25 Essential Restaurants in Chelsea

"This spot excels at the most basic of Vietnamese dishes in a coffee house setting. Three kinds of pho are available, slightly better than average, plus banh mi, and green papaya salad with a large variety of add-ins, aiming to be the perfect luncheon main course. With its filled bao, the place strays into Chinese territory. The Vietnamese coffee, hot or cold, is particularly good." - Robert Sietsema

BòCàPhê Chelsea Review - Chelsea - New York - The Infatuation

"This mostly Vietnamese restaurant in Chelsea is a typical casual neighborhood spot that you can walk into any night without a reservation, and you should come here primarily for the phở. It's straightforward, with only one type of beef (eye round) in a subtly sweet broth with scallions and herbs. You’ll also get some whole chili peppers on the side, which we haven’t seen anywhere else. Other dishes like the Mama Tom peanut curry with a few tiny pieces of shrimp and a bao bun with overcooked chicken are disappointing, and everything here seems pricey compared to similar dishes elsewhere. photo credit: Emily Schindler" - Kenny Yang

We arrived a few minutes before noon, but we were told it was no problem and to come right in... We noticed that the restaurant was very colorful and definitely felt very authentic... The food itself was excellent. I had a rice bowl and I was very full... it was not skimping by any means... The soup was quite delicious and the noodles as well... We don't have any complaints... Even the restrooms were really nice looking! Overall very colorful, very friendly and very homey nice feeling... Wanting to go again

I have to say, I enjoyed every single bite of the meal in Bocaphe👏🏻 I had a 4 course, with a couple of cocktails. The best cocktail was the dragon 🐉 🔥 it was delicious. Considering the quality, the price is perfect. Ideal for those who want a romantic night out or go out with a friends. There was also plenty of room for bigger groups. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing, everything we tasted melted in other mouths 😃i

I love love love vietnamese food. Unfortunately I did not love the food at this restaurant. The Banh Mi was not tasty. It was ok. Definitely nothing special. The meat was lukewarm. I would have preferred it hot. The green papaya salad was just awful. It literally tasted days old. It did not taste fresh and further more, it had no flavor. Such a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. I should have had those delicious dan dan noodles down the block instead.

This restaurant is one of the best Vietnamese restaurant in NYC, we came and try different food and cocktails and they were amazing. We recommend order Classic beef pho this dish in special was amazing. Feels like home, also we order shrimp rolls that they have a very tasty flavor with the sauce, chicken& ginger flavors are amazing too, and bao Buns one of the best in New York City, this place is perfect to get out of the routine and get a different food and amazing cocktails. My favorite Vietnamese restaurant!!! The food is incredible. I tried the Pho 🍜 and Bahn mi and flavors were so exquisite. Prices are good and it’s a great option for winter days but cocktails too so I definitely would be back on summer!

I knew I wanted vitenamese food for dinner and was really excited to check this place out. Everything was great. The staff members were kind, the atmosphere was nice, and the food was delicious. I ordered the summer rolls and a pork banh mi. It was very filling. I also had the lychee mojito which was HEAVEN. It was a very well made drink. I kicked myself for not requesting the sauce when I took the other half of my banh mi home.

Seems they’re still working out some of the kinks of a new place. Had the spring rolls for an appetizer, very nice. Spicy chicken rice noodles for main, not bad but not great and not spicy. They’ve jumped on this credit card surcharge thing. I was charged an extra 4% for paying with a credit card. I really don’t like this, almost everyone pays with a credit card so just raise your prices. It’s shady to add 4% at checkout. Lame! Based on this factor alone, I prefer to avoid this place. 👎🏼

A great place for Vietnamese! The pho was delicious. The broth was flavorful and the ingredients inside were fresh and vibrant. The taro fries were really good too. Paired with the sauce, they had great flavor and a nice crisp. The bo bun was okay. It was something I wanted to try but wasn't particularly happy with mainly because I thought it would be a heartier dish. To loosely describe this dish, it's like a salad topped with some noodles and choice of protein. Not a bad dish! The drinks are also worth checking out. Service was really good. The staff is friendly and helpful!
