Google
I am not a huge fan of donuts. I absolutely had to try these. Exciting flavors. While I wanted to try many of them I opted for just one. I do fly through here at least once a month so I have time to try others. The cost was $5.25 for the apple cider apple fritter. A little high? Maybe. It's definitely a specialty donut. It has more of a dense center which I actually like. The size is larger than what I would call a "normal" donut. I'll definitely try more in the future. One at a time.

Alesya Kos

Google
It's nestled on the DE concourse side of the airport, conveniently right after security. The donuts are made fresh and pairs very well with their coffee. I had the pumpkin pecan old-fashioned and my friend had the chocolate bergamot old-fashioned, both were delightful!

Google
It was alright, had the mango margarita cream brulee and would have like if it was more potent of both. The little marg squeezer had great flavor on it's own but was quite lost in the donut. Wasn't too sweet but also like trying to be like that too much, could have actually used a lil more sweetness for the mango flavor to pop I think

Michael Horne

Google
Too expensive. $6 donut? $6 coffee? This is at least 50% higher than normal prices. Fritter was too dense and not flavorful, not a nice fried donut you’d expect. The coffee is good, but there’s cheaper coffee right across from them at Portland Coffee Roasters. Staff did a good job, courteous and fast.

Google
Grabbed a chai tea latte and Party OG donut before my flight. Chai was good, not too spicy and mix was good. Donut was really sweet, almost too sweet, but can appreciate the mix with horchata. Amicable staff and served pretty quickly with a few people in line in front of me.

Very nice donuts. I’m glad I can taste them before departure. Thank u.

Google
We only tried Blue Star coffee and both of us were very disappointed ☹️ A simple 16 oz latte in spite having an extra shot, it lacked the aroma and flavor of coffee. My latte tasted like milk with a hint of coffee. My wife was so unimpressed that she gave hers up after only a few sips. And don’t get me started on the price!!

Got blue star donuts this morning. It was so quick, and everyone was so friendly. I got the chocolate bergamot donut and an old fashioned. They are so yummy, and the coffee is awesome, makes me miss living in the PNW!!!

Yelp
Located in the PDX and on our way to Gate 6! Lucky us. Picked up 5 to go. Original glazed Buttermilk Old Fashioned , Gingerbread Old Fashioned, Chocolate Peppermint Old Fashioned, Blueberry Bourbon Basil, and the Party OG. We tried the Buttermilk Old Fashioned. It was fresh and delicious. Much, much better than the old kiosk that sold previously frozen Blue Star donut holes! Service was fast and friendly here. Ambiance: clean and a roped line, which is standard for airport vendors. Food: 4/5 stars Service: 5/5 stars Ambiance: 3/5 stars

Yelp
I was super excited to finally try bluestar as I've heard good things. My boyfriend & I both got the buttermilk old fashion as that seemed like a good simple choice. I held it in the napkin as I took my first bite. Not only was it quite sweet, it was super greasy. It's like when you fry something before the oil is hot enough & it just absorbs all the oil. I took a few more bites then had to take a break. After drinking some water I picked it up again. The napkin at that point was covered in grease. Decided I just couldn't finish it as I was about to get on a plane & didn't want to risk my stomach being weird. Threw the rest away unfortunately. After reading several reviews, it seems I'm not the one that encountered this problem.

Rachel H.

Yelp
Fabulous stop before boarding a plane! The apple fritter was ultra sweet, but very good if you like super sweet stuff! Employees were kind and quick. Enjoy!!

Yelp
I was so excited to try these donuts. I know the airport experience is different so I will try another location and update my review if needed. When I walked up I was greeted right away and placed my order and paid, unfortunately I noticed an abrupt change in attitude when I failed to leave a tip. So much so that I felt compelled to mention because I was so thrown back. The donuts were very greasy and chewy. The flavor was fantastic, not too sweet, just the grease was a little congealed and made the donut chewy. The storefront was modern and the store was very clean and organized. I'm glad I did not pay $39.95 to ship 4 donuts to my house in CA. The $10 I paid for 2k at the shop was a better way to sample. I'll try them again next time, everyone has a bad day.

G D.

Yelp
found the donuts to be too sweet. I have seen other shops that have really wild designs where blue start did not have anything I found to be that exciting.

Stephanie F.

Yelp
Glad these were in the airport to try them and bring some home. They're about $ each; don't know how much they are in other places outside of the airport. The lemon poppyseed, apple cider fritter, and cinnamon sugar were great.

Jason B.

Yelp
Old fashioned donut was over fried and absorbed a lot of the oil from the fryer. Super greasy and unfortunate.

Alayna K.

Yelp
Lime and lemon custard was a personal favorite! The blueberry and other old fashioned donuts are great to try. Quick service, solid donuts!

Nathan U.

Yelp
Grabbed a chai tea latte and Party OG donut before my flight. Chai was good, not too spicy and mix was good. Donut was really sweet, almost too sweet, but can appreciate the mix with horchata. Amicable staff and served pretty quickly with a few people in line in front of me.

Yelp
Donuts were crispy and full of flavor. I wasn't going to stop but Im very happy I did. Great display of products and staff was very helping.

Kyle T.

Yelp
Choco old fashion and apple fritter were Staff were friendly and the pumpkin spice latte was excellent too

Nina H.

Yelp
I grabbed two donuts on my way out of the city to enjoy at home. I decided on the blueberry and lemon poppyseed. The blueberry was interesting, but I wish it was a bit more complexly flavored, or tart. The lemon poppy seed was delicious though, it had a lot of crispy bits that tasted so deliciously fried and had a light glaze with some tart lemon. The location is so conveniently located at the airport and super fast.

Gellie E.

Yelp
I had Blue Star Donuts bookmarked on Yelp but didn't have a chance to stop at a location when visiting the city. When I saw they had an airport shop, I knew what I was having for breakfast! It's more of a kitschy food truck than the full shop, and they only sell boxes of their donut bites (aka holes) in a few flavors. I wish they had some of their whole donuts for sale to try. They generally carry 6oz. and 12oz. selections, but at 11am, they were already out of their 6oz. boxes and only had the 12oz. boxes left. The boxes are nicely packaged to bring home as a souvenir treat for others to try. I was debating between the Maple Glazed and Chocolate Truffle donut bites, but decided to get the chocolate truffle donut bite box ($10.99) at the recommendation of one of the kiosk workers. Each bite is about 1oz., ours came with 12-13 pieces. I appreciate that the $10.99 price tag is the same as the shop price (per the website) and not inflated airport prices. It's a cake donut; the first bite was a bit dense and chewy, but I enjoyed the rich and smooth chocolate glaze. After a few bites, the consistency grew on me. I think the chewy donut would pair well with coffee (which they also sell). Pro tip if you're bringing the donuts home: Warm the donuts up in the microwave for a FEW seconds (think single digits). After trying Blue Star Donuts, I personally would not go out of my way for them, but it was nice to try and bring a bite (or 12) of Portland back home.

Dale F.

Yelp
Many thanks Grace! BTW, the Old-Fashioned donuts were simply the best donuts we've ever had (Buttermilk was my favorite and my better half loved the Raspberry Rosemary)!

Mallory W.

Yelp
The cashiers are super nice here, but this was absolutely the greasiest donut I've ever had, to the point that it was borderline inedible. The raspberry icing was really nice, but the donut itself was awful.

Yelp
Wow, Today is a good day, even though we are leaving PDX, Because Blue Star!! I have wonderful memories of Blue Star when visiting my daughter during her college days. I heard Blue Star Donuts opened up at PDX but the few times I flew in I keep missing it, closed. The shop set up is super cute, one side of the cart there's Blue Star merchandise and the other side is samples. I sampled the lemon poppy seed donut bites. The kiosk is where you get the Blue Star goods! Both staff working that day were super friendly! I noticed at this kiosk, there are no donuts but just boxes of donut bites in two sizes. The smaller size was all sold out so I ended up getting the bigger size. $10.99 for a box. The donut bites comes in lemon poppy, chocolate truffle, maple glazed, orange dreamsicle, and party bites. I ended up with maple glazed and orange dreamsicle. The eat by date is 4/20, which we had 4 days to finish. I would buy more if the eat by date was later. The donut bites doesn't taste as fresh but they were still good. I really enjoyed both donut bites but my favorite is the orange! I wish there was a variety box of all the flavors. I washed those bites down with coffee, what a perfect combination! Hot coffee is available for purchase. Blue Star Donuts Fans or if you haven't tried yet, check them out here at PDX, Oregon's original Blue Star Donuts!!

Dave G.

Yelp
4pm in the afternoon walked up to counter Roman said "we are all sold out of donuts." Huh, I said, don't you sell donuts. "scare all out" was here response again. I walked away astounded. WTF? no "we ate waiting for some to bake" or "we are putting some in the oven" or "if you would like to wait a few minutes" just "we are sold out" how the **** do you run a business selling the very item described in the title of your business if you don't have it to sell? baffled here!

Joe P.

Yelp
These are the best donuts I've ever had. They're so good! And the texture is perfect. Crispy and soft, yet chewy. This is the first time I've tasted them. To bad I live in California and can't get them easily, maybe that's good for the waistline though.

Luanne A.

Yelp
Only ordered one doughnut. First time here. It was the buttermilk old fashioned. Looked amazing and I couldn't wait to try it. Sadly it was so grease soaked that you could squeeze it off the edge. One bite in was more than enough. $5 plus a $1 tip was one expensive bite! Disappointing and surprised.

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
I didn't try their donuts but this was one of my favorite iced oat milk lattes I've ever had!

Anokhy D.

Yelp
I've been in before and had high standards. Needless to say, they've been met again! We stopped in during the holidays and got some classics: raspberry rosemary old fashioned, passionfruit cocoa nib, buttermilk old fashioned. Solid donuts, no complaints!

Kimi B.

Yelp
Skip the Starbucks line and go here! For someone traveling during the crazy holidays the fact that they were Handing out free samples and had the BEST coffee really made this trip that much more relaxed. The live piano music in the terminal also made this experience so much sweeter. Love PDX and really loved the doughnuts.

Jaynne R.

Yelp
Just went there to try their matcha and it was the biggest scam. $7 for a small hot and it was barely visible green pigment, and tasted like plain steamed oat milk. Want my money back

Bill G.

Yelp
So, this is a review of the Terminal E, Food Truck. Visited at 9:45 AM ON Sunday, 10/1/23. Visiting from Tucson, AZ and have been told by many I've met on the street that Blue Star was THE place for coffee & donuts! Must've been a bad day in donut land.... Asked for decaf coffee - sorry, only instant decaf. (The last time I had instant decaf coffee was at my grandma's house 'bout 20 years ago!) Donuts? Nope, only donut bites! Chocolate please? Nope, sold out! Selected from the only choices available - Party Bites. (No small boxes, only larger 12 Bite box.) So - not what I was expecting from "best donuts and coffee in Portland" (comments I heard many times!) Granted, this was an airport location, but my feeling on that is this is a place where you put your best foot forward to impress the world (or at least the traveling public!) No coffee for this thirsty / hungry traveler, minimal donut selection at 9:45 in the morning, no breakfast sandwiches (and only a minimal sale - 12 bites when 3 alone practically induced a sugar comma, and I just gotta say - "I'm not impressed!" Sounds like Portland could use a Dunkin' Donuts in this airport!

Michelle Q.

Yelp
The donuts are decent. They're fluffy. I'm not sure it's worth the hype but it's definitely worth a try!

Janet N.

Yelp
Comparing Blue Star to Voodoo is like comparing apples and oranges, similar but not the same. I'm a huge fan of Blue Star for its elevated and quality flavors! Before flying back home, stopped by this location for a sweet good-bye. Ordered my favorite Blueberry Bourbon Basil and Maple Bacon. The donuts tasted very similar to their other locations, but I found the donuts seemed like they had been out for a while. I doubt that these donuts are made at the airport and are probably delivered as another reviewer had presumed. The flavors were still spot on, delicious and not overly sweet. Just wish the actual donut was more fluffy and fresh. The cashier helping out was incredibly kind, even with a growing line of guests. He was attentive to each person. No issues bringing the donuts through TSA as well.

Faye L.

Yelp
Friend visited their city location during a Portland trip that he bought a few donuts from the airport to take back to me here in SoCal. Normally I wouldn't think much about airport donuts but dayummm... These donuts were AWESOME. They wrap each donut in brown paper and then fit four into a box. They even put a handle on the box for easier carrying. We tried them after dinner (well, tried a bite or two) and must say there were almost all delicious. They have a unique circle/square shape. The outer shell was crispy and you can see how the deep fried oil penetrated the crust (this was a good thing) as it made for a more sinful decadent bite. My favorite was probably the simple old fashioned. It was just simple magic - kinda like a first donut kiss (so Notebook-cheesy right). The other flavors (Raspberry Rosemary Buttermilk, Lemon Poppy Buttermilk Old-Fashioned, Blueberry Bourbon Basil) were just as fun and delicious. We did prefer the old fashion dough over the yeast based dough. They have a location in LA that I would absolutely visit now after sampling the ones from Portland!

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Blue Star has closed all locations. This sign says to check availability at: Green Zebra Grocery, New Seasons: Concordia, Slabtown, Cedar Hills Market of Choice: Cedar Mill & West Linn If you're looking for amazing donuts Try Nola's Donuts diagonally behind Powell's downtown and in Lake Oswego.

Bea R.

Yelp
Minus a star just because they still just sell doughnut holes. But... these holes are awesome! For $10 you get a box with enough holes to give you a stomachache if you eat them all... I tried both the strawberry shortcake and birthday cake and enjoyed them both.

Marie B.

Yelp
One of the featured food purveyors at Portland International Airport is the much celebrated Blue Star Donuts (doughnuts, but that's just me). I was kindly gifted with a glazed old fashioned crafted with the signature brioche dough and a Mexican Chocolate cake one (9/26/19). I wasn't able to sample them until the next morning (9/27/19) and saved the majority for The Homie, who happily ate them for brunch (9/28/19). Two day old, tasty doughnuts stored in the car speaks to the quality ingredients and consistent preparation. I can only imagine savoring them on the same day of preparation. Thoughtful gesture! Definitely road trip worthy!

Christina W.

Yelp
For a donut shop at a airport, these donuts were pretty dang delicious, with just the right softness and flavor. TBH I normally don't go to premium donut places since I prefer a simple sprinkle glazed donut. Ok, I lied, I'm obsessed with Mister Donut in Japan and Taiwan, but those are pretty much the only ones I'll hunt down when abroad! We ordered the blueberry donut to share (gotta watch our figures for that revenge bod - I mean summer bod, of course!) and took it to go. By the time we opened the box, we were welcomed with not 2, but 3 total donuts! The passion fruit cacao was my favorite, with a hint of tartness that I love. Pretty unique, and the donut was soft without being too mushy; I would definitely get this next time. The blueberry one was tasty, but not as good as the passionfruit. We also had a sugar coated donut, which was tasty and light, surprisingly! The woman helping us was pretty friendly and although I don't expect extra donuts the next time I come, we were pretty happy with the generosity :) You win this round, Blue Star Donuts, you win this one...

Glen C.

Yelp
First off... a big "thank you!" to Chloe and Ryan for being really really great Blue Star Donuts workers at this airport because not only were they the ones who popped me and my wife's BSD cherries, but they have phenomenal knowledge, work ethic and personalities that made our first time trying this place; PERFECT!!! Now... The wife and I have been hearing from locals around Portland, Oregon that this establishment has better donuts than Voodoo Donuts, so we HAD to try both them and Blue Star Donuts. The specific donuts we tried were the following: - Logan Berry - Lemon Poppy Buttermilk - Raspberry Rosemary Buttermilk (thanks to Ryan because he loved the fact that I'm a wrestling fan just like him and he was telling me how he actually sold donuts there to wrestler Joey Ryan!!!!). Blue Star Donuts' actual donuts taste very very very homely, as if they REALLY give a sh*t about the quality of the donuts they sell to people. They taste extremely homely and like deep fried, but also soft, circular-shaped cakes that just are light and full of flavor without feeling so damn glutton after eating them! I was so impressed by just everything about this particular Blue Star Donuts because it was legit flawless from the food to the customer service, cleanliness, organization etc. all while balancing out being in a busy airport. 5 STARS for Blue Star Donuts! :)

Rashi T.

Yelp
This is that place that you take your out of town friends to , to show off how great Portland is . I mean yes there is the natural beauty , and the amazing people and great views and not to forget Mt. Hood , but lets be honest here nothing makes a dreary traveler happier than a bite of a warm decadent donut. This is one of the least busy locations in the city for BS . There are other Blue stars pretty close to where I live but the wait times are a mood killer . The staff is friendly and fortunately , they ran out of the 'out of stock' signs before they opened this location because this place always has most of the flavors unless its very late in the day OR their had been a lot of people like me at the airport ,who are out of control around Donuts. These are gourmet donuts and yes they are a little pricy , but so is your mental peace and you wont have any of that if you decide to not try these donuts . Blue Star is already pretty popular in the city and outside as well and there is nothing much that I need to write that has not already been told in other reviews .So , if you are that dreary traveler on the airport and reading this review to convince yourself that you need another box of donuts before you board that flight ,this is a sign from the universe - take the plunge . ,

Hart P.

Yelp
Portland is famous for donuts and Blue Star Donuts are my favorite Portland donuts. The flavors are fabulous and when I find something I really like, I want to share. However, donut freshness does not usually last the rigors of travel with glazes breaking down during the day and dry airplane air. Blue Star's airport location lets me get the freshest ones possible before I start my travels (not that they all make it on the airplane), and the people on the other end of the flight get an opportunity to enjoy a Portland favorite. Favorites are the sugar n spice, raspberry rosemary buttermilk and passion fruit cocoa.

Weley L.

Yelp
Blue star...three star I got the blueberry cake, blueberry bourbon basil, lemon poppyseed, and valerian chocolate crunch. Wasn't that impressed by any of them so I wouldn't order any of these again (but if I had to pick one donut it'd be the chocolate crunch). The flavors of the donuts weren't that unique for me and some were a bit too sweet. I wanted to try the creme brûlée one but it was temporarily out.

Lisa D.

Yelp
I heard these donuts are the best- so when we went thru the airport, we planned to get some donuts. There were 3 of us planning to order. I was taking pictures to send to my husband. Wanted to get him whichever ones he wanted. We tried to ask questions about which ones the staff liked better, do you have any samples... they didn't answer us. But then scooped up donuts and just tossed them in the trash. Not sure what that was about... 1 co warier had already finished her order. Myself and my other friend ended up walking away without donuts. Not sure what was going on that day... but we didn't like the vibe. My co worker who got donuts wasn't impressed. So thinking we were happier without.

Mary S.

Yelp
So if Voodoo Donuts is the kindergarten of Donut Shops. Ya know, we are silly, and crazy, maybe drunk, and want to eat sweets all day. All that giggling, laughing at naughty shapes, phallic donuts, and doll donuts with lots of extra too sweet toppings piled onto kiddie cakes, then Blue Star is it's older, classier, more sophisticated higher educated, university equivalent sibling. So I had planned to compare the two as part of the trip since that is all anyone seemed to talk about when they heard I was going to Portland for the first time. I even scoped out the website for weeks ahead of time to choose a few fan favs. I was all set for my taste test. Well, so be the destroyer of plans and Karma, Lo and Behold my flight got very delayed. I dragged my sorry body into the airport pretty late, best laid plans and all. Not much choice of donuts by the time I got there. I saw they had the Chocolate Basil Blueberry one I had pre-chosen from my internet viewing days but the Creme Brulee was sold out. So I ordered that Basil Blueberry and than told the gal to surprise me on the other one. She picked the Passion Fruit one for me, which I guess is a fan fav. ( well at least that is what she told me) She did mention they were good but today they seemed extra spicy. Silly me, being the AZ gal I am, I thought spicy meant hot. I got excited and jumped at the chance to have a spicy fruity donut. However, sad for me that was not to be the case though. I think by spicy she meant tangy, tart, overly sweet, and very harsh and heavy tasting on the fake flavoring. I was not a fan of this fan pick. It was a bit too much for me. The Basil one rated higher but it did not seem to look like the ones in the photos either. Mine had more chocolate on it than the blue icing displayed on their webpage. It was good. It was very different. I liked it but it probably is not for everyone. The cake was a bit hard or stale by then. I stopped here again on my way back since my donut adventure was a bit of a bust. I had an earlier flight so was still hopeful. This time they had the Creme Brulee one. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! But oh to the joy, the Heavens and beyond the yum. It was a Coconut Cream Creme Brulee donut. Instead of the usual Vanilla filled cream it had Coconut Creme inside. What a surprise and even better. I am a Coconut addict. "Yes, please!!!!!!" I might have, or not, strut a "Happy Dance" right in the middle of PDX in front of some cops. No I did not do that, okay, yeah I did, just saying. So this donut comes with a tiny plastic rod like holder on top. It is filled with a caramel type of liquid ooooozzie yumminess! They do need to explain this though. They did not to me. I guess the idea it to shove it in the donut and squeeze it. Out shoots all the liquid so it mingles with the cream filling and resembles the consistency and taste of an actual Creme Brulee. Ya know, so you get a yummy Creme Brulee type of experience. Sweet!!!!! So I try it and Then bam I get a face and hand full of gel squirting all over me. Most fun I had all week. Teehee! I obviously did not press the plastic tube down far enough into the cake and the liquid pooped out all over me and the top of the donut. This kind of defeats the purpose of the crunchy top. It made it a tad soggy. I also made a mess of myself. So funny! I quickly corrected the problem and jammed the pod of shame back all the way into the donut and tried again. All that liquid gold mixing it up into the middle of the donut to mingle with the amazing Coconut Cream filling. Oh my! This pick of a donut was a good one, delish! That is all I can say. Two bites and I destroyed that donut and wish I had ordered 50 more. In general though the Portland donuts themselves are really nothing to write home about as far as the cake quality goes. I think they run off the unique flavors and fill ins. Nothing wrong with that really. However, if you want just really good pasty try one of the many great bakeries in the city. So I did give Blue Star 4 stars instead of three for that donut I loved and the free messy entertainment it provided for no extra charge. I could eat that Creme Brulee donut every day, I suppose. Also the employees are super sweet. Finally, I have to admit I have kind of a crush on PDX a tad too. I so love this airport, which is another review for another day. Also, something I found so interesting here is that PDX does not allow local vendors who do business at the airport to charge more for their product than their other locations. They must charge the same or less at the airport than their other local locations. Wow, much, "RESPECT" Portland for that law!!!

Kristian D.

Yelp
I love me some donuts, so having a Blue Star Donuts in the Portland Airport seemed like a good stop on my latest trip. This location is outside the secured area near the TSA checkpoint. The counter is fairly busy with a selection similar to the ones found in the city. There is no dedicated seating, only a larger common area. The donut selection was impressive with a wide range of their popular offerings. This is not a Dunkin Donuts. They have many gourmet options using special ingredients for a unique flavor. I opted for the Maple Bacon donut which was a bit disappointing with chewy bacon and a not-so-fresh donut. The flavor was excellent though. This location is a bit disappointing for several reasons. The main reason is the lack of fresh donuts! Donuts do not keep well, and it seems like the ones sold here were made elsewhere and trucked over. Also, their location outside the secured area is rather annoying. You have to bring the donuts through the checkpoint or leave the secured area to get some. Also, when arriving at PDX, you can easily hit one of the other locations for fresh donuts on your way out. Nevertheless, I give Blue Star Donuts credit for offering a taste of their special donuts at the airport. It is not the easiest or best offering, but it brings airport food to a higher level.

Ashley S.

Yelp
Donuts seem to be the thing to do in Portland and I hadn't made it to Blue Star prior to leaving, so of course I took advantage of the shop in the airport. They had all the popular flavors. I got a weird blueberry lavender or something like that. It was really good.

Cindy A.

Yelp
Whenever I'm in the mood for a donut, I search for the nearest location of Blue Star Donuts. I'm not a fan of the ones in the pink box. I tried them twice and that was enough for me. I really like the brioche dough that Blue Star uses for the base of their donuts. It makes for a less heavy tasting donut that doesn't leave you feeling like you've eaten a brick. The flavors at Blue Star are original and tasty. They offer some seasonal choices along with their regular selections. This location of Blue Star Donuts is found inside Portland airport pre-security. The people behind the counter are friendly and pleasant. Sometimes there is a line but it moves along quickly. Today we enjoyed the peppermint chai old fashioned and the apple brandy donut. Both flavors were delicious. Their cake donuts are all vegan but they do not have any gluten free donuts. I'm often at PDX so I'm very happy that Blue Star Donuts is here.

Emily S.

Yelp
I love blue star donuts. When I have people from out of town come and want donuts, I bring them here! The donuts are high quality and super filling. My absolute favorite is their blueberry bourbon and the lemon poppyseed

r h.

Yelp
Great coffee, donuts and service. Friendly staff made a difference at the airport location!

Liss C.

Yelp
Um um I'm borderline speechless right now... and hanging on to every breath. These donuts are friggin phenomenal! Talk about crazy flavors too- The orange olive oil is by far my fav! But paired with the Raspberry rosemary- YES!!! Found myself making hmmm hmm sounds and omg gosh this is crazy good!

Luke C.

Yelp
I heard A LOT about Blue Star Donuts before coming here to give them a try. Granted, this was the airport location (does that mean not as good? I dunno), but I had still heard great things, and the reviews seemed to be excellent as well. So before going home, my family and I eagerly sought out the location in the airport so we could see what all the fuss was about! Blue Star wasn't difficult to find and we quickly went up to the counter. Sadly, nobody was there manning the register. There was an 'I'll be back soon' sign so we decided to wait. A few impatient people couldn't stand the wait and took off. I wouldn't say it was too long before the employee got back... but it was long enough for people to get annoyed and leave. All the donut flavors looked delicious... and there were so many of them to choose from! I suggested getting an assortment of our choosing... but these aren't your run of the mill donut prices. Each donut was three to four dollars. Our small box ended up being about twenty three bucks! And that's with no tax in Oregon too! Yikes. These better be some awesome donuts. Well, they were generally pretty good, but I don't think they were worth the price of admission. Overall the donuts were on the cake-ier side of things. I prefer a fluffy donut. I enjoyed the unique flavors each donut provided but the creme brulee donut just tasted burnt. These donuts aren't bad by any stretch of the imagination, but the price to delicousness ratio is a bit off. I'm not sure if I would make an effort to get Blue Star on my next visit to the Rose city. But I'm all about second chances!

Yelp
Apparently only a kiosk now? Also closed at noon, not 3 pm as the website says. Sad.

Yelp
Shockingly, my husband and I didn't get donuts during our weekend trip to Portland, probably because we disliked Voodoo last time. Because we took an early flight from PDX and roamed the airport for coffee and water, we fatefully stumbled upon Blue Star Donuts. I couldn't resist getting a breakfast donut from here and a few others to take home. My husband just had a regular glazed, but I went a little overboard by getting an apple fritter and blueberry bourbon one. I think the cashier threw in one more, which was sweet. Everything was so good, I'll never go this long without donuts again. PDX is already renown for it's excellent eateries onsite, and Blue Star is no exception. It'll henceforth be one of my must-stop places next time I visit. Stellar service, food, and coffee. What's not to like?

Yelp
Conveniently located in the airport right before security. Get a dozen to take home! The donuts are delivered to this location super early in the morning (not made on site here). Blue Star donuts are by far my favorite donuts ever. It's worlds above Voodoo Doughnuts imho because they actually have unique flavors, are not super sugary sweet, and in general are more gourmet, classy grown-up donuts. My favorite is the Valrhona Chocolate Crunch, followed closely by the Passionfruit Cocoa Nib. I've also enjoyed the more classical flavors of Lemon Poppy and Meyer Lemon & Key Lime Curd. The PB&J had a surprising spicy kick to an otherwise normal combination of peanut butter and blackberry jam- it was one of the more "interesting" donut flavors I've ever had. If you see the elusive Cointreau Creme Brulee, buy it immediately! It's supposedly the best one and also the first to sell out.

Yelp
Love the dense cake donuts here, texture and flavor is so good! Favorite is the olive oil citrus, but I like all of them and even like the crispier square donuts that I don't normally like elsewhere.

Yelp
Portland is known for having an eclectic food scene and their doughnut scene is no different. While I was waiting for my flight, I couldn't help but notice the different doughnut flavors that Blue Star Donut had to offer. I was intrigued and the cashier was so sweet because she explained every single doughnut that they had. I asked about what was popular and what was just cute for Instagram, so-on and so-forth. She was completely honest which was helpful! I ended up going with one of the most popular flavors blueberry bourbon basil and I got a safe option with the lemon poppy seed doughnut. The blueberry bourbon was definitely an acquired taste but I like it! The lemon poppy seed was good but I wish I was a little more adventurous with choosing another flavor. When you're in Portland, please check out Blue Star!
