Bludso’s Review - Fairfax - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Let’s face it cowboys, this town ain’t ever gonna be a barbecue town. But that’s OK because, believe it or not, we actually still have some damn good barbecue. From Venice Beach to Van Nuys, Los Angeles’s local BBQ joints are still kicking out quality meals. For years, Kevin Bludso had been selling what many consider to be the best BBQ in SoCal out of a glorified window in central Compton (RIP). But in 2013, he decided to bring the magic North to some shiny new digs at La Brea and Melrose. Teaming up with the Golden State crew, Bludso created an easy, flexible space perfect for anything from a casual first date to a good ol’ fashioned drunken birthday bash. If you order right, for about $18 you can have enough glistening brisket, pork ribs and potato salad for your entire apartment complex. And in our books, that makes you the most popular person in town. The menu is set up in a way that allows you to order several different things and that’s definitely by design. Because although the brisket is the unspoken favorite, you can’t go wrong with whatever is put down in front of you. Sure, Bludso’s got a big Hollywood makeover but luckily, it didn’t change it. At the end of the day, it’s still about what’s important: that sweet, sweet tray of BBQ. Food Rundown Brisket Bludso’s signature meat and it’s for a reason. Charred to perfection, this is the type of thing you wake up in the middle of the night shaking for because you want it so bad. Pork Ribs If brisket is king, pork ribs are the queen with more power. If you get to Bludso’s too late in the day, chances are they will already be sold out. We personally ate them all. Pulled Pork Some other places around town claim to be pulled pork champions, but Bludso’s is still worthy of a side order. Hot Link The poor sausage always gets the sht end of the stick at any BBQ but we encourage you go for it. It’s got that perfect crunch and kick of heat right at the end. Mac and Cheese One of the more surprising revelations about this city is our obsession with mac and cheese. And who’s to blame us? It’s one of the world’s great foods. Add Bludso’s to the list of must-trys. Gooey, cheesy, homemade goodness. Collard Greens YOU GOTTA GET YO VEGETABLES GIRL Cornbread With the Rocky Mountains of meat sitting in front of you, you’re gonna need some carbs to change it up a bit, and their cornbread is everything you want. Potato Salad Sweet Lord in Mayonnaise Heaven. This is the good stuff right here. Don’t be ashamed to order two. Peach Cobbler Listen, you aren’t gonna be able to even see straight by the time desserts get brought up, but power through and get this Southern delicacy. You can nap after." - Brant Cox

It's take out only credit card only. Very clean. Texas style BBQ. I've been there a lot and had almost everything on the menu. My wife's favorite thing is the smoked chicken salad. It's enough for 2. Get dressing on side so lettuce doesn't wilt by time you get home. I agree with my wife. The ribs, rib tips and brisket are solid. I prefer thevfatty rather than lean brisket. The pulled pork, smoked turkey, pulled chicken and brisket sandwiches are very tasty. Get sauce and coleslaw on the side so the bun won't soggy before your ready to eat the sandwiches. Parking us really street only because lot fits 1 car. Can be tough.

This plate is as a thin as paper sheet... completely disappointed on the portion of meat I got to pay almost $40 dollars. The brisket had lots of far, almost no meat and the pulled pork was completely dry. And I didn't find service to be very friendly. For being my first time, I am completely disappointed for what I feel waste my money on a few pieces of meat. 👎

Delivery My girlfriend and I had an UberEats order, our primary dish was the 2 meats 2 sided plate to share. When the order arrived, we got 2 meats and 0 sides. We called the restaurant, were told we could come pick up the remainder of the order if we wanted to. No apology, you would hope for more after paying extra to get the food delivered. To the credit, what food did arrive was actually pretty good. Good enough that I’d want to go back, but th

I really hate to write bad reviews but there is absolutely no excuse to serve undercooked almost raw bloody chicken! My husband ordered dinner through ubereats last night and when he bit the chicken he was red!! So disgusting. Since the restaurant was already closed we reached out to ubereats which of course only refunded the chicken. What person is who received undercooked chicken would eat anything else they ordered from that restaurant smh! So disappointed and disgusted to say the least!

Food was good and well packaged. Its just a hole in the wall takeout counter so there really isn't much atmosphere or service but the employees were nice and the 6ft by 6ft indoor square for customers was clean. There is no sit down seating. They have a $45 whole chicken with sides deal but my favorite item was the lean brisket.

The brisket is the absolute best I have ever had in my 69 years. It's is tender and packed with flavor in every bite. The only way I can describe their food is AMAZING!!! Everything on the menu will astound you. Nobody does it better. Kudos to this fantastic restaurant. The only thing you need is more parking!!!

I ordered some BBQ to pick- up tonight. It was around 9pm, I called in my order. I specifically asked to get fresh food; no old servings. When I made it home to eat my food; the dinosaur rib was so tough. It was a challenge to chew. My mac and cheese was burnt, I meant to the point where it was indigestible. Also, my collard greens were just steams. The food was horrible. I wouldn't ever eat there again; or recommend people to eat at that location.

I recently visited Bludso’s BBQ, and unfortunately, my experience was not up to par. Starting with the mac and cheese, it was quite disappointing. After letting it sit for a bit, it turned greasy and lost its appeal. The collard greens weren’t terrible, but they lacked flavor and seasoning. The meat portions were quite small, which might not bother some, but what really stood out was the lack of flavor in the dishes. The brisket, in particular, caused some digestive discomfort, which was quite off-putting. Overall, while the customer service was commendable, the food did not meet my expectations for the price.
