"Among the city’s many coffee shops and dinettes, Houstonians may have noticed the addition of an attractive newcomer: Bluestone Lane. Locations of the all-day cafe and coffee shop with an Australian twist, boasting stark white exteriors with pops of blue, have opened in high traffic areas around town. A standalone building graces West 19th in the Heights, while a location is tucked among the retail shops in Post Oak Plaza in Uptown, and a new outpost is set to open on University in Rice Village this weekend." - Megha McSwain

My recent visit to Bluelane Stone Restaurant had its ups and downs. The burger was undeniably amazing, leaving me satisfied and craving more. However, I was disappointed to find the baby chair we used, the server was very kind and brought it over to the table. But it was in need of a good clean; thankfully, a cover for the shopping cart when we go to the grocery store was in my car came to the rescue. Additionally, the arugula on the avocado egg toast seemed past its prime, requiring me to remove it before enjoying my meal. While the food was enjoyable, attention to cleanliness and freshness could elevate the dining experience. The fresh juice was good!

Still thinking of the lemon ricotta pancakes. Came here for brunch with my family. Quick service especially for a dine in experience. Attentive staff. Yummy food. Parking is garage parking but that is typical for that area of town. It’s also free within a few hours time limit

Visited on a Thursday brunch time. Rory was our server. He gave excellent recommendations when we asked him (as first time diners). Coffee was great. Had the athlete burrito and shared pancakes as a table. Delicious ! We’ll be back.

The restaurant was packed with customers and there was only a Barista and a single server running the show. There wasn’t a single table not attended too. The food and drinks came out on time and everyone was happy. The server was moving 100 miles an hour to make sure each customer was properly tended too. The food and coffee were absolutely amazing. At the end of our meal I complimented them and asked their names. Shout out to Elida and Samantha at Bluestone Lane at being incredibly good at their job. -Shay

I love bluestone lane usually, I will order online, when I was in nyc it was one of my faves, when on Saturday to this location which I had come but only for a quick bite or a coffee, the hostess was super friendly but the 2 servers that came up too us, 2 diferente guys where extremely rude, and my matcha was all cold and not even good, the first server didn’t even bother to great us and when I ask to switch tables we was rude an told me the people where not leaving anytime soon, 2 minutes later they left the table, I had to ask the next server that came by if we can switch which again he gave me attitude which I was confuse cause it wasn’t even busy. Food took forever and it wasn’t even warm. At this point we just wanted to leave

I met some girlfriends here for lunch for the first time. The food and coffee were photo-worthy, and our server, Rory, was so kind and helpful. This will definitely not be the last time we dine here.

Google
The food is excellent. They know how to cook. Plating was beautiful. But pricey but expected in Rice Village.

I wish I could rate this place higher, but maybe it was just a busy day. The service was very slow and poor communication between waitresses, but presentation, taste, and appeal were top notch! I got the breakfast bowl and it was to die for, as well as their coconut water cold brew. My friends got the BL burrito and turned over eggs, and they only had positive things to say!

Yelp
Overall slightly over priced brunch without any special fan fare. I got the Melbourne breakfast - pretty presentation but not sure what makes this stack of pancakes any more special than regular american pancakes. My friend got the BLATE which looked pretty good The Aussie iced latte was delicious Service was decent it didn't take too long to find a table or get food Inside was a pretty place but aside from being instagram-able it doesn't stick out to me

Yelp
Poor service with waitress with very bad attitude...food and beverage order was messed up...hot coffee brought when iced coffee ordered, forgot added side of grilled chicken to breakfast bowl, added poached eggs on the avocado smash came out cold, hot chocolate ordered never made it at all, toddlers sprinkle toast brought out last...I could go on and on! Way over-priced for messed up nothing special food! Will NEVER return!

Yelp
Located in the rice village shopping plaza, clean on the inside and service was good. Standard breakfast fare, everything was made from scratch. I had the draught flat white but it was ok. Parking in the attached garage, free for two hours.

Yelp
Took my boyfriend here for his birthday breakfast and we had a pretty good experience. We were greeted upon arrival and seated immediately. The waitress also came pretty quick to check on us and take our coffee orders. I got the iced vanilla latte and my boyfriend got the long black coffee. My latte was AMAZING--one of the best latte's I have had. I would definitely come back here for the coffee. My boyfriend enjoyed his as well. We came on a sunny morning, so it was very bright in the cafe, due to the multiple open windows. I loved the ambiance and the cheerful environment. Moving on to the food, I got the brekkie board, which comes with half portions of the avocado smash and the collective granola. I added spicy grilled chicken to my avocado smash for an extra $4, and the chicken was incredibly rubbery. The potential was there because the avocado smash itself was very good. However, the rubbery chicken kind of ruined the taste, but I am willing to try it again due to the yummy spice. If it is rubbery when I return, I will probably be lowering my rating, but I'm hoping it was a one-time thing. The granola was very good, but funnily had too much granola for my taste. I like an equal blend of granola, yogurt/cream, and fruit, but this was very heavy on the bottom portion of the dry granola. My boyfriend got the BL burrito and said it was okay, but nothing spectacular. Overall, I think this is a fun, quick place to grab breakfast, but not something I'm going to have cravings for. The coffee is the star here, and the food is not bad (though not worth how much they charge, in my opinion). We will be back soon to try it out again, and will be updating this review.

Yelp
Really liked this place. The cookie skillet was good. Service was good. Coffee was good. We saw people working there.

Ciara D.

Yelp
Oh this was so good.... Actually this was great. I had the avocado scramble with the vanilla protein shake. The protein shake was top 2. I added chicken to my scramble. Everything was so fresh I truly appreciated this meal. There was free two hour parking in the garage as well. Service was amazing. I would recommend as I will be returning to try more items on the menu. My one con is for outdoor dining. The have tables outside that do not appear to be sanitized. They leave cups rim down on the tables with no coasts or place mar or any sort. I'm usually a water drinker but seeing those cups like that. Water from those cups were the last thing on my mind.

Yelp
Experience was totally ruined by rude and totally detached waitress. The hostess was very nice and helping out, but the actual waitress had an unbearablely bad attitude. Food was ok, somewhat bland, but not terrible, other than the bacon which is actually better at any Hampton Inn.

Yelp
This is listed as a coffee shop but it's really more than that. Located in where Bath and Body Works used to be in Rice Village, we stopped by (2 adults, 2 kids aged 2 and 6) while in the area and trying to get out of the heat on a Tuesday. It is a chain from Australia. As you walk in, you have the choice to be seated or not. They have a to go option as well. There is a small baked goods display case. We opted to be seated and you'll get a menu. Because it's a coffee shop, you might need to wait a few minutes for someone to seat you... or just walk towards the counter. We did have a waitress but she disappeared after we placed our orders... she sat at a table two over from us with another employee studying. She was friendly when she was helping but we didn't really see her again. The place is quite airy and I can definitely see it being by the coast. We ordered: LEMON RICOTTA PANCAKES: this is the prettiest dish of pancakes I've ever ordered in my life. It came with an orchid! I didn't even know they were edible! Lol. The pancakes were great as well as the cream. It actually comes with the ricotta layered on top which is new to me. I'm used to ricotta pancakes having the ricotta in the batter itself. Having it on top along with the cream, plus syrup on the side and berries helped keep them moist. BERRY BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE: I got this for my youngest who is likely allergic to most everything there except for maybe oatmeal but he's not terribly fond of that. He did drink some but didn't love it. I finished most of it and it tastes really healthy. They definitely use ice cubes in there, haha. The flavors were more mild so you know they used the real fruit, haha. It is $9.5 a cup though. CHOCOLATE CROISSANT: this was for my daughter whose go-to pastry is the pain au chocolat. It's pretty good? I only ate it as leftovers so I can't say for sure but they do use the chocolate sticks traditionally used for pain au chocolat. She ate at least 1/3 of it so that's promising. I might need another trip to get a better idea of the food. I'm intrigued by some of their chocolate drinks and this Milo I've heard of but never tried so those will definitely be ordered next time. I would have ordered it but I knew I'd be finishing the smoothie, haha. Overall, nice place. Most of the tables were full of friends mingling or for business. Even a few laptops so you can linger. It is on the pricey side but I didn't think the pancakes were priced too high with how it tasted and the presentation. The smoothie... I felt like I could make that with my Vitamix. I don't like too much ice in my smoothies.

Yelp
Nestled right next to the parking garage in Rice Village, Bluestone Lane, I've discovered is a serious gem. Non-pretentious, friendly, and genuinely helpful staff - all very young - which made the fact that they were so attentive and well trained even that much more special. Bright and casual atmosphere was crowded but not too crowded (on a Saturday afternoon). So...the most important thing...the food. Oat milk latte with vanilla - excellent! Chai latte - a little on the sweet side, but good balance of spice Bayside burger - outstanding. Cooked to perfection, brioche and fig jam and carmellized onions and...oh jeez I'm getting hungry again just writing about it. Green baked eggs - hearty, healthy, tasty. I loved it all. This will probably become a regular spot for me now.

Yelp
I've come a couple times for brunch with friends. Has a healthy menu and lots of coffee options. The service was prompt and they were very nice when there was an order mistake with my companion. Ambiance is light and cute, saw some people studying but it might me a little loud for me. Garage parking for free right outside of it.

Sandra M.

Yelp
Good spot for brunch- Tasty food (especially the potato wedges) and servers were super kind and willing to make substitutions. I wouldn't be comfortable going here to study or work though. I went at a time when it wasn't super busy, and there were a few people around me on their laptops. However, because all the tables are waited, I would be uncomfortable about wasting their time. Also, during lunch and breakfast rushes, the tables would turn around super quickly and you would be taking a spot. Otherwise, it's a good spot for food and conversation.

Yelp
Bluestone Lane is an NYC-based Australian café chain founded by an ex-footballer that has now expanded to include three outposts in the Houston metroplex. The aesthetic both outside and inside is trendy and coastal, with lots of tile and white-and-blue accents. The Rice Village location has a tiny patio with some small tables and umbrellas for shade. Service was great. The coffee was quite tasty, though I must say that my flat white (the modern version of which apparently originated in Australia) was very sugary so don't be afraid to adjust the specs if needed. The menu is health food-focused and vegetarian-friendly, while also being very reasonably priced for the area. The Impossible Bayside Burger was very juicy, paired with gooey cheddar, caramelized onions, a sweet and tangy fig jam, arugula, and nicely toasted brioche buns. If you like beef burgers, you will like this too. There were scant wedge fries on the plate, but they were crispy and fluffy and well-seasoned. An approachable but unique take on brunch/lunch that should appease all comers. Perfect spot for a caffeine fix or a quick bite pre- or mid-shopping.

Yelp
Ambience is the best thing about this place--seems like a great, fairly quiet place for a weekday work meeting. Everyone on the wait staff was kind and attentive, though two mistakes were made on my order (one was very minor and the other--the wrong drink order--was quickly remedied. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't anything to write home about. Very equivalent to something I could easily throw together at home. You have to pay to park (not much, but it's a hassle) so it's not the kind of place you'd go for a quick coffee. One thing kinda annoyed me though--they made my sandwich with the ends of the loaf. I ate it and didn't say anything about it, but loaf ends aren't known for being tasty and they don't toast/warm well. Sorta struck me as either cheap or lazy. Coffee quality was so-so. Would come back for a work meeting but it won't be in my regular rotation. Staff is doing their best. The little tweaks seem to be things management could tend to. This place has a lot of potential but they aren't quite living up to it yet.

Yelp
Food and drinks were just ok. I would not go out of my way to eat here again because the coffee was very acidic, and my Mediterranean chicken bowl was extremely bland. The tahini dressing was disgusting and disappointing. The chicken was undercooked. Overall, I found the place dull, including the service. We had to ask multiple servers multiple times for water, and our food did not come out in an orderly fashion - it came all at once. We didn't even get to sip our drinks before the food. That killed the vibe for us. Regarding location and aesthetics, these were great - bright/white/coastal vibes. Very cute and chic. Shame it didn't measure up to the expectations we had of it.

Yelp
Great service and food This was my first time here. I found it through Yelp , trying to find a brunch place near another business in Rice Village. Even though they were busy there want much of a wait time. There were a few things I wanted to try from their menu. To drink I got the iced chai latte which was very good. For brunch I couldn't make up my mind between the avocado toast and the granola with yogurt so I got the brekkie board which includes both. The granola was very different than the stuff at the grocery store. It wasn't balled up clumps but individual seasoned seeds. It was filling without being too much. Everyone in the staff was very attentive and friendly. We didn't wait long for food or for the check.

Leslie K.

Yelp
The coffee and food is a-okay. The food was a little bland, but made with good quality ingredients. The restaurant has a very cute aesthetic.

Samantha W.

Yelp
This spot has so much potential but I think the concept is kind of confusing. When I walked in I was under the impression it was counter service but the server took me to sit down at a table and handed me a menu. However there was also a QR code on the desk. I scanned that and noticed that the menus had different items. So then I was off to a bad start. When the server came back I was asking about the specialty coffees and she didn't know what any of them were. I was kind of frustrated but she went away to get more information. In the meantime I found them on the online menu and there were descriptions. When she came back I asked if I could order something from the online menu and she said yes it comes from the "over there" and points inside to the counter. This is when I surmised that you can either sit down or just order at the counter. So I ordered an iced latte (was on both menus) and a cheese, ham, and tomato toastie, and water. She returned and informed me that there were no toasties. So then we ordered a wrap to share from the paper menu. We sat outside for a little while with no drinks or anything and then I think a manager came outside and she appeared to have her stuff together. she asked if we'd been helped and we told her we ordered already. She then said she'd bring us some water. Anyway, then we got our water, coffees, and food. The wrap was really really good. Like as soon as I bit into it I was no longer frustrated. The latte was too milky. When I walked inside to use the restroom I noticed some sad looking bakery items in a glass case on the counter, I don't know if they were for display or actual things you order. Or what menu they're on. All in all it was OK but disorganized. I'm not sure I'd go back but if I did, I'd just get coffee. And something basic. Making it all counter service would just be easier in my opinion.

Yelp
After reading some negative reviews about this place, I was skeptical. But I was very impressed with this place, and I will definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a relaxing place for brunch. Came here early Saturday morning, there was no wait, and outdoor seating is incredibly lovely. Service was impeccable, every staff is super upbeat, friendly and welcoming. Interior decoration is modern and clean, it has coastal vibes. I love all the serveware here too, everything is so cute. Food is absolutely amazing, 10/10 for presentation and flavors. I highly recommend: Green baked eggs: it comes a big slice of multigrain bread, eggs are baked to perfection topped with feta cheese, and it has a variety of vegetables. It is a healthy and light option. Vegetarian Big brekkie: Big portion and very filling, ingredients are fresh, and the combination of halloumi cheese, poached eggs and roasted vegetables and the avocado toast is out of the world tasty. Lemon Ricotta pancakes: the pancakes are fluffy and even have dried berries in the batter, topped with sweet whipped ricotta and lemon curb, and edible flower pedals. 10/10. I love how it comes in a skillet, and maple syrup in a small glass bottle. It is so adorable. For West U location, they also have roasted Brussel sprouts with maple syrup. Brussel sprouts are crispy and not too oily, sauce is just the right amount. A great side dish to share. Can't wait to come back next.

Yelp
We visited Bluestone Lane today after seeing a really appealing video on IG that made us excited to stop by. The spot itself is very cute and has a really chill vibe. Each of the servers we interacted with were friendly and attentive, as well. My husband enjoyed the warmed chicken and ancient grains bowl that he ordered, but unfortunately I did not enjoy the green baked eggs or lemon ricotta pancakes very much :( The presentation of the food was great (as you can see in the pictures) so I was very excited to give it a taste. I don't know if I was having an off day or maybe I just didn't order their best items, but I didn't finish either of the dishes and wouldn't recommend them. The baked green eggs on the menu sounded SO good, but to me they seemed quite over cooked - the eggs were so well done that the yolks were dry and crumbly which didn't make for a good taste or texture. I feel like if the eggs had been soft-cooked or runny it would have been significantly more tasty. Regarding the pancakes: Again, they looked SO visually appealing when they were served, so hopes were high but both my husband and I agreed that the texture of the cakes was dense and just off in some way. I only had three bites which made me very sad because I was anticipating greatness! One thing I can say is that I am a tea lover and the cold brewed Melbourne Brekkie tea was lovely! Given how cute this place is and how nice the employees were, I might consider giving it another try sometime, but I wouldn't reorder the items I tried today.

Kelly C.

Yelp
Cute brunch spot with lots of healthy options! Definitely recommend the chimichurri eggs. The outdoor seating is really nice.

Steve C.

Yelp
Nice menu and physical venue. Cheery college students waiting tables with a smile. Food is great and a lot as it should be for the price. Pro tip: paid parking on the street and surface lot. Go to the parking garage and you get 2 hours free.

Sofy S.

Yelp
Small gem, great lighting inside and cute table outside. Coffees are just okay I know is big part of their brand but they aren't as great as they look. Food however taste very clean and fresh.Presentation is pretty and overall I left super full couldn't finish my plate, I got the pancakes and they are super dense enough to make me fell satify for a good 6ish hours. So I highly recommend those.

Sandy C.

Yelp
The worst food. Hey if your happy to eat 2 eggs and a spit of greens, and pay like you're a millionaire. This is your place. I love trying new places, yet will keep going back to places that really impress, have great service, and good taste yummy. This place had the nice waitress. But, food was awful, no taste, and my matcha coffee was not natural. It was powdery, so Groase. And, I've had many at other places. Stay away from this place. I am doing you a favor.

Lorraine I.

Yelp
Very noisy place Super loud I couldn't even want to sit there for more than 15 mins the coffee was ok and the ridiculous part is that charge for milk, one dollar which is stupid Service is slow and I don't know what else to say.

Calvin W.

Yelp
This much-welcomed addition to Rice Village delivers on a wonderful environment, delicious coffee, and healthy meals--all for good value! I've come here many times, having had the latte, Kenyan long black and iced milo. Coffee snobs, note that their house blend is a nice medium-dark-ish roast that is distinctly cacao-dominant. It pairs great with latte, and I can't wait to see how it plays in Americano or even straight espresso. I'm also excited to try their fruitier blonde roast, although I don't think they brew it instore. Worth asking, though. The Kenyan long black was honestly somewhat unremarkable, and I will have to return to see how the house blend performs in water. I also ordered the pictured iced milo, a childhood favorite of many a commonwealth national. Would have preferred more milo powder, even to the point of being more like a Milo Dinosaur (if you know you know). Instead, it was quite light on the Milo and had a scoop of ice cream instead. Also, the provided spoon came submerged in the drink, so it was hard to handle the spoon without getting hands dirty. Would recommend serving it on the side and with napkin in the future. Our waitstaff, Lakhai, was refreshingly welcoming and always attentive to our needs. Outstanding service here is a definite draw. This spot fills a wide niche--study coffeeshop, meetup place, brunch spot, dinner joint-- and all on good value. Rice Village has a new standard for dining, and I can see myself becoming a regular here.

MC F.

Yelp
Excellent coffee shop in Rice Village! Lots to love here: bright and spotless, fresh decor, soaring ceilings, and a warm and welcoming environment delivered by a friendly staff. The cold brew was smooth and delicious, and the prosciutto egg bites were savory and satisfying with a kick from red pepper flakes. I wanted to try the other version, but they were out of it (even though it was displayed in the case.) I'll definitely be back!

Courtney W.

Yelp
This rice village spot has been on my radar for a bit and I finally tried it for weekend brunch. Close to the garage exit so easy to get to. Plenty of seating including outdoors. Service is decent and food comes out relatively fast. Menu is pretty typical for American breakfast, nothing is that special. Iced latte was just ok, pretty standard. I got the breakfast sandwich. Nice runny egg. But honestly seems like something I could easy put together at home. Potato wedges are crispy and salty but I wish the serving came with more of them. Overall sub par for the price, would expect more unique dishes bigger portions for the price point.

Danny A.

Yelp
Outstanding food as always. Tried the burger and it was awesome. The outdoor seating is definitely a plus too. Don't forget the juices too.

Bailey C.

Yelp
Not bad, not great. Wouldn't go back. Too many other options. Cappuccino was good, I've had better. Pancakes were OK, not bad but again wouldn't go back.

Yelp
Yaaayy for Bluestone lane in rice village! I first tried this place in SF and I was super impressed! Excellent coffee. So now that there is a full cafe I had to visit! I tried a chai latte and it was Excellent! I'm not sure if it's home made or a pre-made mix but it was absolutely perfect. I also tried the veggie breakfast sandwich and it was sooooo good! Very savory and super good. It had garlic in it which was a pleasant surprise! Now the only thing I didn't like or realize that it was made with an over easy egg. I don't like my eggs that way so next time I'll definitely get it cooked hard. But it was still great! I look forward to visiting again and trying more things on the menu.

Jenn D.

Yelp
I come here often for coffee and today a quick bite. Ordered the soft chili scramble.. didn't have the bread so I thought I deserved a side of pancakes. I only had an hr to chill and was surprised at the super fast service! My server Sybil was awesome and Elida has always been attentive and helpful. I see her here most times and she's always been so friendly! Thank you for my pancakes!!!

Katherine T.

Yelp
The breakfast and coffee is pretty standard! I enjoyed the Iced Magic because it was strong and not too sweet. The breakfast plates are simple & will satisfy your breakfast cravings. I did love the potato wedges that came with the B.L.A.T.E. though. They had a light crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and topped with flaky salt. The servers are all friendly and helpful, and the restaurant itself is so bright and cheerful.

Melodi D.

Yelp
Was really looking forward to trying out this new café that opened up in Rice Village--I was definitely a bit disappointed with my experience. When we came in, we were seated fairly quickly, but it was a real struggle to get any of the waitstaff's attention after that. It seemed like there was not a single server assigned to the table; instead, we had to wave someone down every time we wanted to order or pay the check. And it was really difficult to get anyone's attention. We were waiting a really long time to order and an even longer time to receive our food and drinks. I'm not sure if they were understaffed or still getting into the swing of things, but the service was a huge downside to this establishment. The food, unfortunately, was not amazing either. I ordered the Lemon Ricotta pancakes, and while they weren't bad, they were somewhat bland and even tasted a little burnt. The heirloom carrots were pretty good, definitely the highlight of my meal. The iced chai latte was very milky--I wish the chai flavor was stronger. My friends enjoyed their meals somewhat, so it seems like across the board, the food and drinks were just okay. As for the upsides of the place: the atmosphere of the café is lovely! Lots of natural light, pretty colors. It would be a good place to drop by and catch up with friends if you are in the area. I don't see myself going out of my way to come here again, though. It was far too expensive for the experience I had, and there are other brunch places I would prefer.

Yelp
Upon arrival I am not even sure if we were greeted but that's not something I really care for at a coffee shop. However, this place was almost empty, had maybe three or four customers in total sparsely seated across the dining area. One of them was on a laptop in a very passionate work video call. Kudos. Great atmosphere for remote work. Noted. When we arrived at the counter we asked about the different flavors and options as it was not apparent from reading the menu which may as well have been The Code of Hammurabi. Thankfully, our cashier knew what each thing was and explained in detail. When we placed our order, we were asked if it was for here or to go and we explicitly stated that we were going to be dining in. Yet we were provided with to go cups and our cookie was warm and gooey which caused it to halfway disintegrate inside the waxy paper, which by the way did a horrible job of letting it slide out. Thankfully there were napkins at the table where we were able to clean up. My iced latte had no flavor. I am not sure if they mistakenly used oat milk but it just did not taste right. I really hope they don't do this sorta mix up on a regular basis. This can be quite a hazard for people who are lactose intolerant or have other serious allergies. tl;dr insipid coffe, superb ambiance, disingenuous customer service

Courtney C.

Yelp
Vibe- This is a nice spot that sits right in Rice Village on Kirby Drive. They have plenty of tables outside :) there's also plenty of seating inside. They have a menu with breakfast items, lunch items, smoothies, and coffee too. Customer service- Great! My server was very kind and all of those I encountered were too! Food/drinks- I got a burrito with potatoes, avocado, and a sauce. It came with potatoes wedges on the side; everything was delicious. Parking- There's parking by the restaurant but it can be a busy area so parking in the garage right next to the restaurant can be an option.

Lotus H.

Yelp
Great coffee! Rubbery pancakes Sat. morning breakfast - easy free 2 hr. pkng in garage behind cafe. Ordered Lemon Ricotta pancakes- great presentation until you cut into it- seems they were reheated in microwave or over beaten batter. All the flavor is in the topping of lemon curd, ricotta and berries- pancakes didn't taste lemony at all- not made with ricotta. Hubby got the Green Egg Bake- was very tasty with mushrooms, spinach and baked egg- like a frittata. Accompanied thick sliced oat bread was equally good! Waitstaff was uber friendly but slow to get to our order. Deserves a second try.

Yelp
It was alright. I didn't read my yelp reviews until after the visit, so I wasn't expecting the hostess. She kindly directed me to the counter for my to-go order. Cashier was friendly and offered recommendations after I asked. I tried the soft scramble with chili oil deal, but asked the kitchen to scramble my eggs all the way. (Soft, wet eggs? *shudders). I also ordered an almond milk latte. Everything was fairly satisfying. Good flavors and good portions. I don't know that I'd come back, the price point is high for breakfast. Give it a go if you have time to sit and take in the cutesy dining area. Two word review: I mean....

Yelp
The ambiance of this place is so nice. It has great lighting, the staff were really nice! I came on their opening day, and it looks like everything came nicely together in time! They have a pretty big menu, so it's easy to find something for everyone. They even have a contactless ordering option where you can scan a QR code and order from the web/app. Everything went very smoothly -- from being seated, to ordering, to the service and to leaving. Our sever, Lakhai, was super welcoming and sweet :) We got told the cappuccino was a famous drink, so I had to order one! It comes with chocolate shavings on top and it adds a nice sweetness. The latte tastes great-- their house blend, the Maverick, is a nicely done chocolate-forward medium roast that plays nice with the milk. Of note, the barista was a surprisingly good latte artist. We saw some people studying here, so this place is pretty flexible in terms of if you wanted to study, or use it as a lunch spot. I would suggest adding a "bathroom" sign to the door that leads to the bathroom. We weren't sure if that was a door customers were allowed to use since it only had "exit" written above it

Yelp
I'm not really sure which lane Bluestone Lane is trying to occupy with its new Rice Village location. All I am sure of is that it is over 100° outside, I'm beginning to feel drowsy, and I am in dire need of an iced caffeinated beverage. I opted for the Aussie iced latte, which turned out to be an overglorified Affogato. Against my better judgment I asked for a chocolate chip cookie. The cashier courteously asked if I wanted it for here or to-go and I opted for the former. I guess she misheard us or really wanted us to leave, because she brought our beverages out in cumbersome plastic to-go cups with the cookie cozily snuggled in a paper sleeve. So much non-biodegradable garbage, but at least the straw was paper. I can't lie, I'm a bit curious to try out other menu options, but I was not moved by my experience. I'm not certain I'll be returning to this location anytime soon.

Yelp
A nice new addition to rice village. I got the nitro cold brew with the oat milk (I forget what it's called) and it was delicious but a tad too sweet for me and I was CAFFEINATED the rest of the day. If I drink this again It needs to be the only caffeine I have all day. I got the chimichurri eggs and bacon toast as well. It said there were herbs in the eggs but I didn't really tasty any aside from a scattered onion. The chimichurri was around the plate instead of like in a good way to dip. The bacon was good. And then they put it on this honker slice of toast that was tasty but I wish it was thinner and toasted. It was so big I just got overwhelmed and didn't eat it. Solid food and coffee tho and would come back

Yelp
This place was cute, in a great area , and had a friendly staff. On the other hand, the drinks were so bad. Finding a good matcha in Houston is very hard and this place is no different, i feel like i tasted more water than anything. It was definitely not worth $8 sooo expensive for it just to taste bad.

Yelp
Friendly staff, good service, food came out fairly quick. I felt like the coffee could have used a bit more flavor but it wasn't bad. I ordered the athletes burrito and it was super yummy. Love the lentils in it. I did sub the side salad it typically comes with for some wedges and they did not disappoint. Glad I came across this place!

Yelp
So happy that Bluestone Lane is finally in Rice Village! No more driving all the way to the Heights for this yummy place. I am a big fan of the Brekkie Board - it's super filling and delicious and just the perfect Sunday breakfast. Servers are friendly and the restaurant has a very chill vibe!

Yelp
The first BL I had the pleasure of visiting was in NYC near the Cooper Hewitt. Suffice to say, I was beyond stoked when I found out one was opening up in Rice Village. If you're looking for breakfast or brunch, their menu is solid. If you're a remote worker like myself, looking to hole up with a stout cup of coffee and a crispy pastry, the ambiance is just as good--bright with a lot of windows, great music, and a lovely staff. My server, Elida, was very helpful.

Yelp
I've been here a few times now and each time I've thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the coffee. Service can be a little slow at times, but ultimately it's worth the wait. The vibe is fresh and trendy, but still relaxing. They are both vegetarian and gluten-free friendly, and their food is absolutely delicious. The soft chili scramble and vegetarian big brekkie are pretty hefty but are also big on flavor. The flat whites are super addicting, and the gluten-free banana bread is to die for.

Yelp
Noisy , horrible service , may possibly be a good place if the noise levels and service was good. Menu was dirty , seemed some had stepped on it. Food was meh as well , ordered soft scramble with avacado , daughter ordered the warm chicken bowl and e pressing regular coffee with cream and sugar after waiting like 20 plus minutes got the coffee , cream a and no sugar no spoon , waited for that , food itself wasn't much to rave for bread was hard and stale , coffee barely warm, asked for a refill but apparently it's a new order for coffee. Fine , eventually waiting for ever get my coffee had to flag down the server for the check. Just got told my bill is 49$ and some cents and the device is whipped in my face to the tips signature screen. SMH.

Yelp
Came here on Christmas Eve and the staff were so friendly. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich and a Matcha latte. Needless to say the Matcha latte was delicious.
