Blue Ribbon Sushi

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this sushi restaurant, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. While the food was exceptional, what truly made our visit remarkable was the outstanding service provided by a wonderful young lady named Malu. Malu’s warm welcome and impeccable attention to detail made our dining experience seamless and enjoyable. She guided us through the menu with such grace, making our selection of dishes incredibly simple. Her recommendations were spot on, and each dish we tried was a culinary masterpiece. The chefs worked wonders in the kitchen, crafting flavors that were out of this world. Every bite was a delightful explosion of taste, perfectly prepared and presented. The quality of the sushi was simply unmatched. What made the evening even more special was Malu’s genuine hospitality. Her warmth and professionalism added a personal touch that elevated our entire experience. It’s rare to find a place where the service is as outstanding as the food, but this restaurant manages to excel in both. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an exceptional sushi experience. And if you’re lucky enough to be greeted by Malu, you’re in for a truly unforgettable evening.

I went here for lunch and was not impressed. The menu is overpriced, and the sushi didn't blow me away for $14 for 2 pieces. Miso soup was weird - not a fan of the miso on the side. Thankfully, I didn't order much - but my bill felt like a robbery. Would not recommend or dine again. I'm stumped why Sugarfish isn't in this plaza?? Thank you.

Fresh food with friendly staff. Outside seats are nice specially for evening. Place may get really crowded with kids playing in front of the restaurant. Portions/rolls/specials: Taste fresh but very small in size.

Most of the fish was very fresh, and people we're very nice. On the down side though, they waiters forgot one of our rolls, and that roll, which had Roe, was very sour and unfresh. Also I have never been to a sushi restaurant that serves Wings and Onion Rings. Also very pricey

Had dinner with family. Great kid friendly restaurant with excellent sushi. The popcorn shrimp was great. The sushi a 8 out of 10. Nice grassy courtyard outside for kids to run around in. Sushi was very fresh and great quality

This is hands down the best sushi spot in LA. The fish is so fresh, we even ordered a steak and it was cooked perfectly. I am obsessed!!!! This place is extremely high quality with good prices! 10/10.

I love all of the food from blue ribbon sushi. I have been going since it opened and the service has been great the whole time. It's a super busy restaurant to go to but it's has a super chill ambiance.

We ate lunch here since we were in the area and they didn't have a wait. The service was great, the entire staff was very friendly. The food, however, was okay. The only thing that stood out was their salad because of the delicious dressing. The sushi was bland, especially the ones the spicy tuna and and the spicy mayo they used. Sushi was not as fresh as we thought it would be based on the reviews. Definitely not worth the prices.

This is one of our favorite sushi spots. We go here before 6 so it's not as busy. The sushi is great, love the tiger roll and the crispy tuna. Great appetizers too and a good selection of wine. There's indoor and outdoor seating as well as heaters which makes it great to sit outside.

Had dinner with my husband after a nice walk at the Palisades Bluffs Park. The ambiance here is great. The restaurant is beautiful specially the indoor area. We chose to sit outdoors cause of the perfect weather after yesterdays hurricane. We got here around 6:30 and were seated right away. Our waiter stopped by and took our drink order and didn't come back for good 15 minutes to take the food order. Since we were not in a hurry and were enjoying the atmosphere we didn't mind. But this already told me that the service wasn't going to be it. For me customer service is as important as the food they serve. Our waiter was not attentive and unfriendly. Now the food ....it was amazing. We loved everything we ordered. Edamame was served hot, the seaweed salad tasted amazing, the house salad was delicious. The rolls were really good as well so was the crispy rice tuna. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented. Both my husband and I enjoyed our food and we both agreed that service needs improvement. Prices are reasonable.

Totally spontaneous lunch and it was so delightful! Jose was our server and he helped us with connecting a few tables on the lawn by the Christmas tree. Right away we ordered some starters: tempura cauliflower, popcorn shrimp and crispy rice tuna. We also got some spicy tuna hand rolls. Not long after it all came out. The kids loved the popcorn shrimp so much that we ordered a second one. We also got a shrimp tempura roll. Everything was delicious and tasty. We really liked our hand rolls. We also got the chicken wings. They were a bit too dry but still tasty. Overall it was a very pleasant lunch and Jose was excellent in making sure we were taken care of.

Service was terrible. Sushi chefs are cold & aloof. Menu pricing on sushi for nigiri is deceptive. Overall, I feel this is a tourist trap. I'm not returning.

Rip off prices ( $9 miso, $20 ordinary house sake, everything way over priced), deafening loud, noisy children all over the place. Horrible dining experience. To boot, the bill at Blue Ribbon was literally double that of other very good sushi restaurants. Will not return.

Super nice people . Great neighborhood. Worst over priced food ever. $160 for two with no liquor and had to stop at In & Out on the way home. I think they use a razor to cut the fish for sushi. Makes Nobu look like decent servings.

Sushi was delicious and service was Great, sat on the patio which was a little dark, couldn't see the nice work the chefs did. They should get some small lights for the tables for sure

I love Blue Ribbon Sushi ~ the food and service are outstanding. And, they have the absolute best Old Fashion cocktail (I call it the grown-up Shirley Temple). The restaurant is beautiful and the parking is very easy

It was great. I had a business meeting here on a rainy Monday night. Plenty of heaters outside to keeps us warm and overhead to stay dry. The staff was super helpful and i went with a sashimi carpaccio, tofu salad and some uni. The uni was from Hokkaido so not quite as sweet as our version. I'm an east coast guy and the stuff that comes from Maine is the schnizzle Totally will be back.

I think Blue Ribbon is great, and have been coming here since I moved to the Palisades since 2020. We frequent here often, even with our two children, both 8 and 5. The 8 year old even chose Blue Ribbon for her birthday celebration with a small group of friends and BR was very accommodating- giving us the area in the back behind the wall, and holding our cake in their fridge. The fish/sushi is consistently top-knotch, outside of a fancy omakase. I was really pushed over the edge and inclined to write a review because of our experience tonight- we ordered UberEats and our dinner combo was missing the rolls, which the girls eat for dinner. I called the restaurant while my husband filed an UberEats 'complaint.' I spoke to John, the manager, who was so apologetic and said to re-order the rolls via UberEats and would then mark the order as ready (to rush a driver) and would throw in some bonus extras. Well, the rolls arrived (~25 min later) with an extra two cans of sake and an order of crispy rice spicy tuna (6 pieces). I mean, that's a pretty nice bonus, right? I thought it was pretty thoughtful (or maybe I just had a really long day...could be both). So thus, this review. John, if you're reading this, you know your customer service and I'll be sure to introduce ourselves and thank you in person the next time we're at your restaurant! Cheers-

Love blue ribbon Palisades. Lee is such a talented sushi chef. Sit at the sushi bar for best experience. The staff they have had for years are lovely, some newbies will be hit or miss but they don't last long. The important thing is sushi is great and food atmosphere.

I struggled a little to give them 4 stars.... The $90 omakase sashimi was fantastic (5 stars +++) and worth the price, but the other dishes were disappointing-- the $33 sushi special had very small pieces (I'd say 2/3 or 1/2 the size of most order sushis in my experience) and nothing worth mentioning. Service was good and the outdoor seating area is nice. Inside is beautiful but we didn't take the risk to dine inside. Overall a nice dining experience. A small surprise was we had to pay the full price of parking after they validated our parking ticket. For a place that cost $50-80 per person for a decent meal, I'd expect full complimentary parking.

Blue Ribbon is located in the Pacific Palisades village. The ambiance is nice considering it is in the mall area. The service is usually pretty good, but my at most recent visit the service was horrible. I'm hoping that was just a one time thing. They barley came to our table and our waiter didn't even make eye contact with us. We had to ask several times for them to just come refill our water glasses. As for food, it honestly is mediocre and overpriced. The popcorn shrimp is so fried and battery. The sushi was very average. I used to like their fried chicken, but it has honestly gone down hill. I liked the shishito peppers and their spicy tuna on crispy rice is amazing. I would highly recommend trying the spicy tuna on crispy rice. Overall, Blue Ribbon is a hit or miss, and honestly not worth it. It's expensive and doesn't live up to the price point. There are plenty of Japanese restaurants I would eat at before Blue Ribbon.

If you're looking for quality sushi in the Pacific Palisades village with great ambience and a beautiful setting this is your spot. The miso is freshly served alongside with the soup, and you can choose the intensity that you desire. The wakame salad was my favorite while the spicy bean sprouts was my aunt's fav. The hamachi usuzukuri was the winner! It's a must when you visit! It's incredibly tender and flavorful, and one of the best I've had. The dragon roll was a close second!

Very delicious restaurant fish was quite fresh and the spicy tuna crispy rice is really delicious. It's right in the heart of the Palisades so it's a great location to take your kids. It was however my opinion a little expensive for a lunch. I have easily had sushi of the same quality for significantly cheaper.

10/10 so good. Best experience ever. Came for our anniversary had a wonderful experience here. The kanpachi and the crispy rice were my favorites. Rob gave us the vip experience and Roman was very accommodating. Will definitely come back. Thanks for the great anniversary experience. Definitely recommend

By far one of my favorite sushi spots in the Palisades. The fish is fresh and the staff is friendly. Great place to seat in or order for pick-up. The restaurant is located in a shopping center full of great shops and live entertainment. Usually its most busy on Sundays- plenty of parking in the structure below.

We were doing some shopping in the area and out of all the eateries around, sushi sounded the most appetizing. They have a nice selection of seating options; indoor, patio and seating around the courtyard area where other restaurants also have their tables. We were chasing the warmth of the sun that day and appreciated the option of a sunny table. They also have plenty of shaded options with umbrellas. Though our server was a little dry and robotic, we absolutely enjoyed everything we ordered. Eggplant Teppan - meaty, thick cuts of eggplant that were very soft and tender. My husband and I did not particularly like the excessiveness of thick sweet miso sauce on it, but the dish was still tasty. Wakame - A hearty and flavorful sesame seaweed salad. One of the best seaweed salads I've had. Hamachi Usuzukuri - Pacific yellowtail carpaccio. Light, refreshing, loved the thin slices of jalapeño for a subtle kick. Sakana San Shu - a roll with a trio of yellowtail, salmon, tuna and scallion. The scallion flavor really came through! Tiger Roll - shrimp tempura on the inside, topped with spicy tuna. A very filling sushi roll. I also appreciated them having a hot Matcha tea option to sip on and help warm me up. It was soothing. We were pleasantly surprised that our experience here was much more than a, "Well, this is the best option of what's around" sentiment to it being a sushi place we will look forward to returning to when shopping in the area again.

If you want sushi and fresh fish go somewhere else. If you are here for the atmosphere and scenery to sit outside and socialize with your friends, it will work. I ordered martini which was the worst martini I ever had. 3 different sashimis that had no taste and fish was not fresh. multiple rolls that no one wanted to eat. The only thing that was ok is spicy tuna on fried rice. We left to eat elsewhere. PS ate here 3-4 times since the opened hopping for a better experience. No more.

Very good sushi. Their Sushi-Sashimi Platter did not disappoint. Tiger Shrimp Popcorn is awesome. The Japanese Green Tea is great. Edamame is solid.

Amazing. Best sushi I've ever had. Staff was attentive and accommodating. It was busy, but we didn't feel rushed or cramped. Seating outside at sunset was perfect.

Love this sushi place everything is so fresh and delicious. Our waitress was very mellow but very good. We shared a lot edamame, dragon rolls , sashimi, chicken wings which come with two dipping sauces, popcorn shrimp with a fab sauce, crunchy shrimp ooo lala so good. Grey drinks as well. Expensive but really good and worth it

We came here once a couple of years ago, and we had a nice time! (So I would've given 5 stars then) We went there again last week, and the sushi was very mediocre, meanwhile it was quite pricey (score: 3 stars). So unless we happen to be in the area or in that mall specifically, we'd never probably come back again.

This is a fancy national chain sushi restaurant now part of the new Palisades Village. Food: Although I've lived in the US over half of my life now, but I was born and raised in Japan. That said, I'm very picky with fish, particularly sushi and sashimi. I was not impressed by their service, but the food was better than I'd thought. My girlfriend and I shared sunomono. For the entree, I ordered the sashimi lunch special and engawa (fluke fin) sushi. Fish was fresh *but* flavorful. The sushi rice tasted fine, and it was shaped without being packed too tight. The presentation was beautiful, maybe a bit too flash to my liking. In terms of authenticity, it really didn't do it for me, but for what it is, I was pleasantly surprised by the food. Service: The server was virtually hovering over us to snatch away as soon as he saw we were down to the last piece of food. Please just don't rush us. It's an expensive restaurant. Let us take our time. One thing that bothered me the most is that one of the chefs (he's probably the main chef), was using his cellphone with his gloves on. Yes, the gloves he uses to touch the food! Ambience: It's a pretty restaurant. I'm sure it's suitable for a business lunch or an intimate evening. What was most disappointing for me was that there was no, ZERO interaction with the chefs although we were seated at the counter. I know we are not in Japan, but it took away quite a bit for me. If you go to a place like Shunji, the chefs will talk with you. Yes, we go to restaurants to eat, but there's more than food to fine dining. Conclusions: I will probably not return here for a couple of reasons. As I said earlier, the food was good for what it is. However, it is expensive (even for what it is) and not quite high enough on the authenticity scale. The impersonal service was a put-off. Love this restaurant. They always have great service here and the sushi is fresh and melts in your mouth. Felt totally safe with all of the workers in full PPE. Good outdoor seating and plenty of people watching. Great for any occasion.

This is our go to family sushi spot. We love that they will give our little kids seaweed paper, rice and avocado and they get to make their own roles. The food it top notch and the staff are excellent.

Great sushi spot in the palisades. Love the location and atmosphere. My favorites are the tiger roll, yellowtail jalapeño, salmon carpaccio, binnaga special, spicy tuna crispy rice, and the Tiger roll. Always hit the spot. They're also pet friendly when you sit on the patio!

I mean sushi here is good. Kampachi w the yuzu is great. I really do wish I had four of these plates. Tempura is always great and I love a mushroom tempura!!!! It's an explosion of umami and it's exciting. Now- the fried chicken----- I LOVE looooooove me a bucket of fried chicken and blue ribbon does a good job. It's not your classic breading yadeh yadeh - they add their own seasoning to the breading and it's done right. I skipped the fork and dove into each piece as if I was at home. This is great chicken

I've eaten at 4 different Blue Ribbon Sushi restaurants two in NYC, one in Boston and one in Pacific Palisades. Of these the Palisades restaurant is the one disappointment. Pretty good sushi, inflated prices. Most annoying is the attitude of the manager, Rob, who took my order for California Uni and substituted Hokkaido uni, at a higher price ($28 per 2 pieces) without informing me. I don't know about you but I expect a restaurant to deliver what you order and if not available then to offer you another choice . As it was the bill was $28 more than it should have been. When I called to ask why, he blithely informed me he hasn't had California Uni for months, despite it still being on the menu, but was totally unsympathetic. There are lots of sushi restaurants around. I'm quite sure I will visit them all before considering a return to the Pacific Palisades Blue Ribbon Sushi.

This place is overpriced but pretty good. The chicken wings they serve are interesting, the sake salmon(?) sushi roll is great, and it's an all around good quality restaurant. Just make sure your pockets can handle it

I wish I could give zero stars. I've come to Blue Ribbon several times. The food is amazing. Today I asked my 17 y/o sister to pick some sushi up for me, and never would I expect for her to call me back CRYING. She called me in tear saying how the hostess refused to serve her and started serving customers behind her although she was standing in front of the line. She was completely ignored by the hostess, that even the customers urged the hostess to serve her because she was standing in front of him. She couldn't help but think that the reason she was being ignored was due to her ethnicity. She was the only African American in the restaurant, and she had never experience anything like this or felt so unwelcome somewhere in her entire life. She is traumatized! I called the manager Chris, who didn't mention anything about speaking to the employee in question. He said he can't speak for the employee and offered no apology. He just said "our restaurant isn't like that", but he did offer a free dinner. I'm so disappointed, all I wanted to know is that the employee is being spoken to about this. It's so unfortunate that this would happen, because I truly love the food, but I can't patronize a business who discriminates against certain customers. Bye Blue Ribbon, this was BEYOND unacceptable.

As a first time trying sushi I decided to stop by Blue Ribbon and give it a shot. I was honestly very surprised with the food and service. Food was great and service was comparable. Have revisited multiple times and will continue to visit when in the area.

I enjoyed my food and am a frequent sushi-eater. However, I woke up in the middle of the night with a horrendous stomachache and was awake for most of the night because of it. I suppose I recommend getting very plain items so that any lack of freshness can't be masked by seasonings or sauces. We got several dishes & rolls so no idea which one was the culprit, or maybe they all were. Additionally, while we were still waiting for our final rolls, the restaurant workers began using bleach to clean up the areas around us even though the restaurant wasn't closing for another 30-40 minutes. Given the prices, seems your dining experience should be considered a little bit more. Will not be revisiting.

Cute location and ambiance. Sushi rolls are basic nothing fancy and fish is good. Staff doesnt have great manners and your likely to have someone put a plate in front of ur face or reach over you without warning. "Please excuse my reach" just doesnt exist here. We order one of there sushi platters. When it came we realized it wouldnt be enough for us so we asked if we could order the bigger platter by just adding the additional sashimi to the plate. Which to me is simple. But they wouldn't do it.

The service is great! I want to commend France for being so friendly, accommodating and was able to explain the variety of good to us. I ordered the salmon teriyaki.. It was great. My friends ordered the tofu and chicken teriyaki and they liked it

So delicious! I've been a SugarFish snob for a very long time but after trying Blue Ribbon Sushi, I can easily say there is some heavy competition. The sushi here is so fresh and clean. It is presented in the most aesthetically pleasing way too. I was very impressed by the high quality of ingredients. The absolute best thing we ordered is the crispy rice with spicy tuna. I order this anywhere I go and this is by far the best one I've ever ordered. The rice is so crispy and the spicy tuna has the right amount of spice without being too overpowering. And the spicy sauce they put on the top is the right amount of flavor too. I loved it so much we ordered a second one. The yellowtail is phenomenal and the halibut carpaccio with jalapeno is a great choice too. The great thing about their menu is that they have a wide variety of items that include sushi, sashimi, appetizers, etc. I could come back here multiple times and still have a lot of options to choose from. To add to all of this, it is located in the new Pacific Palisades village area that is built from the same architect of the Grove. It is absolutely adorable and chic. So many fun dessert and shopping options to peruse after eating. I can't wait to come back here!
