Blue Fin

I came with a friend for dinner and we were greeted politely. We had a table reservation, but chose to sit at the bar for drinks and happy hour oysters which were good and fresh. The Prosecco we were served was flat however the bartender reacted promptly and opened a fresh bottle for us. The place was empty for a Friday night and it was extremely hot compared to the freezing weather outside. The staff explained the hotel above controls the temperature inside so there wasn’t much they could do. The food was good, I loved the lobster bisque, my friend loved the salad, the filet and the salmon, both served with mashed potatoes & asparagus, were good but nothing out of the extraordinary. The creme brûlées were fine, a little bitter for my taste, probably the top sugar coat was too burned or they overdid the vanilla extract. I don’t know if I would comeback during the winter season (too hot to bare inside), but maybe I would give it another shot summertime or early fall.

The food we had was edamame and two sushi rolls. Both rolls were very good, they did not have a huge selection but they all looked great and were very fairly priced. We enjoyed the magic dragon roll and the Godzilla roll. The ambiance was very ince, the restaurant decor was fitting and pretty. The only reason for 4 stars is the bathrooms were not very clean, and the service and attentiveness was not all there. We would recommend a visit though. Thank you!

Cool spot. My party of 6 were all happy with our food. The Miso Tenderloin was great and the Chocolate Diva was amazing. Price wasn't terrible in my opinion.

I found this place through Googling and decided to give it a try since the reviews were pretty good. I am a big fan of scallops and crab cakes, so I ordered the crab cake and seared scallops. The crab cake was okay, but the $43 seared scallops were awful. There were only four small scallops, which weren’t fresh or sweet; instead, they tasted rubbery and overly salty. Some of the worst scallops I’ve had—definitely not worth $43!Definitely will not come back again.

This is one of the best restaurants I’ve tried in Time Square! The food and service was amazing! And I would definitely suggest getting Karwee as your waiter! He was personable and friendly.! We even got a pic with the gentleman.

Had the times square sushi roll was delicious had king crab in it would definitely recommend this The wedge salad was great and even the seasonal drinks were very tasty had the west side story with grapefruit juice a little tart but very good Great service right outside of times square definitely would hit this place

We decided just to grab some appetizers instead of dinner. We went with the crabcakes, calamari, bang, bang shrimp, lobster and crab roll and sea bass. All of the flavors were absolutely amazing and presentation was top-notch. Service was exceptional in the atmosphere was chill and inviting.

This place was one of the hardest places I've had to rate. The restaurant itself is beautiful and I loved the jellyfish lighting. We made reservations ahead. But while we were out exploring the city we received a text asking for a deposit to hold our reservation. We did not see it and when we got there our reservation was gone. They did still get us in which was great. Our waiter seemed very nice but maybe a little nervous. He might have been new. After we had already ordered and started eating we noticed that people around us were being told the specials of the evening. We were never told of any specials. Everyone else so seemed to be getting bread and we never got bread. Two of us had steak which was absolutely a 5 out of 5. Another member of our party had chicken which was dry and overcooked. The blueberry cheesecake for dessert was phenomenal. One member of our party had finished their steak but clearly had a large dish of mashed potatoes sitting in front of them. A woman, not our waiter, came up and scooped away his plate, knife & fork without asking if he was down or even pausing. Another member of our party gave him our extra fork to finish his potatoes. He pulled the side plate up where the dinner plate used to be and was working on the potatoes. A few minutes later the same woman came through and scooped up that dish and took it away even though it was half full. He was done eating so it was okay but we found the behavior very strange! It didn't seem very busy and they were a lot of empty tables but we definitely felt like we were hurried right out of there! The building was beautiful and I'm glad I got to experience this place once but I probably would not go back. Pretty expensive for what we got and I felt very rushed.

We had an amazing experience at Blue Fin. The food was great and our server Ria was phenomenal.

You know I love my birthday! So I was very excited when Joe took me to Blue Fin to celebrate. We got there a little before the hustle and bustle of actually dinner service so our server was very attentive and gave great and honest suggestions (which I always appreciate!). This has been sitting in my drafts for a while so it's hard for me to remember the details of the night but I remember leaving and thinking that I'd definitely be back. The restaurant is beautiful and great for a date night (or birthday ;) ).

Went here for my bday and the staff was very friendly and attentive. They made us feel very welcomed. The food was delicious! I got steak with a side of Brussel sprouts. The steak so tender! Loved the ambience, it was very chill.

Came here before a Broadway show and the food was very delicious. We got King crab fried rice, and three sushi rolls along with some oysters as the appetizer. The service was very friendly and very quick. They explain the menu and were very helpful. The restaurant itself is beautiful on the inside. We came right before New Year's and it was all still decorated and it's Christmas themed stuff so it was really pretty and fun.

What a great experience. Charles -Preston is a wonderful server who is very helpful and polite! The bacon is top tier The scallops are fantastic Wedge salad is amazing as well Nothing was bad and the place looks great. Highly recommend unless you're squeamish about Times Square and crowds, which I feel you on that.

Food was pretty good . The service was horrible. There was only 2 servers for the entire restaurant .

Located in the heart of times square and great location before a Broadway show. The decor is nice and service great. The food however was lacking. Everything we ordered was mediocre. Nothing was flavorful, the lobster was bland, fried rice meh, even the bang bang shrimp missed the bang. Best thing we had was the drinks...maybe it was just not the best night fir us

The restaurant itself looks beautiful! The interior and decors are very inviting. They also have a private dining room. The host and our server, Kenzie were super nice, attentive, and accommodating. Food was great as well. A must-try sushi/seafood restaurant!

Good place for pre theater! Right in Times Square but not touristy. Fun decor and good ambiance. Kale and cauliflower salad was delicious as were the entrees. Miso sea bass was a hit. Also sushi rolls and I had blackened branzino served with broccolini. Our server was excellent and we were not rushed to get to the theater. Well done!

For my meal, I ordered the Philadelphia roll and a specialty roll. The Philadelphia Roll, priced at $15, is a bit steeper than what I'm used to ($6-8) at a classic sushi joint. There isn't much of a difference between Blue Fin's Philly Roll, and those at lower prices, but you are, of course, paying for atmosphere. The real value, however, lies in the specialty rolls, ranging from $18 to $21. Considering the exceptional taste, quality, and the upscale atmosphere, these prices are fair and reflective of the overall dining experience. Absolutely wonderful place for dinner. I went with my husband and daughters. everything we had was very delicious. The atmosphere was great! Our server Ria was amazing! She made sure our drinks were always topped off and was quick to clear our table when we were finished with our plates. Decently priced for being in Time Square. It was comparable to what we would pay back home for a similar meal.

Went there for a group dinner. The place was pretty much empty. Surprisingly so for Times Square...but I can see why...read on. We had a private room with a set menu. We waited for a long time to get a drink. Not sure why. I had a glass of white wine. It was warm and barely drinkable. I tried another and it was ok but still warm! Sushi was served on a boat and there were also bruschetta and pork belly and shrimp. The pork belly was so salty it was inedible. Shrimp were quite limp. The sushi was so poor quality I did not even finish one piece. Poor start. The entree was the salmon on a bed of quinoa. Small was watery...not a term I have used for salmon before but it just was poorly cooked or a bad piece of fish but others had the same experience. Very disappointing return.

42nd was hiding one of The best restaurant in the city on that strip. Ever since that day i haven't been able to forget the food, The restaurant is absolutely beautiful ( the restroom was nasty not updated,the toilet was by far scary) my server was not only sweet he had so much knowledge about the food and recommended the best, the drinks was perfect i love and I'm in love with this restaurant

I wanted a shot and to use the restroom. I was ignored and told they didn't have restrooms. Once I walked in and order a shot their attitude changed. "Oh, the bathroom is over there sorry for earlier". I got charged $70 for 3 shots. Go back to school if you think your wage should be hirer. $70 for Jamison is crazy work when I couldn't even used a car restroom.

I ordered the pre-fixe dinner menu Pros: The atmosphere upstairs is upscale and calm. Food wise - I loved the salmon I had for dinner. The butterscotch bread pudding was DIVINE! I would highly recommend it. Cons: Our server was not the most knowledgeable or attentive. We had to ask for items several times. My lobster bisque was more like soup with large chunks of lobster in it. It was the most underwhelming part of my meal.

I had not been back to Blue Fin in a few years and looked forward to returning. The restaurant is attractive and comfortable. Our server was great - ahead was helpful and friendly, and readily accommodated our special requests. The food was inconsistent - the sushi was (as I remembered) excellent - their signature rolls were great - I particularly loved the Broadway Roll; many flavors - all of which melded quite well. The cooled offerings not so: The seared blackened scallops simply didn't work, although the concept was interesting. The salmon was a bit dry and overcooked. Overall we had a nice dinner, but not quite up to my memories.

Sat at the bar, kind service. Easy to modify sushi to be vegetarian and I had a pretty good mojito.

Creative and inventive seafood dishes that are well prepared. Contemporary atmosphere with a solicitous staff. Though the menu is concise, everything is creative and tasty.

Alejandra was our server and did a wonderful job. She was knowledgeable about the menu, cordial and personable. When we return, we will request her most definitely!

Everything was prepared perfectly at bluefin. And we so enjoyed Sophia as a waitress. We absolutely loved the oysters because they were prepared perfectly. Very fun and delicious!!

I will say that overall I enjoyed my dining experience; however, at the end, I visited their restrooms. They were abominable. I recall some head chefs saying if a restaurant's restroom is not clean and nice, leave immediately. These restrooms were some of the worst I've been in. Limited supplies in the stalls, not super clean, and only one soap dispenser had any soap in it with all of them rust covered. Please take care of this. It was an otherwise lovely evening.

I was craving for sushi, what a disappointment! back in the day it used to be to be great, i guess when it was ran by Mr Steve Hanson whom he knows how to run and take care of business. The maki rolls were bland and not tight enough every time i reach out for one they all brake apart, the ones that contained tempura shrimp in them, horrible! The shrimp was cold and chewy like a piece of cardboard not close to tempura!!i guess the sushi chef had them sitting there for long time or they cook a bunch of them ahead thinking that they would get busy. And i can keep on but i let the chefs and and managers to take carenof their game. The icing and cherry of the cake who knows how the kitchen cleanliness is if the bathrooms reflect/define clean, they're worst than a gas station!!You be the judge. Don't think i would go back!

We found this place by accident walking on Broadway. Upstairs is very quiet so different from the crowds on Broadway. Oysters Bienville was very good. So was the sea bass with crab add on. Nicely decorated for Christmas and I loved the jelly fish lamps over the stairs. The staff was warm and friendly. Perfect place for before a Broadway show. The scallops on a bed of roasted tasty kernel corn were excellent. Just liked hanging out there.

Good food in a surprising location, tucked away from the mania of Times Square. Halibut bites were delicious.

Called in reservation at 1:30 pm for a 7:45pm dinner, stating that it was for our wedding engagement that day. Not a single person acknowledged our engagement and were sat at a lousy table (especially for a pre set engagement reservation). The restaurant wasn't busy so no good excuse for the lousy table. Also they charged my pregnant girlfriend the same price for her mocktail as the normal price of that same cocktail. $17 for a mocktail with no liquor?!?! That's tacky! Food was good but felt a bit rushed at the end of the night. If your restaurant says that it closes at 9pm, that means that's when the kitchen closes at every other restaurant in NYC. Here it means that's when the doors shut. The whole experience should have been so much better for the price point and the special occasion.

Came to this restaurant for my sisters birthday, we were initially attracted to the it because of its pretty decor. The service was really quick and our server ,tristian, was very helpful and kind. Not only was the place so pretty, the food was also very good. I was pleasantly surprised by the Mac and cheese, it was soooo cheesy. If you're A Mac and cheese lover like me then I'd definitely recommend you get it. The sushi was fresh and the drinks were strong. They gave us a dessert on the house with happy birthday written around it for my sister which was really sweet of them to do.

Sophia was fantastic! Everything was exceptional, especially the seared scallops which were exquisite. The lobster bisque was also incredibly delicious.

For Times Square this place gets 4 stars easy. The food quality + taste is much better than expected and far better than most places in the area. And even more surprisingly, the price was not outrageous either for a party of 4. The Mac and cheese and parmesan fries were our favorites but everything else was good too! Service was prompt and there was plenty of seating. This would be good to go with a crowd, even on short notice I think they could probably manage. Definitely recommend.

I ordered the Salmon it was horrible EXCEPT the mac & cheese. Service was horrible too. We had to keep looking for the waitress. Ambiance was beautiful. Will not go again.

This place has a stunning and relaxing ambiance to it. As soon as you walk in, the staff and atmosphere are very warm and welcoming. My favorite thing on the menu is their lobster bisque. It's one of the best that I have had in NYC. Would definitely recommend as a place to try.

Let me jump this review off by saying the ONLY reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is because the amount of sesame oil used in the fried rice, frankly it was uncalled for, other than that this place is some G-A-S, GAS!! BIG DERICK, not the little one, our server was amazing! Kind and attentive, stylish glasses with such soft eyes! My fiance and I let Derick guide us through our culinary journey at Blue Fin. Started us off with bang bang shrimp and crab cakes. Shrimp tasted so fresh I could still hear them begging for mercy, not an ounce of filler in those crab cakes, they are 99.99% crab, save the .1 for the garnish. For the main I doubled up on the hot stone Wagyu, that A5 a real taste of opulence, paired that with the crab fried rice. Ifey had the surf and turf with the loaded baked potatoe, she left her plate looking like a feed the children ad, bare! That's how fire the food was. Back to the fried rice tho, a little less sesame oil, and a likkle more soy sauce and hosin and you got yourself a certified banger! Let's take a stroll to dessert land. That creme brewlay FIRE, tasted like dreams and comfort! Butter scotch bread pudding tasted like the worlds greatest French toast, each bite hugging your tongue like the thick girl that smell good omg! Hurry up and go to blue fin

i've been wanting to go to this restaurant for a while finally made it tonight and I'm glad I did. I had the salmon and Greek salad. It was very good also a baked potato with everything on the side and a chocolate diva cake which was outstanding the decor upstairs was very comfortable and nice and I really like the lights that look like jellyfish decoration. wait staff was nice. Service was a little slow but I have plenty of time before the show so I wasn't worried. Good location right in the center of Times Square. Easy to get from there to the theaters. They have a pretheater dinner for $69

We were looking for some good raw oysters and Blue Fin filled our quest. The crab cake had a perfect texture and the blend of it's creation was very good. Light and tender. We sat up at the bar on the second level and received wonderful service. It was a bit later in the evening, but not yet happy hour so it was quieter, which is what we were looking for that evening

It's not like it was- I've been going to the restaurant since it opened, but after COVID, something changed. During our visit on December 10th, 2022, we left because, after an hour, they still needed to deliver our meal. I was frustrated and surprised. On the evening of December 9th, I decided to try them again. Unfortunately, we were let down. Although I liked the meal- it took 15 minutes to get the server's attention- after the dinner was delivered, we were left on our own- no check-in to see if we needed more to drink, water, or to see how we liked our meal. I am sorry to say that I cannot recommend what used to be a great restaurant. Although we liked the food, the service needed to be improved.

On a non busy night we, a party of 2, were greeted by a sullen hostess. We were seated and ignored for 15 minutes. The table was dirty. When the waitress sauntered over, there was no I'm sorry for your wait or anything. The service was abysmal. She was chewing gum like cud and was extremely nonchalant. When the food, we ordered mussels, came out they were bland and under temperature. I will not be going back again and will be contacting corporate.

Food was delicious. The floor was slippery with grease. Someone will fall if it is not properly mopped. Our table had been poorly cleaned. There was something greasy on it as if they cleaned at our booth but didn't reach all the way to the back of the booth. I cannot risk a fall so I will not be back.

The food was outstanding. But what was wrong with us? Did our breath stink? I was friendly and smiley; is that frowned upon in NYC? Our server all but ignored us the entire time. We had to ask every support staff person to have him come over. We would have gladly bought more drinks and even dessert but our server 100% ghosted us. Boo hoo. Scallops were outstanding, tho.

Ezra was amazing, the sushi and steak was fantastic. Place is absolutely gorgeous. Highly recommend!

Blue Fin does what it needs to! the service is wonderful I just wish the menu mirrored how great the staff is.

I would leave negative stars if it was an option. The bartender just left our hot to-go food sitting out for 15 minutes and our food took forever to come out. He also got our order wrong as well. It was completely dead so i don't know why it was such a long wait. The fish here also isnt fresh AT ALL. Canned tuna and sardines taste better than this place. Management is completely rude and talked to us very disrespectfully. The manager, Dean especially made very rude remarks to us and was very unprofessional. Wouldn't recommend this place to my greatest enemy. If blue fin has no haters then i'm dead. Please get a new bartender and manager asap.

First and foremost, Cayton, our waiter was absolutely phenomenal and while the experience was great, he's the reason I'm leaving a review. Will be requesting him every time I come back. Absolutely in love with the aesthetics of this restaurant. Hats off to whoever chose the decor for this restaurant, it really deserves recognition! As per the food, it was fantastic. We had two appetizers, the bang bang shrimp and the calamari. Both were very tasty and the portions, especially for Times Square, were generous. The sushi roll we had was okay but the cocktails made up for it. Definitely will be stopping by again!

Had a reservation with my wife for Christmas Eve. Seated without issue. Overall service was subpar. The sushi chef didn't make what we ordered and then claimed it was. We ordered peppercorn-seared tuna nigiri (me) and sashimi (wife). What we got was spicy tuna, that they claimed was what we ordered. The server agreed with us, but said there was nothing he could do. It was very disappointing that a restaurant of the caliber has sushi chefs that don't know the difference. I would not go back to this restaurant..

Wow nothing but great things to say about Blue Fin. Escape the hustle and bustle of Times Square and relax in this gorgeously posh quiet space with attentive, professional staff. Denise, my bartende, was amazing. Drinks were delicious. Will definitely return!

Greetings and salutations yelpers. Visited to celebrate moms birthday. The ambiance, setting very elegant. Located in Times Square a very trendy upscale seafood restaurant. The food was amazing, the staff exceptional. From appetizers, to main course to dessert every bite was exceptional. Mom enjoyed her dinner immensely.

food was excellent and our server was nice, fun and helpful. ask for Karwee. We've been here many times before theatre and timing is perfect.

After visiting the restaurant multiple times, I can confidently say that it is home to some of the freshest fish in NYC and the most well-trained waiters/waitressrs. I've seated upstairs each time I have been here, and the ambience is incredible - great lighting, good spacing of the tables, comfortable booths and chairs. That said, in addition to a great meal on July 6th, I'd like to give a shoutout to KARWEE, our incredible server! He was attentive, patient, quick, and funny. He even cracked enough jokes to get us to get more food! I look forward to seeing him next time I'm back and enjoying some more amazing sushi.
