"This Dallas-based steak chain offers two locations: one in the heart of Downtown and one at the Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa. Downtown is more refined, while the Barton Creek locale is more rustic, with historic flags adorning the walls. Both serve super classic and large portions of prime steaks, including porterhouses and tomahawk cuts, pork chops, seafood, and sides such as grilled veggies and macaroni and cheese." - Darcie Duttweiler

Just above average experience. 2.5 stars seems about right, 3 is slightly too generous, 2 is too low. Had booked a few weeks in advance and excited about the meal. Ordered the prime bone in ribeye or "Cote de boeuf". I requested medium rare, which I thought was reasonable. The server proceeded to ask if I wanted it more pink or red. It confused me a little and wasn't sure if a pantone colour was needed. I was thinking just tell the chef med rare. I wish I did The steak seemed medium well. A bit dry and tough, seasoning was also lacking. It was ok, but what I was expecting for a $100 steak ($89+tax). Unmemorable just like the stick of carrot and potatoes. Leftover score: 5/10 Average again

I’ve now tried three of the big steakhouse chains in Downtown Austin- Ruth’s Chris, Capital, Bobs. Hands down Bobs was best. Steak cooked perfectly. Arrived quickly. Great ambiance, super professional staff. Serina the bartender was first rate. Friendly, professional, and clearly liked her job. Made me feel welcome. Steak price might look a few dollars higher but includes a side and a caramelized giant carrot (sounds weird but it’s awesome) so with a side a much better value than the others. Plus I love a good Gin and Tonic and Bobs is the only one of the three that bothers to use Fever Tree premium Tonic. The other two use whatever comes out of the “gun”. I’ll be back for sure.

It was very good, the steak (14oz Ribeye) was cooked perfectly medium-rare. The side I chose, sauteed spinach and mushrooms was delicious. The n/a Arnold Palmer was just right, made with what else but Texas sweet tea! A table mate had the tuna tartar, it was very good as well. No room for desert. The large carrot as a garnish was a little strange, but overall great experience. Pricey, but good. Our server Mikey, was attentive, but not intrusive. The hostess was very pleasant and helpful. If you want a nice date night out, I would say give it a try.

This year,  we decided to do something a little nontraditional for Thanksgiving and go out for dinner. It was our daughter's recommendation to visit Bob's, and I am very happy and proud to report that we could not have chosen a better place to celebrate the holiday. We actually arrived about 20 minutes early for our reservation, but were shown right to our table.  Although I am sure this isn't the case during a non-holiday weekend during peak hours. Upon first walking in, the dining room seemed extremely dark, but it shouldn't be much of a surprise as it was mid-afternoon when we arrived. However, shortly after being seated, the lighting seemed very natural. Our waiter was warm, friendly and very attentive.  He offered honest, on point answers to every question asked, and was eager to make a recommendation when asked.  He never seemed overly rushed, and took the time to joke and cajole. The menu is an efficient single page, unlike some establishments that have pages and pages of things, trying to have a full menu of steaks,  a whole menu of seafood, menu of pasta, chicken, and Mexican. Bob's menu is simple and complete with a great selection of signature steaks, several appetizer choices, and a few seafood dishes to balance things out. Tuna tartar and fried lobster were chosen as appetizers, and when they arrived, I knew that we were in for something special. The tuna was soft and mild with an extremely fresh taste.  The fried lobster was light and crispy and perfectly breaded, and was served a mild buttery sauce on the side. The wait for our entrees was not too long and everything delivered was finely plated. Waygu medallions with seared scallops,  blackened redfish with risotto, rack of lamb, and a 45-day dry aged steak were our entrees and I simply do not have adequate works to describe the joy experienced in every single bite. Side dished seem to be an afterthought at many places, but not here.nd whatever you do, you simply must have their signature carrot, Moving on to dessert, carrot cake, pumpkin cheesecake, and creme brulee were wonderfully prepared, but I must say everyone at the table was a bit jealous of my bread pudding. When you are looking for your next special evening out, please give Bob's your consideration.  Everything we encountered was top notch and I am confident you will find it so too

Hot Restaurant with Cold Service. Where to start? We first arrived to an extremely warm establishment. Apparently the AC was out, but for whatever reason, Bobs felt like it was still appropriate to charge their patrons like it’s a normal business day. Next, we had a table for 10 people and one of the tables broke immediately. I have been going to Bobs for years, albeit the Grapevine one. I expected top service based on how well they treat their customers. The icing on the cake was how bad rude the servers were. There were a few occasions of backhanded comments and disappearance of service. I most likely will never be back at this location.

Recommended by a buddy and it didn’t disappoint. The ribeye was one of the best I’ve ever had. I am definitely adding Bobs yo my list top steakhouses in Austin. It does come at a cost though so be prepared for around $100 a person.

Made reservation in OpenTable for 8pm on a Friday. We were seated right away. As soon as we got to the table we ordered a few drinks from the bar. The drinks took over 30 minutes to get to us :( Then we ordered the appetizers which also took about 20-30 minutes to get to our table. The scallops were really tender and tasty. The calamari was also crispy and cooked to perfection. For the main course, we ordered the steak and lobster. The waitress recommend the fried lobster over the grilled, which seemed strange due to the fact we ordered calamari for the first course (so we already ate something fried that evening). The filet minion was cooked to perfection and extremely tender, that was the best part of the meal! Also ordered the lobster Mac and cheese which was amazing with a strong taste of Gruyère. The entire dining experience took about 2 hours in total. The food was good, maybe exceptional, but the amount of time we waited for everything was not worth it. You are paying the big bucks to eat here for a reason :(

Great food and a classic, old-fashioned atmosphere. The portions are generous—easily enough for two. If you’re lucky enough to be served by Lauraly, she’ll take the experience to another level. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be coming back!
