I found myself at Blueprint to meet some friends; growing tired of walking up and down Broadway, we thought Printer's Alley would be fun to explore. I wasn't one to complain, especially since my hotel was right around the corner. Anyway, I took the short walk over to link up and check this place out.
So right off the bat, Blueprint stands out due to the sheer size of the space. It's much larger than your typical Nashville bar, and almost gives off a club vibe private booth areas and low lighting. The bar sits along the back wall with the stage behind and above it it which serves as a great focal point. When I arrived there was live music playing - they were pretty good and played all the crowdpleasers.
The drink menu had a good mix of classics and more creative cocktails, I had two rounds and both drinks were quite good. Service was also a plus - all of the staff were really friendly and made sure we were taken care of.
So why the 3? Well, as gorgeous as the space is, it kinda feels out of place; it's not like the surrounding bars but not in a good way. The place had a handful of people for the majority of time I was there, but it emptied out after a while which I found odd since most of the bars consistently had decent crowds. The music also switched from a live band over to a DJ halfway through my visit - again it seemed out of place and I almost felt like I was back in NY by combination of the DJ set with the clubby atmosphere.
Overall, I had a fine time at Blueprint, but the vibes were kinda off for me; this seems like a new-ish spot, so perhaps they are still finding their footing. That being said, there's potential here - the drinks are good, the space is beautiful, and the staff is friendly. Also, friendly reminder that these are my opinions, you may think differently but for me there are better spots in Printer's Alley to check out.
