"Blue Ribbon Sushi & Steak, from the team behind Blue Ribbon Brasserie, exists for one reason and one reason only: To feed people who are afraid to wander too far from Penn Station. Located just off the lobby of an enormous office building, this upscale, izakaya-like place serves a mix of Japanese and American steakhouse cuisine. The setting is a bit corporate, but the steak is nicely seared, and the rolls and nigiri are made with quality fish, so you can have a pleasant meal here. You will, however, spend around $75 per person." - bryan kim, will hartman, willa moore, neha talreja, molly fitzpatrick

"An upscale dining venue offering a fusion of sushi and steak dishes." - Nadia Chaudhury

"For when you’re near Penn Station or Madison Square Garden, there’s a swanky new Blue Ribbon’s greatest hits in one place: In addition to a sushi counter, the menu features prime steaks, oxtail fried rice, as well as its fried chicken, the style of which Blue Ribbon has been serving for 30 years." - Eater Staff

"Until now, there’s been Blue Ribbons where you can eat a steak, and Blue Ribbons where you can eat sushi. Now, you can do both at the very same time. At the new Penn 1 location, you can eat the chain’s famous fried chicken alongside some Hokkaido uni before a show at Madison Square Garden. " - Will Hartman, Willa Moore
"Blue Sushi & Steak isn’t a bad restaurant, but there are only a few scenarios in which you should intentionally eat here. The first is if you’re seeing a show at Madison Square Garden, and the second is if you’re meeting up with someone who has a train to catch at Penn Station. Located just off the lobby of an enormous office building on 33rd Street, this place feels like a corporate izakaya, populated by folks with Chanel bags eating good, albeit pricey, Japanese food with the occasional steak tossed in. The menu is all over the place, with everything from roasted chicken to tuna poke, although even the hot dog will set you back around $30. If you're the one catching a train, the long bar is a decent option for a quick, fancy solo meal. photo credit: Blue Ribbon Sushi & Steak" - Bryan Kim
