Bondi Harvest - Review - Santa Monica - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"I’ve lived in the United States for four years, but there are two things about Australia that I will always miss: the coffee and the breakfasts. You Yanks can keep your filter coffee and crispy fatty bacon -- I want my smooth flat whites and bacon that’s more meat than fat. Luckily, we Aussies in LA now have Bondi Harvest, where if you close your eyes and wave some eucalyptus under your nose, you could very well be back home. While Australian cafes seem to have thoroughly invaded NYC, LA doesn’t yet have a place for a flat white on every corner (no, the Starbucks version does not count). And luckily, Bondi Harvest isn’t trying to overcompensate by pushing the thunder from down under thing very hard. Despite what Outback Steakhouse might lead you to believe, “Australian food” isn’t some tacky theme with food served by people shouting “How’s it goin’ mate?”. Also not a thing: bloomin’ f*cking onions. photo credit: Holly Liss Bondi Harvest is instead a prime example of a thing we Australians take for granted, but is still kind of rare in the States: the excellent coffee place with just as excellent food. You place your order at the counter, but you do not have to hang around awkwardly waiting for your coffee -- they will bring it out to you. And like most cafes in Melbourne and Sydney, the food is reliably good. There are no revelations here: the menu is eggs, breakfast burritos, avo toast (we invented it, duh), bowls of healthy things, sandwiches (as the locals would say, sangas), and a burger. But the quality is higher than you’d expect and the Bondi Breakfast is the perfect homesickness remedy. The location - in the sort of industrial part of Santa Monica around Olympic and Bundy - also makes sense when you consider my countrypeople’s penchant for opening things down one-way streets in strange parts of town. It’s still a cute spot, with big white picnic tables outside and a few stools inside, and a local office crowd definitely pleased to have this place around. Even if you discount my clear bias for any and all things Australian (Vegemite tastes great, and netball is a real sport), Bondi Harvest is still worth your time. A breakfast or lunch here won’t ever disappoint, although it might lead to Googling of the phrase “how to get an Australian visa.” What can we say? It’s pretty great down under. Food Rundown Flat White This is what Australian coffee tastes like, and this is why all Australians are complete coffee snobs. One of the only places in the world where Starbucks has failed: Australia. Have a coffee here and you’ll understand why. photo credit: Holly Liss Bondi Breakfast Our only issue with this is that the kale should not be present. Otherwise, we’re grateful for a breakfast where each bit comes on one plate, the poached eggs don’t come in a weird bowl thing, and the bacon is soft enough to stab with a fork without shattering and doesn’t have a 9:1 fat-to-meat ratio. photo credit: Holly Liss Roast Chicken Sandwiches Another thing they’re good at down under? Sangas. Specifically roast chook sangas. This one is juicy as can be, and the thing to get if you’re here for lunch. photo credit: Holly Liss Whirley Bowl Yep, grain bowls aren’t just an LA thing (although we might have stolen them from you). This one is for when you need something particularly healthy, as it involves cauliflower rice, slaw, and fish. photo credit: Holly Liss The Harvest Burger Weirdly light, despite the fact that it has bacon and parmesan cheese in there. Somehow this works and somehow we never need a nap afterwards. photo credit: Holly Liss" - Jess Basser Sanders

Where To Eat Outside In Santa Monica

"Formerly known as Bondi Harvest, Bluey’s is an Australian cafe in Santa Monica that’s open for patio dining 7am-9pm (8am-9pm on weekends). They’ve got a great breakfast plate involving eggs, bacon, Tabasco kale, roasted tomatoes, and avocado, along with a bunch of sandwiches (like coconut-marinated chicken) you’ll want to order, and a new dinner menu. Plus, the coffee is phenomenal. First-come, first-served." - brett keating

Blueys Kitchen Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Taking over the space formerly occupied by Australian coffee cafe Bondi Harvest, Blueys is run by the same team, keeps much of the same menu - yes, they’re still making breakfast bowls and brewing flat whites - and the same cool, casual atmosphere, too. But they have added dinner service, and expanded their outdoor dining area, which makes Blueys an even more ideal spot for a coffee, a healthy bite, and a chat." - James Montgomery

Google
One of my fav spots to bring friends to when they visit. Tried the squash pancakes today and loved it! Honestly, everything I’ve tried here has been great. Especially the banana bread ✨

Google
i love this place especially on weekends, so many cute people there too. breakfast burrito and coffee for brunch is a perfect combo! could have a line on weekends but goes by pretty fast.

Google
Needed a spot nearby for brunch and this was highly recommended by a local resident as a "hidden gem". We ordered and found a spot outside in the shade though they have seating inside too. Coffee was decent and the breakfast chorizo hit the spot. My brunch partner was impressed with the hot sauce which turns out is their own brand though they had 2 others if it's not to your liking.

The atmosphere was great, and the food as well. The pancake it wasn’t bad, just not as amazing as I expected.

Google
This location is right by the beach with limited parking nearby especially on a Thursday in the morning as most signs state street cleaning from 8am-10am. We came here around 9:45am so right before the time ended. The location is very busy as you can see in the photos so we were seated outside which is nice as there are tables, chairs and benches. The food was an incredible American bistro and the sweet squash pancakes were crunchy and just right. The location is beautiful, up-kept and clean and a great place to work and enjoy your breakfast as this location was rather quiet despite how busy! It's also a great place to eat outside with your pups as most dog owners would come by for breakfast!

Google
I've loved this place for years. Great food, great drinks, and my favorite place to bring guests visiting LA. I love that they have vegan meat, vegan milks, and gluten free bread options (in addition to the usual things for my meat, gluten, and dairy loving friends). I love that you go right up and order (instead of waiting for a waiter), and can enjoy the breeze outside or inside.

Google
Get out of town, that was good! Or don't; actually, stay in town and eat at Bluey's! We're visiting and needed a "local" spot near the beach in Santa Monica. Bluey's was exactly what we were looking for! Very fresh and tasty breakfast. Super cool location too - tucked back in some old warehouses. We recommend it!

Google
A cute little hidden spot for a nice breakfast/brunch. There is parking in the front, but I’m never sure if we are really allowed to use it. Here you need to get in line to order your food and they will bring it to you after. The place can be crowded and you could wait some time, but there is a lot of space to sit around. It is very chill. There are a lot of options to choose from. I’ve tried a few things. This time, we got the Fried Egg Sandwich and the Bluey’s Burger. The sandwich is good with its sauce but gets very messy so just be prepared. Their fries are good. I have never tried the burger but was told it is good. I have tried their peanut butter shake, which I really enjoyed! Overall, the food is enjoyable and you get to sit outside. So, I would recommend this place for the overall experience and chill vibe.

Yelp
Such a cute cafe spot! Was recommended this spot & it did not disappoint, although the seating is limited I suggest coming early, ordering, and hoping to find a spot. I will say the service was not the greatest because it was confusing what drinks the servers were bringing out and what drinks were being left in the back. This resulted in us going back inside and finding our own drinks. I think the tandem service of bringing drinks out Can be a little bit more effective. Now for the food: Fried egg sandwich substitute with vegan chorizo 7.5/10: I really enjoyed that I was able to substitute vegan chorizo in this sandwich and it was pretty tasty. I will say! Fried egg sandwich (regular) 8.5/10: great sandwich! Matcha Horchata Latte 8.5/10: I enjoyed how you can actually taste the Horchata inside the latte sometimes it can be very watered down, but this was a beautiful mixture of Matcha and Horchata flavor! Over I would visit this restaurant again since I live so close to it! They have limited outdoor seating and minimal indoor seating. It does get pretty busy and seating does get taken up, I suggest having some people wait in line and some people looking for tables from your party!

Yelp
Experience was very meh. Nothing bad, but nothing overly great either. How the service works is a bit confusing, there's not really any signs or people around to explain what you need to do, where the line starts, etc so we just got in a random line, ordered, got a number for our order, and then sat at a free table. one of the bussers came over confused as to why we were sitting and why we had dishes AND a table number, we explained we're waiting on food and the dishes were from the previous party, she goes "okay yeah next time don't seat yourself until the table has been cleaned". Erm...okay yeah sure. That is typically what we would do at a restaurant that doesn't have servers but it was so busy we didn't want to Chance losing the table so sat wherever was open. To note, after all that explaining, they grabbed the dishes that weren't ours but did not wipe the table down... they scolded another group of people next to us for similar misunderstanding. Anyway, The employees working there do not seem happy, my drink was slammed onto our table and spilled, no one cracked a smiled and looked soooo inconvenienced when we had any questions. Really cute restaurant, cute merch I even wanted to buy but there were no prices and again, every question we had seemed like an issue so didn't even bother. Food was pretty good and filling! Although we felt like our chicken Sando was missing something, and realized you can't have a chicken sandwich without pickles! That was the missing link hahah, Really enjoyed the house made hot sauce. Price wasn't terrible honestly, although I got the bulletproof matcha which is made with ghee ( butter) and it got up to $8 for a 12oz! Tasted interesting hahaha I just had to I'll probably be back but wouldn't go out of the way nor wait in a long line to do so.

Yelp
A great cafe with nice tables to sit at and enjoy. The kale salad is delicious - very fresh and filling. The skirt steak sandwich and fries were good as well. Love having this restaurant in our backyard!
google avatar

Emily N.

Yelp
All of their food options are so fresh and healthy and vibrant! I got the salmon and it was cooked perfectly with a crisp outside and soft inside with a lot of fresh greens on the side. I also tried the matcha latte with lavender and oat milk and the lavender is fresh tea instead of syrup so it was delightfully aromatic and earthy. You stand in land to order and pick your own seating which they have a lot in the front and inside to choose from.

Yelp
Passing by both of Blueys outlets multiple times, both Santa Monica and Mar Vista one, but I literally just did my initial visit this weekend. The long line in front of the venue I saw every weekend always hindered me to stop by, but this time I gave it a chance (finally)! Fortunately it moved pretty quickly and I figured it's actually the line for ordering. Once placing my order, it's pretty easy to find seats on its outdoor patio. I called myself pretty lucky it was sunny but the temperature was friendly enough so I could enjoy getting the sunlight without being sweaty. The cafe and the menu somehow gave me that Aussie brunch kinda vibes, not sure if I was biased looking at one of the menu named as Bondi. I firstly was curious to try their Acai Bowl, knowing it's so popular, but sadly they ran out of it (making me even more eager to try it!). I ended up opting for their Sweet Halloumi Tartine, which was indeed my second choice. It wasn't only gorgeous, but delightful in flavor! I really loved how they brought avo toast to the next level by pairing it to grilled halloumi and enriched the play in taste with extra sweet flavor from honey and sour flavor from lemon. Additionally, the pistachio dukkah on top added extra texture to the overall dish. SURELY MUST TRY! Another one we had on the table was Whirley Bowl, which was a lavish mix of ingredients as you could clearly tell from the picture. It's nice that it's filling yet less sinful with less carbs, featuring chimichurri dressed cauliflower rice, fish, slaw, avocado, arugula, yogurt tartar, and hand chopped pineapple salsa. Overall taste was refreshing and that fish definitely elevated the overall taste being crispy and so flavorful. Definitely looking forward to my next visit :)

Yelp
I can't believe I've never come here before, given its a walkable distance from my neighborhood! It's a little tucked away but was definitely a popular spot for a Sunday brunch-- my friend and I came around 11:15am, and waited around 20 minutes to order and seat ourselves. The decor is very cute, like a surf shack cafe, and had lots of outdoor and indoor seating options (and super dog friendly!). Parking may be a little tricky tho, there should be spots on the neighboring streets. We split the sweet squash pancakes and pedro's burrito, which was a great move-- sweet and savory is always the way to go. I was a bit skeptical about the food coming here since it seemed like another aesthetic, overpriced restaurant with subpar food, but I was pleasantly surprised! I liked that the pancakes weren't too sweet, the flavor was not distinctly squash but earthy and went well with the fruit and granola! The burrito was also great, I loved the hummus and pickled onions because it gave it so much brightness. This was a great casual place to catch up with a friend and eat nice food. The smoothies seemed good but were very expensive, probably much cheaper to make at home (the recipe is right on the menu LOL), and that's really my only criticism! I would like to come back and try their bowls~

Yelp
Great popular place to have breakfast and brunch. You go in and order food then grab a table. This place seems to be busy all the time, we got lucky and beat the crowd. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Service is efficient because you order your food first and grab a drink from the refrigerators with a wide variety of drinks. I love their variety of sparkling water. Breakfast burritos was super tasty. The seating area is nice and spacious, has plenty of tables but get there early to beat the crowd

Yelp
Super chill California vibed outdoor setting. The food is order at counter and everyone there is very kind, but it definitely gets hot. Food is amazing .

Yelp
I stopped by Bluey's on a Friday around lunch time and was surprised to see how busy it was! We ordered at the counter inside, then grabbed a table outside with our pup. There is patio seating right in front of the restaurant and in the adjacent alleys. We ordered the Whirley Bowl (5/5), Halloumi Tartine (5/5), and Steak Sandwich (4/5). The Whirley Bowl was definitely my favorite. The pineapple salsa was sooo delicious and provided the right amount of sweetness to the rest of the ingredients. All of the food tasted incredibly fresh and healthy. I didn't have a chance to try any of their drinks, but I'm looking forward to trying their matcha latte next time.

Yelp
Overall: food is on point and the vibes are great Food: 5/5 Bluey's breakfast with a side of steak was well balanced and flavorful. Highly recommend. My friends really enjoyed the breakfast burrito though the sauce was spicy. Service: 5/5 Food was fast to come out. Cashier was friendly as well. Ambiance: 5/5 A soft thrum of music. Tables are well spaced to give noise protection. Casual and approachable decor.

Yelp
Finally tried one of LA's staple restaurants and it lived up to the hype. The vibe of this place is really cool, outdoor seating. Ordered a breakfast burrito and the squash pancakes. Both were insane, super flavorful and the pancake was even better tasting than what it looked like which was already incredible.
google avatar

Jay S.

Yelp
The food here is really good! The ambiance is okay, and the service can be a little slow even when they're not busy. I would skip the shakes, but the actual food here is really great! I would recommend the Sweet Squash Pancakes and Breakfast Burrito as a great sweet and savory combo, both were really good! Food: 4.5/5 Drinks: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Value: 4/5 Overall: 4/5
google avatar

Kris T.

Yelp
I got "the bowl formerly known as". It was acidic in flavor, which I loved. It's a great option for those looking for a healthier meal. However, I didn't like the falafels. They were a bit too dry and hard for me to eat. I also ordered a lavender latte, which I was warned is a tea and not a coffee latte. It was delicious, but the ice melted and watered it down quickly, so be sure to drink it quickly if you choose to order it. Bluey's is a great option for an outdoor breakfast.
google avatar

Celine K.

Yelp
took about thirty minutes to prepare the food as it was very busy for weekend brunch; however, i was pleasantly surprised with how delicious everything was. i wasn't a big fan of the side sauce for the breakfast burrito but the ingredients paired well
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
Super beachy and cute space with lots of nice outdoor seating! Food is pretty good, tried the breakfast sandwich and the breakfast burrito with chorizo. The sandwich has a nice kick from the sauce, and the burrito was tasty as well with the hot sauce. I also got the Mexi-latte as well- super small and very sweet! My friend warned me this place would be busy and sure enough the line was pretty long on a Saturday at around 10:15 am, so definitely come early!
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
FOOD/DRINK: Had the 'The Bowl Formerly Known As,' which is greens, cauliflower rice, two falafel, hummus, an egg, and cabbage. This felt very healthy and was the perfect portion size, and there was enough flavor for something so light. I appreciated the creativity in this dish. There were a LOT of vegetarian options, and they sounded tasty, so I'd return to give them a try. Had a cappuccino for coffee, which was okay (seemed more like a latte by volume). AMBIENCE: I'd dock a star here - it's great for working during the week, catching up with a friend over coffee, or a meal with a slightly larger group (like 6-8 people). There's outdoor seating, as well as "indoors" - though the latter technically opens up to the elements, so it does get a little chilly on windier days (recommend bringing a sweater if it's not summer). Indoor/outdoor means you can see some critters (e.g., little mice) "inside," but it's LA, so that's expected. There is parking in the alley, and if none there, then street parking nearby. The vibe is surfer, chill, hip. The music is on the louder side.
google avatar

Taylor L.

Yelp
One of the best brunch spots I've been to! I highly recommend theirs bowls and the sweet squash pancakes. The food was so fresh, flavorful, and clean!! There's a ton of outdoor seating as well Parking: the restaurant is located in a narrow alley so parking is limited. There's tons of spots if you park on the next street up.

Yelp
Blueys in Santa Monica is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, the cozy and inviting atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The standout dish for me has to be the butternut squash pancakes. They are nothing short of divine--light, fluffy, and they practically melt in your mouth. The perfect blend of sweet and savory, these pancakes are a must-try and truly set Blueys apart. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring a delightful dining experience every time. If you're in Santa Monica, Blueys is a breakfast spot you cannot miss!
google avatar

Patrick L.

Yelp
Place was alright. The famous squash pancakes were pretty good. Service was meh. Walked in at 8am when they opened on a Saturday. Lady working there said they weren't open yet (in an annoyed tone) and they don't open til 8, but it was 8! A bit of an awkward first impression. Sooo many good breakfast places in LA. I wouldn't go out of my way to go to this one.
google avatar

Emanuel U.

Yelp
I came here on a Friday morning around 10am and was expecting a restaurant style breakfast place but it functions more like a coffee shop. The only menus they have display drinks so if you want to try their food you need to look at what others have posted on Yelp and ask if they have it. There's ample outdoor seating and some indoor seating that no one seemed to prefer. I was the third person in line when I got there, ordered the sweet squash pancakes and an horchata latte and they came out within 10 minutes. Pancakes were amazing and the taste of squash was noticeable but not overpowering. I do wish they gave a bit more syrup but you can tell the syrup they use is really high quality because it didn't taste fake and the consistency wasn't thick like those other lower quality syrups. Parking was a bit confusing there's plenty of parking within the street/alley that the restaurant is located in but most of the spaces are reserved for another adjacent business. I did manage to find one unmarked space so it wasn't a big deal. The horchata latte was really good as well. I recommend getting the small which has two shots. The large size also has two shots the only difference is that they add more milk is what the cashier said so you're getting two shots either way. I would come here again if I am in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
This is such a beachy, vibey brunch spot. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Seating can be limited on busy days, so I'd recommend saving your seat before you order. The food is amazing and the outdoor seating is so cozy and comfortable. I love this place!
google avatar

Yelp
This place has come to be one of my favorite brunch spots in Santa Monica. A place for a quick delicious and healthy meal or a more leisurely meal with friends. Always fantastic!!

Yelp
I love this neighborhood spot. It has a nice outdoor area and very accessible takeout. Everyone is friendly and can answer any questions. I started with a very healthy kale Caesar salad with homemade bread crumbs. It has become a favorite, especially when at work. I look forward to many of the other favorites.
google avatar

Crystal K.

Yelp
Cute casual spot good for breakfast or lunch especially with both indoor and outdoor seating options. There's plenty of coffee options as well and you can pay additional charge to sub almond or oat milk. It does get packed on weekends especially during brunch hours so be mindful of that. You order first then can find a spot to sit and they'll bring out your food. My favorite is the Blueys Breakfast plate which comes with two eggs, bacon, tomatoes, avocado, kale and mushroom mix, and bread. Tasty breakfast option. I've also tried the sweet squash pancakes for when you're craving something sweet. It comes with berries and oats which contrast nicely against the sweet pancakes. There's meter parking outside the main parking area. Main parking area does have some options but it does get packed on the weekends and you have to be mindful of the business parking so read the signs correctly. There's a single bathroom so the wait can get long if on a busy day.
google avatar

Yelp
Are you kidding me! Their Skirt steak sandwich is a mouth watering masterpiece. Order that and the Horchata latte with oat milk. I promise you'll be coming back for more.

Olivia A.

Yelp
Food was super fresh and lots of healthy options. Really loved the chimichurri with the Whirley bowl. The latte and matcha latte were very delicious as well. Order at the front and they deliver your to your table if you are eating in the restaurant. Loved the beachy vibes of Blueys. Lots of outdoor seating and some indoor. Very limited parking in the lot right in front of Blueys. But parking is not too bad on the nearby streets.
google avatar

Cathy S.

Yelp
Cool spot in an unusual location. Food is overpriced. Our cup of fresh squeezed o.j. was $6. It wasn't even very good. There's plenty of parking, however, the seating is a mesh mash. I'm sure the servers hate walking all around the building trying to find the correct table to deliver the orders. Breakfast burrito - 4/5 Pretty tasty but it was such a SMALL portion. Sweet Squash Pancakes - 3/5 Beautiful presentation but the berry toppings tasted as if they were soaked in menthol. What is up with that? Pancakes were interesting and I enjoyed the oats topping to give the dish more texture. Service - 3/5 It's weird. They have you line up against the outer wall and as you make your way indoors to put in your order, a worker yells at everyone to shove over closer to the inner wall or up the steps. Maybe a better idea would be to have those retractable belt stanchions set up so customers don't feel accosted. Also, aside from the o.j. we only ordered 2 items but they came out at different times. Lastly, there's only one restroom so the wait can get long.

Yelp
The Blueys in Santa Monica is a casual place to meet up with friends or colleagues for coffee, breakfast, or lunch. With primarily covered outdoor seating in the parking lot, there's usually plenty of tables available. Make sure to clearly read the signs in the parking lot and on the streets. The downside is that they don't have WiFi. If you're sensitive to caffeine maybe order something beside a the latte so that you don't get jittery. The 12oz latte is $5, +$1 for oat milk. I love their for here mug and saucers. The food is high quality and great portion sizes, and they bring it to your table. For food, the Blueys Breakfast Plate gives you a little bit of everything for $16. Two eggs your way (I went with scrambled), bacon (you can swap this out for a vegetarian substitute), heirloom tomatoes, sautéed Tabasco kale and mushrooms, and fresh avocado (small) served with country toast. For only $1 extra, they let you swap out gluten free bread for the regular bread.

Yelp
First of all, the ambiance was great. I really liked the casual relaxed vibe with the picnic tables outside, small tables in the alleyway and inside. It is located in the least expected places of all; nestled in a business park in between single story offices and almost warehouse-like buildings. The open space, wooden furniture and surf boards give this place an unpretentious, chill vibe that makes you feel cool without trying. Now the food, I was skeptical about the sweet squash pancakes but OMG, they were fluffy and delicious! The oats sprinkled on top gave each bite the perfect crunch. I felt almost healthy eating the sweet pancakes because it was made with squash and had oats and the dish came with a generous amount of berries. The portion was good. The breakfast burrito was tasty but I wished the portion was bigger. It was small. The reason why I'm not giving this place 5 stars was because of the slow food service. We waited a long time (15 minutes?) between when the first dish was brought out to when the second dish arrived. The iced lavender latte was also weak in coffee flavor. Still, a super cute place that I would come back to just because I loved the vibe so much!
google avatar

Amber K.

Yelp
Between the spacious-pet-friendly patio and quaint indoor seating, this brunch spot offers a sweet vibe for a casual brunch. The staff always seem friendly enough to help regardless of the long lines of people. For food, I was hypnotized by the squash pancakes! Now I am a dessert girly, so when I saw that these pancakes as a fun healthy twist on my go-to breakfast option I knew I needed to try them! And boy oh boy, now I am HOOKED! The pancakes are light yet flavorful, and the maple syrup compliments the dish with a touch of sweetness. Overall, I cannot wait to come back and get more!

Yelp
A very LA brunch spot. Food is ok and prices are also very LA. I got the squash pancakes and wasn't very excited about them. They tasted ok. My friend got the Bluey's breakfast which looked pretty good but also nothing super special. Food took a long time to come out, but the cashier did warn us that it would. I found it a little weird that the workers there are super peculiar about where you stand inside the restaurant. I guess with such a busy storefront they need lots of organization, but still something I really noticed. We found parking lot spots, but pretty crowded. Overall, not bad, not amazing.

Yelp
A great neighborhood brunch spot, if you can stomach the wait. You order at the counter and then find a table to seat yourself, and then the real wait begins. My favorite is the breakfast burrito, and the sweet squash pancakes were unique and surprised on the upside.

Yelp
Perfect spot for brunch and lunch! They literally have everything one can crave for breakfast-- from burritos to açaí bowls to pancakes. I came here for a late brunch with a friend and loved the spot! We got there and ordered our food at the front counter. The staff is very friendly and they explained the menu and their beverage options. I got Pedro's burrito with chicken and it was very filling and delicious. I was craving something sweet so my friend and I shared some sweet squash pancakes... they hit the spot, tasty, with the perfect amount of granola and fruit in top. They have seating available inside and outside. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was busy, but we managed to find a spot to sit down inside. The restaurant is in the middle of an industrial area, so I was a bit confused when I first arrived. Once I made it to the restaurant, I found myself surrounded with beach vibes. I will be coming back for yummy brunch!

Yelp
Nestled into a business park, you'll find Blueys. Although there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, it can get pretty crowded--at least when there's a music festival in LA! I will give the team the benefit of the doubt that they were short-staffed and it was PACKED. My boyfriend and I met up with our friends for brunch. The two of us ordered the mango smoothie, the coconut topping made for a tropical finish to it! I ordered the Little Fatty, which was tasty (but I honestly could've made it at home). My boyfriend ordered the breakfast burrito. He lathered on the hot sauce to add more flavor to it and our friend did the same to theirs. Two of our friends ordered the kale salad with steak and they said it was rejuvenating. One of our friends ordered a side of fries with their breakfast sandwich but it took over an hour (and us asking the employees each time they came to check on us). During the time we were waiting for the fries, I ordered a ham and cheese croissant (not pictured because I was still so hungry lol) as well as the almond bites. Both were wonderful! Overall, it was a decent meal just a little overpriced but that's LA and showbiz baby.

Yelp
Great food, very nice people working there. Love the Bon Bon burrito (falafel) as well as the squash pancakes. Best fried egg sandwich I've ever had. Highly recommend

Yelp
Came at 10ish and it was busy but they have a good line system where you can only claim a table once you have ordered so no one gets stuck with food but no space to eat. Loved the breakfast plate, kale and mushroom a bit too oily for my taste but otherwise pretty good and has all you want. The squash pancakes... honestly the star of the show. Freaking out of this world. Make sure someone at your table orders them or just get them to share. So so good. Overall super cute quick brunch place and nice ambiance

Yelp
Closer to 3.5 stars due to service and taste. Cute little cafe in the industrial part of Santa Monica. We traveled from Burbank to meet friends for brunch here, and I forgot how wonderful weather wise it is so close to the ocean! The weather was perfect and there plenty of outdoor seats, although most were occupied by 10:45am on a Saturday. We did find seating inside and then waited in the long line to order. My husband got the breakfast burrito & chai latte and I got the egg sandwich, lavender latte, and a side of espresso. They were very busy and for some reason instead of bringing our order to the table, they yelled our names and hoped we could hear around the corner. Our food did successfully come to the table but not all at once, definitely piece by piece. The breakfast burrito was filling and tasted good but really nothing super special - I would pass next time. The egg sandwich was delicious with a perfectly runny egg - definitely recommend. The espresso was bitter and not very smooth. The lavender tea latte was delicious. My friends ordered bowl and pancakes which both looked yummy; also, the pancakes took forever to come out! We also ordered a cookie and ham & cheese croissant to go. Both were okay. I felt the price overall was high considering the quality and service you get.

Yelp
It's alright. Also how do you not have wifi for guests...? You're a cafe & I see 6 people with laptops out. Total miss judgement/ decision by management. my friend said Eggs were "the blandest Ive ever had." Their steak sandwich had 6 meesly pieces of ehh steak. Save your $ just go elsewhere. Parking situation in their lot is also the pettiness display by humans I have seen in a while. (was a good laugh honestly) 5/10 food 6.5/10 smoothie Add wifi!!!

Yelp
TL:DR - Go early, it gets really busy. Breakfast burrito and horchata latte are a bop! Hidden away in an industrial area of West LA is Bluey's Kitchen and Market. You'll know you're in the right spot when you see a bunch of cars turning into a gravel parking lot and a line of young hip people lining up next to a building. Inside, there are a few tables to sit at, but the real atmosphere is outside. There are tables on all sides of the building are adequately shaded. You should always expect a line. Sometimes it moves pretty quickly, but more often than not, it's about a 10min wait. This should give you more than enough time to figure out what you want. My girlfriend and I stopped by for a chill morning and got a light breakfast. Her with the quinoa porridge, me with the breakfast burrito. We split a horchata latte and pastry. The quinoa porridge was actually tastier than the name makes it out to be. Filled with fresh fruit, quinoa, and something sweet that I can't place, it felt like eating a cloud. It was good, but I wanted something heartier. The breakfast burrito, packed with hash brown, chorizo, avocado, and egg really hits the spot. The size of it isn't particularly big, maybe a little smaller than a typical chipotle burrito, but the flavors were great! A little salty, a little greasy, a little spicy, a perfect way to get my engine revving. To wash it all down was the horchata latte. Sweet like horchata and balanced with the flavor of espresso, there's nothing to hate about it. Overall, Bluey's is definitely a cool hip place to grab a bite and talk story with some friends. The line might be long and the prices a bit higher than you would expect, but the atmosphere will make you feel like you're living the true LA lifestyle.

Yelp
I decided to stop by Blueys after work and I loved their sandwiches. The location is a little random, it's located in an alley/parking lot so it can be a little hard to find. I tried their steak and breakfast sandwiches, and both were so flavorful and filling. The sourdough bread paired well with the steak and arugula, and the potato roll (I am biased towards potato rolls though) was perfect for the bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. I'll definitely come back again to try their squash pancakes, they look beautiful!

Yelp
I was really disappointed in this place. I had high hopes as it had good reviews but the service was not the best and the food was below average. Parking was not easy to find as everything is reserved for the other buildings nearby. I parked around the corner and walked a little. I waited in line for about 25 minutes before I was helped. I got the little fatty sandwich. I asked for no bacon and add avocado and jalapeños. They said they couldn't add jalapeños because they were busy. They were able to add the avocado for an extra $3 though. My friend also got the little fatty sandwich as is and my other friend got the soy chorizo breakfast sandwich with a side of fries. Even though my friend ordered first and got the same thing I did, she had to wait longer for her fatty sandwich. Our sandwiches were literally just cheese and egg. Mine had three small pieces of avocado and hers one strip of bacon. We were expecting something potato as it was suggested on the menu but did not get that. My other friends burrito did not have jalapenos even though it was supposed to come with it. I guess they were super busy that they decided to remove some ingredients from their items... My friends finished eating and I still had half my sandwich on the plate. One of the employees came and started picking up the plates. He looked at mine and asked me if I wanted a to go box. I said I was okay. He then proceeded to ask if he could take my plate. I said please give me some time to finish. It seemed like they were trying to rush us and we had only just gotten our food about 10 minutes ago. At this point we still hadn't gotten water. I walked inside and found out that it was self serve. It would've been nice if the employees would've told us that instead of saying they would bring it out. There's better places to eat at in the area. I would not come again.

Yelp
The orchata latte is amazing!!!!! We had the Whirley bowl and the falafel burrito (Pedro's burrito) Both were delicious! I loved the pickled cabbage and their house hot sauce. This is one of the order at the counter and grab a seat type of cafe. Servers are all really nice too.

Yelp
Blueys is one of my favorite brunch spots on the West Side! Plenty of delicious options on the menu, and very comfortable/cute outdoor seating. (This place used to be called Bondi Harvest, and served different stuff) Definitely come here before 11am, or the line gets crazy long! We got there at 10:40am ish, and there were about 4-6 people in front of us. Food takes a while to come out though! I ordered the Squash Pancakes, which seems to be their most popular item. It was definitely special! The pancake was covered in granola, fruits, and an avocado spread - definitely never had that before. The texture was more chewy like mochi, than fluffy like a normal pancake, which is a plus for me! Portions don't look that large, but I was definitely more than satiated when I finished it. My friend ordered the Falafel breakfast burrito, and it was much smaller than we thought it would be lol! Matcha Latte & Horchata Latte were SO good. The Matcha was micro-foamed to perfection, and you can tell that they use high quality matcha for their drinks, unlike many other cafes. The Horchata was sweet but not overwhelmingly so, and it was very refreshing. There are some larger picnic-like tables available, so you may have to share the table with other cafe-goers at some point. We didn't mind this at all though. I feel like people have a really hard time or a really easy time finding parking - there is no in between. I'm not sure why that is, but for reference, I came with my friend at 10:40am on a Saturday and there was plenty of available street parking. I'm definitely going to be bringing people here all the time now - so easy to get to, such great vibes, and everyone is bound to find something they like on the menu!

Yelp
So excited to have discovered this spot! Was originally aiming for the location in Mar Vista but good 'ol Googlemaps informed me of the existence of this second location which was actually closer to me then the original. Would have never known as this location is a bit hidden? Plenty of free parking. Line was pretty long upon arrival so could be a bit of a wait. You order first, then find seating. As recommended by other Yelpers, the iced horchata latte is amazing. Ordered the Formerly Known as Prince plate and it was super tasty. I added grilled halloumi- love that they have that option. No alcohol served here but they offer an epic array of non-alcoholic beverages as well as an outstanding coffee counter.

Yelp
Great pace for a Sunday brunch. I had the blueberry pancakes which were a good portion and tasty. Also well done bacon. I think it was served with real maple syrup.

Yelp
You order at the counter and then take a number and grab a seat. They have plenty of seating, indoor and outside, both shaded, or in the sun. I like the location, even though it's in an industrial park. It just means there is plenty of parking available. Today our service was very slow and they forgot to bring our drinks, until after the food arrived, which was quite a wait already. I would say the food was good, but not great. We chose the Avocado Toast, The Basic Brekkie, and the Breakfast Burrito with chorizo. To start we had the Horchata Latte, which was actually very good. I was not a fan of the breakfast burrito sadly, the onions were not grilled and it was overall a bit mushy. The avocado toast was enjoyable and had a good amount of avocado, but the egg was my favorite part of that dish, we enjoyed sharing it. The Brekkie was probably the best dish that we ordered because although simple it was done well. Overall, it was a good breakfast, but there are many other favorites of mine in the area that I would prefer. I would recommend, but don't plan to be back in the future.

Yelp
the food was just alright and nothing spectacular. plus the service was bad which makes the review a 3/5. the server brought out the wrong order and when i questioned if it was the right item she said it was and was really rude about it. giving major RBF loll. the vibes are cute inside and outside but i don't think it's worth going again considering price, service and food

Yelp
10/10 Stopped by for brunch on Mother's Day, after we did a Mother's Day 5K down the beach and the food really hit the spot! It's a walk in cafe. There is a small parking lot and you order from the counter to be delivered to your table. They were really great and had a rose for my mom who loved the food too! We ordered the breakfast burrito, bowl formerly known as, and sweet squash pancakes. The squash pancakes were definitely my fav!!! I have to come back just to get them again. The fruit was so fresh and the granola on the pancakes made it so delicious. The breakfast burrito with chorizo was really great and I got full after just half. I love breakfast burritos and this is a new favorite! My mom ordered the bowl formerly known as which had veggies/falafel and hummus topped with an egg . It was a nice and light Mediterranean twist on a breakfast bowl. The matcha lattes were unsweetened which I definitely like a lot. Ordered a hot and iced one with oat milk. A lot of places make matchas with the sweetened powder which I'm not the biggest fan of. I like a more concentrated and pure matcha latte taste and add a little stevia to mines at home and they had sweeteners and sugars here to add which was very nice.
