I've passed this place so many times, whether im driving by or visiting the restaurants nearby... I've always been curious as to how good it is.
I've always seen that The parking is awful so I never had a chance to pop by until yesterday. Family dinner and I was excited to finally visit the spot I've been wondering about for years now.
I'll start off by saying our server, Richard was phenomenal. We were a party of 13, and he handled it like a champ. He was 100% on point and we definitely showed our appreciation to him.
As far as ambiance, the place is nice. Because we were in a large group we had the room, but the rest of the restaurant seemed nice. It's a little tight, but that's to be expected. I will say that an actual bluefish or something to play on their name would add a nice touch.
With the food, I won't say i was dissatisfied, but I also wasn't particularly impressed. Everything ordered was decent, but there was nothing that popped out and gave me the "oh I gotta go back there" that I was somewhat hoping for.
One of the things that annoyed me is the happy hour menu that they offer has items that are only available if you sit at the bar. Especially when the happy hour menu has some gooodd options, but if you're seated where we were..... you can't order them. A bummer.
Out of 8 entrees ( the other meals were kids hamburgers) everyone sampled everyone's food and we mingled about the table. There was plenty variety from oysters, to fried green tomatoes, sock it to me shrimp, chicken picatta, some salad, to the key lime pie for dessert. Now the key lime pie was off the chain...so was the homemade ranch!
Complimentary bread is brought to the table, but the butter is cold and hard and didn't really contribute any flavor to the bread that's already bland. Some warm garlic butter would be a great addition to the menu, since the butter that comes out with the oysters is this way.
Overall, would I come back? Maybe ... but I can't say it would be my first or second choice. However I did enjoy my evening at The Blue Fish.
