The Best Happy Hours in Denver | Eater Denver

"A true neighborhood haunt, this Cherry Creek seafood spot reels ’em in with happy “hours” longer than some establishments are open for business, stretching from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. Think 30 percent off all wines by the glass, $4 to $5 off a wide range of cocktails, and several bucks off the likes of deviled eggs with trout roe, fried calamari, and steamed mussels in yellow curry." - Ruth Tobias

Google
One of my favorite restaurants. Truthfully I love both locations and their sister restaurant. Amazing to get awesome oysters right here in CO. Literally crave this place. Everything is delicious! Chowder, calamari, togarashi fries, fish, posters, caviar, salads, pasta, sandwiches, sushi... I think I've had most everything on the menu. Not too mention the truffle martini!!! 😍 I was really sad when they got rid of the rewards program, but I'll survive.

Google
Great food and atmosphere! The server was awesome and attentive. Jackson B. gave us free extra bread and when he delivered the wrong item, he gave it to use for free and brought the right item. Note: the happy hour menu prices are a little off. Just a dollar off. Ex: pineapple mule, menu: 9.50, charged 10.50, guavo Cosmo, menu: 10.50, charged 11.50.

Google
First time here, it was amazing! Our server Felix was very helpful in deciphering the menu for us and was very prompt in taking our order. The food was incredible and was all worth the price. It was a great experience and I would love to dine here again!

Google
Everything we ate was delicious. We almost went back a 2nd night but we decided to experiment at other places as well. We will most definitely go back.

Google
Bring a nautical attitude because this place will make you feel like you're a sailor in the North Atlantic. The happy hour is a solid deal and the food is wonderful. The curry mussels were fantastic.

Went with my husband for the restaurant week for the first time and it was an amazing experience. Everything was delicious. We will come back for sure.

Google
Delicious seafood place. They have really good refreshing cocktails! I had the lobster roll. It was good, but I would have liked a little more flavor. The claim chowder was my favorite! They have seating inside and out. We went for lunch so it wasn't too crowded but if you go for dinner I suggest making a reservation. I will be returning to try more!

Google
I love visiting this restaurant; it's one of my favorites! It's a bit pricey, but definitely worth every penny. We always used to get the gnocchi, but unfortunately, they discontinued it. However, they still have amazing dishes! We tried the shrimp and ahi tuna tacos, along with the corn chowder, which is hands down the best I've ever had. We also enjoyed the clam Thai dish with some bread. Plus, they offer oysters for just 99 cents after 9 PM, so we indulged in a few of those as well!

Yelp
Rocky Mountain oyster's? If you want to get an oyster fix but can't get to the coast this is your spot. The oyster's are very good despite being quite far from their home. The lobster has good texture and is well prepared. The calamari appetizer was really flavorful. It had a slaw and some nice mildly spicy peppers with a not too sweet dressing. My daughter enjoyed her fish and chips. She described the fish as having a more dense breading. My wife had a surf and turf salad with wagyu beef and shrimp with she thoroughly enjoyed. For drinks, I had a Paloma which was very well made. Nice and bright. My wife enjoyed the iced tea. Some might think this trite but it's amazing how what an afterthought this is at many restaurants. My daughter thinks the martini's here are consistently some of the best she's had. All said, this is a very good place for a special occasion and the happy hour is well worth a trip.

Yelp
Food is always delicious but this place is a perfect example of "SHRINKFLATION". Been here several times but the happy hour portions are almost half of what it used to be. My $12 thai calamari had 10 and 1/2 pieces. Means i paid $1.14 for each ring of calamari and that's crazy. Drinks are also more expensive. $12 drinks aren't HH prices... Chowder soup is also 30% smaller than it used to be. Don't think my friends and i are going back anytime soon.

Yelp
The food was good but could be better. We started off with the clam chowder and calamari. The clam chowder was probably the best thing we had, they are not lying when they say it's the city's best clam chowder. Do yourself a favor and order this! The calamari was unique, we never had any calamari like this. It had an asian twist to it, instead of your typical lemon juice drizzle they use orange and sesame - similar flavor to an orange chicken is the best way I can describe it. Because of how different and flavorful it was, I liked it! For the main cause, we split the Filet Mignon and pan-roasted striped bass. The filet mignon and the pan toasted striped bass was good but what I liked the most was the butternut squash risotto that came with the bass. Again, the risotto is super unique like nothing I've had, super flavorful, and super good! Besides the clam chowder, the best part of the meal was the key lime pie. Their key lime pie is to die for. I would come back just for their clam chowder soup and key lime pie!

Yelp
I love eating out...and always seek out amazing places. Blue Island oyster is a favorite!!! Consistently perfect...great atmosphere, happy customers and the food is excellent!!! (And we are in denver!!! Not by the ocean!!) I haven't had the brunch yet but I've heard it's incredible!!! My goal is to try everything on the menu....hard tho, because it's hard to not order my favorites!!!!

Yelp
located in a great area, cherry creek, surrounded by restaurants and great shops. The ambiance is very nice and intimate. We enjoyed everything about this place. The service was great, attentive and friendly. The drinks were very good. I really enjoyed the presentation of my martini; half poured into my martini glass and a little vase placed in an ice bowl to keep the remaining drink nice and chilled. I thought that was a nice touch. We started with a salad, oysters and ciabatta bread, all were good. The main highlight were our main courses. I had the prosciutto wrapped halibut over creamed spinach and my husband had the clams linguini. Both were very good, nice flavors and generous portions. Great place to celebrate a special occasion.

Yelp
My recent visit to Blue Island Oyster Bar in Cherry Creek for their Friday 2pm Happy Hour was nothing short of delightful. Nestled in the bustling Cherry Creek neighborhood, the convenience began even before stepping inside, with street parking available at a mere $2.00 through PayByPhone, adding to the hassle-free start of our gastronomic adventure. Arriving a tad early (1:45pm) for the Happy Hour specials, we decided to dive into the regular cocktail menu, where "The Good Thyme" cocktail immediately caught our eye. True to its name, it was indeed a 'good time,' so much so that we ordered another round even though it wasn't on the HH menu without a second thought. The drink's perfect blend of flavors set a high bar for the rest of the afternoon. As for the food, (we did get off the HH menu) we opted for the salmon sliders and the signature Blue Island fish taco, both of which were exemplary in taste and presentation. The salmon sliders were a hit, with just the right balance of flavors to complement the seafood without overpowering it. The fish taco was equally impressive, living up to its 'signature' status with every bite offering a burst of fresh and savory notes. No visit to an oyster bar would be complete without sampling the oysters. And by sampling I mean sharing 1.5 dozen. The oysters were simply delicious, and served with a variety of accompaniments that enhanced their natural flavors. This was a highlight of our visit, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality and freshness. The atmosphere of Blue Island Oyster Bar during our visit was pleasantly calm, making it an ideal spot for those looking to escape the usual hustle and bustle of Cherry Creek. It wasn't overly busy, allowing for a more relaxed dining experience where we could truly savor each dish and drink. Our server was very attentive. Highly recommend coming here on a Friday afternoon if you are in the area.

Yelp
As the weather heats up, this is a great option for sitting outside on the patio. Being at the bar is also a great option. My sister and I enjoyed a lovely lunch on the patio sipping on white wine and eating lobster rolls. Great place for fresh seafood. My parents live in Cherry Creek and they frequent this restaurant often. Oysters, cocktails, wine, & fish! What more could you want

Yelp
Great place in uptown Denver! The oysters were delicious and the service was friendly even though we got there shortly before closing. Their happy hour is amazing too! Great deals. The vibe is fun and trendy but the music can be a little loud. A standout for me was their lobster roll :)

Yelp
Oysters? In the Rockies??? I love walking over to Blue Island for their great HH. From a boy that grew up on the west coast eating thousands of fresh oysters straight from Johnson's Oyster Farm in Tomales Bay I know a bit about these ugly beasts. Blue Island has some of the freshest oysters I have ever tasted. The liquor is so fresh and briny it brought me back to Stinson Beach. Their two sauces served with them was fantastic! Actually every dish we had was superb: Smoked trout dip was perfect with an onion glaze on top ( those chips were yummy). Great fried Clams nice and light and not greasy. Peel and eat shrimp were plump and juicy. Fantastic Cocktails Ahhhhmazing friendly service. If you happen to be in Cherry Creek North stop by and treat yourself

Yelp
This is a lovely place in a great neighborhood! In town visiting my nephew and fam; he decided to take us to one of his favorite seafood restaurants. Blue Island didn't disappoint! Everything was delicious! Fresh! And the service was top notch! Whenever I'm in town.. trust me I will be sure to stop in.

Yelp
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Blue Island Oyster Bar and Seafood Restaurant, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. A couple of us arrived ahead of the rest of our larger party, and the ambiance was open and inviting. We sat at the bar, which provided just the right amount of space. We started off by indulging in their drink menu, and I opted for the blood orange margarita, which was absolutely divine. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and the tequila was just right. When it came to the food, we decided to explore a variety of options that were suggested to us. We began with the crispy fish sandwich, the burger slider, and the teriyaki salmon slider. Each dish was prepared with care and packed with delicious flavors. The sandwiches were cooked to perfection, and the sliders offered a delightful combination of spicy and sweet. While I thoroughly enjoyed everything we tried, the only regret I have is not trying their oysters. However, this gives me something to look forward to on my next visit. I've heard rave reviews about their oysters, and I can't wait to experience them for myself. The service throughout our visit was kind and prompt, which added to the overall experience of the evening. The combination of outstanding service, delicious food, and drink selection made it a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend Blue Island Oyster Bar and Seafood Restaurant to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience. I can't wait to return and indulge in their famous Oysters.

Yelp
Best seafood I've had in a while! The baked oysters were absolutely delicious and the best I've had in a long time. The bread was nice and crusty and went perfectly with the clam chowder which could have a been a bit warmer for me. The deviled eggs were so good with the roe on top. My drink was crisp and delicious! The service was great. We celebrated my birthday so we were able to get a nice desert. The ambiance was great although a little loud for the evening but we were sitting pretty close to another table. I look forward to coming back for more oysters!

Yelp
More of the most underrated talents in the Hospitality business is a good memory. Linda at blue Island has a phenomenal memory! Her service is top-notch and of course the food is always great! Thank you, Linda!

Yelp
We had some yummy dishes off the happy hour! The Curry Cauliflower was amazing! Great flavors. Sounds silly but you'll need to ask for a spoon, not sure why they don't serve it with one because you'll want the sauce! Our waiter John was decent but Brent or Bret (I'm sorry I can't remember which one it was) went above and beyond for us. He gave us ever thing we needed and even told us how we could make our experience better for the next time we came! We ordered some shared dishes, lobster roll and the salmon salad. Apparently they will split the meals for you! So just ask! The atmosphere was great, super chill with a killer soundtrack playing!

Yelp
I really liked this place, although it will set you back a few bucks for sure!! We ordered primarily off the happy hour menu & we went all out frankly, we ordered a lot!! It's hard to say what my favorite thing we ordered was because everything was really good. If I had to pick, I would say the Ahi fish taco or the clam chowder as my favorite. But everything was really good. The service was good, the waiter was nice. Our food came out in a decent period of time & the place has a nice upscale vibe, with nice decor. All in all I was very happy, until the bill came... Just kidding, it does cost some coin but tgat is to be expected at a place like this! Happy eating!!

Yelp
My husband and I came for lunch. It was Lobster Wednesday so the lobster rolls were only $19.00. We ordered 1/2 doz assorted raw oyster's all were very fresh and delicious. Next was grilled octopus with chorizo and potatoes. Excellent! Finally we had the lobster roll. Classic with butter & chives. Very good. Loved the fries also.

Yelp
Final meal at BIOB for a whiiiile since we're moving soon and man was it an amazing one. Shoutout to John for taking care of us on the patio last night. He was so friendly and on point with food timing and checking in on us! We arrived in time for Happy Hour and didn't even realize! Had to take advantage. This time around we ordered: *4 glasses of Veuve Clicquot (40% off during HH!) *2 Love This City pilsners *A bunch of oysters (20?) + side of caviar to top 'em *2 oyster shooters *Yellow curry mussels *Crispy Brussels sprouts *Shrimp cocktail *Fried surf clams w/ shoestring fries *Royal white sturgeon caviar service *2 Siberian sturgeon caviar services we love the caviar prices and accompaniments here a ton. the blinis are killer and remind me of a lepina (shoutout fellow Bosnians/balkan folks!) Fried surf clams w/fries are my favorite thing here, and the herby tarter dip that comes with is gooood. Brussels sprouts are a must every time. Everything here is a hit tbh. Really hoping we find a restaurant with a menu/HH menu even half as cool and diverse as this one. SHINE ON, YOU BEAUTIFUL SEAFOOD LOVERS!

Yelp
Dad wanted seafood for his birthday and my sister said this restaurant was really good. I trust her tastes, and this place has happy hour (which is always a bonus). I love that they have a wide variety of items available for happy hour. In our party of four, we all ordered from that menu, (dad ordered the fried shrimp off the main menu). Our selections included the crispy fish slider, which was sizeable and tasted amazing; the thai glazed shrimp taco, which was small, but the flavor made up for the size; the thai calamari, which is more like a calamari salad and it was so good that we ordered another one for the table; the crispy brussels sprouts and the potato chips, which were served with a blue chees fondue. I asked for more so I could dips the chips (it comes served topped with the fondue, but dipping is a must). The happy hour drink prices are reasonable ($8.99 for cocktails, 40% off all wines by the glass) and while I ordered the blood orange margarita, my dad ordered an old fashioned and I wanted his drink. I've only been drinking bourbon a few years and if that's how all old fashioned are made, I'll order one every time! Overall, anytime I'm in Denver, I'm coming here to eat.

Yelp
Excellent lunch here today. By far our favorites were the smoked trout dip, curry mussels and the spicy pear mules. We also ordered the gnocchi, Ceasar salad and the lobster & avocado salad (which for some reason did not come with any avocado, so I asked for a side and it was brought) While these were all okay, I would not order them again. In addition we had the oyster and Bloody Mary shooters and the blood orange margarita. Both very good. But we will absolutely be back for the mussels and mules soon! Good service and easy parking in the garage across the street.

Yelp
Ah yes: the latest restaurant ruined by a 4% ambiguous service fee. My last of many visits, sadly. Restaurants levy this surcharge under a deceitful camouflage of "closing wage disparities" or addressing "supply chain" or "inflation" issues. How very sweet of them. Make no mistake: this could be accomplished by raising menu prices by the same 4%. Why don't they do it? There are so many reasons! Skimping out on employment taxes. Paying less into the unemployment pool. Operating without transparency (after all, who's to say where those funds actually wind up?). Artificially depressing the posted job wages required by state law. And so on. So here's an idea: instead of scamming patrons by sliding this into the shellfish allergy boilerplate, just pay your staff what they deserve and charge accordingly? Can't do that? Maybe it's time to let someone else run a better establishment.

Yelp
We made reservations for 3 on a Tue night and we were seated right away. We chose the outside patio seating since it was a beautiful warm night with a cool breeze. We ordered the oysters but they came stuffed and it was decent but the stuffing drowned the oysters so I would've rather had the oyster by itself with a little bit of butter. My main meal of the salmon and crab cake was delicious. Fresh crab and not imitation. The salmon was seared in the outside for a little bit of crisp but soft and moist on the inside. It came with very tasty potato bites. I also got the frutti fresco for the drink and it was very tasty. The service was good and prices weren't bad for the good food. We were all full from our meals.

Yelp
About a 3.5./5. Our first time in was for dinner during Restaurant Week. We were seated promptly and our server was very friendly and attentive. We went with: - Apps: smoked trout dip, Thai fried calamari - Mains: Lobster roll, alamosa bass with butternut squash risotto - Desserts: blood orange olive oil cake, key lime pie - Some a la carte oysters Overall, it was a good meal. Nothing was phenomenal, but nothing was really bad. The calamari was super fried and we couldn't really taste the actual squid; it was a tasty dish, but almost like the actual seafood was masked by other flavors. The portion of the bass was very small, but that may have been an altered for restaurant week -- the risotto was incredibly rich and filled us up despite the small fish portion. The key lime pie was delicious! Our server was great. Another staff member touched my back while seating us, and I noticed this person doing the same seating other guests. Not a huge deal and probably a bit of personal preference when it comes to these things, but I found it off-putting. It is Cherry Creek, so leave plenty of time to find parking!

Sean M.

Yelp
We had lunch on the patio and ordered the 3 course option. It was all dismally pathetic. The fries were cold, the 'lobster roll' was tasteless and sad, and the accompanying cole slaw was imaginative but in the most unappealing way. The martini was good and exactly in the way that cold vodka in a class usually is. Still...bravo!

Yelp
This has been a place that's been on my list for awhile but never had a chance to go. Now I'm wondering why I waited so long. This is a step above my usual happy hour spot in quality and dinning experience. The food came out so fast I was shocked. And the flavors were everything. The ahi tuna taco was good and the fish was fresh. The Thai mussels surprised me in a good way. The flavor was nice and we got extra juice to soak up all the juice at the bottom. The one downfall was that much of the mussels dish was empty shells and not nearly as many mussels as you'd think would be in the bowl. My friend enjoyed the lobster roll slider and I enjoyed the clam chowder. Top tier clam chowder. It wasn't overly salty and had great flavor. But of course we had to get oysters. The raw and the roasted were all so tasty. The star of the show was the trout dip. If I could eat one thing forever, this would be it. The juxtaposition of homemade chips, savory trout, and decadent jam was just *chefs kiss* so good. At this point we debating ordering dessert or another trout dip. We went for dessert. And we're not disappointed. The key lime pie was rich with lime but had this graham cracker crust that created such tender balance. I ate so much but was so happy with each thing I tried. I cannot wait to go back. I will say that the bill does rack up quickly if you don't want to leave hungry so keep that in mind. The happy hour menu is where all these options were ordered from. (Except dessert). We went pretty early in the day and we're seated quickly. The seating area was not too full but I can imagine at dinner time it gets packed.

Yelp
First time I ate lunch here with a business client. Perfectly cooked food, and the service was exceptional, thanks to the server, Dylan (I was dressed in a blue suit and tie for the biz mtg). I will be back!

Yelp
The only place in Denver I have found that serves raw clams on the half shell! The fried clams are also delicious, perfectly shucked fresh oysters and terrific lobster rolls, it is a must try if you like seafood!
google avatar

Yelp
YUM!! Came in for happy hour and Brian was a delightful server! We had a great time enjoying oysters and drinks before we had lobster rolls. Loved it! Will be back.

La Monica W.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is inviting, the staff are so professional and attentive and the food was amazing. Recommend ten fold.

Yelp
We were here during restaurant week. $45 / person for dinner. As starter we started with clam chowder and a fritter. We tried their oysters and they were very fresh- highly recommend. For entrees we got lobster roll and sea bass. The lobster roll had too much celery. But the sea bass was tasty. Dessert was okay. We tried the blood orange olive cake. It was underwhelming. Overall great service and their oysters more than make up for the dessert.

Yelp
Took my grandmother here for her 95th birthday. With a reservation we were able to get right in on a Saturday. The food was delicious! It's a bit on the expensive end, but you certainly get what you pay for. Fish and chips were amazing, steak medallions were some of the best I've had, and their cocktails are top notch. Service matched the food. The wait staff were great, and my grandmother got a free dessert for her birthday. The host was so impressed that my grandma is in such good shape and chose to eat there for her 95th that she asked her for a hug as she left. My wife and I plan to drive here from Castle Rock again for a date night in the future. Only downside? Parking can be a pain, but that's more of a product of location than it is the restaurant's fault.

Yelp
Came in for lunch with a friend for their Veteran's Day Special of up to $40 for an entree with a nonalcoholic beverage. Our server was Ashleigh and she was very attentive, courteous and efficient. I ordered a Frutti Fresca and it was so yummy! We then ordered a lemon drop martini and a house martini-both were well-prepared, strong and refreshing! I chose the seared jumbo scallops as my entree and my friend chose the burger slider with a Caesar salad. Both were delicious, delicious, delicious! We ended this awesome meal sharing a generous slice of key lime pie with coffee. The key lime pie was so creamy and the best one I have tasted in Denver!

Yelp
Blue Island Oyster Bar & Seafood in Cherry Creek District. Appetizers ordered: Ricotta Gnocchi Truffle Mornay, Parmesan, Chives Thai Curry Mussels Yellow Coconut Curry, Cilantro, Ciabatta Bread Grilled Spanish Octopus Chorizo Vinaigrette, Crispy Potato Entrees ordered, Fried Jumbo Wild Gulf Shrimp Served with House Made Slaw, Fresh Dill Tartar Sauce Ahi Tuna Taco Wasabi Slaw, Ponzu Clam Chowder Soup Review, The place has an upscale feel and was not too busy for a Saturday. Plenty of staff but that being said service was just ok. Appetizers were good. The Octopus was probably the most disappointing. The presentation was odd but the mix of potatoes just did not work. The Gnocchi was quite good... denser than I preferred but the cheese flavoring was excellent. The Thai Mussels were excellent. If you go just for that it's a win. The claim chowder was great, shrimps were good but the breading they used was a little off. I would have preferred more of a panko type breading but that's me. The tacos were good. Over all I left there full but at 65.00 roughly per person for lunch not sure if it lived up to the hype.

Yelp
SO WONDERFUL! Staff are great and ambiance is wonderful! I loved the blood orange margarita. We also had the Brussels sprouts, deviled eggs and happy hour oysters and it was all DELICIOUS!! 5/5 for sure

Yelp
Always try to get a seat at the bar where I get their frosty, vodka martini with a truffle salt rim. Haven't gone off the main menu, but the happy hour items have always been excellent: oysters, Togarashi Fries, fried surf clams. Same bartenders have been there for a while and are usually quick but always knowledgeable and friendly.
google avatar

Karlos P.

Yelp
I would give it a 3.5 The service was really good and the place is nice. Parking wise is difficult or else you pay $10-$20. I went there for happy hour Sunday. The oyster is fresh but they are all babies. Absolutely no meat on them. For $2.25 each, it is robbing. 3/10 The clam is really good. Fresh and crunchy. 1-2 has some sands but it is tolerable. I will give it a 12/10 Curry mussels: bread is good and sauce is ok. Mussel is not the freshest but then it is Colorado. They are a bit mushy. 6/10 Fried surf clam: the batter is done perfectly and fries also very good. But surf clam is also mushy. 6/10 Old fashion: 8/10 Manhattan (recommended by server): 10/10

Yelp
It was a very good selection with great flavors, but extremely over priced. They nickel and dime everything, so watch yourself. Unless you have a thick wallet, this is not the place for you.

Yelp
We came for a girls happy hour and had great drinks, wonderful attentive service and very yummy food! If you love seafood this is your place. All items we ordered were fresh, presented beautifully and service was on point. Specialty lobster rolls were eaten, with a delicious slaw. I had a pear/ mule and it was a lovely cocktail. The fried sushi rolls we ate were very tasty and mussels in a curry broth were quite lovely. We sopped it all up- enjoyed by all of us.

Yelp
This continues to be our go-to spot for lunch - the food is absolutely amazing. Today I had the surf and turf salad and it was really good. We started with the calamari and trout dip (first time having the dip, it was good)! One of my other go-to orders is the Caesar salad (with shrimp or calamari). Just be warned if you order calamari on your salad it comes with a LOT (I end up taking the extra home). The lobster roll is also really good (CT or NE style) and there's a special on Wednesday on them ($10 off). Keep up the great work!

Yelp
The service was awesome. The oysters were fresh and delicious. The old-fashioned was made with Jim Beam, not a favor. It was well managed. Had both raw oysters, and also baked oysters, salad. Deviled eggs were awesome. It's just a very nice restaurant to get fresh oysters at. And great service. They deserve five stars.

Yelp
I've been trying to go to this restaurant for a year, and I finally did. I loved the clam chowder and the cod sandwich. My waiter was super friendly and knowledgeable. George, the bartender has a smile and appeared he loved his job. No wait time to get a drink and he followed up and he was very charming I will return

Yelp
Didn't have reservations but space at the bar was open. We didn't realize it's Restaurant Week first night in Denver. Husband ordered the three course prix fixe menu. Fresh oysters everywhere and the shoestring fries, lobster rolls so fresh and delicious. Can't wait to return because they have so many items I want to try!

Yelp
Love this place. 10/10 for food. Have eaten here many times deserving of a 5 star review. Today was disappointing however (hence the review). Felt like I was buying a pack of cigarettes from a gas station when ordering from the bar. New bartender/shucker team at the bar was way too uninvolved. Customers willing to pay more expect more than an experience that emulates that of a subway

Yelp
Not pictured: calamari with the spicy tangy sauce was so good!! Dessert and apps were great! Calamari sauce was so yummy with a little kick to it! Overall entrees were good but not great. Bass didn't have much flavor but risotto was yummy. My boyfriend's steak was a little undercooked but the shrimp and potatoes were good. Overall good experience with great service!

Yelp
Stopped into this Cherry Creek staple for a business lunch that turned into a seafood feast. They offer a special menu for Restaurant Week. We ended up having three dozen oysters because they were only $1 each. This is quite the deal for Denver where prices can easily be $3 and up. Everything we ate was excellent and we were stuffed. The grilled octopus and Maine Lobster roll were standouts. You can order the latter to-go!

Yelp
Food and ambiance was really lovely. But like others have shared, definitely pay attention to how you are charged or you will be sticker shocked. I came with a friend for Happy Hour on a Wednesday afternoon and somehow the bill came to $160 (not including tip)! We ordered two entrees based on the server's recommendation, as we had the DiningOut Passbook deal (buy one get one free entree). The server suggested the $49 Sea Bass and $37 Lobster Roll. The Sea Bass (especially the gnocchi) was very good!! The Lobster Roll was pretty good, but can't compare to some other seafood spots in Denver (Maine Shack, Mason's Famous Lobster Rolls). I did notice (after the fact) that the Sea Bass was the most expensive item on the menu. While we arrived at 4:30pm during Happy Hour (when wines were 40% off), around 6:15pm, we decided to stay longer and got another glass each. We had no idea the price since the server also made recommendations for the wine -- chardonnay was $25 per GLASS and rose was $14! Would have been nice had the server mentioned that HH was over or at least told us how much these wines were. But I suppose that's on us for not paying attention. As she was taking our order, she also asked if we wanted an appetizer. My friend was interested in the fries, but then noticed the lobster roll came with fries, so we said we were good with no appetizers. Anyway, the server must have missed that, as she brought out FRIES! And again we were charged an additional $8 for those, ending up with a lot of leftover fries. It all added up very quickly! I did really enjoy the overall feel of the restaurant but next time will definitely pay more attention to how we are charged and how much everything costs. As my friend was visiting from out of town, I wanted to get the bill. $192 total for two people who came for happy hour and had a coupon! Oy...

Yelp
I went here on a Saturday evening , 5ish we were early for our reservation. To my surprise they had our table already set up with an already busy restaurant. My family and I shared lots of appetizers including; the Thai mussels, peel and eat shrimp, deviled eggs, ahi tuna taco, Caesar salad, shrimp cocktail and a lobster roll. The shrimp was definitely a hit as well as the Cesar salad. Good quality food and service. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
Just Ok and when it comes to seafood and expensive seafood, I expect better. Staff were attentive and nice. Atmosphere is Ok which seams to be the theme of this review. We ordered the togarashi fries waiting for our friends to join us. The fries were ok and I probably would not order again. The shrimp, clams & mussel appetizer was disappointing. The broth was under seasoned and lacked flavor. The clams are so small and the shrimp was just ok. Grilled Spanish octopus was ok - the flavor was good, but found some of the octopus chewy. Fish & chips - another ok meal. The batter on fish was under seasoned. Crispy fish sandwich was the best order. Probably will not go back.

Yelp
We had our very first date here two years ago. It lasted 3 1/2 hours and we had impeccable service and food the entire time. Fast forward to 2023 and here we are with our server Logan, who took phenomenal care of us all day today. From oysters to cocktails and everything between and after, we love Blue Island. We appreciate the always amazing service and the smiles we're met with every time we come. Thanks, Logan and team, for keeping us coming back for more!

Yelp
I love Blue Island Oyster bar! I always go on Mondays for $1 oysters! Their happy hour menu is also great! Every time I go I MUST get the BIOB salad as well, it's my favorite thing ever
