Where to Find a Marvelous Mid-Week Lunch in Portland

"This Greek spot from the man behind Lardo serves skewers of juicy lamb souvlaki alongside silky hummus and bright tzatziki, with sheets of fresh-baked pita for swiping and stuffing. Around lunchtime, the restaurant’s salads are a smart choice, hearty and filled with things like whipped sheep’s cheese or beets and tahini. Add some souvlaki for protein, and a swirl of soft serve to get through the rest of the day." - Rebecca Roland, Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Should Portland Chefs Ditch the Wood-Fired Oven? - Eater Portland

"Artfully stacked wood is part of the decor at Bluto's, a Belmont neighborhood Greek restaurant. It’s also the fuel that cooks dishes like skewered lamb, charred broccoli, and charred scallion pork chops." - Anne Marie Distefano

Where to Eat and Drink on Portland’s Restaurant-Packed Belmont Street

"This Greek-ish, fast casual spot breathes fresh air and light into its corner of Belmont. Aromas of savory smoke and seared meats fill the air inside and outside as patrons walk by the space, thanks to the wood-fired grill at the front. Team members grill souvlakis of spiced lamb and oregano chicken, accompanied by seasonal vegetables garnished with ingredients like preserved lemon, green tahini, and sunflower seeds. Diners have an array of options to choose from beyond the skewers, however, and will find it hard to choose between a loaded hummus bowl — topped with golden raisins and spiced beef — or savory sides like spanakopita hand pies and stewy braised beans. But they will likely vote yes on Bluto’s soft serve, which comes covered in a white chocolate tahini shell, or topped with honey and halva sesame paste candies." - Katrina Yentch

The Best Ice Cream Shops in Portland, Oregon - Eater Portland

"After building a meal out of Bluto’s various Greek-ish wood-fired dishes — something from each section of the menu is the way to go, with souvlaki, vegetables like charred asparagus, and piping-hot flatbread — diners finish with cups of soft serve. It’s offered in two classic flavors, vanilla and chocolate (or a swirl of the two), but the optional add-on topping pairings like chocolate-tahini magic shell and pistachios, honey and halva, and rhubarb jam and sesame brittle, are anything but basic." - Michelle Lopez, Janey Wong
