Blue Dragon Pho

My coworker and I ate here for dinner last night. We had no idea what a surprise we were in for. When we arrived at Blue Dragon, there was a group of firefighters and a mom and her daughter and they were all talking to the owner, Sandy. Sandy introduced us to them as she was making a special meal for the fire fighters and plating it on, literally, a silver platter. They all knew each other and it was so heart warming to see community support each other and come together around food. Sandy gave my coworker and I a taste of her homemade kombucha, which was delicious. I ordered the veggie pho and my coworker ordered the special pho. I’ve eaten a lot of pho in my life and this was hands down the most incredible I’ve ever had. It was so rich, with notes of star anise, large chunks of garlic, and fresh veggies including some that were locally harvested that day. Thank you so much Sandy for your delicious food and warm heart. Can’t wait to come back!

Last month I had one of the most pleasant restaurant experiences of my life. The food at Blue Dragon was great, but Sandy, the owner, was an absolute delight. She was incredibly friendly and fun to talk to. She gave me some home made Cambodian Amok when I told her it was one of my favorites. I was able to bring it back home so I could share it with my family. Sandy also offered a candle with Vietnamese scents of lemongrass and anise. We loved the food, but the Amok and the candle were unexpected delights. We hope Blue Dragon is very successful and sets new standards in hospitality and food. We can't wait to go back and try the amazing food again.

Great food at very affordable prices. We had the pho there and it was delicious. The owner, Sandy, even offered us an off menu item, Cambodian Amok, cod fish wrapped in banana leaves. We traveled with the frozen Amok all the way to the East Coast and it stayed fresh. We steamed it at home and it made for a super delicious meal with some rice. I wish our grocery store frozen food aisles had such fresh, delicious, healthy options (hint: maybe Blue Dragon should look into offering frozen meals too, perhaps on a platform like Gold Belly). We were amazed at how well it traveled. Thank you Sandy for such delicious, healthy, fresh food!

Sandy was such a delight on top of serving some of the best pho I’ve ever had. My partner also had a Laotian salad and it was the freshest and tastiest salad. I wish I could bottle the dressing. Everyone needs to come here. Sandy will treat you like family!

The hints of lemons grass, and basil activated our taste buds. Sandy’s infused Carnitas were amazing in the Pho and scrumptious as a side order. Wow 🤯 We tried the Dragon Pork Noodle Bowl, the Beef Pho Special, the Dragon Tea, Tiger Tea and an off-menu Asian pear kimchi - everything was off-the-charts on flavor, presentation, and freshness. Don’t be deterred by the small pop-up window format - in addition to the talented and friendly staff, the small-scale kitchen is one of the reasons why the food was so incredible. Small batch, made to order. We were also lucky to meet the owner, Sandy - it was a pleasure to hear her story and learn about the inspiration behind her dishes. We can’t wait to go back!

Incredibly welcoming staff and easily some of the best pho I’ve had. The chicken pho was top notch. I got mine spicy. The tiger coffee / tea drink was also tasty - like melted ice cream (but it’s dairy free!). And you get to eat in the middle of a beautiful art gallery. What more could you ask for? Will be coming back.

I had the chicken pho (spicy) and my husband got the pork pho. Both were delicious and had good portion sizes for meat. We will definitely be back to try their specials! The staff was very friendly and service was great.

The service was absolutely incredible and the environment was spectacular. It was very busy but my group and I managed to snag the last few bowls of pho they had left for the lunch rush. The pho was unorthodox but tasted great. Must emphasize how good the service was: very warm, friendly, and personable. 10/10 will go again next time I'm in the area.

This is a small to go place and not a restaurant where you can sit down and have table service. They have a limited selection on the menu each day. I had the chicken Pho it was very tasty and had a slightly spicy broth. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There is a little patio in the back with some tables and chairs for seating but nothing inside.

Just had the most AMAZING time at Blue Dragon. We stumbled upon this place while exploring HMB and Sandy came to talk to us. She was so welcoming and warm that we had to drop in. We ordered Vietnamese iced coffees and Tiger Coffee (Vietnamese iced tea + coffee). The flavor was great, the basil leaf is a nice aromatic touch, and the homemade coconut creamer makes this a perfect treat for a warm day. We were invited to try the spring roll bowl and wow - it's a great deconstructed roll. The flavors were bright and fresh. Come by on a nice day and enjoy the quiet patio. There's a very cute art studio next door. Will definitely be coming back!

Such a cute shared space between the art gallery, restaurant and real estate office. Incredibly friendly owner and staff. The smells will certainly draw you in and it's so worth it! Tried the iced coffee and the spring roll salad and both were amazing! Definitely recommend for a perfect lunch option or a quick coffee pit stop. They use natural, locally sourced ingredients and you can definitely tell in the freshness of each ingredient.

The food and service were wonderful here. We ordered Dragon Teas, Chicken Rice Ball, Chicken Banh Mi, Pork Rice Ball, and Pork Banh Mi. The broth is magically , even the veggie pho. service is great. Everything is fresh. And there is a brewery across the street where you can get drinks. Sells out fast though. So get there early.

Found this little gem in half moon bay. Everyone is so friendly when you order your food. We got the spring roll salad, chicken broth pho, and two drinks. Everything was so flavorful and tasty. First off the salad has the great veggies, crisp peanuts, and that sauce is like crack for your salad. When you mix it all with the noodles, it tasted like heaven. The pho was the best i have ever had. So much flavor, and i love that it's all gluten free. The lemongrass hibiscus, and Thai ice tea with coconut milk were perfection. The owner Sandy was there with her beautiful smiling face to tell me about the ingredients and showed us the fabulous art. I loved the little area you can eat in too. Overall i highly recommend this place. They add other menu items on different days also. I can't wait to try the other items.

Excellent pho, especially the broth and noodles. Rotating menu so come a couple times to see what you like best. Sandie, the owner, is very personable and pleasant to talk to. She really cares about providing a good experience and chatting up patrons about food like they're friends. Ambiance is is quant and charming, though it is carry out or sidewalk bench seating only. This place is easy to miss for being just one storefront off of the main drag in Half Moon Bay. But make sure you don't miss it

Wow! Walking up tonight to place the order u could smell how good it was going to be. Flavor upon flavor upon flavor! Every bite had us sounding off yum and yum.. we ordered the braised pork special it was OUT of this world good! Thanks for landing on the coast! And, for anyone looking for the best Pho " stop the car"! Btw.. i did add a few sprinkles of red chili flakes just cause I like it on the spicy side.

Yayyy! We've been waiting for this kind of incredibly flavorful, delicious, pho restaurant in town forever! I'm so glad my hubby noticed it on our walk downtown today It's so clear that there is great care, expertise and talent with these dishes. We started off with the chicken pho and veggie bahn mi--amazing! Can't wait to come back and try more!

I just finished my first bowl of chicken pho from @bluedragonpho and it was life changing!! From the broth to the noodles, the chicken and OMG the sauce. Add some Sriracha which they have the real deal and welcome to flavor heaven!!

This literal hole-in-the-wall is as special as the lines would suggest. Incredibly tasty and distinctive pho with different options each day. The small team puts so much love into this small restaurant and creates a devoted community of pho lovers around it. Make sure to check their website to see what the options are in any given day.

My girlfriend and I are from the east bay and we live and die by one pho shop out there but the weather was perfect for pho and we saw the reviews and pictures and were sold. Walking up, we were coming closer to their EOD, like 40 minutes before they closed. not only was the staff and owner energetic and timely, they were extremely kind and personable. I ordered the braised pork pho and my girlfriend ordered the chicken pho, the meat and broth were both well seasoned, the meat was tender and the broth had so much flavor. Thank you Sandy and the Blue Dragon Team for a wonderful dinner and a wonderful way to end the night!

Food is good, broth and chicken in the pho was delicious. Kind of skimpy on basil, sprouts and no decent spice for soup and no lime, also no bag for my food. I also had to wait half hour for my food because chef was not there. I had heard from a friend that she also had to wait approximately 20 minutes for her pho, not sure why there is such a long wait. I hope they fix the issue in having food ready to order. Chef was kind an apologetic and I would eat here again; I just can't wait as long as I did for food on my lunch break.

Sandy is an awesome daughter of a great man . With two other sisters she make the most wonderful soup pho in the world and will do anything to make your order just right for your needs. She had a beautiful personality and is a pleasure to converse with.. I stopped by s we hike charging my car across the street and enjoyed the food while visiting my dads .. I have a twelve year old daughter and the fact that sandy remembered my name let alone my beautiful daughters name was amazing and I will come back here any time I possibly can .. it's worth the extra mile to drive here .. sandy is the best .. signed polina and Tony . lol inside joke

i ordered two chicken phos and neither of them had any chicken. Not sure why it took them 50 mins to make that order!! Even the spring roll bowl I ordered was very underwhelming, We've eaten here before and the food was much better. Hopefully this experience isn't a reflection of their new standards (or lack thereof). I'd say skip this place - your patience and tummy will thank you,

Dang that's the best pho I've had since making it from scratch at a cooking school in hoi an. Deeply flavored broth with amazing roasted spice flavor. I only had the veggie pho but will back to try all of their food. You know when you've been eating cup of noodles then you finally have a proper tonkatsu ramen and you're like damn THIS is what it's supposed to taste like. Yeah like that.

The Beef Pho was perfect. I like how it came with all the flavorful garnishes already in my bowl and ready to eat. if you have never tried Pho before, you must try it here! it's so much easier to order and to enjoy and you don't need an Asian foodie chaperone . Super flavorful and so fragrant, i could smell the broth from a block away. fresh ingredients and super friendly , hardworking staff. A lot of the items are vegetarian friendly, gluten-free, and plant based. love it so much! can't wait to go back. might have to go back tomorrow. FYI: food might take 20-30 mins but it is so worth it

We had the special pho and the pork "Lao-nitas" (a take on carnitas) pho. Really delicious soups. We love all the spices and herbs, the lemongrass, makrut lime, kaffir, basil, ginger flavors. Sandy was super friendly and even gave us a Tiger Tea on the house which was a wonderful mix of Thai tea and a kick of cafe du Monde (yum). The Thai tea, made with coconut, was really good. We'll be going back to try the beef pho and the bahn mi sandwiches.

Delicious food (I've tried everything so far except for the pho) and super friendly staff. Probably the healthiest restaurant that you'll find in town. 5 stars all day!

So happy we tried this little gem. The food is fresh, seasonally inspired, and made with a passionate attention to detail. Sandy creates everything from scratch - the pho broth is spectacular!!! Order early because they run out quickly. You will not regret visiting this tiny but mighty kitchen window!!!!!

Has been a connoisseur of pho for over 40 years. I thought SFO airport was the epitome of the worst pho that is because it look exactly like it. Amazingly there is no beef which is probably the hint to walk away. Long and short, if you like authentic Vietnamese pho, probably it is not cup of tea. ​

This place is the real deal... best pho-king food around. Sandy and Basil are great. 10 stars for us. Can't wait to come back. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed and you'll be a return customer for sure.

Just wow! I kept missing out on her pop-ups but tonight was such a cold night that called for a steaming bowl of pho. It did not disappoint. I got the veggie pho and banh mi plus the spring roll for tomorrow's lunch. Sandy is authentically awesome and we are so lucky to have her and her amazingly tasty food on the coast.

Finally got to try this new Vietnamese spot in downtown half moon bay! I like that the menu is limited to a few items, executed very well. We got the chicken pho; generous portion and delicious. There's a slight sweetness in the chicken and the broth. I'll be back to try the other items, especially the banh mi!

Don't eat here. Please don't try it! Some say it's the best Pho they have ever enjoyed. However, if you don't try it...you can't be disappointed! Think of it that way. That way...MORE FOR ME!!!

Just had Blue Dragon for the first time and won't be the last! Loved the dairy-free coconut Thai tea and delicious pho. Easy parking. Take-out window only. Outdoor patio seating available. Staff was awesome and super friendly.

the Pho is the best I have tried here in the Bay Area. no competition whatsoever. the staff is wonderful and they treat you like family. the atmosphere is amazing and very welcoming. I recommend this place to all. 10 stars out of 5! That's how good it is.

Wow...All I can say is WOW. Today I had the Chicken Pho and SpringRoll Bowl. I have a picky 18 year old also and he said and I quote "That is the most flavorful broth I have ever had" and this kid wont eat an egg. The flavor, noodles, chicken was amazing. I also had the beef last week but never wrote a review. The Pho can feed two people easily. best lunch ever. Thank you Sandy. BTW, this is Mark 2 "green"

We LOVED the pho here! My son who loves Vietnamese food said their pho is 100 out of 5 stars. Highly recommend!! NOTE: it's a small pop up shop for take out. There are a couple of little seats in a courtyard next to it, but soooo worth going and enjoying wherever you end up sitting

We ordered the chicken pho, curry chicken pho with vegetables and the salad. Wonderful fresh ingredients, looked and smelled delicious. The coconut thai tea was very tasty- super friendly people working there. I was fortunate to have been there for quick service and delivery of food. I would recommend Blue Dragon Pho.

This place is fantastic! The flavors are incredible and beautifully plated. Everything is fresh. When you walk by the place you can smell the broth that's been simmering for hours. Sandy and her team can definitely cook and they make you feel part of their family. I've been there four times in the past week and will be back next week!

Pho is great, chef is great. Soup sells quick; don't be late. Thai tea with coconut is good, Definitely worth the stop if you're in the hood.

Delicious pho and outstanding customer service. All of the ingredients are fresh. My family is traveling the coast by RV and when I told the owner that I had a sick passenger she made a special drink for him, which was also delicious! She and her staff were so friendly! If we lived in Half Moon Bay we would frequent this place regularly!!

The spring roll bowl is in the top 10 things I have had in my life. Do yourself a favor and try it! SO MUCH FLAVOR! Add a coconut Thai iced tea and you'll be in heaven (and I''m typically not a huge Thai iced tea fan but whatever Sandy does to this one is so yummy) The pho is equally as flavorful and so full of goodies and different textures you'll have to remind yourself to come up for air. Try the brisket pho if you're there on a Monday! So happy to have this gem of a place in our community and look forward to making it part of the weekly meal rotation.

Nasty bait-and-switch that did not at all resemble the menu display. My husband got the sausage banh mi and I got the vegetarian banh mi. The menu picture showed a crispy long bun filled with cucumber, tomato, carrot slices, and cilantro. I got two tiny slider buns, the kind you buy at a supermarket, with whole spinach leaves, julienned carrot pieces, and an icy slab of tofu balanced between them. My husband's banh mi had big chunks of cold sausage in the same. I asked the lady at the counter if it was spicy, and she said they had nothing spicy in them. However, the buns were smeared with an orange paste with red pimiento flakes in it. We asked for the blue dragon drink, but they did not have the ingredients, she said. There's an excellent pho and banh mi restaurant in the Strawflower Plaza - save yourself the expense and heartburn, and go there. Don't go to Blue Dragon Pho.

My friend Janet & I are so thrilled and happy to have Blue Dragon Pho here in HMB. Food around here is generally good.... But this is exceptional. Wishing Sandy et al all the success. What a lovely person to boot!
