California’s Blue Bottle Coffee Arrives in Cambridge This Weekend - Eater Boston

"Blue Bottle Coffee, a well-known third-wave coffee company originally from California and now partly owned by Nestle, is opening a new location in Harvard Square, Cambridge on February 3, 2018. This is the first of several planned locations in the Boston area. The Cambridge cafe will source its beans from Blue Bottle's roasting facility in Bushwick, New York, and offer a beverage menu of standard coffees, espresso, cold brew, and New Orleans-style iced coffee. Patrons can also enjoy pastries, toasts, and liege-style waffles. The cafe will eventually offer coffee classes on brewing techniques and different coffee varieties. A community day with non-profit partner Artists For Humanity is scheduled ahead of the opening, supporting youth creative employment opportunities." - Dana Hatic

I was walking around the university when I noticed this cafe. Randomly I went in and ordered their special sweet Cafe Latte. To my surprize, this was one of the best Latte I ever had! The proportion of sugar and milk was absolutely perfect. Unknowingly I found a gem and next time when I will be around Harvard, the coffee is surely gonna be their's!!! Would give them full marks for the taste!

Google
I really want to like this place but every time I give it another shot it’s just meh. I could kinda get into the minimalist look of it all if the drinks and food were above average but for me it’s not the case. The Blondie I ordered was solid as a rock!

Google
Cafe Latte L with extra shot(9.9$) It was my first time trying blue bottle coffee and I didn’t rly like it… I don’t feel like it’s high quality coffee and regarding the price, it wasn’t satisfying 💀 Service was not bad, and the mood is clean and good. Suitable for studying

Google
Got a hot matcha latte because I’ve been more into ceremonial grade matcha. This matcha was delicious. I wish I didn’t get Oat milk so I could taste more of the matcha flavor but besides that I really enjoy stopping by this Blue Bottle location whenever I’m in Boston.

Google
It's a shame that they have a nice location and presumably good coffee and deserts but they are unable to make people enjoy it. I hope it was just my experience but, when I got there, the place was basically empty and I ordered a flat white and a blueberry cake. They gave me the coffee in a paper cup and the blueberry in a paper bag, even when they had real cups and plates available and no one was waiting. I didn't ask it to go. I sat at a table and couldn't enjoy the coffee not only because of that but also due to the fact that the two baristas had a very unfriendly attitude and didn't even respond when I said goodbye. I hope I have another chance to go there again and have a good experience so I can update this review. Hopefully I'm an exception and most people enjoy their time there.

Google
There are stairs to enter blue bottle coffee. It was only slightly difficult to find given construction nearby. There are a few tables for sitting with a mix of people trying to work and enjoying weekend coffee. I liked the latte with whole milk a lot. Blue Bottle Coffee might be the most expensive coffee shop near Harvard Square but I’d definitely recommend it for an occasional treat or for coming with another friend.

Google
The environment is pretty pleasant. I ordered with both the waffle and cardamom coffee. Highly recommend the combination I ordered 😉 Only downside is there are no power outlets. Bring your computer FULLY charged if you intend to hang around for a little while.

Google
Very good coffee and matcha - I am a regular latte consumer - the only problem is the absence of mugs for the large size! Very busy place in general this location - crazy at the weekends in my experience.

Yelp
Coffee was great. Staff was great. Food is sub par however so hopefully they can work on that. I will be back!

Yelp
I a fan of BB coffees and their brewing process. However, this location is extremely loud unless you are the only person in the shop. They are normally a minimalist decor, but this is a smaller venue with about six tables and bar stool options. Note, this is a more expensive than other shops but excellent coffee. My ears felt relief taking my coffee to go. No outdoor seating and the closest is the River Bend Park (NO shade) or head back to the Harvard campuses.

Yelp
This coffee is good but it's definitely a once in a while treat. I paid $7 for a cappuccino with cows milk. It was a great coffee but I feel like I can get the same at another coffee shop for $4. Maybe I would come here as a treat and get their speciality drink instead and stick to my local favourites for every day coffee

Yelp
This is a bit of an outdated review, as I visited this Blue Bottle Co. in October 2023, but this is a nice coffee shop in the Harvard Square area. Great for a date spot, a quick pick me up, or to get some work done. I really enjoyed their egg bites for a small breakfast, as well as sitting by the window bar. Great place!

Yelp
First I have to start off that I love Blue Bottle and highly recommend their coffee to everyone! My go to drink is the New Orleans iced coffee and I also am a big fan of their matcha. The Blue Bottle locations tend to be pretty aesthetically pleasing on the inside, pretty minimalist and bright. This location has a decent amount of indoor seating as well compared to some of the other locations so if you're lucky, you might be able to snag a table and enjoy your coffee or pastry while you watch. The cost of their coffee can sometimes feel a bit expensive, but it is really delicious and well-made. At least most of the time... My recent experience here wasn't my best I've had at a Blue Bottke. I have always tried their seasonal drinks and most of the time they're pretty good, as a nice twist on their most popular drink like the iced Nola and classic latte. However, the most recent seasonal drinks are not it! I tried the saffron vanilla Nola, and it was one of the worst drinks I've ever had. I'm not sure if it could've been just the drink or potentially that it was made wrong, but it was a bit of a tragedy. I was so excited to try it after hearing that it was a new drink, but it had such an unpleasant flavor profile...like I was drinking vanilla extract straight out of the bottle. It overpowered any taste of coffee and left me feeling nauseous after a few sips. Sadly, I was off to a meeting and didn't have time to taste it before I had to leave so I couldn't go back and ask for something else. So I was out $8 and had to go to my meeting coffee-less, which was unfortunate. I will be back at a blue bottle sometime soon, but definitely will not ever have the saffron vanilla drinks again...

Yelp
Firstly, it's blue bottle, so the coffee is perfect. Secondly the cardamom latte is the best coffee drink period. It's sooo premium it makes up for the UNFORTUNATELY OBSCENE price and dry, tasteless baked goods like the scone pictured here. More importantly, ask for Zach--mans is a GOOD man. First time I gave my GOVERNMENT name in a coffee place. Shoutout to the hospitality. GET THIS MAN A RAISE! (Maybe also reconsider dropping the price in this latte and hiring a chef to improve the baked goods)

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick drink at this bustling local cafe - I ordered an iced matcha latte. As a big matcha enthusiast, I was extremely disappointed by my drink, which honestly felt like I was just sipping on a glass of iced milk the whole time. Matcha flavour was weak and at times imperceptible, and for the (quite expensive) price I really expected a drink of much better quality. As a disclaimer I don't drink coffee (and indeed did not try their coffee) so I can't speak to any of their coffees, but it does seem like those are much more popular here.

Yelp
What an adorable little cafe I never knew existed! I was able to find prime parking yesterday which rarely happens in Harvard Square so I stopped here on a whim. You know it's a good place when it's packed at 10am on a Tuesday. My friend and I both tried their Black Cardamom Latte with oat milk and while yes, it was probably the most expensive little latte I've tried - I believe you get what you pay for and it was amazing. Not only was the beverage beautiful but the flavors were intense without being overpowering. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Can't wait to go back and try some of their pastries.
google avatar

Neha D.

Yelp
Nice bright spot to get some work done. It's nice that the default milk option is oat. Wish the drinks weren't so pricey but like the matcha lattes as they're not as sweet as other places make them.

Yelp
This is a lovely blue bottle for studying. I am someone who often needs to motivate myself to study with a little treat, and this Blue Bottle is the perfect place to do so. The large windows that look out onto Mount Auburn street provide lovely natural lighting which--on sunny days in the depth of winter--is an absolute game changer. The iced nola is my go to--although sometimes I will really treat myself with their mocha which is one the best I've ever had. The barsitas are warm and friendly! Yes--the coffee is $6-7, but this Blue Bottle is a place where I can really lock in and get work done in a lovely atmosphere, so I would argue that its worth it. They have free wifi that works well, the only downside is that they do not have any outlets. Additionally, watch out on rainy days because it gets quite busy and is often hard to find a table.
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
Glad to have this Blue Bottle location open again. Spacious, clean, excellent knowledgeable baristas. Best of all one of the best coffee in town. Not a local roaster but they have great supply chain that maintain quality of their whole bean options.

Yelp
Today is my first time back at this BB location during pandemic times. It's been a while! The space is still bright and airy, despite nearby construction. They have some tables along one wall and counter spots with low wooden stools along the other. It was pretty crowded when I arrived after lunchtime, but it was still easy to snag a seat for 1. Groups would find a tougher time. I bit the bullet (and my wallet) and ordered the fall special, a black cardamom latte with oat milk. I love love love cardamom, and the drink is fragrant and warming with freshly ground black cardamom on top (aka where the cardamom comes in; the espresso itself is their own blend plus some orange blossom, according to their site). Cardamom and coffee bring out the best in each each other! (Fun fact: This is why a dirty chai tastes so good: the additional espresso shot brings out the cardamom in the chai tea.) I wish this drink weren't so darn expensive ($8!! Inflation plus BB pricing) -- but at least oat milk doesn't have a surcharge as a vegan/non-dairy option. (The almond milk does, though.) There's free wifi (requires an email address), and it seems a decent place for a stint of work, given the large windows and the number of laptops. Not sure if there are outlets, though, so make sure you're charged up.

Yelp
Food: Omg I cannot believe I paid almost $6 for that disgusting, super dry chive scone. I was hungry + just paid $6 so I ate it but DO NOT GET. That thing is so dry, and flavorless and crumbly. The liege waffle was good though (but nothing special), and the Hojicha was also delicious and refreshing (I love Hojicha) but NOT worth $6. Service: Lol not impressed. The barista staff were unfriendly, barely smiled and pretty condescending. Wasn't a fan, overall I wouldn't come back for overpriced coffee and pastries when Harvard Sq has so many other yummy places. Also their tables were dirty haha. Would not come back.

Yelp
Decided to stop by this morning to grab a iced match latte with oat milk. Delicious drink, also love that they use paper straws and cups. The cafe is really nice (with minimalist decor) and well-lit. There is a decent amount of seating and good wifi, so it's a great place to study. It's not too crowded or busy on a Friday morning, would recommend checking out!
google avatar

Andres D.

Yelp
I think this place is pretty severely overrated. It's a very pricey coffee shop with no real stand out features. As far as I can tell there are no specialty drinks or unique items here. Maybe the coffee is of such a high quality I can't even tell, but that's not a very encouraging sign in my opinion. Everything else is basically equivalent to what you could get at any other coffee shop, just more expensive. The ambiance isn't even particularly nice in my opinion, just a drab white aesthetic that doesn't really feel cozy at all. I'd recommend basically anyone go someplace else.
google avatar

Dennis G.

Yelp
Great place to catch a drink and enjoy the Harvard campus. Coffee is great and the staff have their drinks down to a tee!
google avatar

M K.

Yelp
This location makes a solid Cortado. The Harvard Square Blue Bottle is in a somewhat tucked away spot. Mostly locals and students from what I can tell. That said, there aren't crazy lines like some of the other nearby coffee places. It is located on the corner of Bow and Mt Auburn.
google avatar

Alma C.

Yelp
minimalistic, sheek, friendly baristas, and a good cappuccino. Would've like it a few degrees hotter. Crowded for a reason. Neat location
google avatar

Christine J.

Yelp
Love Blue Bottle Coffee and this new location! It's sort of hidden away from the main Sq but still close enough. Even with the hidden location, there's hardly ever empty seats when I go, all the students take over and nest there for hours... Still the best tasting lattes out there, and a simplistic/open space albeit not a big cafe. Welcome to Harvard Sq!
google avatar

Yelp
Divine every time. Almond croissant is a must have. Live the design of the interior. Simple crisp and clean. Coffee hits the spot every time.

Yelp
Blue Bottle Coffee is every hipster's dream come true. This trendy chain, a fairly recent transplant to Boston by way of California, takes the coffee shop experience to the next level with richly flavored java and cold brews, unique pastry selections, and a calm vibe that will have you longing for the beach soon after sitting down. As a recent discoverer of cold brew, I found (as other Yelpers have mentioned) that their cold brew is just the right happy medium between strong and too much. I have also had their peppermint iced tea, which is refreshing, but at $4 for a rather small portion, I'd go with the cold brew over that. Granted, it's Harvard Square, so you can expect to pay a pretty penny no matter where you go for a caffeine fix, and Blue Bottle sure beats Starbucks by a mile! Speaking of above-your-average-coffeehouse elements, the baked goods are awesome here. They've got everything from tahini chocolate brownies (a Middle Eastern twist that gives a much needed lift to the humble chocolate dessert), to large and satisfying ginger cookies. If you're in the mood for something savory, they also have a decent avocado toast (is my basic millennial showing?) The baristas are super friendly here! I actually think that customer service wise, this is the best cafe in Harvard Square. They're always smiling, cheerful, and ready to take your order with minimal brooding and sarcasm. Gotta love that! Pro tip: help yourself to a complimentary Blue Bottle Coffee pin next to the register while you wait for your coffee! That way, you can show off to everyone that you know where the best coffee in Cambridge is!
google avatar

Richa T.

Yelp
Gotta love blue bottle coffee! Pros: + Incredible selection of beans + Plenty of pour overs + Perfectly made cold brew + Exotic dessert options - tahini brownies anyone? Cons: - No wifi - A bit pricer than most other coffee shops, but worth the splurge
google avatar

Bruce K.

Yelp
A good spot to hit for a meeting over coffee or some laptop time with headphones, but you're not going to do well with any sort of phone call here. There's some music and one of the baristas seems to like to whistle. But the coffee? I got a single source espresso and it was very good. Bold, rich and gone too soon. Made to order and served in a proper ceramic cup with an actual saucer and spoon plus a small cup of seltzer, it was the coffee I needed to get my day started. [Review 10114 overall, 1700 of 2018.]
google avatar

Allie P.

Yelp
I love the vibe and coffee here but there are no power outlets! I set out to get some writing done this morning and had to get my coffee to-go since my laptop was dead. Such a bummer!
google avatar

Katherine H.

Yelp
This is a nice coffee shop with a clean aesthetic and decently good drinks. I got a 12oz matcha latte for $5, which wasn't particularly good or bad. If you love natural light, however, this is your place! Compared to other coffee shops in the area, Blue Bottle has one of the nicer atmospheres. My biggest issue with Blue Bottle is their lack of outlets, it's hard to stay here and work if that's what you're looking for. It's almost always busy, and difficult to find a table (there aren't many to begin with) -- if you need quiet to work, don't come here (it's also difficult to have conversation with the noise). The atmosphere is high energy (music included), but also feels tense and rushed with people borrowing chairs and rushing to get seats. An alright coffee shop! Might come back.
google avatar

Stephanie Q.

Yelp
This is a small blue bottle location with limited seating, it is close to Harvard. A lot of people come with their laptops, so you know they are gonna be seating here for long. Therefore, I recommend getting your drinks to go. The coffee and tea here are pricey, but they are both excellent.
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
Clean, high-energy, great aesthetic, and with yummy coffee and pastries! Blue Bottle is awesome. Over the past few weeks, Blue Bottle has been the coffee shop that I've made the most stops at, and I don't regret it! Although my wallet probably does... but what can you expect from a coffee shop? I usually get the New Orleans Iced Coffee, but I also recommend the cappuccino and the chocolate chip cookies. If you're looking to get work done at a coffee shop, this probably isn't the one. As I mentioned earlier, it's a high-energy place with lots of conversation, meaning that it's generally not quiet. It's almost always packed with people, so if you're looking for seating, you won't have the best luck here. Luckily for some, traffic slows down after 5pm or so! At the very least, Blue Bottle is definitely worth a try.

Ana R.

Yelp
The company company has made a name. Their coffee beans are good, the machines in their shops are among the best, but they have not trained their baristas to know how to make the best espresso, further more you pay $4 for just any rookie to make whatever. If you are already half the way of getting the perfect espresso why not got further? Espresso's are served hot, with a creamy top from m the coffee it self and never never over extracted! I really don't know how to call the coffee I was served! I was about to purchase two bags of beans at the store but never mind
google avatar

Lauren C.

Yelp
This is my favorite cafe in the entire Boston/Cambridge region that I've tried! I love the specialty drinks here, like the New Orleans and the Muscavado sugar latte. I appreciate the friendliness and expertise of the baristas. They are all really good at latte art, so I think that means they practice making drinks a lot and care about their work haha. The milk texture is also consistently really smooth and more delicious than other cafes I've tried. The high price is worth the mind blowing coffee experience imo!
google avatar

Erin R.

Yelp
I'd like to begin this review by saying that I LOVE and am addicted to all coffee. I have been wanting to try blue bottle since it opened near Harvard square and I finally had the opportunity to go. To be honest, I came here with high expectations and was a bit disappointed. My husband and I both got 2 different drip coffees which were both very smooth but not worth the $5 price tag. If I come back I will probably try something different (maybe I just ordered the wrong thing) Love the idea and the story behind the store. Located in a great spot. Service was very good and staff was friendly. The food looked good but looked like pretty small portions. Atmosphere inside was nice and spacious but the tables are tiny so I would recommend for a coffee date or reading but not to study or do work.
google avatar

Zach H.

Yelp
Cute cafe, modern design, great service, and good setup for many people to spaciously setup for conversation or individual work.
google avatar

Grace Y.

Yelp
The space is clean and well lit, with plenty of seating. However the coffee lacks something to be desired. As a Blue Bottle fan since my time living in San Francisco, I had expected the coffee at this outpost to match the coffee at SF locations, but this simply was not the case. I've gotten a decaf almond milk latte twice, and both times the milk was too foamy and overfrothed, while the coffee taste wasn't that great either. The milk didn't integrate with the espresso at all. I didn't finish the drink either times. Prices are what you would expect: I paid $13 for a hot chocolate, an almond milk latte, and a cookie. The ginger molasses cookies are soft, chewy, and delicious though, I have to say.
google avatar

Kurtis J.

Yelp
Lucky Harvard students! I thought about the days I had handed over to a bottle, the nights I can't remember, the mornings I slept through, all the time spent running from myself--coffee please! Premium priced but well worth it if you want to spoil yourself. Come to the 6ix!
google avatar

Andrew W.

Yelp
Walked into a pretty quick moving line. Got the new orleans cold brew and it is exactly what is described as. Subtly sweet and fresh.
google avatar

Ashwini P.

Yelp
I've been wanting to check out what the Blue Bottle hype was about for a while now, and I finally got the chance to try it out. Loved it! I came on a late weekday morning, and was pleased to see that there were many seating options. The atmosphere is light and airy, very minimalistic. For my coffee, I opted for the New Orleans iced coffee, and was very pleased. It was described as creamy and syrupy, however on tasting, it was not overpoweringly sweet and I could still appreciate the rich flavor of the coffee. I would definitely recommend getting the New Orleans iced coffee if you like sweeter drinks! I was here for a couple of hours and needed to get some work done. The environment is good for studying, except there is no WiFi. Luckily I was able to use Harvard WiFi and there is also xfinity. Overall I would recommend Blue Bottle if you are in the area and are craving some delicious coffee!

john p.

Yelp
They shut the door 15 minutes before their own advertised open time. Would prefer them to post an earlier closing down time. Drove a lot for coffee and got no coffee. Ain't cool
google avatar

Jenny B.

Yelp
Fantastic coffee. International chain. Drink it. It's worth it. Yelp wants me to write more....but if you've been to a blue bottle, you know it's not necessary
google avatar

Tori R.

Yelp
Love, love, love blue bottle! Their New Orleans is my go to, but I also love almost everything else on their menu. While their prices are a little pricier than most, I can appreciate the quality and taste of their various drip and freshly brewed coffees. I'm also a big fan of their almond butter toast! The baristas have always been so kind and some of them even greet me by name when I come in. Truthfully, I alternate between blue bottle and pavement coffee just down the road. But, if I want kind baristas and great service, I choose Blue bottle.
google avatar

Peter G.

Yelp
I finally gave into the hype and tried out Blue Bottle. Everyone I know from the west coast swears by it, so I had to give it a shot to see what it was all about. Overall, I really like it, and I think it's one of the best coffee shops in the square. I've gotten the cappuccino and the mocha, and both are very good. The espresso is very bold and tastes so much better than your average cup from Starbucks. I'd highly recommend trying it!
google avatar

Kushal S.

Yelp
Hand down one of the best coffees I have ever had! Big fan of their New Orleans Cold brew, mixed with chicory, this blend is as good as it gets! Also tried their single origin coffees- amazing! Can be a bit procey but worth checking out!!

natasha m.

Yelp
Nostalgia from my days living in San Francisco, I can't get enough blue bottle this summer. Excellent quality coffee, friendly baristas and quick service. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Ji Won S.

Yelp
I've heard great things about Blue Bottle and I definitely know what the hype is about now! It's one of the best coffee shops I've been to. I'm a huge coffee lover so I was excited to try their coffee! The interior was minimal, clean and bright. The cashier was friendly explaining the different types of coffee they had to offer. We ended up getting New Orleans Iced - fresh milk, cane sugar, coffee. It had a hint of vanilla but you could still taste the bitterness of coffee which I absolutely loved. I'm definitely going to miss the taste of this!
google avatar

Hannah K.

Yelp
Worth the hype in my opinion - get the New Orleans Iced Coffee!
google avatar

Norma T.

Yelp
Blue bottle has finally arrived in Boston! Well, Cambridge. But let's get to the good stuff. Limited selection of food (Not sure if they rotate baked goods) but we got their made to order liege waffle and avocado toast. Will say the avocado toast looked like nothing special once we received it but the taste was great! Nicely seasoned, and the bread was still crunchy and was overall one of the best avo toasts I have had in a cafe. The waffle was also amazing, perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft inside - just sweet enough. Coffee drinks are great of course, the cortado was extremely smooth and not acidic at all. No sugar needed here. They also sell 6 oz bags of beans which are freshly roasted! Did ask for the drinks for here (after getting asked directly) and got them in to-go cups which is not a big deal but just a miscommunication from the cashier to the barista. Do recommend visiting quite early if you want to visit before the rush of people and get a table.

Yelp
CALLING ALL COFFEE ENTHUSIASTS! BLUE BOTTLE HAS LANDED IN CAMBRIDGE! After years of playing games with our hearts, the long-anticipated day is here! The coffee is just as smooth and delicious as the SF and NY locations, and the line was shorter-- fingers crossed that it stays that way. The staff were all super pleasant, which is a welcome departure from the standard Blue Bottle 'tude you'll get in SF/NY. They're serving their classic coffee menu, including single-origin pour over, cold brew, and New Orleans iced coffee (coffee and chicory root concentrate diluted with whole milk-- this NOLA specialty was born out of necessity during the civil war, when coffee supplies were short, so chicory root was added to stretch the coffee). They also serve some light fare: muffins, waffles, and a delicious looking avocado toast. I didn't have a chance to sample any of the snacks, but maybe next time. They also sell beans so you can try to recreate the Blue Bottle magic at home. (If you're brave enough to try, extremely detailed instructions are available online.) The space is minimalist and white, flooded with natural light. Already before the officially opening, laptop hobos had settled in, so I wouldn't bank on coming here and finding a spot to sit down - but there are some perches without an obvious place for a laptop, so maybe those will turn over relatively quickly. So excited Blue Bottle is here, let's hope they continue to grow in Cambridge and Boston!
google avatar

Jan Levinson O.

Yelp
I got the donovan coffee beans from here for my husband Michael and he loved it. He says it was pretty strong but tasty. I don't drink coffee because it makes me sometimes out of my zen area. I prefer drinking nice green tea or oolong tea. We tried blue bottle coffee first when we traveled to San Fransisco. Boston and Cambridge offer tons of good cafe shops but it is good to have another great option. Servers here are nice and cute.

Yelp
Beautiful, clean, bright space that is laid out nicely for seating arrangements. If you like good coffee, this is your place. The food options are all delicious, and it's clear that the baristas are trained like a well-oiled machine. I had their avocado toast (steeply priced at $9, but also to be expected for the location and ambiance of this new coffee shop) and it was really good. I'm not sure I would pay the $9 for it again - but I will certainly return for other things. I also had their apple crumb muffin? This was not called a muffin, but it looked like one! It was extremely sweet and really offset my taste buds from my more bitter hot cocoa. Latte art is on point if you're trying to do it for the gram. They make steamed milk art on their hot cocoa too, which is nice for people who just don't like the taste of coffee. Happy to return soon to try the waffles and baguette sandwiches.

Yelp
Blue Bottle had a community day today before their official grand opening, which means that all coffee was on the house. There was a line out the door, but everything moved quickly and the employees were nice -- they handed out samples of coffee and baked goods to those in line. The space is beautiful -- high ceilings, a lot of natural light, plenty of seating, and a lot of white space. The drink menu is carefully curated; they have espresso drinks, 2 types of drip coffee, and 2 types of iced coffee (cold brew and New Orleans style). There is also food, like avocado toast, sandwiches, and chia seed pudding, in case you're hungry. Overall, it was fantastic. Everything is a bit pricey, so I wouldn't go here for my daily coffee, but it's a great spot in Harvard Square to sit down with a cup of coffee and get some work done/study, to meet a friend, or to treat yourself to an amazing-tasting, quality cup of coffee. I'll definitely be back to try their cold brew!

Yelp
As a Bay Area transplant, I was so happy to hear that Blue Bottle finally followed me here to Boston! This shop is in a very pretty bright and open space, and has a minimal contemporary interior design that a friend labels as "Californian." (Not sure about that, but it's nice in any case.) Reliably good third-wave coffee, like I'm used to from Blue Bottle in San Francisco. Unfortunately there is very little seating and the place gets very crowded on the weekends. Don't expect to have a conversation with the overworked baristas! (Maybe it's better during the week?) If you take into account the bumping bass music blasting above the crowds, this is really not a good place to work. (Compare with e.g. the peaceful Blue Bottle in Palo Alto! Unfortunately they didn't manage to import that peaceful feeling across the country along with the nice coffee.) Anyway, worth a visit for the pretty interior and nice coffee. But don't get too comfortable: Harvard/Boston tourists will be angling to steal your seat before long.
