Bob's Steak & Chop House - Downtown Austin

Went for Valentines Day. Im not gonna lie, this place uses lots of butter but the food/butter is great. The daily specials seem to be better choices for mains but the desserts are top notch! Bread Pudding number 1, Carrot Cake 2. Steak was good with mushroom topper. Sides were okay honestly Ive seen better choices on sides other places. I gave it five stars because the Blue cheese salad dressing and bread pudding were amazeballs. Salads are well put together and love the pecans.

We were in town visiting from Florida and stopped at different steakhouse restaurants in the area. However, none felt inviting and there was always a reason to not sit us for service. Except when we walked into Bob's. The friendliness at the door is what did it for us. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. We will come back to Bob's on our next visit and skip all the other restaurants from now on. Thank you for the great service and for having such friendly staff.

I’ve always been a big fan of Bob’s. I can always count on it for a great meal. That’s what made tonight’s experience so disappointing. First off, they didn’t have any regular prime ribeyes. So I got a NY Strip and it was seriously bad. Halfway through eating it I flipped it over and they hadn’t seasoned or seared the other side of the steak at all. How that happens at a place like this is a mystery. Worse yet the manager didn’t really seem to care other than saying he would tell chef. That doesn’t do me any good when I just spent $85 for the worst Bob’s meal I’ve ever had. I may have to find a new favorite place in town which makes me sad.

Went there for xmas dinner with our company, was good in the beginning but got crappy by the end of the evening the intro menu was better then the main dish was really disappointed im from san antonio and we have a bobs here and never had such a bad experience as in austin our main dish was the steak and it was so red they took it back and came back still red and there was about 30 people in this room that ordered the same and we all got them and sent them back looks good on the outside but so red inside not everyone like there steak the way it was served, the bar took forever to get a beer or a drink served to us for the price that was payed the service was unsatisfactory customer service was beyond ignored we looked forward to this meal but it was not what we thought

I had my wedding scheduled at Bob’s Rooftop in May but unfortunately had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. Even so, working with Jackie, their event coordinator, was an absolute joy—I highly recommend this venue! She went above and beyond, essentially acting as my wedding planner. Jackie offered to test the champagne tower for me, helped fit tablecloths and chair covers (especially helpful since I’m not local), accepted deliveries on my behalf, and assisted with setting up the band, cake, florals, and more. She was always available, incredibly kind, and genuinely fun to work with. I felt awful about canceling, and she couldn’t have been more understanding. Bob’s Rooftop offers amazing pricing, top-notch service, and the best staff. And of course, delicious food (this was one of my fave spots in Austin) Huge thanks to Jackie for everything! 🩷

Both my kids attend UT so me and the wife were down for our annual trip and like always we take the kids out. We have never been to Bobs. Service was great atmosphere wonderful. Only negative was my son’s steak! it just happened to be a bad piece of meet. When they collected his plate with a steak that only had two bites they asked what was wrong and I said it was too tuff and chewy they offered to cook it more which would not have fixed it. I was really surprised when they just brought us the bill and never came to offer any kind of explanation like Hey we’re sorry about that or anything at all. I know Bob’s has been around for a while. The fact that a manager didn’t come by or anybody was surprising because of that will probably spend our money somewhere else. Disappointing at first time at Bob’s. I sent an email to talk to the manager per your request and received no response

Stopped by Bob’s tonight to pickup a little dessert. I know it sounds crazy, going to a steakhouse to pickup dessert but Bob’s has one of the best carrot cakes in country. The slice that we picked up didn’t disappoint, it was well worth the trip and price.

Be careful with the steaks! Ordered mine medium rare the steak came back rare. It was Valentine’s Day so it was a busy night and the food took a while for it to be served. Thought that it would be okay to eat the steak as-is to avoid sending it back to the kitchen. End up in the bathroom constantly this morning with endless diarrhea (from eating raw steak). Service was friendly but felt overlooked at times. Atmosphere was nice. Maybe will try again on a normal day but somewhat disappointed.

1st time coming to Bob's and LOVED IT!! From the service, to the ambiance, to the food, they hit the mark in every aspect. The espresso martini was one of the best I've had - it wasn't too strong or too weak, just the right amount (bonus points for the coffee beans!). The appetizers and entrees were also amazing and came out in great time. I was more than satisfied (and full!) at the end of the meal. I will definitely be returning for their Happy Hour specials to try something different!

The happy hour is solid fast service ! Great place to pregame for an acl live stop ! Beautiful roof top view ! Nice staff the margarita was crisp and smooth .calamari and a fresh margarita is a great girl dinner !!!!

We have been to Bob's in Plano many times and this location did not match the level of service or quality we are used to. I don't want to be picky but spending $200 for an app and 2 entrees ( wine and a cocktail) I expect a little more polish. I won't name the server but he was not on top of things. Valet is hard to get to when there's traffic but that's just how it is downtown. I don't recall the manager stopping by to check in after I food came out. With all of the fantastic options in Austin, this location needs to step it up.

Went to celebrate my sister and bro in laws anniversary, as we always do. We usually get a "special" greeting and a card from the staff. This time there was no mention of it and when we told the waiter, he said' "Would you like to celebrate with some champagne and he brought 2 glasses, so I guess the other 2 people could watch them celebrate. We all thought that was VERY STRANGE. While the food was excellent, sometimes you go for more than the food - will sadly have to find another place for the next special occasion. Plus no more pickles?

Came to Bobs with a party of 8, we had reservations waited at the bar until we were sat. The service at the bar was quick and friendly. The vibe is what you'd expect from a steakhouse. Here's what I had: Steak and lobster 5/5. Get your lobster garlic and it's amazing! My steak was a little smaller than expected but still delicious Gin martini with olives. 5/5 stirred not shaken for me!

The only reason why I'm giving any stars at all is because of our amazing waiter, Jaden. He was absolutely wonderful and offered great service. The food was good. But the reason for my low star review is 1000% because of their manager, Steve. I have never been so disrespected in my life at an establishment like this. We were upstairs at the rooftop area and came down around 11pm. Jaden had told us at 10:30pm that they were closing and asked if he could close our check so he can get finished up on his closing duties while we finished up. We said no problem at all, and when we walked downstairs to leave, Steve looks at us and said, "how did you guys get in here?" Mind you, we had to-go bags in our hands so he clearly knew we just had dinner there. We just spent around $300-$400 and this guy is acting like we scaled the wall to get in there.. i told him we were finishing our drinks and packing up our food and he said, "well we are closed, you guys shouldn't be here." I told him, yeah that's why we are leaving now. He then proceeded to yell at me through the restaurant and finally i said "i get it, we are not welcome here, we will be sure to not come back." Then Steve says "yes, you're not welcome here and that would be great if you didn't come back!" At this point, I am at a loss for words. I waited for my friend to get out of the bathroom so we can get away from this unhinged "manager" and while I'm waiting, Steve yells at me "if you don't leave right now I will call the cops on you!!" I couldn't believe he had taken it this far. I will never step foot in that place again only because of Steve and honestly, I feel bad for any of the employees that work there because i can only imagine what kind of work environment that must be with a guy like Steve as your manager. This guy should not be working there, nor should he be working in any place that serves the public. Clearly he's got some screws loose.

My wife and I recently went to Bob's in downtown Austin. We had previously been to Bob's one time in 2019. Simply put, it used to be better. The bacon-wrapped shrimp appetizer was fine, no complaints. My steak was decent, if a little salty. But my wife's salmon was dry and flavorless, possibly overcooked. In addition, the manager never came over to our table, even though the restaurant was only half full. Finally, the service was acceptable. To sum it up, Bob's has fallen a notch or two in the last 5 years. Let's hope it can regain the Bob's commitment to excellence. Otherwise it will be just another restaurant -- good, but not great.

Four of us went there. Two of us had awful food poisoning for 36 hours after. When I called to let them know their "general manager" Steve said "there's nothing we can do about that" and then proceeded to call me a clown. Literally the most disrespectful experience I've had with a restaurant or business in my life. So yeah, in short the food was subpar and two of us felt horrendous for nearly two days after. Tons of good steakhouses in Austin, this isn't one of them. BUYER BEWARE.

This is a great location for a downtown Austin dining experience. The restaurant has a great and energetic environment. It is good for group dining but also has a huge bar that makes it easy for solo diners as well. The service was really good as well. The food was really mediocre and probably would put it lower on the list of food experiences for that reason. The steak was not cooked to the requested temperature desired and the overall quality was really low and texturally chewy. The 16oz fried lobster appetizer was good but not spectacular. Typically I expect to have an exceptional dining experience when you pick a restaurant like this, but it falls short. However the service was great!

Flew in to Austin to visit my aunt and didn't realize it was impossible to get into a good restaurant without reservations. We walked around until we found Bobs and were happy to get in. We started with the tuna tartare, which was delicious. Sadly the wonton chips were extremely stale. I alerted the server who brought me back 3 more chips and said those were made today. First of all, why are you serving anything not made the same day? Secondly, these were equally as stale. We didn't say anything else. The salads were fresh and delicious. Then the steak came. Honestly, nothing wowed me about the steak. The cut was mediocre for a filet and the flavor was subpar. The waiter ranted and raved about the cream corn brûlée - which sounded fantastic - but sadly had zero flavor and wildly lacked salt. The brussel sprouts were amazing but I was a little bothered by the fact that we had no idea they were cooked with bacon. One would think the server would ask if we wanted the bacon, as we asked for no bacon on the salad. Very underwhelming meal for $300. It's a cute, dimly lit place, but I won't run back there again. Disappointed in what we received throughout the meal.

Luckily, we were treated to a business dinner here and got to enjoy ALL parts of the menu. There is not an appetizer on the menu that isn't fabulous but the fried lobster was AMAZING! My wagyu ribeye was the best steak I have ever eaten, but the carrot and potatoes were nothing special. We'll get to the sides in a minute. Dessert was cheesecake and the most amazing brownie and ice cream. Excellent way to finish the meal. Drink menu was great and o had the espresso martini. Perfect end to a perfect meal. Back to the sides...The true star of the show was the CREAM CORN BRULEE. Trust me, you will dream about for weeks following your meal. As an educator, I would never be able to afford a meal like this again, so I truly appreciate the greatness that is Bob's Steak and Chop House.

Celebrating a friend's birthday, this was my first visit. The staff attended to our party very well. The bartender made an excellent chocolatini. It's extremely hard to find a bar that will make it and even harder to find one that will make it as delicious as this one. The atmosphere was welcoming to people of all ages and the restrooms were quite pleasant. The crab cake appetizer was so delicious that I ordered them for my main dish.

worst food and beverage ive had in atx. came in solo on a tuesday. ordered mezcal marg, caesar, and redfish. marg was cheeks. caesar my face probably showed dissatisfaction with plating. redfish was sent back when the risotto was actually multi day old rice. chewy. tasted like someone combined all the asian seasonings in the pantry. didn't touch the fish. they said they brought me an old menu and the risotto wasn't supposed to be there. i think whoever built this place died along time ago. will never recommend to anyone.

Absolutely loved our food. Service was A+ but just know you ain't getting outta here for under $250. I had sticker shock and that was my fault. But, our steaks were so good. So, just a fair warning.

Terribly tragic that's not a prime ribeye folks.. absolute trash .............................................................. Gave the refired steak to the homeless guy outside the door in the sleeping bag and felt guilty giving him this trash

Worst steakhouse in Austin! To start the hostess was rude, our server ignored us and all service was terrible. Food was subpar. Will definitely not go back!

Our "go to" place for special occasions and holidays. Food and service are unsurpassed. Started taking our grandkids when they were toddlers. Teenagers now and Bobs is where they ask to go for birthdays and special events. Always well prepared.

A little pricey but good... The least expensive steak is a 12oz Ribeye for $59. Medium rare was slightly overcooked. They recooked a fresh one that was perfect. Don't know what the giant carrot is about though.

This restaurant has a great old-school vibe to it. Case in point, look for the giant cigar case. This time around we went to the rooftop bar which on a pleasant evening was the perfect spot to grab a drink and chat with friends.

Located in downtown Austin, this steakhouse is very Texas. It encompasses the whole Texas ranch vibe. We arrived at seven for our reservation and was seated immediately. (There's valet at the front door) Our server was friendly and helpful in choosing plates and options. Food ordered; -Sea bass with a blackberry sauce, fingerling potatoes and onions. (It was good, a tad too fishy for my tastebuds) -Veal with skillet potato's (he said it was excellent) -Kansas City skirt streak (he said was good at first, but seasonings were overwhelming) -appetizers such as onion rings, fried calamari and shrimp cocktail -grilled asparagus and salads -desserts were creme brûlée, key lime pie, and chocolate pb pie We liked the atmosphere and the service was fantastic! Bill was $650-ish with tip.

My young daughter went there with a group. The server did not inquire on how her steak was cooked and she was stuck with a piece of raw meat. I emailed the manager and received no response.

2 star max "texas sized" no it was rhode island size onion rings were absolutely terrible probably the worst i've ever had the cakes are humongous, pretty tasty out waitress was a little odd

Terrible experience. For the price point and to feel like I dined at Longhorn steak house was surprising! I can't even blame it on NYE ... it wasn't busy! Food was cold, drinks were eh. Old Fashioned was $30.00 and there was nothing special about it, white wine wasn't chilled. The lobster Mac and cheese minus the lobster. All of this could be overlooked, but it's the lack of hospitality! This place isn't cheap and you expect a dining experience. It was our anniversary and they did nothing! We booked the reservation and mentioned this was a special occasion and that we were celebrating our anniversary and not one single word about it! Even when we mentioned it. We did ask to speak to a manager about our food being served ice cold and he seemed more annoyed than anything. Even asked what we would like him to do. You tell me since you're the manager! There are other places I'll stick to for special occasions... Trulucks, Perry's to name a few.

I always have a good meal at Bob's but rarely have a good time. Last night we celebrated a milestone at Bob's downtown Austin location. The meal was excellent as usual, the drinks were perfection, and the service was spot on. However, I left the restaurant frustrated and with no desire to return. Why? Two reasons - noise and heat. Bobs has always been a louder than normal dining experience, but it don't know why. Carpeting should absorb noise, and the open concept should allow noise to dissipate across the area. The normal, acceptable sound level went through the roof as two large tables sat near us. Although I was facing away from them, their noise was deafening and our table had to yell at each other to communicate. The heat was more irritating. Midway through the meal it seemed like someone opened the doors to the hot summer night AND turned on the heat. Even the servers noticed the jump in temp. I used to consider Bobs a nice place for a special meal but now it's more an expensive test of tolerance and not worth the time nor money. Food - A+, Service - A+, Ambience - F

My husband has frequented this location several times for hosting a dinner of around 8 or more men each time. Appetizers, dinner, cigars, and drinks. The waiter he gets knows him by name. We all ordered steaks and about two men seemed to truly enjoy their steaks while the rest of us didn't say much. Mine was burnt on top and overcooked on one side and very dry. My knife wasn't sharp enough so I'm sawing through a tender steak. The others were too. For a steakhouse, knives should be so sharp you barely need to press and yet I'm embarrassingly sawing through. The carrot looks a bit strange sitting in the middle of the plate. A soft sent of cinnamon hit my nose. It tastes nice but again, I'm sawing through a slippery large carrot and it's sliding all over my plate. I finally cut a piece off and I can't even stab it with my fork. It was undercooked. The only good thing was the smashed potatoes. For these prices, steaks should be well seasoned and cooked perfectly each time even with a large table. If you can't, don't seat groups. At one time it took me quite a while to chew through the dried piece. The fried lobster was perfect. Breading did not fall off. It was delicious. The jalapeno bacon shrimp is nothing to write home about. You can make better ones at home. I watched the manager as he checked everything in the restaurant. He reset the chairs, counters, everything. He's a tall man and not easy to miss which makes it very easy to find him and talk about any concerns or ask questions. Most managers disappear in the crowd. Sadly, as one of the guests asked for a group photo, the waiter got annoyed when he was asked to redo the photo because the camera didn't capture everyone. He also asked if it was okay and if he needed to redo it. When asked to do it again, he took a deep breath, looked annoyed and tried again. The restaurant was beginning to clear out at this time so he wasn't causing an issue for anyone. The humidor is full of mostly the same cigars you'll find anywhere. They're some of the most popular but there was barely any rare and good finds. I found one way in the back and it definitely needed to be brought to the front to show off among the Patels. Bring in some of the popular ones but it would be nice to see labels that are hard to find and just as good or better. Cohiba and Rocky Patels are usually everywhere. Not a big deal. You can get them at any humidor anywhere. Smoking upstairs is nice with a full bar. If you're not hungry, go up with your cigar, order a drink and enjoy the city sounds and fresh air. There's better steakhouses and they'll cook a flavorful steak perfectly each time. I'd recommend going somewhere else for groups.

Cocktails, apps, and an interview. Beats zoom or going to the office. Bob's is great. It's a little old fashioned and stuffy. But the service is great. The cocktails are top notch, and the food is fantastic(ly expensive!). And the desserts! To die (poor) for! If you can afford it - do it. If you can only afford it once - do it.

If you see something Say something Started out Ok but at the end not so much. Great location and nice ambiance and the staff was pretty good and attentive. The salads were good, the wine was good and unfortunately 4 steaks and all were over cooked. What ironic is none of us said anything about it or returned our steaks as we did not want to be "That Guy". But the next day we were asked about dinner by some other colleagues and all f us said our steaks were overcooked. Dessert was good- Cheesecake over ice cream

As I walked into Bob's Steak & Chop House from the blazing afternoon Austin sun I thought I had been struck blind. It was only after my eyes adjusted to the extreme darkness that I realized I walked into a perfect example of what you want a true American Steakhouse to be: covered in dark wood from floor to ceiling, dim lighting, and perfectly cool. There was the low murmur of upscale dining conversation punctuated by the occasional deep laughter coming from men who are no stranger to a cigar and a well aged bourbon. We hosted a large party here...three tables of eight. The service was, again, exactly what you want it to be. Professional, multi-layered, and we'll educated on all offerings. The drink menu is creative and the drinks are masterfully presented. The appetizers were very good, shrimp were large and super fresh, tuna tartare was good but could have been more finely minced (was more like pokè) the nueske bacon was a little less than we expected...delicious, but some were a little dark. The main course menu is simple but very well appointed with what you're there for...steak. There were seafood options but...why? I, along with a number of my dinner guests, ordered the Snake River Farms Black Label Wagu Filet and it did not disappoint. Mine came slightly cooked over medium rare, but was still melt in your mouth delicious. The entree came with your choice of potato and a rather large singular carrot. At a table full of well aged men it took us only minutes to de-evolve into adolescent boys comparing carrot sizes. Mine was rather robust, so I was spared any ribbing ;) Dessert portions were very large and all delicious without exception. Everyone in our party left a little drunk, very full, and happy. It's quite expensive...our groups total was just under $5,000 including a pre-set large group tip...so right at $200 / person. I would say that's on par at a place like this but you get what you pay for. I would recommend this for anything from a romantic dinner, or negotiating the purchase of large and powerful companies (drinks here...cigars later). Enjoy!

Was asked by one of my bosses to attend a dinner with a client that we work with and I could not be more grateful for being asked to attend. Meal started with the scallop on bacon, a great salty bite with a creamy scallop and a slightly pickled jalapeno. Lollipop lamb chops, I usually am not fond of lamb, but this was good. For my entre I had the house ribeye. It had a perfect crust and beautiful marbling. Just a great chew and flavor. Sides were the mac and cheese, and roasted brussel sprouts. Service was top notch. Servers anticipated your every request. I love this place, if I could only really afford it. And to top it off, we had 2 bottles of wine, I would have taken a photo of the labels but after talking to my boss about the wine, I couldn't afford it. Both were Cabs from the same winemaker, just one 6 years older. We started with the older vintage and that was WOW!. The second bottle equally delicious, but you could tell that it was a much younger wine than the 1st bottle. I do know it was a northern California wine. Great place, Great Service. This is a must try if your reading this.

If nothing else go to Bob's for the experience. They truly know the meaning of fine dining. We went here for date night to celebrate our anniversary and when seated received complimentary glasses of champagne to set the mood. There was never a period longer than 5 mins without our server coming by to check on us. Throughout our dinner, we interacted with several employees and each was pleasant. We had the wedge salad to start and every ingredient on the plate tasted fresh even the tomato (which I hate). Every component of the salad pairs so well, the bacon is good and crispy, the ranch dressing is thick and tasty, overall this salad is amazing. We also had the prime ribeye (14 oz) and decided to split that since the last time we were here neither of us finished our meals. The steak was cooked to perfection, it comes with a potato side of your choice and a glazed carrot. For dessert we had the crème brûlée topped with fresh berries and some it's the perfect ending to an amazing meal. We love Bob's and have been several times now and have consistently gotten great food and better service each time.

TERRIBLE STEAKS! Ordered a supposed Snake River Farms bone in Filet for around $130 and they gave me something I could barely cut through worse than dog food. No joke folks go elsewhere unless you want Bobs False Advertising of their Steaks :( Eddie V and Flemings do the same Darn thing too :(

Six of us had a fabulous meal celebrating our two grandchildren's engagements. The drinks were great especially the Manhattan. Service was stellar. Jim took excellent care of us. Old school steakhouse hoping to see Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin sitting in a corner booth. Lighting was dimmed, formal table settings, waiters dressed in black with long starched white aprons. The entire experience was perfect for our occasion.

AMAZING food, excellent service. I am not a huge meat lover myself, however it is impossible to pass on the opportunity to try their amazing entrees. The prime ribeye is absolutely one of the best I've had. The "smashed" potatoes were soft, creamy and buttery. The signature giant carrot lived up to its fame. Will definitely dine here again. Service was excellent as well.

Words cannot express how good this place is! The service was impeccable, the food was even better, & the atmosphere was very romantic & elegant for a night out for our anniversary. The lights were dimmed with soft music playing. The waiters went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. Ex: our waiter, William, knew our name, knew it was our anniversary due to that choice chosen on the event from our reservation. He made sure to address the event & even brought us out a free incredible chocolate peanut butter brownie with ice cream on top. For dinner, we had the lobster bisque appetizer & then my husband & I both had the ribeye cooked at medium temperature, the famous large glazed carrot, & I had the smashed potatoes while he had the skillet potatoes. Seriously the best steak ever. Be prepared to spend a good amount but it's so worth it.

Freaking amazing. Crab cakes were to die for with plenty of crab. Best pork chop I've ever had! Thick and juicy, served with apples that compliment it perfectly. The dishes accompanied by a roasted carrot and pan fried potatoes. Ordered a side of Mac and cheese and yeah, it was the ultimate Mac & Cheese. Tons of cheese and they add not bacon bits but CHUNKS of bacon. Absolutely exquisite! Definitely be back for special occasions!

Terrible. Our server was wonderful but as we were eating and discussing wine, his bosss came and scolded us for "offending his customers". We have been coming to Bobs for years. Even our waiter was kind in trying to let us cancel our order but his boss continued to try and "scold" me. Just felt Inappropriate and could have been handled better.

The service at Bobs was excellent, as were the drinks. Overall it's a nice restaurant with good vibes, but for the price I'm not sure the food is worth returning for. It's good, but is it THAT good? I'd recommend if you love big portions and rich food.

BEST meal of 2021 for us! So good, it yanked me out of my COVID-induced sabbatical from Yelp. It would be a crime for me to not tell the world how awesome our meal was! We ordered online and then picked it up. Easy-peezy: enter valet, call the #, seconds later your food comes out to you. Nicely packaged. **** Bleu cheese salad: good. Nice amount of Bleu cheese crumbles, fantastic dressing. The pecans were lacking crunch. If the pecans were toasted, it would be great. ***** Fresh bread: okay, I'm a snob (hi, COVID baker here!). Big-time kudos to Bob's bread: Excellent! ** Calamari - disappointing (i.e., believe the reviews) ***** Cocktail sauce - strangely, it's so good it saves the appetizer! **** Crab cake - small in size for a $19 pricetag, but it's absolutely delicious! ***** Tuna tartare - WOW! Generous amount of tuna, wonderful flavor, great chips. Yep, that's a "gotta get it again" ***** Filet mignon and lobster tail, smashed potatoes and Bob's signature carrot - Perfection. No other words needed. ***** 14oz Ribeye, baked potato, Bob's signature carrot - Perfection. Biggest compliment from my husband: he didn't put his "extra" on his steak - didn't want to ruin it. ***** Bob's signature carrots - YUM! (I never really cared for cooked carrots, but I'll eat these any day!!!) **** Chocolate peanut butter brownie ice cream dessert (sorry, no pic!). It was good, not great. Ice cream was really rich. It's moisture helped offset the dryness of the brownie. Yummy fudge sauce. And there you have it: our order! We vote this meal the best of 2021 (at least so far!)! Highly highly highly recommend!

I'm going to have to give them another shot. I didn't realize until I left that the ribeye that I ordered medium actually was way more rare. It's hard to tell with the dark ambiance. So I was disappointed when I left that it wasn't what I wanted. I was recommended the black Manhattan and honestly if you don't really like regular Manhattans I think you should try this one. I'm more of an old fashion lady. I came shortly after they opened so the service was well. I did notice my server paid more attention to the couple right beside me but it didn't bother me.

Our server Craig was friendly, as was the bartender who served us our drinks at the table. He was informative regarding the menu. The 4 of us all ordered steaks, the ribeye and strip were excellent, the Kansas City bone-in was a little chewy. Salads were large. It was an expensive dinner, but worthy.

Wife and I came here for our anniversary in June. We both don't often eat red meat, so for anyone looking for a steak review, skip this. Staff was warm and friendly. The rooftop is small and cozy. Great place to sit and even casually watch some sports. Crab cakes had more than an ample amount of crab. Good balance of bread crumbs to meat. Tuna tartare was fantastic. Tuna was soft and fresh. Only recommendation, provide some wasabi to give us some heat. The broiled verlasso salmon was delicious. Great flavor. Buttery and rich. Melts in your mouth. Not bad for a farmed salmon. Sauteed spinach and mushroom... well pretty much what you can expect. Good filler for us. Do get the carrot cake. Best use of ugly vegetables ever. Favorite thing we had all night. My big complaint. We ordered smoked salmon appetizer that came with toasted bread, chopped eggs, onions, and capers. The bread was stale. We alerted our waiter. Who then proceeded to tell the manager. He then came over and told us he will see what was the cause. That is great and all.. but at the end of the day Bob's isn't cheap. They should have at least replaced our bread. Overall the food and service is good. The stale bread and no action to remedy it really did annoy us. But even without that, Bob's does not justify its prices, thus the 3 stars.

Andrea was incredible in making me a quick reservation after Vince Young cancelled my reservation. Tony's energy was amazing! This guy knows how to make someone feel at home. He's incredible, his suggestion of the mashed potatoes was amazing! What a great experience every single time I am in Austin. Absolutely spectacular!

I have never been to a really fine steak house before, despite being an avid steak eater at home, so I was so excited to come here with a work group. The hostesses were fine, not very friendly. We came early in a Friday and we're only the second table sat at that time for dinner. Our waiter was nice enough, but I always find it sus when all of their "personal favorite recommendations" just so happen to be the most expensive thing on the menu, or the specials. Apps: we got bacon wrapped shrimp and crab cakes. Both were good, not exceptional. In fact I almost forgot about the crab cakes. We also ordered a wedge and I will say that was DELICIOUS. Some of the best bleu cheese dressing I've ever had. Entrees: they had a $90 wagyu filet as a special (8oz), which I ordered. What bothered me was I asked the waiter if the steak would taste better rare versus medium rare, he started explaining to me that if I like a warm red center etc...and I said no I understand the temperatures I'm asking what temperature it should be cooked to for optimal flavor and he couldn't answer me, so I got medium rare. It was cooked well, as super soft but...I expected to have my literal mind blown with the delicious flavor of a $90 steak and it tasted, okay. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their entrees but no one was raving about the meat- more so about the potatoes. They also serve the meals with a whole carrot but it's baked in some sort of apple glaze which is really sweet and not to my liking. Sides: we did the Mac and cheese, Brussels and a creamed corn special. The Mac and cheese was dry and not flavorful, and I don't understand the difference between the cream corn special and regular cream corn it tasted all the same. Brussels were good! Dessert: we ordered the big brownie sundae thing, the bread pudding, and I got a scoop of vanilla. The sundae and bread pudding were a hit. My scoop of ice cream was comical- it was a teeny tiny scoop of ice cream that they dropped in this massive goblet making it look smaller, and half had melted by the time I got it. I didn't eat much of it, I like my ice cream solid. Drinks: I ordered a vodka martini which was perfectly made and we got a bottle of wine. All in all it was a pleasant meal, but for the caliber I expected I was let down. I would try other steakhouses before I returned there- except for that martini!

I grabbed a drink here with a few friends. Even though it was right before closing, they accommodated us and didn't rush us out as we sipped our beverages. The restaurant is pretty spacious and was decently busy for a Tuesday night. I ordered the Dobel Old Fashioned. I like tequila and this drink actually tastes like an Old Fashioned without the spice of whiskey. It didn't really suit my tastes. But the bartender and waitstaff were friendly. Good location in the heart of downtown Austin.

This was not my first time coming to this location but it will definitely be the last. Our server was a sweet girl named Bailey. We were a party of 10 and over $2K spent. Upon removing plates from the table, I simply wanted my husband and my food to be placed in the same box but before I could get my full statement out, the staff member (who was not our server Bailey), " I don't have 8 arms." R-U-D-E. She of course returned and again with a poor attitude. I told her that she was rude and she reiterated that all she said was that she doesnt' have 8 arms. Someone else in my party asked her what her name was. She in turn asked the CUSTOMER what their name was. Again I say RUDE. My husband went to find the manager and speak to him. We would like to think that this has nothing to do with race, but it definitely felt that way. The manager never came to address the table about this situation. While we were not expecting anything to be taken off of the bill, we AT LEAST wanted to be heard and know that the situation was addressed. To top that off, 3 people at the table received their order prepared incorrectly. Overall just not the way I want to spend my money. Again, I expect nothing to come of this, but unless you are feeling like throwing your money away, spare yourself and don't go to this location.

Okay - you're looking for a date night spot. Go straight to the bar at Bob's for their classic Martini - shaken, not stirred. Recommend Kettle One, a splash of olive juice with three olives. Nothing else. Then order the wedge - because you know steak is next. And for some reason, a wedge salad always tastes better knowing a steak is on the grill and heading your way. Now which steak you may ask - I'm talking Bone IN Ribeye. Am I right? Of course I am. I may not ride horses, but it ain't my first rodeo. Before you cut into the Charred/Rare (Pittsburg Style) steak - stir up all that goodness which comes on the fully loaded baked potato. Don't shy away from it - double down. The combinations of flavors will have you coming back for more - I promise. Amazing bar staff - perfectly well lit - and a tiny tv to not miss the irrelevant game - but hey, its a bar so why not. Enjoy!

We went to Bob's for a birthday celebration and expected a high quality experience. The food was great, but the service was disappointing. The entrees were delicious. We had the Prime Filet Mignon and Seared Duck Breast. I would absolutely recommend the Creamed Corn in the Crème Brûlée style. However, our server was quite rude- no eye contact, looking away while we asked questions, and nearly ignoring us. I am not sure if this was because we were young, didn't order an appetizer, or a whole bottle of wine. Either way, we sure weren't staying for dessert after being treated like we were not worthy of our server's time. I am sure there are other servers who are great- for example, one came over to our table as we were looking for our server. I am not sure we will be back as there are a lot of elegant dining options in downtown Austin.

I hadn't heard anything of this restaurant before but I'm so glad I was brought here. I was set up for a surprise dinner on my birthday and when I say I had an absolute grand time I really mean it. The hostess and the server were showing great service. My food was to die for as I didn't even get to finish at all. I saved it for the next day and it still tasted amazing. Very peaceful restaurant not a lot of noise very good intimate setting. Very affordable and also you're getting what you pay for.
