BOA Steakhouse - Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Clubby steakhouse BOA is on the corner of Ocean and Santa Monica in one of the busiest parts of the Westside. They’ve got sidewalk seating for you to eat all the lobster tails and ribeyes you can afford. So, like, one of each, maybe. Reservations recommended. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

12 Places to Find Beyond Meat and Impossible Burgers in LA | Eater LA

"BOA Steakhouse clearly wants vegetarians to feel welcome. In 2017, the company expanded its menu to include both vegan and vegetarian options. The latest addition is the wild mushroom burger with a Beyond Meat patty, truffles, and arugula on a potato bun." - Mona Holmes

A Celebratory Feast at BOA Steakhouse Santa Monica: Consistently Excellent Having previously enjoyed BOA Steakhouse in Austin, our decision to celebrate a birthday at the Santa Monica location was met with high expectations – and BOA delivered! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the polite, sociable, and thoroughly enjoyable service. It's clear that BOA prioritizes a welcoming and attentive dining experience. Our evening began with cocktails, and as martini aficionados who prefer them "dirty," we're often met with hesitation from bartenders. Not so at BOA Santa Monica! Our Bombay Sapphire martinis were perfectly crafted, beautifully presented, and made exactly to our specifications. This attention to detail set the tone for the rest of the meal. For appetizers, we indulged in oysters on the half shell and enormous prawn cocktails. The oysters, while their specific coast slipped my mind, were notably not briny and exceptionally good. The prawns were a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients and generous portions. The main courses continued to impress. I savored a dry-aged bone-in ribeye cooked to perfection, accompanied by a loaded baked potato. My wife's Skuna Bay salmon was a highlight, perfectly cooked – a rare feat as many restaurants tend to overcook salmon. Our daughter's petit filet was equally tender and juicy. To complement our individual selections, we shared roasted Alaskan king crab, smashed broccoli, and original mashed potatoes, all of which were delectable and well-presented. Overall, our birthday celebration at BOA Steakhouse Santa Monica was a resounding success. The consistency in food quality across all dishes was remarkable, and the service was truly perfect. We're already looking forward to making reservations at the upcoming BOA in Las Vegas!

Expensive but the food was cooked well. Nice atmosphere near the beach! Rabbi Daughter Kosher Ribeye steak (medium rare) was Bang'n as well as the lobster mashed potatoes. The asparagus was tasty as well. It could have been seasoned a bit more. The oysters were solid but definitely overpriced!

My first night in Santa Monica, and BOA made it unforgettable! From the moment I walked in, the staff at the entrance set a welcoming tone with their warm smiles and professionalism. They were organized and attentive, making the check-in process smooth and enjoyable. Once seated, the service only got better our server was not only knowledgeable about the menu but genuinely enthusiastic, making excellent recommendations that were spot on. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and the attention to detail was impressive. BOA was up to my expectations, from the staff at the door to the impeccable service at the table. I’ll definitely be back!

We went once in 2017 for our 2 year anniversary, and returned here on March 1st for our 10 year anniversary. I'm so proud of how far we've come from where we were and who we were back then. Thank you, BOA, for making our even magical, as always. Some photos from February 2017 and some from 3/1/2025, too.

Yelp
Yum! We came to Boa for a work dinner and I'm so so very happy we did. Our server was a lot of fun and very informative about the foods, especially because we had a food allergy in the party. I got the petite filet with the roasted onion butter and we ordered the chipotle lime corn, sauteed mushrooms, and broccoli sides for the table. My steak was so good! I order mine medium well because I don't like it bloody, but it's still tender. It was delicious! I'd never had onion butter before and it did not disappoint. If you like onions, go for it. The sides were also great! Service was top notch here and we had a lovely time! If you can swing it, you need to try this place at least once. The dress code isn't super strict and we didn't have a reservation when we walked in (Monday when the opened).

Yelp
Ordered a drink (Saint Tropica) waiter didn't want to serve me it because "he never serves that drink at his tables". What's the point of having an item on the menu if the waiter chooses not to serve it? Made me feel uncomfortable, no valid reason why other than he just doesn't like to serve that drink. Besides that, food was good though a bit overpriced. I cannot fathom why anyone would spend $42 on a baked potato even for an upscale restaurant.

Yelp
Food was great. So over priced. There are so many other stake house cheaper.. I am not cheap but this is crazy. 4 people I paid $786.

Yelp
I'd been in Santa Monica for a show which got out at 9 p.m. and I was dying for some steak. I was familiar with the BOA Steakhouse location in West Hollywood, which I've both gone to in person and also ordered delivery from, so I thought the Santa Monica location would be a sure thing. Location 5 Stars. It's right across from the ocean and it's very centrally located to lots of shopping, bars, etc. Service 5 Stars. I was greeted and seated at the bar right away, and the bartender took good care of me. Food 3 stars. It should've been a lot better. I ordered the petite filet without any extra butters or sauces ("just cow," I said), but that was a mistake -- because the outside of the steak was SO dry and crispy, not the normal good char of a steak, that it needed something to make it wet. The inside of the cut was much better but it was really cooked medium (light pink throughout) and not medium rare as I requested. It also doesn't come with any sides, just a sad little round hunk of beef in the middle of a white plate. So, I ordered a side -- all of which are meant for sharing, but I knew I could bring it home and reheat it as leftovers. I chose the mashed broccoli instead of the mashed potatoes because it was listed as gluten-free (not sure what would've been contaminated in potatoes, which don't contain gluten, but better safe than sorry). Honestly, this dish was kind of gross -- just a chunky, green glob that was only partially smashed and had a very pungent broccoli flavor with not much other seasoning. (I added a lot of salt and pepper but it didn't seem to help.) It got worse when I tried to eat it as leftovers the next day, so I ended up throwing the remaining portion out. The exception was the dessert that the bartender recommended as a gluten-free option: the s'mores, which was excellent. I loved the toasted marshmallow and the flourless chocolate cake. Great presentation and really yummy. Drinks 4 stars. I love that they have blue cheese olives but my dirty martini wasn't really dirty at all. I might go back for a drink or dessert, but I won't splurge on dinner here again.

Yelp
It's been close to 10 years since I've been to Boa... what have I been doing with my life? Plan: Appetizer - Crab cake Salad - Table side Cesar Main Dish - Bone in Filet (Medium Rare) Sides - Lobster Mac and loaded (Bacon, Cheese, Chives) Mashed Potatoes Not planned, but ordered: Appetizer - Half Dozen Oysters Sides - Loaded (Pan Fried Wagyu Bits) So, this was a pretty epic night! Reservations were originally for 6pm but moved up to 530pm. We were one of the first to be greeted and seated, Brian (Manger) checked us in and even guessed my name right, this was a sign of things to come. He asked if we were celebrating anything and I let him know a birthday, we were seated. We had a great view of the street, park, ocean and sunset... as we were sat next to the window. Chris our server took our order, I usually know what I want and ordered everything at once. As I ordered, Chris listened and let us know about other items or ways to improve our dinning experience. Oysters were not on the menu, but I couldn't say no. When ordering the Loaded Mashed he let us know there was a Pan fried Wagyu option, never had before, and we went with that. Now let's get to the point... Brian, Chris and the entire staff was truly amazing. Felt like royalty, the way they doted on us, anticipating our every want and need. I didn't catch the gentleman's name that made the Cesar at the table, but he was warm friendly and educated us on the salads history. I was yesterday years old when I learned that the Cesar salad was created in Tijuana Mexico. (Great way to win a bet) The Service was 5 Stars + Near the end of the night Brian check in on us and I told him " Not many steakhouses hit on every course and service, but you guys killed it!" The food Crab cake - was amazing, light, little crispy, lots of crab and the flavor kept you wanting more. Oysters - Great, fresh and the cocktail sauce w/ and extra dollop of horse radish, some Worcestershire sauce slightly acidic, and a cute teeny tiny bottle of hot sauce. These were inhaled in no time. Steaks - something about have bone-in beef... the steak was thick well seasoned and perfectly cooked. No fancy sauced or spice blends, I just tasted BEEF... juicy, flavorful Beef Mashed Potatoes - Creamy, but the star of the show was the Wagyu bits... put the flavor over the top... with what: More BEEF. Each bite was an adventure of textures. Creamy cheesy potatoes, mixed with crunchy bits of meat and soft pops of fat... I didn't know I had a fever, and the only prescription was more BEEF. Exceptional way to have mashed potatoes, highly recommended! Lobster Mac - Creamy flavorful cheese sauce, perfect Al dente Cavatappi pasta (my fav for Mac) and lots of Lobster. Big chunks, little chunks and some in between. I was not disappointed. If you have never been to Boa and love steakhouses... this is a must try! For me it's easily in my top 3. I am confident if you give the Santa Monica location a try it could be in your top 5. For reference my top 3 include, in no particular order: Boa - Duh Alexander's Mastros Recent steakhouse visits in the running: Ruth's Chris, Flemmings, Queensview, Morton's, 555, Capital Grill... Sorry, didn't proof read... it's 0600ish Oh how can I forget, they surprised us with two freshly baked warm cookies, chocolate chip and white chocolate macadamia, chocolate Happy Birthday edible sign, vanilla bean cream and a sparkling candle! We felt the love. We were stuffed, but somehow made room lol. Can't thank the team at Boa - Santa Monica enough. Truly felt loved and cared for. Great way to start the night, the next stop was Kooza (Cirque de Soleil) first time seeing Kooza and ~7th Cirque show. It was an amazing way to cap off the night. Watch while you can, it travels and won't be at the SM Pier for long!

Yelp
This place is such a vibe. It's upscale California beach casual. I don't even know if that makes any sense but that it reminds me of. Our server was very attentive and described everything on the menu wonderfully. I ended up with a bone in rib eye and it was a perfect medium rare. I don't remember which wine he selected but it was delicious. I'm glad I took a picture of it. It's a great date spot if you want something that perfectly captures that Santa Monica beach vibe.

Yelp
This haven for the affluent is but a block away from whatever effluence is in the Bay that day. Enjoy the view. You'll be greeted by two affable gents at the Host Podium and then ushered to your mini table. Yes, the tables are for Lilliputians. I would be beg for a booth lest you be so close to your date, you can pick the creamed Spinach from his/her/their teeth. The decor is Steakhouse slick. Sharp angles of Charcoal, Slate Gray, and Black with violent Red accents. Nothing cold or distant wherever Host puts you as there ain't a bad seat in the House. There is a wrap around patio so you can dine closer to the throng of thong clad tourists. Think of this place as a seaside Walmart. It's quite entertaining. Once inside you are treated like Mister A-lister. The vibe is all class act. So, lean back in your booth and revel in the opulence. A micro Pina Colada with a Cymbidium bloom clinging to the rim of it's tiny little glass arrives signifying that you have arrived. A liquid Amouse Bouche. Delish that was. Menus all around and thankfully no server reading the whole thing like a liturgy from a High Mass. No tray of glistening raw meat sweating at the table's edge while a server recites a detailed explanation to which no one is listening. No monologue by the server extolling the virtues of what he/she/they likes to eat. The Staff: Efficient and an eye on everything. Cool Hand Chris resembled a cross between Steve Martin and Kevin Costner. He was smart, professional and opened with 10 minutes a "A" Material schtick. He could've warmed up a funeral to peels of laughter in seconds. He was a joyful addition to a fine dinner. The Bar: Complete and full despite being completely full. You want it, they'll have it, or create it. "Chris, what do I want?" "Bee Blossom", he buzzed. It showed up in a kitschy Bee Hive Glass. Monkey 47 Gin, Orange Blossom Honey, Egg White, and a Honey Ice Pop. That bee-st had a stinger and delightfully so. My cocktail was tangy and tart with some serious pucker power. Two sips and I looked like I got my lips caught in the elevator doors. Who's here? The Swells dining with the swollen outside looking in like Pound Puppies. There were chubby tourists with fat wallets, neighbors, regulars, and those who know a great steak when they see one and are willing to travel a bit to have one. The Food: This kitchen cooks with confidence. The table side Caesar will prove it. The Salad was spot on and hit the spot. Chilled fresh Romaine with a creamy yet traditional Dressing. It was a measured balance of greenery to Dressing. Yes, there is a Raw Egg mixed in as there should be along with a pile of Anchovies lounging in a cold Silver cup. Don't over look the house made Croutons distributed onto the Salad at the last moment to retain their crunch to the end. Then what do you do with the puddle of dressing when you're done? Should you swipe right or left? I say grab a just baked Parker House Roll and simply circle the plate sopping and mopping without stopping. This Caesar was a pleaser. How bout some Hamachi Crudo with Preserved Meyer Lemon, and a shave or two of Black Truffle with a Brunoise of Celery all doubling as a palate cleanser? Clean, light and tasty. Time for the main attraction. Brooklyn Style Porterhouse (ala Peter Luger). It came with two beefy dudes carrying the grill plate like pallbearers in Asbestos suits and gloves. The Steak cooks at 1,000 degrees and arrives on a plate heated to 500 degrees before being anointed with 1/2 a cup of melted Butter. Napkins to necks please as the Butter on the platter spatters and sputters when it hits the plate which is hotter than a Jet Engine tossing off sufficient heat to trip the Sprinkler System. Wanna impress the Waiter? Go ahead, drop your tongue on the platter to show them what you're made of. Grease in every direction so, Ladies, cover up that new Alice and Olivia Blouse and while the blouse can't be salvaged the Steak is so good, it's worth it. The Tenderloin and the Strip Steak were grilled just right and dissected table side. Accoutrements included Creamy/Raw Horseradish, Bearnnaise Sauce, Chimichurri Sauce, Peppercorn make it seem like I was dating half the Sorority. You won't want to take a break from this steak as it was hard to leave the meat alone to the bone. Sidekicks were thick crispy creamy French Fries, a deep bowl of Creamed Spinach topped with half a can of French Fried Onions. (Next morning it is perfect for breakfast with a Jammy Egg in the crater you made in the Spinach mound. The New Chef, Brandon Collins, a skilled had with a skillet added his signature dessert to the menu. Sticky Toffee Pudding. The Pud flirted with being a touch too dry. A tweak is required to make as perfect as he can make it and when he makes it, it is damn perfect. As soon as I drop the weight I just ate BOA Steak gets a re-take.

Yelp
Decided to go back to this place after years. Used to be a childhood favorite and now being older I was curious to see if I still like it or not. Our server had the most amazing voice I have ever heard which fit the fine dining steakhouse feel. He was extremely patient and the other servers were also well informed. The one thing that shocked me was that the menu was huge having 4 pages of food. Big menu = bad food. Chopped Salad- was okay, one of the better salads I have had at a steakhouse. NY Strip- The steaks have so much flavor, but not tender. I guess thats why they give you 2 additional sauces to cover up the chewy meat. My dads NY strip had a fat cap that was hard like a bone. Parker Rolls- were delicious, soft, and just enough rosemary to add some extra flavor Roasted Bone Marrow- rich, fatty, and the side of acidic onions and cilantro was perfect. Sides: We go the smashed broccoli and chipotle lime corn, the corn has always been my favorite and was still delicious, the smashed broccoli was okay. Overall, I loved the atmosphere and service. However, the food was okay, probably due to so much on the menu. Also, steaks were not that star and felt like all the accessories were better.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurants when I come back to the LA area. I'm glad to see they brought the tableside salad back. Cesar salad is always a must, and just the ambiance in general. I am looking forward to checking out the new location in Austin. Wish the bread/rolls were free, but understand how things go.

Yelp
Very inconsistent with their tomahawk steaks. First time I came in (dressed nice) I ordered tomahawk and it was fantastic. I came in a second time after work not dressed so nice and tomahawk was not the same, cooked badly and didn't look like the same cut. I'm not sure what's going on with that but if you want a great consistent tomahawk, The Galley on main gets it right every time

Yelp
This is a nice, fancy restaurant near the beach, offering both indoor and outdoor dining with a quiet ambiance. We chose this spot because our group was diverse--ranging from a 5-year-old to a 90-year-old, with different tastes, and hailing from five different countries. We had a seafood lover, a vegetarian, someone on a diet, and, of course, meat lovers. When we asked if they had a variety of options to cater to such a group, they assured us they did, so we decided to dine there. The ambiance was great, but unfortunately, before we even ordered, our little guest started playing with the lamp on the table, which seemed to make our server, Omar, a bit nervous. He politely asked our guest not to touch the lamp. While understandable, it was a bit of a letdown, as kids these days often need something to occupy them while waiting, especially when they're hungry. As parents, we know that well. We ordered a variety of dishes, but the wait was quite long. When we asked about the delay, the server explained that the well-done steak we ordered was taking extra time. Unfortunately, the dishes came out at different times, meaning some of us were eating while others were still waiting. This disjointed timing, combined with the fact that we spent most of our time waiting for food--even though we'd requested salads and appetizers to start--made the experience feel drawn out. To top it off, we felt rushed toward the end, almost as if someone was eager to clear our plates before we were even done. The atmosphere became tense, and we felt pressured to wrap things up quickly. As a business owner, I always prioritize my customers' experience, especially if it's their first time visiting. If I had been the server and saw a child fascinated by the lamp on the table, I might have gone to the back and found a small lamp to gift to the child as a gesture of goodwill. It would have made a lasting impression and could've led to a more relaxed atmosphere. For a table spending over $600, a $10 lamp would've been a small gesture with a big impact. Additionally, since the food was delayed, it would have been a perfect opportunity to engage us in conversation about desserts or menu options, helping to pass the time in a more positive way. That kind of connection could have even led to us ordering more, and certainly, a better tip. That said, the tomahawk steak was fantastic--big enough for sharing, incredibly fresh, and cooked to perfection. Despite the service issues, we will definitely return to try that steak and other dishes again. I'm a passionate foodie and fair when grading food, service, and ambiance, especially since I've dined in many countries. Based on this experience, I would give two stars, but I plan to return in a few months. If the service improves, I'll gladly update my review and add more stars, reflecting a better experience. Thank you.

Yelp
My wife and I have been coming here for 14 years now. We just had our 14th Anniversary of our first blind date which happened at this Santa Monica location. It's not only that this is a sentinel place for us, but the ambiance and atmosphere are fabulous. The service is always topnotch impeccable, and it was no different on this occasion. The food is spectacular and one of the best steaks anywhere. Our memories and experience are elevated even further thanks to the hospitality, kindness and warmth of William Ousley, who has been there since our very first date, making sure we are happy, and greeting us with genuine enthusiasm. He's absolutely incredible and part of the reason we come back every year for our special occasion. Thanks BOA, all the servers and William for an ongoing remarkable experience. Love it here. 5/5 Food. 5/5 Ambiance. 5/5 Service.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant on a Monday evening during their ONE-hour Happy Hour. Upon arrival, I was initially asked if I was there to pick up a delivery order, possibly due to my casual dress. After clarifying, I chose to sit at the bar. The bartender, a man named Ryan (if I recall correctly), was friendly and professional. He didn't make any assumptions and engaged me in a brief conversation before taking my drink order. For starters, I chose the boneless sweet chili pepper wings from the limited Happy Hour menu. They were absolutely delicious--perfectly fried, tender, and well-seasoned. Next, I ordered the shrimp scampi, which was not part of the Happy Hour menu but was worth every penny. The dish featured three jumbo shrimp in a delightful lemony sauce with capers and onions, accompanied by a small piece of bread. It was heavenly to say the least! For my entrée, I decided on the steak frites with fries. Given that this is a steakhouse, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, I was disappointed when my steak arrived. It wasn't the teriyaki-like sauce that made it appear dark--it was the fact that the steak was burnt, despite my request for a medium-well piece. When Ryan checked in on me, I expressed my dissatisfaction but declined a replacement steak as I needed to return to my room promptly. I ate what I could, had a few more drinks, and requested the check. To my surprise, the total was just over $150, with the burnt steak still included in the bill. While I didn't expect a complete comp, a gesture acknowledging the charred steak would have been appreciated. Despite this, I will return for the restaurant's chill but elegant ambiance, the excellent bartender, and those delicious boneless wings. However, I think I'll stick to having steak elsewhere.

Yelp
Chris, Ryan, and William are so amazing, which really brings the whole experience together. William is always so personable when greeting, yet stays very professional. He is a great start to BOA. Ryan, the bartender, is very kind, funny, and makes great recommendations... and drinks , Chris is an excellent waiter who always has a smile on his face and is just great to be around. The food is always phenomenal, with the Westholm wagyu ribeye being my favorite. The fact that BOA can master the food and service is such a gem. I'm a regular because of the three mentioned!!

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night, wasn't too busy but best to have a reservation. Sat outside and between the breeze and sunset and it made for a great date night location. Started out with a cocktail. Boa fusion was perfectly fruity and tart that is perfect for the summer. I ordered the petite filet which was more than enough for me and my husband got the bone in rib eye. Definitely get it with the herb butter which was delectable. They also have a good variety of sides. We got the sautéed mushrooms which were SO DELICIOUS. We also got the smashed broccoli which was not bad but definitely cannot compare to the mushrooms. The manager also came by for a chat during the dinner which was nice and intimate touch. Would definitely be back! Make a most try for your steak needs!

Yelp
The food I had was great, I ordered to go. It was packaged will and kept its flavor. The prawns were amazing and delicious as was the steak. I wish I had something to say about the service but as I said I ordered to go and didn't get to experience that.

Yelp
It's hard to believe another year has gone by and it was time to celebrate yet again my son's birthday. We needed a special place as he was turning 21 and wanted something memorable -- and Boa fit the bill! To start off, the service is excellent. Our waiter knew about everything on the menu -- from the cocktails, wines and mocktails, to each food item and their component ingredients. We felt un-rushed and (in a nod to "Body Heat") well tended. Cocktails: my son's first legal drink was a smokey mezcal cocktail. I had a smokey bourbon. My ex-wife (we get along very nicely) had a Kir royale. Food: Apps: goat cheese baklava, burrata and tomato, Boa chop salad. All excellent! Mains: My ex had the lobster tail, which she said was excellent. My youngest (16) had the petit filet, I have the bone in Ribeye, and my son had the NY strip -- portions were ample and none of us could finish. Sides: truffle mac and cheese, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes -- all exceptional. The place itself is absolutely beautiful and impressive (though my ex prefers the look of the WeHo location). If you need a place for a special occasion or just have money to burn and want a damn good meal, get thee to BOA.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate a friends birthday and the experience was great! Our server was super patient and had a great sense of humor and made us laugh a lot. On top of that he was on top of every drink order and food order. Phenomenal staff The food was exceptional. I had the tomahawk which was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right! The meat was tender and literally melted in my mouth. The chipotle corn and cream spinach was also very good and for sides, it was a huge amount The appetizers we ordered were blue crab cocktail and jumbo prawn shrimp and they were soooooo good! The whole tables favorite! Overall a great experience for my first try here

Yelp
I have had consistently better experiences here every time I come. We were able to get seated immediately when walking in on a Monday night, but if you come on the weekend I definitely suggest making a reservation. Beautiful restaurant from inside to outside, with great service and food. I'll usually choose between the filet, salmon, or Chilean sea bass depending on the day and it always comes out perfect. Also the loaded baked potato here is lowkey the best baked potato I've ever had. I also suggest the brussel sprouts, baked mac and cheese, and the truffle tots as sides. Dress up for this one.

Been wanting to come to BOA for the longest time and finally did a couple nights ago. I went in at about 7pm on a weeknight and this place was buzzin'. My plan was to sit at the bar but it was full. They have this lounge area connected to it which is a really cool vibe so I sat at one of the tables there. Steven was my server and he was an absolute rockstar throughout my entire dinner. He was really helpful in guiding me through the menu and suggesting the best desserts. The entire staff was very friendly and on top of it. The hosts would even come check in on me to see how things were going. And it was awesome to meet and chat a bit with the manager Andrew. I'm excited to bring my friends/family here pretty soon. 12/10 experience!

Yelp
The food is great here. The service is spectacular and the ambiance is cooler than a penguin. We took friends that had never been and were delighted to share the Tomahawk, lobster mac, carrots, cream of spinach and tiramisu with them. The tomahawk was killer. Only Gardel's tomahawk can compete. We got it medium. The meat was mouthgasmic. Every bite was so succulent. The lobster Mac was delicious and so too were the carrots and cream of spinach. Our seating was on the outdoor patio with an ocean view. It couldn't have been any better. The dessert was very good too but almost best of all was the service. All in all this is among the best steak in this whole area and it's great that they're in Sunset and in Manhattan Beach too. Thanks BOA for a mouth full of goodness!

Yelp
Outstanding service! Really outstanding service. They went above and beyond. The food and craft cocktails were excellent. We had the jumbo lump crab cake for an appetizer. It was beautiful and delicious. The fennel frond salad on top was the perfect complement to the crab. For entrees we all had petite filets (Oscar, peppercorn crust, and blue cheese) and shared the lobster mac n'cheese and the boujee twice baked potato with crème fraiche and caviar. It was ridiculously indulgent. We will be back!

Yelp
We wanted a nice place to celebrate our anniversary, and while the inside of this restaurant is classy and has a great vibe, the location is a bit of a downer. There are a TON of people walking around because of the beach across the way, and there is a much more casual restaurant next door, so we felt a bit odd walking here dressed up because we were coming from a formal event. The hostess was unmemorable; she hardly said two words to us. However, our server was wonderful. He helped us celebrate our special day and offered his opinion on the menu. He said he had been working there for a very long time, and it showed. We ordered the petit filet and a ribeye. Both were seasoned and cooked well, but nothing stood out to me, especially at the cost of $70.00+ per person. I want to say you pay for the environment, but because we were in a beach city, it was very casual and unromantic. Overall, I am glad we gave it a go. People do talk a lot about BOA, but it was okay. I am giving them four instead of three stars because our server rocked! Dine or Dash? I will dine again, only at another location, so we shall see.....

Yelp
Randomly stumbled upon this restaurant while walking down Santa Monica after eating dinner somewhere else. This restaurant has a great selection of wines and small bites as well if you are looking for a nice place to just stop by and chat with a classy dining experience. We were seated right away despite the restaurant being so busy on a Friday evening and the service was wonderful.

Yelp
Me and my partner loved this spot for our date night anniversary. The staff were very nice and made sure we were taken care of. The steak tar tar was one of my favorites and the steak was cooked perfectly! This spot on Santa Monica is nice where you can walk along the beach/pier after.

Yelp
The tomahawk was really good mostly meat not much fat around it. Macaroni and cheese was delicious. Got the garlic mashed potatoes they were okay. Server was very attentive. The place look really nice inside. Since we were there for my bday they gave us 2 warm cookies w/ vanilla ice cream and melted chocolate on the side w/ a fire candle thing. It was really nice and very good. Would go again. Only had room for 1 cookie i was taking the 2nd one home but sadly forgot it on the table

Yelp
Four of us dined at BOA in Santa Monica last evening. We knew well in advance that it would not be an inexpensive evening and we were prepared to pay for fine dining. What we were not prepared for, however, was being "nickeled and dimed". When you pay $560 (including tax and tip), you don't expect ridiculous up charges. It's not the amount of the charge, but the fact that it's even considered by management. In this case, it was a matter of ICE--not the INCLUSION of ice in a cocktail, but the EXCLUSION of ice. My wife and I have dined in restaurants all over the world and have NEVER been charged extra for requesting a drink "straight up". But there it was on our bill--$2 for NO ICE. Unreal, chintzy and enough to keep us from returning. There are other steak houses who provide better food (such as Steak 48 in Beverly Hills) who don't try to squeeze you for your last penny.

Yelp
At BOA Steakhouse, I savored an extraordinary dining experience. The truffle mac and cheese was a delectable experience, rich, creamy, and hard to forget. The steak, cooked to perfection, was tender and succulent. With impeccable service and an elegant ambiance, BOA is a must-visit for those in search of a good time filled with good food, drinks, and service. I can't wait to go back and try more.

Yelp
Great ambiance, friendly staff and delicious food. Glad we tried this place while in Santa Monica.

Yelp
Caution: Food safety/handling issues! Born and raised in SaMo; decided to finally try the infamous BOA. Great ambiance and location. Food was not a match for the price point. However, there is a big issue regarding potential food handling. We found a live baby cockroach in our Coconut mocktail. This really spoiled the rest of the dinner, and we lost our collective appetite and trust in the establishment. The manager, Brian, took care of our entire bill and was extremely apologetic. Regardless, I do feel it's necessary for other potential patrons to be aware of this, especially given the location, high price point, and what this restaurant represents for our city's visitors and locals alike! Pretty disappointed, shocked, and frankly, disgusted.

Yelp
Food is good, I just didn't appreciate being seated outside in the cold when I had reservations on Valentine's Day. I just think they pick and choose who they consider worthy of being seated indoors. They had a pre set menu. Don't think I would go back after having that experience.

Yelp
Food is excellent and service is exceptional! We ordered the appetizers and steak. The sides were so yummy!

Yelp
What a great experience! Seated promptly even though they were busy for a weekday night! Server was straight to the point and fast which I always appreciate! Food was all great! We shared a chopped salad which they split to separate plates for us, his filet was HUGE, my wagyu meatballs and spaghetti was very meaty and delicious! The manager had stopped to ask us how everything was and if we were celebrating at all! We let him know we just got engaged and we're also expecting which his wedding was actually that weekend! He was so excited for us and later in the night the server let us know that a dessert was on them! That was such a sweet gesture and we will never forget! The tiramisu was honestly the best I've ever had!

Yelp
Excellent steaks, consistently cooked to my preference! Friendly staff and efficient service, even when it gets busy. My compliments to the chef! I like the selection from petite filet mignon to tasty wagyu flights, with a side of truffle frites!

Yelp
Wow what an amazing disappointment! Edward our server was great. That's all. To start, the "Tableside Caesar" was not only not done tableside, it was unartfully served (we shared so on two plates) with way too much dressing that I couldn't eat mine. We ordered the parker house rolls which were overcooked on the outside, unnaturally hot on the inside, and they had rosemary in them and since I dislike rosemary, I would not have ordered them. We ordered brussels but I specifically asked if they were greasy because at many restaurants they are. No, we were assured. Oh my gosh they were SO greasy and overcooked. We ordered the Wagyu sampler which we often do at restaurants, so we know what wagyu is. First of all, it was not served with the reverence due real Wagyu. Secondlly, my first bit was solid fat. Not marbled meat. Solid fat. You get an email from the restaurant ahead of time basically warning you if you don't dress "upscale", you might be not allowed to dine there. I called to find out what this meant exactly, and it is more like business casual but definitely was told to dress appropriately. Fine. Great! I like that! Well it just isn't true one little bit! People were VERY casually dressed! And sitting on the patio looked charming, but the streeet noise is just LOUD. For the price point, all things considered, we could not have been more disappointed.

Yelp
Great service. The staff was so nice and funny too! Food was great, we had a lovely view! It was the perfect birthday dinner for my husband. They even put a sparkling candle on our delicious dessert!!

Yelp
I had the pleasure of dining here wi the my family, and while everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their meals, I wasn't as lucky. I decided to try the Beyond Meat burger, and from the first bite, it just wasn't for me--it actually made me gag. That said, it was my fault for venturing out and trying something new. Next time, I'll stick to what I know and love!

Yelp
One of the best places in town that you can get great food, service, and a beautiful ambiance. This place is a must on anyone's list.

Yelp
The best steakhouse in LA, in my opinion. My boyfriend and I came here for a date night. We ordered the Caesar salad, lobster Mac n cheese, truffle gnocchi, and the ribeye steak. - Caesar salad: nice and peppery, just the way I like it - lobster Mac n cheese: good, but nothing special - truffle gnocchi: delicious. had just the right amount of truffle to not overpower anything - ribeye: so juicy. It was a perfect medium rare, and perfectly seasoned. Get the truffle butter with it, you won't regret it! The service was top notch. They were quick, accommodating, and friendly. They surprised us with a free cookie and ice cream at the end of dinner. I can't give a place that gives us free dessert less than 5 stars.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Serving sizes were large. Service was impeccable and attentive. Overall ambiance was fantastic. We sat outside on the patio in the evening and had a great time. Our server was very helpful, as it was our first time there and we were celebrating an anniversary. It's expensive but also one of the few restaurants I've been to in LA whose food, service and experience actually feel like the price is justified.

Yelp
"We occasionally visit high end steakhouses, Ruth Chris being one but our experience at BOA Steakhouse was amazing. The food was on point and every next bite was as good as the last. We have now found our new favorite and this place takes the trophy over Ruth Chris and many others. We can not wait to go back and I strongly recommend you try it for yourself. Little pricey but well worth it because food quality is definitely 5 stars." I agree with my husband words from his review. I enjoyed every single bite. The service was on point. I cannot complaint at all for anything about our experience.

Yelp
Went for birthday dinner. The food is excellent, serving amount is generous. The taste of each of our food were great. The service met the expectations. We had a view of the sunset but there is a plastic curtain that prevents visibility of the sunset. This place has the best mocktails. We have been trying mocktails in similar restaurants but this place nailed it. Though the mocktails priced as if it has alcohol thus, can't complain. It met our expectations. Though it's a little pricey but it's all worth it.

Yelp
I've been coming here to this exact location every year on my birthday since 2014. Every year was amazing and that's why I also came here yesterday (April 8th, 2024) but it made me decide to never come again. The server had that attitude where he can't be bothered to take my order, I didn't even finish eating and without saying any word he just threw (let me say half-threw because it wasn't too harsh to say he threw it, but also not gentle enough to say he put it down.) the bill in front of me. Usually servers say 'no rush but...' before they put the bill in front of you especially when you aren't done eating. I was going to tip 30% because it was my birthday but also 10th year I've been coming to Boa Santa Monica but because I didn't feel great great so I tipped 18%. Same server didn't even ask me if I need a receipt, takes the machine & and bill, check how much I tipped RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME and shuts the cover of the bill as if he is disappointed. + I wasn't rude, all I did was ordering food, I didn't even order small amount, I had the table side salad, steak, truffle mac n cheese and two cocktails + dessert. Otherwise I stayed quiet and enjoyed time by myself. But from the beginning he wasn't nice to me & showed attitude on his facial expression and the way he treated me. He treated the other table super nice. (I overheard them speaking because it was right next to my seat) I love Boas location, food, the service, atmosphere and how everyone treated me for past 10 years and this was truly disappointing experience. Thank you for ruining my birthday night. Don't get me wrong, food was still amazing. Stayed great for past 10 years and probably will. I just happened to have a bad experience on my birthday.

Yelp
6 Stars all day long!!! Porterhouse, 21 day aged Ribeye, Tomahawk perfection!! Sides - baked potato, Mac & cheese, smashed broccoli, prawns, bone marrow, wagyu meatball, Parker house rolls were awesome!! Traffic was unpredictably good from LBC to Santa Monica and we arrived an hour early but we were seated right away. That was nice! We celebrate all special occasions here and been here about 6 or 7 times, we tried the el Segundo location twice, but prefer to drive the extra miles to Santa Monica. Nice intimate setting by the ocean!

Yelp
I hadn't been back in 10+ years. However my recent experiences have been wonderful. The bar is great, excellent cocktails. My husband and I had dinner her a few months back for my birthday- everything was delicious & a great wine list.
