food was fine, but finding this piece of metal in my food was not a great experience. Leaving 2 stars for good service but food quality needs to be checked more closely. I don't know how you can miss a shiny piece of plastic/metal when making spring rolls. Makes me wonder if they wash their ingredients properly.

Yelp
Such delicious broth! I'm not a huge pho fan but this one was excellent. The spring roll starter with beef was pretty good, the beef was a little tough. The table inside is one big communal tables, but we sat outside at the small tables. There are heaters out there too.
google avatar

J S.

Yelp
Cute little restaurant with attentive service. Inside seats are along a long community table. Outside tables available but in direct sunlight. Food was delicious.

Yelp
We live close by and love coming here. I get the rare steak pho. For the best experience, you must dine-in! Takeout is ok too, but it is not as hot dine in, and seems fresher when you eat it at a table straight from the kitchen. We love this place! We've never had any issues sitting at the long table inside. Their outdoor seating is pleasant as well.

Yelp
This review is for their coffee shop. I do love the concept of having a coffee bar in the mornings, and a restaurant in the afternoons and evenings. Haven't tried their food, so this is a purely a coffee review. Decent cold brew. Got the job done. Same thing with the Vietnamese coffee. Both are a bit overpriced. You can find premiere coffee drinks for the same price elsewhere in Santa Monica. But I did get warm, helpful, and patient service from the barista. And the spot has a cozy, blossoming, hip vibe.

Yelp
I ordered the combination pho and it was decent, it I've had better. The broth itself was oilier than other pho places and less flavorful. It felt like the broth hadn't simmered long enough or with enough herbs and bones to create the depth of flavor that pho usually has. The service was decent, especially considering that we did not arrive until about 35 minutes before closing! The host told us to seat ourselves and then server came by immediately with some water. We were able to quickly order and the food came out very fast (we ordered pho only - they were out of egg noodles for the day) The ambiance was decent (some noise but not excessive) on a Thursday night. Definitely a good place for a quick bite and maybe a drink. The interior table is one long table and the exterior has some park bench style seating if you would prefer to sit with only your party! Overall, I might return to try the egg noodles, but I prefer their cafe next door (with the banh mi) over the actual noodle shop.

Yelp
I was staying a few blocks away at a hotel (in town for work) and I ordered takeout. I went straightaway to the restaurant because I wasn't quite sure the order went through. This is less than a 5 min drive. I ordered Pho with steak and Spring rolls. When I arrived and a very nice man greeted me. My order was ready. I returned to my hotel and unpackaged my meal. I poured my broth in my bowl from its individual container and then I put in the steak in and waited for a bit and realized that the meat wasn't "cooking". I put my finger in the broth and it was barely warm. I hadn't noticed when I took it out of the bag but regardless it was too late; I was at my hotel room without a microwave. My broth was now a bloody pink and the broth was so cool the noodles weren't easily separating. I can honestly say this is in my top 3 worst meal experiences I've had, and a COMPLETE WASTE of $35. Yup $35 for two items and a tip. I should get a refund but honestly this should never happen. If they can't provide hot broth to cook the rare meat then they need to provide already cooked meat/steak. And if I'm suppose to cook or warm up my meal then it's not takeout! It's Take and Bake or in this case heat up on a stovetop, or a microwave.

Yelp
Authentic? No. Overpriced? Yes. Beautiful decor and chic hand soap. Food is prepared and presented with great care. If you come here with a mindset of eating the Vietnamese food you ate in Vietnam, you'll be disappointed. But if you come here to experience a Vietnamese-inspired meal, you'll get a decent meal for yourself.

Yelp
I was referred to come here by my neighbor. It's one of their favorite places! I was craving pho, a very odd craving of hot soup during a massive heatwave. What's wrong with this picture? Lol! The owner was so lovely and the vibe was so warm and cozy! Lovely place to hang. You step in to green plants surrounding you, cleanliness and you can feel the energy and love put into this place. The Pho was so delicious and fresh. I will be back!

Yelp
Terrible service, overpriced mediocre food. A mandatory 18% service charge is the biggest joke. Went in at 2:05 today and the waitress stopped me at the door - no greeting whatsoever, slapped the menu in my hand, and said "you need to order right now. The kitchen is closing soon" TWICE before I even could look at the menu. If the kitchen needs to close at 2:15, update your schedules posted online and train your staff better on how to provide decent service! A mandatory service charge isn't gonna solve your problem. It only drives customers away when the service is nonexistent. It's been a while since my last visit but totally reminded me why I stopped going. The last time I went with my family, the waitresses were so rude that we got up and left before finished ordering. I used to really like this place as it WAS one of the cleanest Vietnamese restaurants I had been to. Today it didn't even look that clean. Things are getting old and greasy. The service was so bad on the two visits after covid. Will not go back again

Sophie P.

Yelp
I really like this place! It's a little different than average traditional pho but in the best way. I like the ambiance and music. Staff is friendly! Went twice in one week!!

Yelp
Blossom checks all the boxes. The food is always good as is the service and I like the picnic tables out front. I've been there many times and it never disappoints.

E J.

Yelp
1 star because food was good. But service was terrible, there was only two other people there and we weren't greeted, took a while for someone to notice us and took forever to get our check. No one checked on us the entire time we were there (only two of us) On top of that, you have the employee stand over you while you pay, making tipping uncomfortable.. unaware that they charge an automatic %18 tip, due to not getting a paper check.. I payed an additional 20%tip (even when service was shitty). Never again will I come to this place or recommend to anyone. Clearly costumer service is non existent here because they have automatic tips included

Yelp
- Gluttony Expedition - Oxtail pho: TRY! It's god damn good. Bold and great broth. Hard to find this type of good pho in LA. Try! Seafood pho: good but not as good ad oxtail one. - Conqueror's Deduction - Weird wine selections, but great oxtail pho. You got to try it!

Yelp
Love love love this place. Fantastic pho! Very authentic, clean, and flavorful. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Ann Nicole A.

Yelp
It was an okay spot, but I have had better. I had a vermicelli with shrimp, lemongrass steak, and imperial roll. The steak was good. The imperial roll's skin was hard. The shrimp was ok. They did put a good amount of noodles, but I wish they added more vegetables. You can also pay using the table's QR code which was convenient. It can be busy during lunch time but service was fast. Parking can be a little difficult since its only street parking.
google avatar

Yelp
5/5 for presentation and the small outdoor seating is great. At first I thought the broth was a little bland compared to other pho, but then a server named Lucas came to the rescue and exemplified the best customer service one could ask for. He brought out salt, pepper, hot sauce and their special garlic sauce. Super kind and helpful. This all happened in the last 30-45 min before they closed too - well done, Lucas (and Blossom)

Meagan D.

Yelp
I eat at or order take out from Blossom several times a month. This is a great neighborhood spot with friendly service. Their dining room is trendy and cute, perfect for getting together. I also really love their outdoor dining situation-- they have some plants and heaters to make it nice! Their food quality is consistent and delicious. I stick with the Pho Gha, which is always light and fresh, yet filling. My friends all say the Pho Tai and the Pho Chay are amazing. Would recommend!
google avatar

Reggie B.

Yelp
Chill vibe, pleasant staff but the service was lackadaisical, we had to repeatedly ask for menus and nobody checked with us after food was served. Delicious, delicate pho broth but the dish was smaller than I expected and was served with a small amount of sprouts and basil. We had to ask for the check after we were done eating for 20 minutes. We were surprised to find that 18% gratuity is automatically included which is probably why they didn't care much about service.
google avatar

James Paul V.

Yelp
While the food isn't going to necessarily blow you away, it was above average. The service was great! Super attentive and the food came out quickly. The ambiance is very chill and laid-back. Nothing fancy. It gets the job done. Will likely return.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. I had always wanted to try Blossom in my 5 years of living in LA but never got around to it, until today, when we discovered Pho 87 was closed for emergency reasons. We headed over to Blossom since it was close by and were excited because it was situated such a great part of the Chinatown plaza. Our server was kind, and this is in no way a knock at his hospitality, but the restaurant was painfully short staffed. When the food was delivered, we had to wait around 18 minutes for our pho sides (lime, mint, garnishes) and chilli oil, which is a long time considering you want to eat this soup fast before the heat escapes. The meat in my bowl was minuscule, with one sad little piece of tendon. I have to say it wasn't as flavorful as other restaurants. I don't think pho is one of Blossom's strong suites so if I were to ever come back it would be to try something else. Pro's: -Great breeze from the huge, open windows -Gorgeous setting to be at -Friendly server Con's: -Long waits, be prepared to wait a long time if you request for side dishes and garnishes -Not the best pho in Chinatown -The chilli oil/paste is definitely sub par, they do not have satay-like chilli oil here

Yelp
Came here for dinner with a group of guys on a Wednesday night.....and this place is delicious everything from the fried spring roll to the wet, shrimp wrap, and the egg omelette thing....But my delicious oxtail Pho was absolutely delicious!!!!.....service was attentive and professional, and lots of smile....And the place was clean and it was busy and the food came out and we enjoyed every single bite so if you're in the area and you want some delicious Vietnamese, this is the spot.....definitely give it a try and thank you and keep up the great work... will be back!
google avatar

Lucas L.

Yelp
My 10 friends and I came here after church and the service was great, food was phenomenal and it was nice easy to pay separately. Definitely coming back again at some point.
google avatar

Analis D.

Yelp
Nothing greatly wrong just disappointed on paying just over $35 bucks for blan vegi pho & egg rolls. Custom service was odd as well. I walked in. The employees were walking past me multiple times while I waited in the doorway awkwardly without recognition that I was there untill 5 minutes. Like at least say hello make eye contact and smile.
google avatar

Yelp
I came to Blossom after my husband's friend recommended it as a good Vietnamese restaurant on the west side. My friend and I came here on a Monday evening around 5:30pm. We were seated at an outdoor table immediately. Our waitress checked on us several times to see if we were ready to order, but we took a little while. I ordered the vegetarian pho, which was served within 20 minutes of ordering. My friend got the chicken pho, which she said was overly salty. The broth for the vegetarian pho was strangely sweet. A lot of vegetarian pho that I have tried usually has a bland broth, and although this one wasn't bland, I can't say that it was good either. The service was okay. When we'd finished eating, they asked us to leave as they had other people waiting for a table, so it's definitely not the kind of place where you can eat and linger. Would not come back here based on this experience.
google avatar

Tiffany C.

Yelp
My friends and i grew up eating pho in westminster and SGV so we know good pho. I found this cute lil pho shop with a lot of outdoor benches next to my boyfriends barber. We didn't realize they were closing in 15 min when we ordered, they didn't rush us or tell us they were closing soon, so i thought that was really nice of them. For a pho shop in santa monica it was decent. Not the best but has some potential to be better. Their pho was really oily and salty. I think if they trimmed the fat while the broth is cold it'll be a lot better. Their Vietnamese coffee and black iced coffee was off in flavor, something was definitely missing.

Yelp
This is our favorite restaurant!! The servers are super awesome and nice, Isaiah and Mars are always kind and accommodating. Food comes out super fast and is always delicious! I would give it 10 stars if I could!! Love this place! My favorite dish is the rare steak pho.
google avatar

James A.

Yelp
What a fabulous restaurant! The food was presented so beautifully and all tasted amazing! We had the egg rolls and even tried the vegan egg rolls as well which were delicious. The spring rolls were yummy and the Pho was delicious! The inside wasn't open when we went but they had tables outside which was set up nicely. Parking can be a bit tricky but the food is worth the walk back to the car!
google avatar

Doreen M.

Yelp
I got 3 types of fresh spring rolls delivered to me via Postmates. I ate at the original location in Silverlake many years ago and they had the BEST fresh spring rolls because the meat was so flavorful and marinated. I need to actually eat here tho and eat more spring rolls and pho.
google avatar

Aaliyah P.

Yelp
Wow I absolutely adore this spot. It's a little hidden gem. They have really delicious pho and shrimp spring rolls I've come here about three times and I have not been disappointed. I usually get the chicken pho and it always hits the spot. Their portions are big and filling! They have really delicious tea that pairs well too! The owner is super welcoming and sweet to the customers which is always nice to see. Highly recommend this spot.
google avatar

Yvonne C.

Yelp
It's cute on the outside but not sure why else anyone would come here. The broth is tasteless, it's missing the pho noodle soup UMPH in there if you know what I mean. It's overpriced Americanized pho noodles. I wanted bun rieu but they were out of it which was a huge bummer for me. Also got a coconut to drink. Can't go wrong with that!
google avatar

Nick N.

Yelp
So much food; I was so stuffed. A very solid pho, I've gotta say. The vibe was nice and the waiter was kind. I think at 17.50 for a bowl, it was s as but pricey for pho but good nonetheless.
google avatar

Julie L.

Yelp
The good: I think they have one of the better broth in the westside for pho The bad: it is on the pricier side for pho, but it feels clean and is nice. Try: their pho! It does hit the spot when you are craving it.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Delicious. Every time. I adore the owner of this place and the food is just delicious. Simple menu, easy to navigate, always consistent. My go to for casual dinner or a healthy lunch when I need a pick me up!
google avatar

Shirley W.

Yelp
Blossom is a small boutique pho bar. It serves wine. I've never paired wine with Vietnamese food, TBH. Out of pure curiosity, I order a glass of chardonnay with chicken noodle. Unfortunately, the server completely forgot about my wine. So I still have not had wine with pho. The bowls they use are wooden deep bowls, a bit unusual for noodles. The soup is yummy and lighter than your average expected. Hot soups on a cold day-- heavenly!
google avatar

Jennifer P.

Yelp
Over priced tasteless pho lol. Not worth the $63 for two bowls of pho tai (rare steak), 4 egg rolls, and a coffee. There's an auto 18% surcharge for the service. The ambiance is cute but I rather not spend $63 on so little and for pho!! $63 is like the price of two kazanori sushi's! The best thing we ate here was the egg rolls 10/10. The pho broth was missing that satisfying taste... I think they need to bowl the broth more or add more absent, not sure.. or add more fish sauce. I barely finished the broth, I just ate the noodles and meat. The meat was good though. Plenty of parking around the streets. I would not come here. The pho didn't really hit the spot to help with my hangover. I wish I ordered somewhere else instead
google avatar

Arie K.

Yelp
Overpriced and underwhelming food and service, but I guess that's what you get when you're desperate for some Vietnamese food on the west side. For value though, I'm more inclined to recommend Mama Hong's (even though their food/flavor has declined in the past few years as well). Maybe just make the trek down to the South Bay for some better Viet food...
google avatar

Janet H.

Yelp
I placed an order for 3 items and gave my credit card details. Then I called the restaurant to pick up the items and they had no record of the transaction and do not get orders from Yelp. I am not sure whether I was still charged or not.
google avatar

Sharna H.

Yelp
Do not order here. Ordered on postmates coffee was half empty cup and half empty cups of sauce for my food. Postmates refunded me with a credit. I also found a hair in my food. Gross.

Curtis M.

Yelp
Waaay over priced for mediocre pho. No servers, the one person working is over worked. Everything is done through an app, which is fine. But automatically including 18% tip + service fee, when there is literally zero service is insane to me. $28 for a small chicken pho and soda lemonade...then had the nerve to ask for additional tip?! Gtfo.
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
I love this place, I think they have one of the best pho broth, I always order a lots

James K.

Yelp
Dear fellow west angelenos. This is semi-real pho. The broth is the strangest saltiest tasting broth I've ever had. This is like some weird Vietnamese styled broth trying to accommodate local palettes maybe? I've had more satisfying meals eating instant noodles. West LA Asian food is terrible.

K L.

Yelp
Have eaten here in the past and enjoyed the food but tonight we were incredibly disappointed by the service. I have never been rushed out of a restaurant - honestly it was rude and uncomfortable. We were seated at 8p, no one came to take our order until 830p, we were served our food quickly by 845p, but by 910p (10 minutes after the kitchen closed) we had multiple servers pushing us to leave repeatedly and brought the bill despite the fact we were still eating. We very much empathize with employees getting home on time, but this was odd and unpleasant for a $35+ per person meal. We were told, for a party of 4, that an 18% gratuity was automatically added, and yet the credit card machine still asked me to select additional gratuity, despite not making this clear. Several other service mishaps, items out of stock, did not bring water and appropriate silverware despite asking multiple times. Small portions for high prices. Unfortunately although we live in the neighborhood, we will not be returning.
