Blue Corn Harvest - Review - Cedar Park - Austin - The Infatuation

"At first glance, this laid-back restaurant may seem confusing. Why are tinga chicken nachos sharing menu space with New Mexico pork verde, fried catfish, and a shrimp po’boy? But Blue Corn Harvest’s strong suit is experimenting with the sheer scale of Texas influences. Their dinner menu is solid, but the restaurant’s massive brunch plates like jalapeno cheddar biscuits and gravy, eggs benedict with steak and chipotle hollandaise, and “Texas-sized” chicken and waffles are what sets this place apart. These elite hangover helpers deserve all the credit they can get." - Taylor Tobin

Second time here and the manager and team has set such a high standard. The food is great, the flavors are awesome, and the staff is really friendly, like seriously they do a great job hiring really sweet people. Check out the Bloody Mary bar (pictured) and their seasonal specials.

We chose this place at random, and we are so glad we did. So special and so delicious. The service was outstanding and the Margaritas were strong but good! We want to come back and try several things on their menu.

Google
We were pleasantly surprised by Blue Corn Harvest & Grill. This farm-to-table restaurant had great service, great drinks, and delicious meals. Our server made suggestions for drinks and appetizers. A section of the restaurant has a big screen TV that is tuned to sports. There is an outside area to dine, but it looked like it was undergoing some repairs.

Google
Chicken Fried Steak was very good. The breading fell off a little too easy but that’s OK. The waiter was nice and attentive without being overbearing. It was a nice atmosphere but not so loud you couldn’t hear.

Google
We came from 4:00 through 6:00 on a Saturday and service was still amazing. The ribeye melts in your mouth and the steak burrito. Although it has cilantro which I do not like. All the other flavors is still overpowered it enough to where I couldn't taste it

Google
Blue Corn Harvest is an absolute gem! The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Every dish bursts with bold Southwestern flavors, and you can tell the ingredients are high quality. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. The staff is outstanding—friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure you have a great experience. The service is quick without feeling rushed, and the team really makes you feel like a valued guest. Whether you’re enjoying their signature dishes or exploring something new on the menu, every bite is delicious. Blue Corn Harvest has quickly become one of my favorite spots, and I can’t recommend it enough!

Google
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and received excellent service! The staff was friendly and our waitress was quick to serve us and provide recommendations since it was our first time here. We started with the Harvest #4 appetizer which was very good. Our cocktails were well made and delicious, we drank the house margarita, Cadillac margarita, and harvest margarita. The harvest margarita was small and a bit strong for my liking, but tasted good! The Cadillac margarita and house margarita were my favorites. I ordered the Avocado & black bean nachos off of the vegetarian menu and my boyfriend ordered one of the pork meals. We both enjoyed our food, the presentation and flavor were great! I would say the price is slightly above average compared to other Mexican restaurants, but overall a wonderful experience and will eat here again!

Google
Blue Corn Harvest offers a decent dining experience with some highs and lows. The atmosphere is very Texan and I loved it! The menu features a variety of Southwestern dishes which I thought was pretty neat. The service was great and they were very nice and informative. The food quality is generally good, but there were some misses, like that I didn't know that the brownie dessert had a lemon topping. Overall, Blue Corn Harvest is a solid choice for a casual meal, but there’s room for improvement in both food and consistency.

Yelp
We had the Avocado Roasted Beet salad with grilled chicken. It was absolutely amazing! The red wine vinaigrette salad dressing was perfect. Light and refreshing. Well done !

Yelp
Blue Corn remains among our favorite restraunts in the area regardless of the location. The farm to table offerings are plentiful and always very tasty. My favorites are the quesadillas, nachos and chicken fried chicken. My SO enjoys the burrito, enchilada and meatloaf. I love love love their trout but it doesn't make it to the menu very often. The staff are pleasant and keep an eye on everyone which is always nice. They are prompt and bring starters of cornbread and drinks pretty quick which is nice. We love their appetizer options especially at happy hour. I wish they had a special appetizer from time to time to try other things they make. One word to the wise, it is frequently chilly in the restraint so be sure to bring a jacket if you tend to be cold.

Yelp
I was on the road and needed a good dinner. I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The building is a little hard to find. I was so very pleased that I found this place. I was seated immediately. Service was excellent. Ambiance was pleasant. I had a salad and the daily appetizer. Both were great. I'm a vegetarian and don't like a lot of foods but this place was great. I hope to return for a cocktail and another meal.

Yelp
One of the best lunch experiences we've had for a while. Shout out to fellow Yelper Shannon G. for the review that led us here! Everything we had was really tasty, menu has some unique takes on some standard item, that we haven't run across before. All the items were really fresh, well presented, and came out quickly (but not too quickly). Hop Queen opted for their very tasty and good value house margarita, and they had a good IPA from Pinthouse on tap. The tortilla soup had tons of flavour, and generous portions of chicken. Very tasty. I had the 512 Crispy Pork enchiladas, and the HQ had Chicken fried chicken. Everything was very good and filling. Had to get a doggie bag, very generous portions. Service was above and beyond, our server Zoe was great, friendly and personable, and added to our enjoyable experience. The manager, Esau, came by to check on us during the meal, and we also saw him hustling around, greeting people, carrying orders out, in general being switched on and ensuring his place was humming along. Very impressive from all the employees we observed! Outdoor seating was also available, and we saw they accommodated a large party of 15-20 back in one of their banquet rooms.

Yelp
Good food. Good drinks!! Good Service!! The waiters are very nice and suggest extra things to you, but they aren't forced. Very clean as well.
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
The service of the place was great, they were super accommodating with our request and got our food out fast. This is your typical bar and grill food, nothing out of this world but very tasty. I appreciate how many options they had on their menu. It is a great place to go before a concert since it is so close to the venue.

Yelp
This exact location is my favorite! Food is always cooked to perfection service was great ! Our waitress always came back to check on us and to refill our drinks! I wouldn't change a thing!

Yelp
The manager sat me and was very friendly. As a first time diner, it was nice that he gave me recommendations. My server Randy was friendly and helped me chose between two items. We made the right choice! The Fry Shrimp Po Boy was overflowing with well-seasoned shrimp on a nicely grilled hoagie roll. The slaw was very flavorful and perfect with the shrimp. The habanero aioli added a nice kick to round out the sandwich. It was all together a terrific sandwich. The corn bread muffins came warm and soft. Finally, my sangria was delightful. Overall, it was a very nice dining experience. I will be back.

Yelp
The restaurant is spacious and the staff is friendly. The bacon was perfect and the music was excellent.

Yelp
Ribeye is the best. Always a proper cut (not a cheap piece of meat) and solid flavor. Service is always spot on as well.

Yelp
One thing we love about Austin is that there is usually no wait at most places and Blue corn harvest is one of the only places in Austin where we had to wait. It wasn't too long but it sure was worth it. Their decor is a little old but feels cozy and booths are quite comfortable. The service is pretty good across the board too. Their Mexican martini is quite good to start with and that's what we got. Its served in a shaker and can be shared by 2 people if you want to wet your lips but not get too much alcohol is your system. The food is excellent across the board. We got the artichoke-stuffed chicken, blue crab stuffed chicken and the fried tilapia. The tilapia had a bit too much salt but was flavored quite well otherwise. The sauces for the chicken dishes were a little on the heavy side but flavorful. We have been here before and I think we will come back again.

Yelp
Delicious food. I've only done take out but it's so good we'll have to eat in soon. Recommend the family meals and enchiladas.
google avatar

Stephen S.

Yelp
Who doesn't love this restaurant? It's a unique twist on modern Tex mex. Although the restaurant is decent in size, there is often a wait. But that's a good thing because there is always a crowd waiting for the good food! Personally, I'm a fan of most dishes I've had here. The crab stuffed chicken is my go to entree but all have been delicious!
google avatar

Darian C.

Yelp
We got the chili and shrimp quesadilla, steak and mushroom quesadilla, and the tinga chicken rellenos. I thought the quesadillas were really good and would go again just for them especially since we went during happy hour and so the starters were cheaper. The tinga chicken rellenos was a bit more disappointing, still pretty good, but I wouldn't get them again. We went at 6 pm on Friday and there was a lot of people so it took a while to get seated and the food to come out but it was worth it the food was so yummy. We sat in the outside patio area which was covered and was a small cute seating area, especially since the weather was nice.

Yelp
My wife and I had lunch on a Thursday afternoon. The restaurant was great! Friendly staff, cool decor, busy and the food was excellent! My wife ordered the Chile and also had a Wedge Salad with Grilled Shrimp. I tried both and it was as good as it looked! The Chile was very hearty and had great flavors. I ordered the Diablo Burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was tender and probably one of the best burgers I've had in a long time! Our server said all the ingredients are fresh from local farms. The restaurant is chef owned! We'll definitely come back!

Yelp
It's hard to write this as I have normally had a good experience with Blue Corn. I was there with a friend that I seldom get to see and the service/food was definitely not up to par. I order the BLT and specified crispy bacon. My friend ordered a salad with dressing on the side. The orders were slow coming out and then there was dressing on her salad and my bacon was barely cooked. The young lady server never even looked at our orders. We didn't send it back as we have very limited time to talk. The server told us the owner was there that day, which would make you think that they would have been paying more attention to the food and customers. Then when the bill came, my friend's drink was on my tab. The server changed it, but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Very disappointed. I will go back only because this was a rare issue when the food and service was not up to par.

Yelp
Food was AMAZING!! We enjoyed everything we ordered!! Service was good and friendly! Restaurant was clean and tidy. Chicken nachos are a must try and I think my favorite!! The seafood enchiladas were also really good but I would like to see more shrimp in them. The salmon wasn't very appealing: too bland for my taste. Would most definitely come back!!

Yelp
Stopped by for breakfast right when they opened. Staff was very nice and service was great. It is a nice restaurant. There is enough space to be spread out but the vibe and decorations were good. Good local place energy which was honestly why I picked it over IHOP. Only miss was the mac and cheese. I recommend kids pancakes and eggs. My girls shared that and left the Mac uneaten. Great place give it a try if you are in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
The menu is always eclectic. Their drink menu is fantastic. Every dish that we have ordered has always been at the top of its game. I definitely would go here for a date.

Yelp
This place was amazing the workers were so nice the food was super good i recommend the Mac and cheese and the peanut butter pie. Definitely worth the money

Yelp
The food and especially the service was great. It was our first time there and they did not disappoint. The drinks hit just right. We plan to do brunch there in the future.

Yelp

Yelp
The service was fast, food was good however priced a little higher than expected probably because everything is made freshly. We sat outside because we brought our little 6 month puppy. I shared the salad with my mom which was good and a big portion. My photo is after I split it in half. The chicken strips were so tasty too!

Yelp
After moving to San Antonio, we've learned how much we enjoyed BCH. It's hard to find a place like it; especially in SA. We started with the flash fried oysters and then moved on to the seafood enchiladas. The flash fried oysters never disappoint. They are always on our appetizer list when we go. The seafood enchiladas are served Nee Mexican-style with a healthy serving of seafood tucked between two tortillas. The pinto beans could have used some more seasoning; they were bland. It was relatively quiet the night we went and our server was more than attentive.

Yelp
Service was great, better than great. Food was good and spot on. We came with two toddlers, the staff were patient and understanding. Diverse menu for picky eaters.

Yelp
Plenty of parking considering today was LISD graduations. The hostess who greeted me was so pleasant, warm and genuine. There was a 20-25 minute wait for a table for two. They do take reservations. I did not make any. Sat at the bar, full service available. Waited about 10 minutes to be served, so I ordered an extra for my guest who was joining me. Thank you Louis for the drinks, chips and salsa. Hot, fresh and have I mentioned how delicious the Mexican Martinis are!! A huge shout out to Esau!!! Fabulous team, food and service..
google avatar

Gretchen M.

Yelp
My kind of enchilada. Creamy, a kick of spicy, good seafood combination, perfectly seasoned. I could visit here many times and won't mind ordering the same thing. It is really good.

Yelp
Food is excellent I've been there multiple times and different locations every time I go food is very good. Highly recommend

Yelp
Modern spot with great outdoor dining area. We stayed in though. Excellent Mexican decor as well. Service was slow but they were busy, although I do like when I can enjoy my food and not be rushed Free cornbread to start was so good and different for Mexican spot. Quesadillas were pretty good as well with mushrooms and not just cheese. Key lime pie is a must.

Gayle E.

Yelp
Ordered the Mac and cheese and the pork chop. Both entrees were good. Desert was not the same. Cheesecake and coconut cream pie didn't taste fresh. Both tasted days old. Would certainly eat the entrees again . As well as the pork taquitos, but not the desert. For such expensive deserts, we expected them to be fresh and homemade, not tasting days old.

Yelp
Regular visitor to this place for a few years now . Their margaritas never disappoint, our favorite is the blue corn margarita, with regular dishes being chicken tinga relleno . We recently tried the fish tacos and they were great ! The vegetarian relleno was okay . They usually load up on the cheese and you need to let them know to go easy on cheese if you are looking for more authentic Mexican and less Tex mex . We really wish they had better Mexican salsa and brought some changes to menu with more authentic Mexican dishes as they make things really well and might have to spice it up a notch . Service is always good and parking is ample . Ambiance is the typical Texan environment which is really cool . Their desserts are great and the coconut cream pie is to die for - with the right amount of sweetness and great flavor !

Yelp
First impressions : Not the best or the worst. No one was at the hostess table when I arrived. There was only a couple at the bar when I arrived, not busy but still no greeting. Not even to say, "Welcome in, we'll be with you in a minute." The entire place wasn't busy or lively actually. I requested to be sat at a table so I could be serviced. I ordered the Flash Fried Oysters. Was not at all impressed or even motivated to finish. They were basically tasteless, the mango relish and habanero aioli did nothing. I asked for hot sauce..... while the oysters looked great [video below] and came out quickly - they just lacked flavor. Wouldn't be my first choice, maybe I'll try something else another time.

Yelp
Great place! Stopped by for a quick dinner while traveling for business in the area. Saw the place had a ton of great reviews and decided to check it out. Glad I did. It was not too long before closing so they were winding down but the staff were very welcoming (it was 30 min before close). The sever (didn't catch his name) was very nice. Had great recommendations and was very attentive. The food was amazing - the I've never quite seen a combination of ingridients quite like that. Was surprised when I first saw them but they worked together in a fantastic way. Would definitely be back if I'm in the area and would highly recommend them!

Yelp
This place was nice to visit with friends for breakfast! We got here for our Saturday reservation at 11 and were seated right away. We were a party of 6. The server greeted us almost immediately and was very attentive to us. I started with the mango popsicle mimosa which was just delightful then I followed it up with the spinach and mushroom omelette. Everyone loved coming here! We had a one year old who was rowdy and the service here was wonderful with him! The baby got the rainbow pancakes and loved them! Others at our table enjoyed the breakfast quesadilla and a few others got the omelettes. We would all return here again! Thank you for the wonderful visit!

Yelp
We arrived around 8:00PM on a Friday night to a very chill but packed atmosphere. Lots of groups of families and friends chatting, super great community vibes. Our waiter was extremely fast and attentive, and offered us and multiple other tables complimentary corn bread (woohoo!) appetizer of Fundido with steak was okay. The meat in the tacos we ordered was tender, saucy and very well seasoned! We also ordered Chile Arellano and that was delicious. Overall good food and good service, quicker than you'd think!

Anna C.

Yelp
Highly recommend. The menu is not extensive but the choices are creative and a taste of what you know about tex-mex . Our margaritas were good, not watered down or tasting of just the mix. Our meals were delicious. I got the salmon. I know it sounds boring. But it wasn't. It was cooked to perfection with a seasoning that made it atypical. And, the sides were tasty and complimented the dish. My boyfriend got the seafood enchilada and it wasn't your usual rolled up enchiladas. But it had all the elements - wrap, seafood, sauce. There was salmon in it and he said it was cooked to perfect. The whole meal was great for our first night in Austin. Also, need to mention the server was friendly and did a great job. The atmosphere was casual. I would go back.

Yelp
II've been to both the Georgetown and Cedar Park locations many times and always had a great experience--until now. I made a reservation for my son's birthday dinner (party of 8), and the service was disappointing with the exception of the host she was kind, welcoming, and helpful with offering to hold the cake until after dinner...Kudos to the host!! I wish I remembered her name.Ugh! Okay moving forward.Orders and drinks took forever, I had to ask twice for the birthday cake I brought, and when my daughter asked for more limes, the server rudely responded, "I already gave you four--was that not enough?" Both my daughters had tacos, so the comment was unnecessary. Our server (initials M.H.) barely checked on us but still added a 20% gratuity. Regardless of the automatic tip, great service should still be provided. I'm not against tipping, but it should be earned. The food is great, but for me, service is just as important--and this time, it fell way short. Very disappointing for such a special occasion. I hope the owners read this, hiring staff with this kind of attitude will eventually drive loyal customers away. Service matters.

Yelp
Best Mexican martini I've ever had great olives and best pasta ever and great bacon jam

Yelp
It was good to find out that the place is locally owned and has multiple locations across Austin area.the menu has decent selection of both food and drinks. The server provided a quick history of the establishment and the special as well. The food in general could be better. My direct comparison is with other TexMex options available in Austin area.

Yelp
We wandered in with a rambunctious group of ten at 10 am on a Saturday and Blue Corn managed to accommodate us with a big long table. Our server, the Lovely Lydia, juggled multiple orders, separate checks, and more than a few smart-ass remarks with amazing grace, humor, and efficiency. And the food was delicious. I ordered the daily feature, a pork belly Benedict. I could have used a bit more Hollandaise sauce, but the eggs were perfectly poached, the pork belly meltingly tender, and the side potatoes just as I like them--crispy brown outside and tender in. The interior is spacious and welcoming, and the Bloody Mary bar was a thing of beauty. If I'd seen it before I ordered, I might have been tempted to drink my brunch.
google avatar

Everett T.

Yelp
Short review because we literally only ate one thing: Chicken fried steak. All of the other reviews raved, and it didn't disappoint. Breading was on point and well seasoned, and the cut of steak they use is tender. Chicken fried steak is one of those dishes that deceptively difficult to pull off. The interior is surprisingly large and they have a covered patio for when the weather cooperates. Service was fast and polite, we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I recently tried this restaurant while in town visiting family. We went on a Tuesday was fajitas and margaritas special night. We decided to have a margarita to drink. I tried the frozen house margarita. It was okay. Not the best I've ever had but also not the worst. I would have liked it to have more lime flavor but it definitely had plenty of tequila. We then started our meal with the queso, salsa, and guac appetizer (harvest #4). The salsa was great if you like spicy. The queso was also fantastic. The guac was alittle lack luster in my opinion. It was served in a soup cup which on first glance I thought was a good portion. When getting a scoop I quickly realized it was a small scoop of guac with the bottom filled with lettuce. For a 12.99 price tag I would have thought there would have been more of the dips. I was very disappointed with the guac filled with lettuce. I would have much rather just a small bowl of guac without all the lettuce mixed in. For my entree I have the Diablo burger. I loved the sauce on this burger. It had a nice kick of heat with a good flavor. The patty its self was moist but could have used alittle more salt. The fries on the side were thick cut but again was a small portion. The fries were great if you like that style. They were nicely cooked with plenty of salt. Overall I would come back to this restaurant. I would probably not get a margarita next time but the food had a good flavor and I left happy.

Yelp
Don't make any plans to go to the 1431 Blue Corn Harvest. The waitstaff is more interested in flirting with each other than taking care of the customers. We saw the waitress to take our order and deliver the food. No refills on drinks, no extra chips for the Queso, no swing by to see how we are doing. I won't be back. By contrast, we've been to the Georgetown location and it is a great experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Service gets a 5 star Kimberly was excellent. We ordered crispy pork 512 enchiladas which were excellent and meatloaf. The Blue Corn margarita was sooo delicious and I'm a margarita snob. The queso was okay. The chef banana bread pudding was good. Will definitely come back had a unique menu and happy hour is 5-7pm which is nice.

Yelp
Man was I torn picking my stars for this review. It really was almost a 4 star choice, but I ended up deciding on 3. My husband and I came here while we were in town looking for a decent brunch time meal before heading out to the airport. Parking was relatively easy on a Saturday. We walked in and were greeted and seated right away. Service was very friendly and we were happy with that aspect of our experience, and food was also served in a very reasonable amount of time. Not so fast you're concerned, but not so slow you're antsy and upset. I ended up ordering breakfast quesadilla and my husband got a burrito of some sort. My breakfast quesadilla was decent, especially with salsa on it. The potatoes were where I got lost in it. Those potatoes were really just inedible. It's really hard to mess up potatoes but the texture was really bad and they were not warm. My husband had the same issue. He liked his burrito though! We both left our potatoes not because we were not hungry but because they were that bad. The bathrooms were also decently clean, so that was a plus. Check came out to us a little slower than I would have liked, but wasn't a forever wait. It's definitely worth a try if you live in the area but probably not a must go if you're from out of the area.

John Michael W.

Yelp
Solid restaurant! Their menu has a variety of options, and the service is always top notch. A few other reviews mentioned long wait times, but my wife and I got lucky and were seated right away for dinner.
google avatar

K B.

Yelp
It's hard to find quality hot food with gluten free options but BCH did not disappoint. My business partner and I travel a lot and eat a lot of really bad food on the road. But this place was the happy exception. In fact we went twice on the same trip!

R M.

Yelp
Ordered Fish tacos and shrimp tortilla, farmers migas omelette, kids omelette and house soup Non of the food items had any flavor other than cheese Food is not worth the $70 bill we paid. When asked for an extra bowl to share the soup among kids, our waiter gave us a weird look. Since the food was a big let down, we left quickly and spent very less time in the restaurant. So I wouldn't comment on the quality of service any more than I already mentioned. Overall I would say, it was a mistake to not pay heed to other customers who has bad experience.

Yelp
Loved the food! As a vegetarian, I was able to get a very tasty meal that was so well put together. Our server was personable and very helpful. Nice place to eat.
