What the hecky heck???? How have I not reviewed this joint??? This is me and The Queen's go to place when we want ramen but don't want to drive anywhere and get it. For a place that does delivery, Blowfish does a pretty good jog of getting your food to you while it is sill hot and that is a plus for me.
They have the usual appetizers. We always get the Gyoza (pan-fried beef dumplings topped with sweet & sour sauce, and scallions), Shrimp Shumai (steamed dumplings topped with sweet & sour sauce, and scallions) and Pork Buns (Holland pork belly with sunomono salad in steamed buns). All are good, but pretty standard fare.
Where Blowfish excels is in the ramen. I love their Classic Ramen with the "Tonkotsu" (pork) soup noodle topped with Holland pork chashu. I usually will request extra noodles and pork, or sometimes brisket added to it. This will create enough of a meal to cover two days. I love their Tonkotsu broth, it is as they describe, silky but I am going to throw in smooth as well.
The Queen goes for the Beef Brisket Ramen because she loves brisket and spicy stuff. I don't mess with this one because of the chili peppers, but if you like it on the spicy side, this one is for you.
The Doctor and The Queen are fans of the Salmon Sunrise Bowl (Fresh salmon, smoked salmon, edamame, avocado, scallions, shitake, mango, pickled cucumber, sesame seeds topped with shallots, creamy yuzu mayo, sweet soy sauce, wasabi ponzu, shallots, and tobiko). The Doctor says that is very fresh in flavor and he usually cleans his bowl when he orders this.
California rolls were good, but by the time you get ramen and appetizers, you ain't got no room for them. We just might have to do a ramen free night in order to try out some of the rolls. For now, the ramen is it for us.
