"The Australian-owned coffee shop empire in New York City knows no bounds - it’s even extended into Midtown. Pop into Bluestone Lane for lunch and you’ll feel like you’ve escaped to a land of attractive people, flat whites, and healthy, pretty foods. The people working here also tend to be quite friendly - but don’t get swept up and call them mate. Take it from us, things get awkward fast." - bryan kim, katherine lewin

"While we’re on the subject of Australian cafes, let’s talk about Bluestone. There are a handful of Bluestone Lanes downtown as well as two locations in Midtown. The downtown ones tend to be a little roomier, but the outposts in Bryant Park and the Meredith Building on 3rd Ave are useful places to grab a coffee and an avocado smash to go." - bryan kim

Wish the seating area was larger BUT the service was amazing and the food was so yummy. We are traveling from out of town and came back multiple days. The staff remembered our order and preferences and took such great care to make us feel welcome. It was impressive! The Gluten Free roast here is beyond delicious! Someone please tell me where to get it! Care was taken with special requests and getting the order just right. LOVE the staff here! Thank you!

Google
A decent breakfast burrito but nowhere to eat it. The seating area here is tiny. When I was here, the front door xoxo didn't close properly - so the place was freezing cold. The burrito 🌯 was good but small for the price. And expensive. When I was there, they were out of 🦃 turkey. So unprofessional!

Google
They are so good with any drink and food I go here almost every day and i’m always the happiest with my order. Not to mention the staff is amazing! Anyone looking for a good hot chocolate its literally the best in town!!!

Hannah Evans

Google
Very cute place to get coffee! Great atmosphere and good coffee. I got a vanilla latte with berry and peanut butter toast on gluten free bread. Tasty!

Ulrik Jørgensen

Google
Small but nice coffee ☕️ place. Service was excellent and the selection of coffee ☕️ and food was great. Croissant 🥐 was delicious 😋

Google
I would give this a 0 stars if i could. We were looking forward to a nice breakfast at home and but to our surprise and disgust, a 2 day expired moldy fruit cup was sent to us. The entire fruit cup is filled with green and blue mold and all of the strawberries have fuzz all over them. what is most baffling is that they put a sticker on the lid of the fruit cup where you can clearly see the green blue mold and the rotten fruits through the clear lid and still decided to send it to us. The expiration date is also written on the bottom (today’s date is 8/18) it is absolutely disgusting.

Google
Ari, Claudio, Tyreek, Maite and the full team are amazing. Starbucks’s who? They can take a ride. Top tier coffee, top tier service and top teir experience. Also prob the best Chocolate chip cookie I’ve had in NYC. Bluestone Lane all the way! <3

Google
I ordered delivery this morning and the berry pot came completely spoiled, covered with molds. The date on it was two days ago! Disgusting. We contacted the store but no one called us back.

Maggie K.

Yelp
The staff at this location are amazing and the coffee is always great! Love getting my morning coffee here

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
This Bluestone Lane is a bit of a smaller location, not really any room to sit down - but still has a pretty robust menu! There are good options for drinks - I love the variations on matcha lattes, however they are a bit on the pricier side.

Jackie R.

Yelp
I had the salmon toast on gluten free bread and WOW!! Literally, the best gluten-free bread that I've ever had...fluffy and tasted like real bread. The salmon was fresh and delicious, and my Cappuccino was fantastic. It's definitely a great place to eat breakfast whether or not you have a gluten allergy. I will absolutely be back! The Staff was nice and helpful as well :) Whoops, ate it all and forgot to get a picture !!

Daniel G.

Yelp
Good food, bad service. DEFINITELY order ahead. Not sure how I can get a burrito from chipotle in 5 minutes behind a line of 10 people, but it takes 17 minutes to get a burrito in Bluestone land when I'm the only one there... Every customer who came in after me got their food or drink well before.

Lynne M.

Yelp
Great food - good service - bright and airy Ambience Perfect for Saturday brunch. Not recommended for Zoom calls

Erika R.

Yelp
Coffee is so delicious here! Recommend the latte with almond milk. Also the keen green smoothie is delish too. For food I love their breakfast burrito, granola yogurt with lemon and their chia seed bowl with peanut butter.

Dan D.

Yelp
Good coffee, but super slow food. Store was not busy and it still took 20 min between ordering and getting our food. Don't understand how it can be that slow

Yelp
This afternoon after a lengthy appointment I yearned for a cup of java to revive me. I walked on Madison Avenue near 49th Street looking for a cafe. Bluestone Lane appeared. While quite tiny it had what I was looking for - a Cortado and cinnamon doughnut. A single shot of coffee was hot and welcoming. On the other hand the doughnut was rather sad looking and stodgy. Among the chilled drinks available, I spied Open Water which I like and here it was $2.50. I bought two bottles. Bienvenue is a form of greeting in French but here the charming lady who took my order said that it was her name! Hailing from the Congo, we spoke in French which I like to practice whenever I get the chance. Anthony, also from the Congo, made my coffee but said that his spoken French was limited. I sat to have these refreshments and then left keeping in mind that this is a cafe I can come to after appointments midtown.

Yelp
Was looking for a quick local spot for some iced tea and Bluestone didn't disappoint! I got the Melbourne iced tea and it was delicious and service was fast!

Novella N.

Yelp
Bluestone Lane has to be one of my favorite coffee spots in NYC. It's nice to have one so close to Grand Central on my way to work. Out of all the drinks I have tried, the cold brew and the iced Aussie latte are my favorite. This location has the nicest baristas! Drinks are always made fast too. Note: if you have the app, they usually reward you with $5 off pretty frequently! (Not just a birthday thing).

Chelsea D.

Yelp
Best avocado toast I've ever had. Their gluten free bread is SO GOOD! It's clearly not a generic store bought brand. I added smoked salmon and it was so so good! Highly recommend!

Mark W.

Yelp
Their chi tea is excellent and I love the avocado toast and their cookies. their employees are very kind and considerate especially Maria.

Helen S.

Yelp
Cosy spot that's often very busy! A little cramped inside during rush hours. Food can also take a long time to be prepared but at least it's fresh! Also tastes great and many healthy options. Coffee is also great. There are some small tables and seats outside but the side wall is pretty narrow and busy so would not recommend. You can also order in advance and pickup, which is my preferred method. They have their own app too :)

Olivia P.

Yelp
Great service! Pretty slow on a Sunday morning so maybe that helped but they were super welcoming and generous!

Orli M.

Yelp
I was charged $7.20 for a small cortado after recalling paying on my card no more than $6 (which is still ridiculously expensive). The taste was (unexpectedly) awful too. This never happened to me in a decent/ high quality coffee shop. Avoid.

Nicole B.

Yelp
Found not one, but TWO (!!) plastic SHARDS in my avocado toast. To make matters worse, I just saw that I'm not the first customer who ordered from this location to experience this. So scary!! How does this happen?! Where is the quality control? How did NO ONE notice this before this avocado toast made its way to me?! What a waste of time and money! I've had good experiences (food & service) at other Bluestone locations in NYC, so maybe this location isn't a good one. I'll stick to ordering from other Bluestone locations in the city for now, unless I decide to take a break from Bluestone Lane altogether. Just sad all around.

Corinna W.

Yelp
Amazing nitro cold brew coffee! Staff was friendly. I've never tried Bluestone Lane before and now I will be here more often. It's a small shop, so I wouldn't sit in. Thankfully no one was in there when I stopped by; otherwise it would have felt a bit crowded. I don't know what the price of coffee is anymore, but I'd gladly pay the $6-$7 for what I had.

Diana S.

Yelp
I was looking forward for coffee in the morning. The coffee I ordered was a hot macchiato. I just don't feel like I got enough coffee caffeine for the price I paid. Not enough sweetener. the cup was basically milk and one shot of espresso.

Matthew M.

Yelp
Busy spot, decent for a quick on the run morning. Got the avocado toast - shouldn't have to check boxes for correct items in the order. Had to trek back after a 10 min walk to the office to swap for my correct order. Not sure how they are poaching their eggs, maybe running them under a hot tap, but they may as well should have just handed me a raw egg to crack over the top. Gross, and no more.

Jenifer K.

Yelp
Amazing coffee shop! I wake up early on Sunday's and they are always super friendly and have great breakfast sandwiches!

Desiree C.

Yelp
Very friendly and helpful staff . Only vanilla syrup but my coffee was still good. Not pet friendly does have a small area to dine in . Pastries look good but I didn't try! Always good to check out these local spots .

Vicki M.

Yelp
Really small coffee shop that was a bit overcrowded. I ordered the golden latte with an espresso shot, which was pretty good. The staff was clearly overworked and struggling to keep up with the influx of orders (lots of yelling going around). Drinks seem decent, but maybe avoid this place during the morning or lunch rush (if you don't want additional stress in your probably already hectic city life).

Rebecca H.

Yelp
Kimberly and Kenny were so kind and helpful! They made great recommendations and the drinks were delicious! The store was very clean, we would definitely come back.

Kamy K.

Yelp
I recommande Bluestone Lane, 400 Madison to all my friends..I love the vibe there, it has a great team dynamic! The service and food has been amazing. Anthony is a great team leader.

Gary L.

Yelp
Just look at the attached photo. This is how the avocado toast was delivered to our office this morning. This should never happen. They did refund us but it doesn't even matter. If my coworker bit into this and swallowed the plastic it could have led to serious harm. How careless does the kitchen need to be to send out food looking like this???

Dominik D.

Yelp
It's a crowded location. I was getting stressed just being here for a few minutes. Despite that, the barista quickly and politely made my drink despite me showing up noticeably earlier than the time I placed my order for. Even though it's just iced coffee with milk, it's quite good. The employee's professionalism wasn't lost on me.

Sally H.

Yelp
Servers are so sweet. Food is delicious. The goddess salad is perfect as is the avocado toast. Also they have amazing smoothies. I just discovered this place but really really love and go multiple times a week since it's my favorite restaurant close to the office

Scott B.

Yelp
Maybe I'm just a sucker for a good flat white that reminds being of being in Australia, but I really enjoyed not only the coffee here but also the avo toast. Coffee was perfectly roasted and really love flat whites, and the avo toast with an egg put the whole thing together. Definitely will be repeat customer. However I'd like to propose instead of shortening Avocado to Avo, we all call it Cad instead (sounds like kod). Yeah that's a fish name I know that but I would rather call something a cod toast than an avo toast since it has 1 syllable and just rolls off the tongue easier, at least it does on mine. Who's with me? Cod toasts?

Danny L.

Yelp
Breakfast burrito came like this lol, first time this happened. Was pretty terrible. They didnt press it, forgot the mayo in it too. Someone should be doing QC on this

Lee B.

Yelp
Tea was so hot it burned my hand just holding the cup. If you want a tea you can't drink for 3 days, go here, otherwise don't waste your $. The servers were rude & seemed to want to deliberately make my tea hotter the the face of the sun. I should have complained, but feared the servers would somehow make it hotter to where the cup would melt and burn them, which they deserved.

Brittany O.

Yelp
Allergy friendly. Eco friendly. Extremely friendly baristas. Their menu clearly identifies allergens and they took great care to modify our orders to accommodate our allergies. Coffee was delicious! Gluten free banana bread was so soft. The avocado toast was worth returning every day of our trip.

Manda R.

Yelp
Amazing service! Very relaxing atmosphere with an amazing Piccolo drink provided by Walter, the teacher of swans. I appreciate baristas that are friendly, smart, and talented due to hard work and determination. Thank you to all the employees of Bluestone for providing an amazing atmosphere in the midst of busy Manhattan.

Chan C.

Yelp
So slow and the attitude is very bad... the smoothie also taste like nothing but banana

Sunny F.

Yelp
Had the worst customer service at this store. The ladies who served us were incredibly rude, and we felt really unsafe around them. The server made my friend a small matcha latte while she ordered large. She asked the server to exchange it to large but the server insisted my friend specifically said 12oz. When my friend passed over her cup to the server, she immediately removed the label and threw it away to hide the evidence. My friend had a bank notification on the order that shows the price of the large drink, so we can tell that the server lied to our face. The lady started remaking the drink, but she was slamming the appliances and making a loud noise to intimidate us, which made us feel very unsafe and we almost felt like she would harm us physically. My friend told the server that she felt uncomfortable, but she never apologized and kept yelling at us. The manager (?) in the back heard us and came out and said "but we remade your drink" again with an attitude, no apologies. Needless to say, the drinks was lukewarm since she just added the milk to remake it.

Natsumi M.

Yelp
I would love to give them 0 star. The worst coffee shop ever. I went to there with my co workers today. I ordered large matcha and they gave me small one. So I told them that I ordered large one. The server attitude changed and start slammed the cups etc. My co worker ordered small milo but she got larger one. My co workers and I were so confused. Finally, the server made my "large" matcha. She transfer my matcha that was in the previous small cup and added cold milk in it. My matcha was cold and the servers were so rude. I told her that my matcha is cold. And they said that "you said 12oz specifically." Which I NEVER said that. If I said 12oz why am I charged for large matcha? So I told her that "It was your mistake and you never said sorry and I had really bad experience here and my matcha was cold." The manager came and said that "yep and you got large matcha." The way servers reacted makes me and my coworkers very unsafe. I never want to go back to there.

Gil L.

Yelp
Neat small coffee/smoothies and pastries. Small, little seating available, so grab to go or get lucky.

Cynthia L.

Yelp
I am a fan of Aussie coffee! Bluestone Lane was the one who introduced me to the wonderful world of Aussie coffee! Flat Whites here are perfect. Coffee flavors are bold with just the right amount of creaminess. For breakfast or a snack, Avocado Smash Toast is the way to go. Multigrain toast topped with a generous spread of smashed avocado topped with red pepper flakes, olive oil, and lemon juice. Brand new and comfortable environment to enjoy coffee in! This is their second Midtown East location and closest one to me, so I'll be returning often! Download their Rewards app and remember, no cash!

Nelson W.

Yelp
Once the dust settled after some initial opening kinks, Bluestone Lane on Mad Ave is now a destination spot for quality coffee Australia-style. Known for their amazing long blacks (improved version of the Americano for the uninitiated), this no-frills location brings BL coffee to an under-served area in the heart of midtown. In addition to quality coffee, the delicious cookies and banana bread are also making regular appearances at this location. This is a welcomed alternative to the Gregorys and Macchiato chains that clog up midtown east and west. Here is to hoping the BL espresso and coffee stay great without falling victim to the inevitable compromising of quality due to rapid expansion. Fingers-crossed!

Gabriella B.

Yelp
Such a cute spot with great coffee! Love it- not too strong and not too mild in flavor. Really rich & wakes you up to get you going on your day. Will definitely be back:)

Rose M.

Yelp
i ordered a 12 oz. cappuccino with oat milk. it was great. 10/10. employees were friendly. a little pricy but worth it if you're looking for good coffee.

C. B.

Yelp
Despite how convenient this location is to my office, I will be skipping it going forward. There are three workers here and two out of the three of them are rude and unprofessional in a condescending manner. When I come to pick up my orders, the tall blonde guy always manages to make snide remarks about what I've ordered as if to mock me and smirks and laughs and there is another guy who clearly is not pleased by my presence. Will not tolerate spending my money some place where the staff acts like immature assholes. Seems like there are a few locations where customer service sucks...

Hailey N.

Yelp
Went for a Midtown coffee run and finally tried out this place after passing by a few times. Door had a sign that said cashless. There was also a sign below for $5 credit when you download the app. (super easy to download and create an account) You automatically get the credit right away. Order a small chai latte ($4). smelled amazing, not too sweet. Service was quick and efficient. It looked busy when we got in, but people go in and out easily. This will be on my coffee rotation list. yay for free coffee

Alexandra S.

Yelp
Great avocado toast however I ordered my toast (and paid for) with tomatoes. Once I got back to my office I realized that my toast was lacking the one extra I added, and paid for. This location is definitely lacking listening skills. After discussing with the company they made sure to rectify the situation. Because of their dedication to service, I am updating my review to 5 stars.

Andrea F.

Yelp
Great coffee and service. My order is always ready on time when I place mobile orders.

Todd K.

Yelp
We love this quaint coffee shop. The staff are some of the nicest people we have met in NYC during our stay here!

Luke S.

Yelp
They might label themselves as an Australian coffee shop, but if they ran a store like this in Sydney they'd be broke in five minutes. Ignoring the fact that $6 for a coffee is ridiculous, the staff seem consistently overwhelmed by a relatively small number of customers. I'm not sure if training is not up to scratch or what, but It seems like no matter when I turn up, I end up waiting 10-15 mins for a coffee, even when the store isn't busy. Some of the other Bluestone's I've been to aren't bad at all, but this place is a joke.

Stephanie D.

Yelp
cute cute cute! This location is one of the more adorable Bluestone Lane locations. Btw, the macchiato's here are true macchiatos (meaning they are single/double shot espressos). THEY HAVE OAT MILK!

Richard C.

Yelp
Stopped in here at 3:40pm for a coffee!... $3.54 for a 12oz coffee and I had to pay with a credit card!... wasn't even hot.... outrageous. The day street vendors sell better, hotter coffee this size for $1.50..... NYC along with DeBozo as a mayor is a disaster. Another year I retire and run from this overpriced low quality of life cesspool of a city, good riddance to this liberal crap-hole

Brady M.

Yelp
Very delicious banana bread and accommodating to my complicated list of allergies, also the baristas were very nice. I will definitely eat here again.
